Before I install any of the custom ROM, I want to backup my existing stock ROM. But most of the applications which work for other cells like xrecovery and rom manager do not seem to work for Xperia Mini ST15i. So how do I back up my existing ROM before I start trying other ROMs.
I have read the the thread freeXperia and I am aware of the bugs in CM7.1.0 .
Can any one help me with this problem .
My cell is already rooted and is running on the DoomLord Kernel.
Thanks,
just an idea, not sure if this can be considered as a ROM backup i've just bought my first android and still have a lot to learn about it: i'm sure someone with more knowledge will come and resolve your doubt properly but in the meantime think about this:
- flash boot.img from CM7 which has recovery
- make a backup of your settings with recovery
- install CM7 and see if you like it
- to return to stock rom flash kernel.sin and system.sin which are inside the ftf file from your stock FW, and flash them; again, flash boot.img from CM7 (has recovery, remember) then do a restore of your settings. Last, flash doomlord kernel and you should have your stock rom back the way you left it before installing CM7. (not sure if would work if just system.sin is flashed without kernel.sin to avoid the reflashing of CM7's boot.img ) (i suppose it would be rooted again since that was the status when you made the backup).
that's it, some one correct me please if i'm wrong...
hey man, I m brazilian an than cold b that i dont understand your question,
but goes there, you need know 1 thing, after you'd maked a backup with xrecovery ,
could happen that not make work in to recovery, but the backup is right and working, you need make it, 1 recovery original of mobile ,2 instal the custom zip rom, 3 after all, go to xrevovery and make the recovery, from your backup, ha dont forget that reset full wipe

I am planning to backup the SGSII stock ROM as stock as possible.
I belive there are 2 options to backup the stock ROM.
1. Clockworkmod
2. RomDump
My question is, in Clockworkmod the recovery manager is modified and in RomDump, the application itself is installed and when the ROM backup is done, in both cases will the changes like recovery manager, RomDump app will also be in the back up ?
If so then I belive in addition to rooting, these are also the changes in stock ROM backup and when restored the system will not be as stock. Right ?
Is there anyother method which can take the backup as stock as possible ?
I belive RomDump would be the most nearest to stock ROM. Correct me if I am wrong.
PS: I know we have stock ROMs available for download. But I want to have my phone's version.
Hi
I have ics and i am going to install gb kernel&rom
I will make back up in my recovery now .. When i install the new gb kernel & rom can i restore all thing or i need to flash my current ics kernel to restore my current system and all thing ?
To restore an ICS firmware, you only need a Recovery. You can restore the backup from Gingerbread, but then don't forget to flash ICS kernel, otherwise the phone won't boot properly
I have been backing up the original rom because i like to try some others like the new development with the 3.1 kernel but every time i try to restore the backup it gives an error.
Is it possible to backup the Stock rom?
Hello. I am new to the world of rooting and flashing and one learn as things go. I own SGIII III I 9300. I rooted it, installed CWM, then flashed Archidroid v3.1.3, installed TWRP instead of CWM, upgraded Archidroid to 3.1.4 without creating a backup before root. It works nice and all but I would like to get my old stock ROM back with or without root, just as it comes from a factory. The thing is I cannot find an appropriate stock ROM (I am from Slovakia and my zone is I9300XXUGNA8 - there are stock ROMs with this zone but they are not intended for my country) and anyway, it would take like 9 hours to download it without buying a premium acc. Before flashing Archidroid I made a backup in CWM, it has got several files of which 2 are ISO.
My question is, if it is possible to somehow get to the clean stock ROM? I was thinking of returning to the backup I made in CWM, but I am not sure if the backup is compatible with TWRP. After restoring the backup I would just do a system wipe (including dalvik and cache). Would it work? Sorry if this has been answered somewhere but I haven't found anything.
