Phone Dropped Help - HTC Desire X

Guys i dropped my HTC Dx today and the silver rim just came out. Its looking pathetic . I don't have any HTC service centre in my city. What to do? I mean does anyone know how much will it cost?

What part of the phone is damaged? Can you post a picture?

Send it to the store where you bought it, you have probably warranty left

I can't tell you which part exactly you need to replace...

I am having the same problem here I also dropped it in muddy water but phone is fine and working it's a part of the display unit
I took it to the service centre here and they told me they would have to replace the whole display unit as it was pointless to just stick back the metal rim or ring or whatever and warranty also became pointless I was told it would cost me 5000 rupees....
Even though my display in in tact and still responsive they told me I had no option but to replace the whole display unit lolzz looks like it's time for me to get a new phone...

Cali-for-nyee-aayyy Love, brah.
Oh! when I saw your hd2. I think we should double take care of our HD2.
Thats nothing this is what i did to mine:
Lucky seen as i had insurance so i got it a new phone to replace it
have a look at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=613954&page=24
You're not the first and not the last either, I bet. It happened to me too and I fixed it myself using the tips found on XDA.
The best one being getting a complete unit (LCD + Digitizer) and not just the screen.
I paid about 100 € on Ebay for the unit, came in about 3 dayx with the special tools shown on the leaked HTC video tutorial.
If I managed to do it, anyone can, believe me

Hello,
as far as I know HTC charge about 180 € ...
But you can have it repaired cheaper when you looking arround and find a local phone store.
I know what you must feel
@ceh01:
must say that pattern on yours is best so far
Hi,
HTC quoted £120 to repair the glass.
4 more month until i'm due an upgrade
Wondering if its worth it....
:S
man, some pretty bad looking screens here. i was soooo lucky with mine the other week. i was in the shed when i knocked my leo off the bench and it landed face down on the concrete, i well an truely shat my pants. god knows how or why but i got away with a tiny tiny crack in the top left corner, it really is so small its miniscule but i'll still probably blag a new screen through the bank insurance about a month before im due to upgrade.........

Anyone else have cracks in their casing by the speaker?

K so I bought my 1st phone from expansys and had bad overheating issues. They were very nice in exchanging it for me. But now I noticed on by replacement phone there are like 6-8 spider cracks around the one side of the rear speaker. You can tell the back plate cracked from factory speaker install. Did anyone notice this on their phone? I emailed expansys again. Do u think they'd give me a hard time on getting another replacement? I hate to see the back case crack worse then it already is.

can you post a picture of the phone?
On top of that add some other issues like black screen ink marks and tell them backcover makes a sound when u click on it. That should be enough to get a refund or replacement

I can't really. Ill try. My phone is white so u can really only see them when u move it about in light.

I do have those black ink marks, im not really worried about it at the moment. What I worry is will it worse and be visible on the months/weeks to come?
this is the best attempt i could make....i can't tell if its just the glaze that is cracked or what...but come on you pay 700 for a phone it shouldn't be like that....

Burn in (or whatever to call it) from sticker!!! :(

So I just got a new Galaxy S3.
It hasn't been a day and i've noticed a kind of a shade that looks like the "super amoled" logo that's on the sticker that you peel off.
I really hadn't noticed it at first but now it's really annoying on white background.
I've found a picture on the web so that you guys can see my problem.
http://img41.imageshack.us/img41/3724/img2689su.jpg
Is there any way to get rid of this? I've tried running so called burn in fix apps but none of them worked.
I've also tried using wet wipes but it didn't remove it.. so It's not stains or anything and it appears like its burnt on the screen
Everything else is great about this phone but it's just this shade that looks like "c" that annoys me!
I have 6 months warranty but my dad bought it in Japan and he just returned from there and it's not like he's there every month so it's a bit of a problem.
If you have any solutions or if anyone here encountered the same thing please please share your experience.
Thanks in advance!

no alcohol is not dangerous (or any other liquid), as long as you do not let it seep through the sides of the phone.
I don't think that mark is inside, the plastic cover is outside and I don't imagine ever seeing a screen saver image of that type unless you have used one...
Hmmmm, its not only the c, you can see inside of the c the word amoled and on the top you can see the word galaxy s3

Was this a display model by any chance?
Could it have been exposed to sunlight with the marketing sticker left on?

No not that I know of, my father took it off.
Anyway how silly it is to put sticker on the phone if there is a risk to get burn in because of sun light?? this is ridiculous from them!
at least warn the customers.
I don't know.. it's not like a stain or something because it seems imprinted inside the screen ;(
and that photo is not mine but I do have that same 'C' right in the same location obviously from the sticker
Wtf that's some weird issue you have there mate

Return it or get it exchanged. That screen got exposed to sunlight while having the sticker on.
Probably a display unit (which you would not want to have).
Best of luck mate.

SGS3 comes in a box so does not get exposed to sunlight .
6 months warranty ????
Smells like not a new phone to me .

I think its best if you sak for a replacement ASAP before you run out of time

Ship or take to them .
Fact is standard warranty from a vendor is usually 12 months standard limited warranty from Samsung is 24 months .

According to their website there is also 6 months limited japan warranty.
I will contact them and I will also add pictures of the phone and all of the receipts..
And I see that when you ship the item to them you need to fill an RMA form so that no additional customs will be charged.

Chassi parts to buy?

Hello, i need to find a chassi replacement for my s3 since i broke my current one, the metallic frame around the device is broken and i would like to replace it, is there any web shop where i can get one?
Apparently my warranty doesn't cover this type of hardware replacements but it's apparently ok if i change it my self if i can do it "without notice" (weird according to me) so i figured i would give it a go. I have disassembled the device before to fasten the antenna that got lose in some way, so i know what i am doing.
About the damage, i kind of dropped it from a height of 12 meters and only the metal got damaged! Some kind of miracle just happened to me
Everything is working just fine except that the metal is broken, so back to the question, where can i get that part? :fingers-crossed:
[EDIT]
Url would be good, Thanks!

eBay

I'm in school right now and go to pull out my phone from my pocket and my screen wouldn't turn on. I come to see little hairline cracks on my screen but not on my glass which is odd. Now my phone turns on but the screen itself is just dead. I am rooted and running a rom so what should I do? Please help me!

OK, If you're not insured then you need to look at this video by Erica Griffin. Yes, this is for the GS3 but it really shouldn't be any different for the GS4. Her Vid on YouTube shows you how to replace the screen with digitizer and using all of the other parts from your current phone. It's actually a good video to see just so you know how easy this stuff is to do. The screen w/digitizer seems to run around $200 which is way better then $500-600 to buy a new phone outright. Just remember, I'm just giving you a cheaper option to fix it if you don't have insurance.

They claim that as long as they can't prove that the cracks were from impact there shouldn't be a problem. I'm afraid they might screw me over. But i mean the glass is completely fine and my sides have small nicks from previous small drops. im gonna try to unroot and wipe tomorrpw after school
My screen blacked out a week ago but been too busy to deal with it. Display comes through MHL onto my TV display so wonder do I need all parts mentioned? There's no crack in my display, but to my surprise the "moisture detector" sticker is tainted red (the big visible one, as I understand there are multiple stickers -- can someone confirm this to be correct?).
I may just take a risk and request replacement over the phone. Once or more in the past, I've had a warranty period issue replaced with the warning "...if its determined to be your fault, we will charge you the full retail price" and I've sent them bootloader unlocked, watermarked phones and they let it slide. There truly was no submersion or even open case exposure to water, I'm not sure how sensitive this particular sensor is to humidity or moisture through an enclosed back.
Anybody else surprised to see their "watermark" turn red when they feel it should not have been? From past experience having phones replaced via phone support, I'd wager they take my rooted, broken-display phone and never charge me for it.........................I been with VZW a decade and a half and then Bell Atlantic Mobile and planned in about 220-250 consistently for nearly a decade.........I'm not saying VZW is prone to show courtesy for longevity, but this could be 3-4 such instances in the smartphone era of questionable watermarks of rooted and flashed-to-hell Blackberries including blatant cracks...............
