Need to unroot and return to stock - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

I need to unroot this Sprint GS3, so I can sell it, but I don't know how it works on the GS3. I've rooted a VZW GS3 and put CM on it, but I never had to take it off cause when i sold it in order to get the new Note 3 (which I can't wait to be able to mod) the guy wanted me to keep it Rooted. So Can someone link me to a guide to doing this, I've found a couple on here, just don't know which one is the best route to go with. It currently has the MOAR ROM on it and CWM.

So what type of phone are you trying to unroot? Is it the Galaxy Note 3, or another device? If another device, what is the non abbreviated name so we can point you in the right direction.

Unroot and return to stock

I am in need of some quick assistance. I opened my case to my GT10.1 this morning and found a scratch. I have until tomorrow to return this and plan on doing so at lunch today (about 3 hours from now).
Being as I am rooted, how do I un-root and return to stock?
Do I just flash this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1118132
and if so, do I flash it from recovery or what?
I'm not sure that would unroot the device. In this thread there's a link to the stock rom, but again, I don't believe that would unroot. Where did you buy it? I'm pretty sure they'd probably just take it back anyway. Chances are the employees won't even be able to tell its rooted.

Actually, I went ahead and flashed the 3.1 OTA which does indeed return it to stock/unroot as the apps the required root are no longer working. However, you have to do a wipe as well to remove all of your apps/data/etc. Afterwards, I hooked it up to my computer and removed all of the non-stock folders.
I got it from Best Buy and since I'm a premiere silver customer, I have 45 days to return with no re-stock fee . Honestly though, I just want a new one.
The only thing I'm not sure on is the recovery. I did not check that to see if it was still CWM or not. I'm guessing they won't even check that though (or hoping rather).

You'll get a blank confused stare if you mention the word recovery. Its good to know that its that easy to unroot. I wonder if odin can remove the custom recovery. I really have little to no knowledge of these things.
You have to ODIN stock recovery as well.

Not familiar with ODIN at all.
Care to explain/shed some light on it ?
Returned/Exchanged at lunch. No questions asked
I'm sure they had other things on their mind at customer service. If it were geek squad it might be another story, those nerds are on to us!

lol...True.
So I had them put on the Invisible Shield while I was there (this way I avoided doing it and no finger prints). I let it sit in my office over the weekend then turned it on today. Come to find out, a brand new in box that I have has the locked bootloader . Luckily, I read up on things and have since rooted it.
So let me get this straight, you scratched your device and returned it for a new one? That doesn't seem wrong to you?

First, I scratched nothing. It was in a protective case (Belkin Case) in the same spot overnight not moving. Nothing touched it, nor did anyone. I opened the case (lifted the flap) and there was what looked like a small scratch. As I looked at it more, there seemed to be more of a dent to the scratch than anything. Maybe it was a crack, either way I'm not sure. Regardless, I returned it as in my opinion, this was not caused by me, and was more than likely a defect. This is suppose to be (as I've been told) Gorilla Glass, which I believe is hard to scratch. Nevertheless, my device (which was under coverage/warranty/within return time frame) was flawed and as such returned. If it was something that I had done, things would be different.
Anyways, back on topic (thanks for the de-rail/non-helpful/offtopic post). It was easy enough to un-root and just as easy to get things going to root the new device even though it was locked. Thanks to those who provided useful information .
This looks like a good place for me to ask my question...
I'm getting a used GTab 10.1 (should get it tomorrow) but it's coming rooted and running a custom ROM. I'm a noob when it comes to rooting and romming, especially on tablets. I would really like to unroot and flash it back to stock, but I'm not sure exactly how to do that. The OP said that it was pretty easy, but I'm not sure what I need to do, or what ODIN is, and how that would help me.
If anyone can help me out and give me a few pointers, it would definitely be greatly appreciated.

I recommend reading the sticky thread in the Development section. This will have all the files you need to return the tab to stock. It will also help you with..
What clockworkMod recovery is. How to flash the stock ROM zips, and/or Use the Odin flashing software to flash stock recovery and do a full wipe of the tab.
There are some youtube videos out there as well. Read lots and ask questions!
Also check galaxytabhacks.com. it have videos of rooting, unrooting, installing custom ROMs etc.

Sorry to completely hijack the thread, but I've got everything I need downloaded (I think). Picked up the files for dummies zip in the developer thread and I watched the video on galaxytabhacks.com (and I'll probably watch again). I'm supposed to get the Tab today, so if I have anymore questions, I'll be back here.
Thanks to both of you guys for your advice.

Need stock rom to unroot so I can return Gtab

I need the stock rom( I have a backup of the stock but not sure if that would remove root or not.) Also cannot remember if I backed up before or after root. If anyone has any info on this I would greatly appreciate it. I am returning 16gb unlocked white Tab. No issues just realized I don't have a lot of use for it Only had it for 6 days. If anyone would like to purchase it just pm me, I will be returning it in 3 days.

Actually, I have come across many workers who have not only know about rooting, but have asked for advice about it when I showed interest in it. So don't count them all out, its safe to just unroot and return rather than save 5 minutes and get rejected at the store.

They wouldn't even know what to look for. You gotta remember, customer service at best buy has to deal with everything in the store. No way they could spot it.

[Q] Advice on buying Samsung Galaxy S4 phone with ability for unlocking it

Hi all,
I am currently with Verizon and would like to get Samsung Galaxy S4 phone without changing my plan hence continue staying with Verizon. One option is to pay for a legitimately unlocked phone which is expensive (~$600) another one is to buy a phone from someone (~$350) and if it is not Verizon phone then possibly unlocking it.
Now my question is:
What version of firmware I should be looking for when buying a phone from someone and what carrier? Or does firmware version is all I need to worry about?
Your help will be greatly appreciated.

It really doesn't matter what firmware version it's on as of now... there's no unocked bootloader, but there are ways around that, of course. I had my s4 rooted with custom recovery within 15 minutes of unboxing it and built my first Rom for it within a few hours, so..... Look here:... study it a little and feel free to get your s4 and flash away!! Hope this helps

So, the way it works, I need to root the phone and that will give me an ability to go between carriers with no problem?

ME7 Galaxy s4 - huge disappointment

So, I have the sch-i545 with the me7 update. It was preinstalled on my replacement phone so there was nothing I could do to prevent this predicament(other than not breaking my phone and needing a replacement in the first place...boo) Anyways, I have been considering replacing this phone one way or another and I was looking for any advice from the community here at XDA on a suitable replacement. I love the seemingly endless power of this device and don't really want anything less. I have heard a few things about the Note 3 but I was wondering if that would even be worth getting due to the way Samsung and Verizon are cracking down on locking their bootloaders. Will the Note 3 have this same problem? Are there any similarly powered phones comparable to the s4? Money is definitely an object for this endeavor so keep that in mind. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Sucks to hear you had me7 pre-installed. The only suggestion I can make is do an insurance claim and said you lost the device. When you get a replacement, if the replacement has the mdk firmware, root it fast and set it up. Then say a good samaritan returned your phone. This will at least allow for you to have a clean esn and you can sell the phone if you don't want it.
Rooted S4
I've got no suggestions for a phone that's out right now that is better.
If root and recovery are attainable on the Note 3 I will be buying it when it comes out. No reason for me to get a phone I can't build things for. But the note 3 sounds like it's going to be disgustingly fast and perfect in every way... unless it never gets root and recovery. :good:
I'd like an unlocked bootloader but that alone won't stop me from buying it.
Customs roms are cool and all. But when I had my gs3 root was enough for me. I didnt even run a custom launcher because Tw was responsive enough imo and had basically every feature I wanted in a launcher, about the only thing I wanted was the ability to create folders in the app drawer. I had ran the phone stock rooted for close to a year before installing synergy on it, then my wife got it when I upgraded to the gs4. I know this probably isnt an answer you wanted to read but I wanted to throw in my .02 about only having root.

Root alone is alright with me for now but I really would like to run a custom recovery on my phone so I can get back on the Hyperdrive ROM. Call it laziness but there are some mods that I really don't enjoy going through all the work of manually applying them when flashing is so much easier/quicker. I have been researching the Ubuntu Edge which looks promising. The Note 3 looks incredible and if I can find a buyer for my s4 I will likely be switching regardless of the bootloader/recovery situation.

samsung s5 G900A 4.4.2 (kitkat) root help

Ok so i have looked for almost 2 whole days for answers before finally making an account here (and stop being a lurker for some time). I have a samsung galaxy s5 with 4.4.2 (kitkat) OS, model G900A (that means from ATT) and the kernel was made in jul 22, 13:58, 2014. which means i cant use towelroot for whatever reason. my sim card is metroPCS though and i have no warranty so all i care about is not bricking my phone without a way to get it back, cus i dont have another 400 to drop on a phone. i have rooted a phone before so i know alittle about this stuff but im not an expert. through reading it seems i have to flash my kernel with an old version and root it, then bring it back to normal. the closest i ever got to actually doing this was with the help of this site " w0lfdroid(dot)com/2014/09/TowelRoot-Samsung-Galaxy-S4-S5-and-Note3-Android-4.4.2-NF-or-Later.html ". problem is the file that is for the ROOT link for the G900A does not work so i need either a new link or a new way to root. i figured this would be the fastest way to get that.
even though i do have a bit of knowledge i see that others dont so if someone dose decide to help me i would like a good step by step process explaining things that a normal person just walking into this wouldnt get. because not everyone looks up their stuff and thats not their fault its alot of research just to take of bloat ware potentially.
thank you in advace
