K-Touch V8 Phone - Android

Hi, I've just got this chinese mobile and when I tried to root it, update it, etc., I find that there's no info on the web, at least in english (forget spanish).
So I'm gonna share all my experiences with this device.
A - How to enter stock recovery or custom recovery (TWRP in my case):
1. Power off phone.
2. Press first VOL UP button and then POWER button without release VOL UP.
3. Keep pressing both buttons until a green screen appears, then release POWER button but not VOL UP.
4. Keep pressing VOL UP button until a blue screen appears, then release it.
5. Wait a few seconds and the recovery must open.
B - How to put phone in update mode:
1. Power off phone.
2. Press first VOL UP button and then POWER button without release VOL UP.
3. Keep pressing both buttons until a green screen appears, then release VOL UP button but not POWER.
4. Keep pressing POWER button until a black screen appears, then release it.
5. Connect mobile to pc between USB cable.
NOTE: You can do this process with the USB cable connected at first.
C - Install Drivers:
1. Download drivers from my link below and unpack it.
2. Execute step "B - How to put phone in update mode".
3. When windows found a new driver, don't let it search on the web, install it yourself through Device Manager.
4. Read "Readme.txt" file from my driver's dropbox folder.
D - How to install stock rom:
1. Power off phone and disconnect USB cable.
2. Get stock rom and NvMultiDown tool (you can get the rom from web or my link below).
3. Uncompress rom to a folder you want.
4. Open NvMultiDown.
5. Specify the path, below the label: "Please select the AP file path", of the uncompressed rom.
6. Check "Don't format storage partition" option (only if you don't want to lose everything in it).
7. Uncheck "Reserved the product parameters" option.
8. With NvMultiDown open, execute step "B - How to put phone in update mode"
9. Wait until process finish then close NvMultiDown.
10. Power off phone pressing POWER for 5 seconds more or less.
11. Start the phone.
NOTE: All this process must be execute with drivers installed.
E - How to install custom rom:
1. You must have custom recovery, for ex. TWRP o CWM.
2. Copy rom to memory phone.
3. Execute step "A - How to enter stock recovery or custom recovery"
4. Install rom as usual with custom recovery.

Thanks for the info, I might be buying this phone. I had a question though and thought maybe you'd know. I'm torn between getting the v8 or v9. To me it looks like the v8 has better specs but have seen people claim the v9 is better.
V8 – $168 ( a few different sites, same price)
V9 – $249 ($209 on one site)
V8 – NVIDIA Tegra 3 Quad-core 1.5GHz
V9 – NVIDIA Tegra 3 AP33 Quad-core 1.5GHz
V8 – 1GRAM,16GB Nash flash built in – up 64GB card
V9 – 1GRAM,4GB ROM – up to 32GB card
V8 – 4.5 inch IPS Capacitive Multitouch – 1280 X 720 pixels
V9 – 4.5 inch IPS Capacitive Multitouch – 960 X 540 pixels
V8 – 1.0MP front camera,8.0MP back camera
V9 – 0.3MP front camera,5.0MP back camera
V8 – Built in Battery 1820mAh
V9 – 1800mAh
V8 – 12,511 Antutu Benchmark
V9 – 12,015 Antutu Benchmark
Just wondering if you looked at the v9 and thought the v8 was the better buy because thats what im leaning towards.

Hi, I was in your situation too before I've bought the V8.
I needed a phone with 3G (worldwide), gps, wifi and bluetooth and V8 fulfilled my needs.
Beside every features each one has, I can tell you about the V8, which I finally bought.
- Screen: Excelente.
- Response: Very good (not excelent because I'm little fussy)
- GPS: Very good (not with all roms, but with stock roms).
- WiFi: Very good, stable.
- Bluetooth: Very good (not a big requirement).
- Battery: Very poor (I'll explain bellow).
- App: I don't care, I put my owns.
- Ergonomic: Not bad, a little bit for my taste,
- Construction: Good enough.
The big problem all phone has right now is battery and V8 maybe it's the worse. Using with the screen on, I don't think it'll last 6 hours without 3G, only WiFi.
For example, a 30% in less an hour. Too much for me.
I think V9 must be a little better because the screen is smaller, but I'm not sure and I don't know, you must ask someone who have it.
There are resources in the web, not much. The problem with it is the language which is in chinese, so you must use a translator which of course its not perfect.
In general it's a very good phone for my, it gives me all I need at a low price. The difference in prices is not much, but why am I gonna pay more for something that gives me the same at a lower price ?
I hope I helped you, anything you need just let me know.

Hi,
First of all I would like to tell you that it is really nice from you to reply in such approach as you did.
I understood greatly about the V8 specs from your impressions and comments. Thank you for that.
I wonder if I can ask from you for something that means great deal for me.
I already saw some picture samples taken in the daylight with the V8, I was greatly impressed with
the camera quality.
My question for you is if you can take photos using the flash of the V8 in dark conditions/no light at all.
?
I can't find anywhere, not even from sellers or reviews about the V8 photos in the total darkness.
I'm interested to know if the V8 can take night/low light/total darkness photos.
Can you please take some photos in the darkness and upload them for me (us) to see them?
I will ever highly appreciate your help with this.
Thank you

Hi dude, no problem about darkness pictures.
Take a look at this link:

These were taken in total darkness (sorry about redundancy) without any light, only flash which is very powerful.

Thank you fafastrungen
fafastrungen, you're the best. just to let you know that you are the only source in the entire internet that shows how the V8 takes photos in darkness. Finally a Chinese phone that has a proper flash
one more question though, can you please tell me if there is a small delay when you're clicking on the shot button until actually the photo is being taken or is it immediate (like nexus 4, iphone 5, haier w910)?
i have a little kid and he keeps moving all the time, so when I have a millisecond that he's not moving, I need the camera response time to be quick.
Thank you again for the flash photos, you totally rock! like your guitar

There are differences between stock and custom rom to install.
Stock roms must be installed with NvMultiDown tool, custom roms must be installed with custom recovery, for example CWM.
Depends on what you need, just follow my guide in the right point and that's it. It's not complex once you've done one time.

No problem man, I can help you in anything you need but ask me what you want to know because there's no more steps than I've wrote in the first thread.
In short, the first step is to install drivers, second step depends on what you want to do:
- if you want to install a custom rom, go to point "E" and do what it says.
- if you want to install a stock rom, go to point "D".
Describe what you need.

Apparently, I did something wrong with Chinese recovery and can't load more than a K-Touch logo. I can boot to recovery using instruction from the first post, but neither back-up, nor ROM to restore.
So, I'm trying to install drivers and copy ROM on SD card, but no luck. All I could accomplished is a drive label, but drive is not accessible.
I'm stuck. Any ideas? Is it possible to open phone and remove SD card?

You can't remove sdcard because it doesn't exists. Phone only has internal memory.
Install a stock rom, any rom you want.
You must use NvMultiDown tool which it erase all phone's memory and set it to a factory state. After that you can start over.
Pay atention on point "D" to install a stock rom because if you don't do the exact steps, maybe you get stuck one more time, but don't worry, it's almost impossible to break the phone.
Anything you need, just ask.

[Q] Wi-Fi 5.0 Keeps rebooting

Hi,
I have a Samsung galaxy Wi-Fi 5.0 16 GB model:YP-G70EW (I think it was this update G70XXKPH)
What did I do you ask?
Click settings-about-check for updates it found one clicked okay it started to download and finished the installation
and my device keeps on rebooting. I see the Samsung logo from 19 seconds,
what should I do?
Thanks in advance.
You probably need to wipe your data and cache partition. That can be done by booting into recovery mode (Home+Vol Up+Power).
Thanks for your fast response, but the (home+volume up+power) does nothing
(Power+volup) I selected -wipe cache partition- did not work, so I chose to -wipe data/factory reset- no help also anymore tips?
By the way, in the android system recovery<3e> window. I see something else weird, This is exactly what it says
– – Copying media files...
Successfully copied meida files.
#Manual mode#
– – Applying Multi-csc...
Successfully applied multi–CSC.
I know that my English is that good but do you see something weird here or is it just me?
Does it even get into android or does it just keep rebooting from the samsung logo?
I don't think so, it shows the Samsung logo for 19 seconds(19 sec every time)and reboots.
I can't even shut the device down. Try to contact Samsung support but no response yet it's been almost 24 hours.
PS. Can anybody give me some e-mail addresses for Samsung support you can PM if you want.
Thx.

If you hold the power button it should shut it down.
The shutdown button did work, only after 10 seconds holding down luckily the screen stays on for 19 sec.

if you try flashing a kernel and rom meant for your device it should work again.. it sounds like something just got messed up with the flashing process (which does happen occasionally).
Sent from my SGP5
I have never done this how should I proceed?(Please give as much details as you can)
It probably involves a micro-SD, luckily i ordered one two hours ago, should arrive tomorrow morning.
Thx

Hi guys,
well I just got an e-mail from samsung support that I should get it serviced to get the issue fixed(after 2 e-mails they answered back, well… It's something)
They send a link http://www.samsung.com/us/support/service/request,
so I choose option 1
model code: ?? YP-G70EW but I don't see my code on their site, what the hell should I do with this.
e-mail address: (at least I know this one.LOL)
I wonder if I should have gone through Samsung Belgium
address http://www.samsung.com/be/ another problem I can't even find this product their! Or model number
Could you guys give me some tips what to do.
And bit more information about my product
Samsung galaxy Wi-Fi 5.0 16GB (with the physical bottom) so the international one(right?)
model number: YP-G70EW
And which version of Oden versions should I use, and link please.
which kernel and rom should I use link also please.
damn, I'm demanding today
First: If you really want to flash a ROM, your guarantee expires.
The version with the physical Homebutton is the international.
You should always use the newest version of Odin.
Here is the link:
http:// www.google.com/url? sa=t&rct=j&q = & esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&sqi=2&ved=0CDwQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fforum.xda-developers.com%2Fattachment.php %3Fattachmentid%3D581913%26d%3D1304094576&ei=xGh0T-_ AEqGr0QXO1JX3Dw&usg=AFQjCNF7sF0f2yJp0IxHp1ISlP2fzGKhtw
And here the links to the Stock ROMs:
France: http:// www.sammobile.com/firmware/? Page=3&t=1&o=1&m=YP-G70&r=1 #
Italy: http:// www.sammobile.com/firmware/? Page=3&t=1&o=1&m=YP-G70&r=1 #
Sweden: http:// www.sammobile.com/firmware/? Page=3&t=1&o=1&m=YP-G70&r=1 #
I know that Belgium is not included in the list, but the ROMs should work with your device.
I've had the same exact issue as yours except I decided to fix it myself rather then check it in to be serviced.
I was a complete noob when doing it and I've managed to soft-brick my device during the process, but it was fun and I quickly learned to unbrick it and flashed a new stock ROM.
That was an awesome journey into Android I recommend to anyone (recommend; no responsibilities tho).
Anyway if you decide to take this path, beware that there are several versions of the Galaxy player 5.0 (US, Europe and others), you must verify that the ROM you're about to flash matches your device version, otherwise you'll eat ****.
Anyway checkout my post and its replies, I'm sure it will be valuable to you:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1546068
Sent from my YP-G70 using XDA
I have a galaxy player 4.0 and it keeps rebooting and it's because I tried to install a custom boot logo. I can still go in download mode and Odin mode but does anyone know a custom bootloader I can install so I can access the files on my device because if I can delete the file I want to then it will work again.

I'd update by standard recovery... with the update in gadmei web site.
I'd flash it 2 times because for root the device with a wrong software i'd half brick it...

I also have this tablet, bought it on Sunday. I updated the software to the 1026 the otherday, update went as planed. It was only the 1011 (or something like that) that was bricking their tablets.
Tablet seems ok to appart from 2 big problems 1st is the wifi is really weak on mine, i need to use a mini usb to ethernet adapter to get online reliably.
2nd problem is I dont seem to be able to download anything from the play maket, I keep getting 101 download errors.
I have read that clearing the market cache, data and from google services framework and logging out from accounts on the tablet and restarting and hard reseting should clear the problem but it dosent.
Anyone else having google play problems or is it just me
The tablet seems to be recognised by google play as its in my list of devices along with my ZTE blade which still has the ability to download apps.
Thanks for any help.
Mark.

Good question, i would be happy to find somebody.. The original ICS is not that good ported. I use MyAudio 808DCC (what is the same tab with different brand name) with Gadmei ROM.
This tablet is also sold as "iToos i8". On their forum it was said 4.1 is in beta stage but not stable yet. It's not expected to be released this year (remember chinese new year begins in february).
But some custom ROM would be nice. Btw. does anybody else here have problems that the E8HD won't wake up after standby and just stay with black screen? I have to force it to shut down by pressing the powerswitch for about 10 seconds and hear some noise from speaker, then it will reboot fine.

If you have 4.0.4 ROM the simplest way is to use the attched 870s2-root.zip file (it is for Mediacom 870S2 which is a rebranded Gadmei):
1. Copy 870s2-root.zip on the root of your SD card (DO NOT extract, just copy)
2. Insert SD in your tablet then boot up by pressing Volume UP + power buttons to enter recovery
3. Wait until the recovery menu appear, then using Volume-Up and Volume-Down buttons to scroll the menu and power to enter, select "install patch from SD card" or something like that
4. You will see files list on SD card, again using volume and power buttons, select 870s2-root.zip file
5. Patch will be applied in few seconds
6. Now select "reboot" item.
Now your tablet is rooted but you need super user tool to take advantage of that.
Go to Play Store and search for "Superuser" or "SuperSu" or other tools like them, install it and you'll have a fully rooted gear.

Thank You very much. Instructions encouraged me, so I rooted with "hewuqiku.zip" by the same system. Now is rooted, no problem, everything works well. I can install app that require root.

First post so be gentle.
My Gedmei E8-hd was a bit of an impulse purchase, and it would appear from what I have researched that this may have been a mistake.
My main issue is not being able to maintain a stable wifi connection, which is obviously a major requirement for any tablet. Although, I have read devices being bricked with certain hardware/firmware combinations I have given both the latest official and the rooted version above a go. My problem is I get to the menu, choose update from sd card option, choose the file, but shortly after the update fails to run and Mr Android falls over.
Has anybody had this issue or know a reason why this would occur. In any event, would the firmware make any difference to the wifi issue?
The battery icon on my E8hd has become permanently stuck at 100%, is there a way to refresh it or clear the battery stats?
Also I see there is a newer 1128 ROM out (im on 1026). The method of instalation seems a bit strange to me. What is step 1 for?
升级方法:
(1)首先用一张TF卡来制作启动卡。启动卡制作方式 Link removed

I would agree that the wifi isnt that good, its not that bad either. If you are using WEP encryption then you stand no chance of getting a good wifi signal. If you have the choice then go with a WPA2psk encryption, it works so much better with the E8.
Im not 100% sure about the firmware affecting the wifi but I would say it does (correct me if im wrong), on my ZTE blade the wifi was quite bad with the stock Orange rom but its really good with just about any developers ROM.
As for the E8 i dont know if either of the updated roms from Gadmei have any wifi fixes/improvements included in them.

I did try to decompress the zip file but will try again and see if it works this time.
I downloaded that File in step 1 and read the word doc in there, as far as I can tell it seems to be formating the sd card as FAT32, whats the point of this as my card is allready FAT32, or is this step doing something else?
It seems a really strange thing to be doing when to install the last 1026 or whatever you just had to copy the rom zip to the sdcard like I do with my ZTE balde and install from there.
Has anyone installed 1128? how did you do it?
I installed ROM 1128 and it was a very simple job:
1. Download ROM file from the link i reported in previous post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35722947&postcount=12
2. Extract files to SD; no folder, following files should be present on SD root: aml_autoscript, factory_update_param.aml, g11refE8-ota-eng.bestidear.zip, patch_gadmei_e8t3cn.zip, u-boot.bin, uImage, uImage_recovery.
3. Reboot in recovery mode and installation will go on automatically
After installation completed, you should root your device again; you can do it with simple procedure I reported here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35936767&postcount=14

[Q] Casio G'zone Commando Custom ROM

Hello. Maybe some of you have heard of a certain phone known as the Casio G'zone Commando. It is rugged phone from Verizon, and I think it is time that someone develops a custom rom. Even with all of the bloat uninstalled, it still freezes up every once and awhile. This phone isn't very popular, so not many people have tried a get a custom rom on it. Through my research, this is what I found out: The Commando doesn't have a way to get into a recovery menu (there is no key combanation) However, I know that Getitnowmarketing has posted a working recovery on androidforums.com, but you still need to hook it up to a computer to use it. So what does this have to do with custom roms? Also, what is a bootloader, and how would I unlock it on the Commando?? I really need some help. If no one will volunteer, I may just try to pull this off, but first, I am gonna need some education on custom roms and technical android stuff. Thank you!
I have been fooling around with the commando as well, and have found that if you have it connected to your laptop and while booting up you press the power+camera+vol down buttons it will pull up a hard reset screen. During this time I also had Odin3 v1.70 and it shows under the ID:COM - 0:[COM51] highlighted in yellow. Could we at this point download custom firmware, or possibly root?
Any help would be appreciated!

That's very interesting! I think this means that there is a way to recover your phone if something goes wrong!
Unfortunately, I still don't know if this is enough. Somehow we need to get an expert to help answer our questions...
Hopefully one of our devs will be a real sweetheart and get ICS rolling on this device.
There are there no known ICS ROMs for this device???
No, there is not an ICS or JB rom for this device. I don't know if it would be able to run stock JB and ICS well considering it is 800 mhz (I've heard somewhere the recommended ICS speed is 1 ghz), but overclocking is always an option (I think overclocking is easier on custom roms). Also, JB or ICS may run better on it with some customization.
But either way, a custom rom, whether it be based on Android 4.x or 2.x would be great! I would learn how to do things like unlocking the bootloader and making custom roms, but time is an issue for me. I just wish there was a dev out there willing to do this. I would even consider donating!

Is the commando a 4g one or the first commando? I'm asking because I have the c771 but it only has 2.3.3 gingerbread
Sent from my Xperia Play using xda premium
Yeah I actually realized his is the 4g one neither version seems to have very much support of any kind I wonder if it would be possible to take the ics rom off the new one and make it work on the old one but that is far beyond my scope most I can get is a file dump from the 4g the rest would have to be left to much more capable hands lol all I can even find on the 4g version is rooting it

I've found a few methods to root it. You just need adb and google lol
My dad has the original commando, and his upgrade is in April. It's a ways off, but I may be able to make a port of CM for it from my OG droid CM7 rom since they are similar. I'm not sure yet, since I've never tried making a CM port before, but I'll give it a shot after I get my new phone and customize it around the same time. Who knows, maybe I'll be able to release a stable port for it.

Zopo zp999 upgrade problem

I try to do an update to android 4.4.2 from siswoo phone r8, where the hardware is substantially equal to zp999 with the ability to upgrade to Android 5.1.1.
I was to upgrade and touched the phone and upgrade stopped at 41%, when i reboot the phone it goes into recovery mode.
I tried a second time and the upgrade went well, but from here I can not control the phone with 3 buttons and the virtual keyboard, the numbers 1,2 and 3 are right, but the nº 4,5 and 6, to write I have to carry the numbers 7,8 and 9. the numbers 7,8 and 9 have to write the touching below them.
After I returned to the latest original rom ZOPO zp999 (ZP999_20150212-183927 kk) but remained the same.
Has anyone had this problem before?
Can you suggest me some idea to resold this problem?

Yup, i will do it for you.
After doing some research, I suspect that the problem is the corrupt drivers. could follow in the footsteps of the Chinese recovery menu (vol down + power) and did a reset factory but failed after booting.
I tested where the touch screen was sensitive and the right and bottom can not draw anything and the 3 buttons (menu, home and back) don't work.
When you start the phone, these 3 buttons light up for 2 to 3 seconds and then go out. Is it software problem (drivers) or will even touch screen?
I tried to follow this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/fix-screen-issues-t3172100/page4 but I could not do anything due to being a bit technical.
Someone could please help me?
The drivers that control the touch screen are initially loaded by build.prop file, if so it is possible to provide that file from a zp999?

Probably from hadware, need help.

Hello guys,
Here is my problem : youtube.com/watch?v=lGRq5dkg4Ow
I tried several rom (aosp, official, hermes, french rom ...) it change nothing, I really believe that It don't come from a rom but from hardware or bios (?).
It's 65€ to send it back to China so I'll not do it (they are going to refund me 26€).
What should I do ? Someone had this problems ? Can I contact a phone repairer or can I fix it myself ?
Should I try to sell it ?
I need your help guys
Nobody with info or help/link/having the same issue ?
Attempt to calibrate the proximity sensor and light sensor ... maybe help...

Why there's no lockscreen when you wake up? Does the screen light up when shows black(try to verify in dark room)?
When you reboot the device does the MI logo appear after the vibration or it delays like when waking up from standby?
i have this prob too, but only in miui 7 beta (5.9.xx)..
its gone when im using fasboot installation for installing miui 7 stable..

Are you sure it was the same ? I tried already a stable version... hum
I tried with my girlfriend if she could call me and if I could answer it.
I tried with a bluetooth headphone (there is a button on it to answer call so I don't need to push the button on the screen).
As soon as I hear ring, I push the button, for me it stop ringing but my girlfriend have to wait for my screen to show up for the call to work properly. (If my screen si black, it's still ringing for her)

this is fastboot method, not SP Flash Tool Download method.
I'll try to explain fast.
Download latest version of SP flash tool > Google search It
Install mediatek VCOM drivers to your Windows PC, if on Linux there's no need of driver. See this tutorial. For the redmi note 2 on step 4 you have to do it without the battery. The whole flash procedure is performed with removed battery.
After a successful driver installation proceed with loading the firmware in SP Flash Tool. Download the latest global stable rom, fastboot format -arround 1GB. Extract the folder that contains The MT6795-Android-scatter file, boot.img, recovery.img, system.img, etc.
Disconnect your device and remove It's battery.
In SPFT Browse for mt6795androidscatter and all the partition should load automatically in the listbox bellow. On combo box download mode choose Firmware upgrade and hit the big Download button.
Now connect your device with battery removed. and all should go smooth.
I did It on Linux, because I don't really use Windows.
Feel free to ask further questions, will answer asap.
Choosing to do this is dangerous but this is the only method that flashes preloader and dsp and uboot parts. Take your own responsibility on this!
Bye!

Well, in this case It's either from the LCD or the PCB of the device not sure how to verify right now.. Do You have another one, i mean device or at least spare LCD screen?
Best option here is to return for service.
I have Touchscreen issue on my hermes and I won't send it back because I don't want to wait another 2 months, I'll fix it on my own. The screen costs me ~28USD, so I'll go with It.
What I fear is that in Your case might be a faulty PCB. That means even if you replace the LCD the problem may remain.
Yeah I don't know...
Juste noticed the flash/light don't work either...
mmmh.
Here. Link for 7.0.8.0 global ROM for SPFT, just in case.

But it asking for the key to encrypt.
