If you can use adb pull /tmp/recovery.log in recovery you can see exactly why it is failing. For example the region could be different for some reason. Such as using Flasher to get to R5a?? This would change it to US for Wifi only or Poland for +3G models

Yes i use the Flasher Tool by cordi to flash to R5a.
I mean i Flash Wifi Only.
Now have downgrade and Set it again to 120803055
for Recovery is with signed-nbx03_016-ota-120803071 in the Future.
The Recovery number is a bit tricky

Thats means your recovery must be to high of a version only thing I can guess

Not really, I managed to install R1A on a R5A recovery just fine (recovery doesn't downgrade), something is wrong with the SKU that's for sure.

It could possibly be a value within the SKU which specifies the region type.
Looks like the ID specifies either if it is old, current or new.

0: Current

Im Search for =120803055 here

The Question is, witch Firmware have set the =120803055 Number on my Tab yesterday?
This make Recovery gambling. To find correct Number and Firmware.combination.

Well it is clear that it is to do with the SKU...
According to the file name this OTA was uploaded to the Sony OTA server on 03/08/12 (DD/MM/YY).
This leaves the number "055" which specifies which region it is from and probably if it is WiFi only or not.

Rooted SG3 no updates available?

Hi
I have an SG3 unlocked and I rooted it. Baseband I9300XXLF5, Build IMM76D.I9300XXALF6
I haven't received any update and from Kies it show no firmware update availabel. Is it because I have a rooted device?
I checked in SamMobile but I don't understand which firmare or how I should download.

You can search firmwares by country/region.

I am also a bit confused with the number of firmware out there and wondering which is the latest. The only thing I know is the leaked JB firmware XXDLH4 > XXDLH6 and now the XXDLH7. Its easy to see which is newer but on the original firmware, so many different code and its just confusing

Regarding firmware based on region, I am from Blackberry. Its often ok or should I say OK to download firmware from other service provider as long the phone is the same model. Sometimes, your region or provider may not update their firmware so installing other provider's / region's firmware will actually be better. Some regions just seems to update their firmware much faster than others and providing improvements and fixes faster than others.

I will try using the Britain file.
Now that I am rooted of I need to update when JB comes out do I need to unroot?
The unroot process I've seen on YouTube imply a total wipe of the phone. A real hassle.
Any alternative?
Firmware is PDA not CSC.
Dev section Chainfires CF Root no wipe.

How to flash OTA flash files downloaded from samfirmware?

Hi all
How should I flash the OTA flash files downloaded from Samfirmware?? Should I use ADB?? If yes, can anyone tell me the commands??
I normally flash phones with SPT/RIFF box, so I am a bit rusty in ADB
Kind regards
I'd say use Odin. But just to be sure, Check the stickies in the general forum. Use the search if not sure.

If you are talking about OTA and not the full firmware..it has to be flashed in stock recovery...first make sure you have the correct firmware version on your phone..the firmware version required will be given alongside the OTA on samfirmware..now move the OTA to your sdcard..reboot into stock recovery..use vol up+power+home buttons..then choose install update from there..
I need to do this. I'll do a Titanium Backup before, but should I expect all my content, apps, preferences and all that to be intact after the procedure (presuming everything goes the way it should)?
Edit: Also, why can't I see an option for United States in the drop-down menu when narrowing down my device? Should I use some other country?

And do you know what this ota files are used for? I've an S5830 from Vodafone(Spain) and I want to get it back to the original firm (you know, operator apps and some more innecesary ****), but I'm unable to find one on the internet.
Looking at www.samfirmware.com, the only thing I've seen about my device and Vodafone is the OTA file i'm talking about, but I'm not pretty sure if flashing it will let my phone in factory defaults.
I need to flash a Vodafone rom because I wanna send it to the technical support.

Find a Vodafone Spain Rom, it should be over 200mb, then download Odin for your galaxy ace, it should be in the ace forum. Then flash it. Check the link below.

Warranty Issues: Back to stock rom but which?

hi, i flashed newest cm10 nightly and want go back to my stock because of warranty issues. but there a so many stock roms and i didn't know the one i've to pick because i don't know which firmware was originally on my phone. galaxy s iii (I9300) is from germany. which one should i pick?
thanks
Was your phone network locked if so you will need to find the latest ics build for Germany and flash via Odin and uroot if you are sending back for warranty.
If your device was unlocked you can flash the latest unbranded sw.

All the latest stock roms are at the beginning of this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646610
If your phone is network locked you will need to search elsewhere for your career specific version. These are unbranded roms just ensure you change the cschool to your correct region. Apparently it does not void warranty if you sent your device back with a stock unbranded Rom but you will be doing so at you own risk. You will also need to check that your flashcounter is set to 0 (search xda for full tutorials regarding this) all of the above is what I have found but may not be the full instructions follow so therefore please do your research first. I cannot be held responsible for anything that may go wrong. I hope I have been of some help.

My apologies that should be ''csc''. I wrote that post from my phone and did not notice that predictive text must have changed that.
If you go to http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9300 and find the last DBT release (CSC for Germany) and download that.
Please bare in mind that DBT is the unbranded csc if your device was originally carrier locked you may need to flash that for example the csc for t-mobile germany is DTM.
If you hover the mouse over each csc on this page it will tell you the country and carrier
so i think i've found the basefirmware:
GT-I9300RWDDBT
but i don't find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646610

How to flash this single file firmware using Kies.
I understand we cannot use Odin to flash this. But could not find steps to do it via kies.
Currently using custom rom.
I tried searching but couldn't find exactly.

You can remove unwanted applications and add your favourite CSC using Odin. Afaik, CSC contains language/keyboard definitions.

how do I know if its multi csc?
This is probably redundant, given that it's a higher version than ASC8, but could anyone confirm that the deep sleep bug is fixed as it is in ASC8? Thanks!

If i am on the February firmware in another region within the OXM multifile (eg: TEL), what is the best way to install ASCA with Odin - do i use CSC or HOME_CSC when installing from the BTU ASCA file (along with all the other firmware files)
My ultimate goal is to update to ASCA for the benefit of bug fixes, but i want to preserve my original CSC (TEL) and continue to receive future OTA updates my original OSC (TEL).
I am happy to factory reset if necessary. I am little unsure of the process as things seem to have changed since s6/s7 days when there was no concept of OXM multifiles.
Thanks
