Insufficient Storage Available? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Hey everyone,
So I hope this hasn't been asked before but I couldn't find it anywhere...
I have the ME7 Galaxy S4 and I just installed BoneStock ROM via SafeStrap. When I booted up the ROM for the first time, the Play Store immediately started restoring all my apps. About halfway through it says "Insufficient Storage Space" and stops installing apps. However, when I go into my storage in the settings, it says I have 5gb available (I'm assuming this is what I partitioned out for the SS Rom Slot 1) on my device, and 28GB available on my SDcard. Is there anyway to move all the stuff having to deal with SS and ROMs to my SD card and leave the device storage alone? What is the point of having 32GB of storage space on my SDcard if I can't even use it for anything useful?
Any ideas on how to proceed?

Wait for Safestrap to be updated. There isn't extSdCard support yet. I beleive that its being worked on though (based on user comments, not the developer.)
Hit thanks if I helped you out.

You probably made the slot 1gb. Redo & try 2gb slot. Even 3gb if needed.

SD Card Issue?

Recently I can't put any apps on my SD Card. I installed a custom ROM awhile back, but it bricked. And now, when I try to install or even update an app, it says there is no space. When I go to settings and check my storage space, my SD card has all space available, but it says Application space is 0.00B.
How can I fix this?

Hmm. If you're rooted, I'm assuming, then use Titanium Backup to back up all of your apps and data, then use this link:
http://androidspin.com/2010/08/09/how-to-restore-or-recover-your-samsung-vibrant/
To odin back to stock, this will fix all of your issues, then just reflash a custom rom, preferably a newer one like Nero or Axura.

I've been using cyanogenmod ROM on my tab 2 p3100 that has been acting weird; maps force closing, black screens constantly, apps freezing for extended periods of time, and I want to start fresh. I'm going on a road trip for the holidays and would really like to use maps as they were intended.
I wiped all my personal data but there are still some pictures showing up in gallery and some app folders that didn't get deleted. My understanding is that this is all on the internal SD card. Is the ROM itself (AOKP 4.1.2) on the internal SD card also? If I were to go into CWM and format the internal SD would I lose everything and would the phone be unable to boot or would I be able to simply re-flash the ROM? if i were to put the new ROM on an external SD card would i be able to go back into CWM and flash it from there?
If I'm missing something feel free to correct me or point me in the right direction (a guide would be ideal). I've searched on various sights and can't find exactly what I'm looking for, everything seems a little vague.

i was wondered this a long time ago also bare with me as i try my best to explain what i know. so since tabs normally come with a lot of internal space and from what my knowledge is it makes the internal the default storage. for every file manager i use it defaults to the internal if you pop a micro sdcard into it the internal will still be the default apps will install on the internal only first (unless you use apps2sd or your internal has run out of storage) as for where the rom is at. yes it is inside the sdcard thats why when we buy the 16gig and we only end up with 14g its for the rom and other necessity's the tab needs to live. i dont know how you would format the internal sd card but im sure you would lose your rom if you do it. its very confusing i lost my stock backup (got the tab 2 also) because i thought the backup went to the external but it when to the internal and i wipped data and flashed a new rom. not sure if i answered your questions or answered any of them at all.

Android 4.3 storage issue

I installed various Android 4.3 ROMs (Carbon, SliemBean, PA, CM), and in all of them the internal and external storage did not work, but I saw that other people it does not happen anymore.
Is there a solution for this?
Is this a common problem for the 4.3 ROMs? Common among xt910 and xt912? Affecting both internal and external storage? Always? At random? Or any rhyme or reason?

I am also having issues with when I mount my phone as a USB storage device on my PC. The phone abruptly unmounts whenever I start file transfer. I am using PA 3.99 JB 4.3 rom. I will appreciate any help.

"insufficient storage" after ROM flash
I just flashed android 4.3 ROM on my phone (phone is Infuse 4g, ROM is CM10.2 - 8/30/2013 - Butter)
after I have restored most of my apps w/ data using Titanium Backup, I don't have any storage left (according to notifications and phone storage information - couldn't update apps, and several apps couldn't be restored (restore process stopped at 94%)
when I go to settings > storage, there's message "Storage space is running out", Total space shown for internal storage is 1.28GB, Available is 9.44MB,
however, when I connect to computer it shows that I still have more then 9GB available on the internal storage.
when I was flashing ROM, I had to go back to ICS ROM, (I've lost root access ), then 4.2 Rom, then 4.3. it warned me that it will re-partition my storage, and I may lose any data - I agreed, as I had everything backed up. now I don't really have a storage
I assume it has something to do with partitioning, but I have no Idea how to fix it, or what is the best way go around it. please help.

I have a xt910 umts_spyder, internal sd card works on first boot
after the second boot the internal sd card stops working, external sd is working normal
happens with every 4.3 ROM, I already tried to reformat the internal Storage using a 4.3 ROM
Also note that they don't mount in /mnt anymore but in /storage as sdcard0 and sdcard1.

thanks. I didn't see that same problem was listed already. will try to wipe cache/dalvic cache as it is suggested there. will report results later
it's really weird that nobody mentioned this problem on the developer's forum.

I've been using PACman V06 for a week or so now, no problems whatsoever. ext SD and USB mounting have been flawless.
As for the internal storage issue, when using Stock rom slot, or using a completely unaltered phone, the stock rom recognizes the entire internal storage, as the only partitioning are the internal storage, and the stock system partition. When you create a new slot, that rom only recognizes the partition it was created on as valid storage. This is to prevent changes to other rom slots inadvertently, I believe.
I have this issue only with some apps, titanium backup, root explorer are able to identify my intetnal. Last night I connect my phone to pc and the pc sometimes see my internal and sometimes the pc doesnt recognizes my internal...I use Slimbean for a week now. Its been doing great exept this internal thing. External storage is well recognized

I have wiped cache/dalvic cache as it was suggested before... twice... didn't help at all
also, in the CWM Recovery I saw that sdcard0, sdcard1, datadata, system and data are "unmounted"... I have mounted them all, but it didn't make any difference either (I'm not sure if it would even make any difference, or these mount/unmount setting is only for CWM Recovery, because on the next boot into CWM everything but cache is unmounted again
any other idea on what can be done to fix it?
here's another update.
I've flashed different 4.3 ROM ([ROM][JellyBean][4.3][Official]BeanStalk Build 4.3.1015 - Updated 10/27/2013 - 4.3) - same issue. next day I went back to stock, and formatted everything I could (all but "android secure") - it didn't help either. Now I have Ginger Bread, with same partitioning problem - about 1.2 GB for system and apps, and about 13 GB for everything else (I removed microSD card for now.)
I used to have all apps in one spot, and they would take a lot more space then 1.2 GB... now I cannot restore all of them from backup (Titanium Backup Pro), as there is not enough space.
I don't remember having such partitioning before I flashed it with 4.3 ROM
any suggestion? have I missed anything?

here's good reply on this problem from another forum:

the infuse is older than the galaxy nexus so theres no datamedia or mtp. the 16gb storage is typically called the internal sdcard (nonremovable) because it acts more like an sdcard and doesnt share partition and storage with the data partition. the data partition is called internal storage, which on the infuse is about 2gb, though a little less on cm10.2 because the system partition was made bigger for newer versions of android. if your having low storage issues on the data partition, youre going to probably have to move some of your apps to the internal 16gb sdcard by going into settings > apps > on sd card and moving some of them over. i would not recommend moving over apps that sync or run in the background, but if you have a lot of games, those typically move fine. i would do that until you have atleast 400mb of the internal storage free. ive talked to araemo in irc how hard it would be to setup datamedia on the infuse to combine the internal sdcard and data partition. long story short, rather difficult and it would be too big a hit on performance.

to support this, here's my story: I have already went back to Froyo, and saw that internal storage is 1.8 GB, now I'm back to 4.3 ROM, and it's 1.26 again
looks like I always had it all partitioned, but I haven't noticed it until system partition got changed and internal storage became smaller.
it might not be true for all other phones, as they can be partitioned differently, but it's true for samsung infuse, and probably for a number of other samsung phones.
I have tried CM10.2 , PA RC-2 , slimbean , and even carbon 4.3 but none of these roms detect my internal storage

the problem also appears on CM11 (Android 4.4)
i need to wipe the /cache partition bevore every boot
then it mounts the storages, but if i don't wipe it it won't mount the internal storage
so the problem has to be on the /cache partition?
Hi,
I though this issue was happening only with the 4.3 based ROMs but that still happens even with CM 10.2 ROM.
That failure is not happening all the time, sometimes you just need to wait after the boot and there is the ext-sd again.
yes i think it happens very sporadically
I've got the sdcard unmounted issue with all android4.3 roms that i've tried. Device is XT910 and recovery was BMM 0.3.4. I will use the phone with safestrap 3.65 for a while to check if it's a rom or recovery thing.

[Q] MJ7 Safestrap flashing Hyperdrive from int SD

Just switched from an iPhone 4 and I'm raring to get Hyperdrive set up. The phone is rooted, safestrap is set up and a partition is waiting, but everything I've read so far mentions putting the Hyperdrive .zip onto an external SD card. I wasn't planning to get the new S4 till next weekend, so I haven't got a micro SD card around and I won't have one till Tuesday. Can I flash the new ROM from the internal card? Also, will this method of installing a custom ROM over stock work for the S4 as well? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2521899
My guess is no, yes and that I just need to be patient for a few days. Thanks in advance!
you will be fine to move to internal or external either or. or at least it did for me

Yeah, you can install any ROM from the internal storage. Its just that, since most apps and content (photos and music) is stored on the internal SD, and TW hogs a lot of storage, its usually easier to use an SD card. However, know this, if theres not enough from to unzip the ROM, it wont install.
For example. I have a HyperDrive MK2 Verizon S4. I have a 2GB SD card that I use for music and photo storage. The HyperDrive ROM is 1.7GB compressed, and must be installed that way. However, extracting it shows its about 2.3GB or so. Because thats larger than the 2GB that SD card holds, you get an error about the zip install failing.
You can install any Touchwiz based ROM, like Hyperdrive, Eclipse TW, or BoneStock, to the stock partition easy. However, t is recommended to back up the stock rooted partition first. Just back up the .system partition, dont worry about /data or /cache or anything. If you need the space, pull the backup to your computer. That way you can easily go back to stock if you need to by factory resetting, wiping system, then restoring to system.

[Q] custom pit compatibility with Kitkat/CM11

I flashed a custom pit for a larger device memory to install more apps when I was in 4.3. I didn't encounter any problem even after I flashed CM11 for Kitkat until I got a warning of my internal storage is full when I am updating apps. I decided to move some of my apps to SD card but I received a warning of my external storage is full also.
I checked the storage information in Setting and found the original "Device Memory" & "Internal Storage" sections now both named as the latter. The 1st one (which I suppose to be the original Device Memory) still have 5GB left while the second one is full, and of course my SD card got plenty space about 16GB left. It seems the second one is treated as another SD card or what.
It seems Device Memory is a nasty invention of Samsung as other phone don't split the internal storage into two so I suspect the Kitkat in CM11(extracted from some Nexus I think) cannot work properly with that.
I just wonder how can I fix this: flash the original pit with 2GB Device Memory then let the clean install of CM11 do the magic or flash a pit with all 16GB as Device Memory?
Thank you for anyone giving any information.
