So I've seen some threads about this here, in the Verizon section, on other forums and I just don't get it. I've already done the advanced settings tweaks, the *#0011# thing, upgraded my AC66U's firmware and it just doesn't load pages as quickly as my Note 2 or my partners S4. So anyway, I just tried disabling data in settings and using data on-off app and LTE/3G stay on regardless of this setting. Could this possibly be the culprit? I might have to return the phone if I can't solve this within a week

I keep getting "your Internet connection is unstable" in the notification panel and phone is constantly disconnecting from wi fi. Anyone else experiencing this problem?
In Wifi settings uncheck Auto Network Switch. Once I did that my wifi was fine and stayed connected.

Go to dialer, *#0011# hit menu, Wi-Fi, turn off Wi-Fi power save mode, reboot. Go back in to confirm it's disabled. As for AC66U firmware upgrade, simply go to the product page on Asus' website, download and update through the router.

Confirmed as known issue on sprint forums. Well that took long enough. Let's see if they issue a solution before my 14 days are up. If not I will never willingly purchase another Samsung product again.

Thanks, just saw it. I think this whole thing has to do with the Wi-Fi chip used in the Note 3. I remember Anand mentioning something about a cheaper chip than that of the S4 and something about extra power saving features.

Yeah, Brian had quite a bit to say about the BCM4339 combo. I wish I had paid more attention to this prior to purchasing, but I still have until late next week to return. Btw, is the one time return thing with Sprint only good for swaps, or will they do a one time return as well? Also, I got it from the website, so can I still return it in store?

, went to swap note 3 Sunday to satisfy my curiosity , the store rep does swap in front of manager and sees "Internet connection is unstable " in notification bar of 2nd note 3 handset, I showed him my htc was connected to the same network and was able to switch wi fi networks flawlessly. He claims he will talk to his Samsung rep this week and if not resolved, I could confirm by phone dissatisfied and return after 14 day guarantee as long as I call it in before. Hmmmmm.
I set up an RMA to return mine yesterday and switched back to my Note 2. Anyway, I booted up the Note 3 a few hours ago, with Wifi only (no service), and this thing is flying through loading everything. This all makes me think that this is related to 3G/4G data + Wifi both being active at the same time. I really wish I knew, but I'll test some more until the RMA kit arrives and post back later.
Edit - Actually I just realized something. My Note 2 is rooted and I use ad blocker, whereas my Note 3 is not rooted, meaning ads load in everything including speedtest itself. I'm thinking this could be part of the problem, at least with my web page load times. Hmmmmm
It must be user error my wireless works fine on multi wireless networks and I'm able to turn it off wireless when needed there are two setting in the advanced tap under wireless one is (Auto Network Switch) and (Always allow scanning When wifi is off option) when I disable those two wireless stays off till I need it. I've already done advanced settings stuff, immediately after receiving it. This is all related to ping and not maximum throughout aka what you mentioned is irrelevant.
Anyway, if you own an AC66U, disable explicit Beamforming (under professional tab). It's not even supposed to be implemented yet, but disabling it has improved my ping and throughout quickness substantially.

Return it. I had my first one for about a week. I tried all the fixes posted, but was always averaging dial up speeds with full bars. Just got replacement a few hours ago ... much better right out if the box. More like my EVO 4G where I would get 400 - 800 with only one or two bars. I am in LA area too.

call sprint tech support! i had similar poor speeds...let them know of the issue (they are more than aware of this) and they should walk you through a reprovisioning...and they'll also give you your MSL # to enter during this process...write down that 6 digit #!!! Hopefully your speeds will increase after this...if not you could try the 3g speed increase using msl....or return phone after these steps if speeds are still that bad...

Well it all started by going to a service center to get my phone looked at, those techs are dumb as nails. So after leaving with no solution I just called sprint and was transfered to a few techs and several tests they decided that my device maybe defective. He emailed me an e-ticket that says to replace the unit. Still under the 30 day window so I'm headed to the store where I purchased my phone now.

The way I got mine is I talked to the retentions deparment and told them I was on the Verizon website.
Oddly enough, the day I got my replacement, my old phone started getting "decent" speeds, but I decided to activate the replacement phone anyways... The replacement phone got worse results than the original.

Try updating your PRL, and if that doesn't work you can try switching the network mode to CDMA only in the mobile network settings menu. If you're rooted you can also use MSL reader off the market to get your MSL, or call sprint and ask for it, then dial ##DATA# and change your EVDO mode to CDMA HDR only. If using MSL reader, for some reason it only works if you install, uninstall and reinstall again.
I got more consistent 1mbps speeds, up from 500~, in the san francisco area, I don't know if they're messing around with the towers over here, but there has been reports from people that these workarounds should force the phone to stop trying to flip between EVDO and LTE
You only did two tests? Try going to the setting and changing which server it is connecting to during the test.
I average 1Mbps-1.5Mbps usually.

Did speed test and it went from an average of around 2.5 to almost 4 at times. Just remember to save a copy of your original buildprop in a safe place before doing it and fix permission at the end. Yes, it's mixed. I never put much thought about speed test, it has to many variables and isn't consistent. All I know is I have better signal in areas that I got crap in the past. I read that the setting are supposed to make sure you are getting the best service available at the time, not to guarantee lighting speed. That makes sense.

I tried the last 3, but saw no difference in speed on regular 4G or LTE (testing 3 times with and without the tweaks and averaging the results...all from the same testing host), and for good reasons. ro.ril.gprsclass shouldn't make a difference to any of us unless we have no 3G, 4G or LTE service. This only defines the speed class for EDGE, which should already be at maximum for this phone anyway. ro.ril.enable.3g.prefix doesn't affect speed at all, it is a cosmetic change that would (if it's even used anymore) apply "3G" text to the carrier in the status bar (e.g. AT&T 3G instead of AT&T). From what I've read, ro.ril.hsxpa only goes to 2, and that is enabled anyway. The hsdpa and hsupa categories are already defined for our phones, for the hardware that we have. Telling the phone it's capable of something faster doesn't mean it is.
I think any increases in speed or reliability are a result of constantly changing network conditions, and purely coincidental. A bit of a placebo effect probably isn't out of question either.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that ro.ril.enable.dtm can decrease the performance of EDGE connections, this enables dual-transfer mode for capable networks (simultaneous voice and data).
Holy crap, this worked REALLY well for me. I did speed tests before & after & I saw a major increase in download speed. Before was about 15mbps, after was 19-25. Nice!

I'm also using the ATT LTE setting also. If it actually does anything, who knows, but my H+ is on more then it was in the past.

The second 2 test are with the edits. The rest are without them in an area I hardly have service
Edit
Holly crap
Just kidding. That's wifi.

You mean the speed test app is only sh owing OK servers? There are no settings to select LA look at settings change server in the app and hopefully LA will be selectable. If not there is nothing you can really do but hope something will work.

I wish I could get those kinds of speeds.
For some reason whenever I try to make a hotspot I get this:

I dont know whats up but here is some extra info.
My parents cut me off of texting calling and data back in feburary. I saved up and got this phone full price. While at the verizon store buying this phone I mentioned I didnt have data. The guy activating my phone pulled out my new sim and typed a bunch of stuff in for a few minutes and put it in my phone and handed it to me. When I tried signing into gmail, 4g worked. Before my parents cut my data off I had unlimited. While I was cut off my family changed to shared. Could the guy at the verizon store have done something letting me have unlimited or shared with no tethering?

im guessing when your parents cut off the data, they took off the unlimited and made a family shared data plan. and to get hotspot, you have to pay extra for that, unless your rooted

Share everything includes hotspot that takes data from your shared pool.

Call Verizon and tell them you have a shared data plan and to activate the Hotspot. It should work by default.

He shouldn't need that since he's on a shared data plan. That would be nice if he had unlimited data.

The odd thing is that I may be on unlimited individually or something but on shared as a family. My data is still counted on the shared data pool but I dont get tethering.

Only way to really find out is dial *611 on your phone and click the call Verizon option and ask them and find out what plan you have. If your on unlimited data or shared data. If shared tell them the hotspot doesn't work.

That...isn't...possible. You can't be both unlimited and shared. You can't be individual plan and be family shared.

Dude you could have had this resolved ages ago by just dialing *611 then selecting call Verizon on the bottom on the list. They can FIX this issue you are having and ONLY them. You must be handicapped or something to not have called Verizon already. This is all based off the picture you posed. Based off your picture you posted you have 6GB of SHARED data which means FREE Hot Spot access.
So I guess out of the box hotspot for Sprint is no bueno

Don't give people the wrong idea. Hotspot works perfectly for me right out of the box, as I'm posting this using wifi from my 6P to my laptop. And yes, I have Sprint.
Only speculation will tell what happened with your 6P. but hotspot is working here.
Out the box it does not work for me either. However I hear through Bluetooth it works OK. I plan on trying tomorrow

What plan are each of you on as that may be an indicator of hot spot availability. It works on my but I am on a share plan that includes tethering on my data allotment.
My VZW sim the hotspot works
So I guess Sprint hotspot works out of the box if you PAY for it [emoji19]

My hotspot also does not work. I'm on the unlimited plan with no tethering. So it does seem you have to have it on the plan.

I have the Unlimited plan. I couldn't keep the Unlimited My Way plan I had with my Note 3.
Now that I've just carefully read Sprint's Unlimited Everything plan details, I see that 3 GB mobile hotspot IS included. I did not know that! BUT...since this is not a Sprint device loaded with their bloatware & security settings, & the 6P already HAS hotspot capability built in, could there be any correlation?
Anybody come from a Moto Nexus 6? If so are you happier with 6p? I love my Shamu and not sure I wanna grab 6p.. Just curious if anyone made leap from 6-6p and what ya thought....
I jumped from the 6 to the 6p. It's super nice, doesn't rock on the table, and the finger print scanner is really good, but I have dozens of micro USB cables. Having to buy a bunch of type c cables/chargers is a bit annoying since many of the ones out there are crap right now.

Honestly that would depend on when you got your plan because the new unlimited plan includes the hotspot but if you got your plan before October 16th or 17th then it won't retroactivly give you hotspot functionality. But subscribers after that date you get the new 3 gigs of hotspot included with unlimited data. You a specifically have to upgrade to the new plan. But you would have to see how that differs in terms to the one that you have now. But if hotspot was already on your plan it should work automatically as is doing for mine.
Very curious if anyone figures how to get tethering to work without root ideally.
man.... i did not know i needed a "new" type of nano sim.

I also made this switch from Shamu and have to say do it. Loved the hell out the N6 but the 6P is a way nicer phone IMO.
Blazing fast and seems more of a premium phone.

I'm having a problem with the 6P where after a call the phone reconnects at 3G instead of LTE. I live literally 300 yards from a spark tower so this shouldn't be happening . My nexus 5 never does this.
Steps to reproduce.
1. Call your voice mail , after answer ,hang up.
2. Phone is on 3G
3. After a few minutes phone switches back to B25 and after about 10 minutes gets back on B41.
Doesn't happen every time ,maybe 1 out of 3 so please try it a few times.

You could maybe try resetting your phones connection using the dialer...
#*#*72768*#*#
Then try the Update Device Config under Carrier Settings. Sprint told me that it sometimes can take a very long time for the phone to be provisioned correctly.
Worth a try answers y

Yep , did that. May open a ticket with Sprint.
