Soooooo, let me tell you whats going on I rooted my phone (Worked fine)..... Then I went to install Hotspot (Failed) And my phone was stuck on the Sprint screen. So I tried to throw a rom on it and it (failed). Now I'm trying to use Odin to go back to Stock and I'm getting "MD5 hash value is invalid" I need HELP!!!!! lol
Check the MD5 of whatever tar you are trying to flash. Josh's MI5 has a MD5 posted so you can check to make sure the d/l went through properly. Alternatively, you might want to flash the latest version of TWRP in Odin and immediately boot into recovery before the phone reboots

I have TWRP on there and I've tried Josh's Rom it didn't work and I've tried several Tar files
You can get into TWRP w/o a problem? If so, what happens when you try to flash a rom or restore a backup?

When I try to flash a rom it fails
So you can get into download mode and you can get into TWRP but when you try to flash a MI3/MI5 tar in Odin it will not go through...and you are sure that the tar files are not corrupt?
And the rom zips are definitely not corrupt that you are flashing in TWRP?
I would say that if you can access TWRP and still get into Download mode you are not bricked. I would PM Josh or Freeza and ask them for advice.

I would ODIN TWRP again and uncheck auto reboot. Then manually boot into twrp and try flashing a rom again or restoring a backup.
You need to have a rom or a nand on your internal or external storage. Flash twrp via Odin and immediately go into recovery and flash the new rom or nand. That will get you back and running. Remember, after you flash twrp you need to hold the vol up/power/home buttons as soon as you hear the disconnect sound on your pc. Good Luck!

I installed twrp2 on my I717 Galaxy Note and want to return back to CWM. Does anyone know how to do this? I have all my backups in CWM and want to go back.

I found cwm sketchy with backups and switched back to braways. I had cwm touch installed and ROM manager(finally supported) but the issues were too many.
I found using "flash touch recovery" from my tools in aospxxx works nicely.

You are right! I should have been more specific! I know better! The error is: "No applications can perform this action."
Are you sure that's a recovery flashable zip, and not just a zipped up .tar package for Odin?

The file contains a directory called META-INF and recovery.img...
That's for recovery, the Mets-inf folder is the script to write the recovery.img
That's weird, You may try downloading the zip fresh, or if ask else fails grab the Odin flashable tar and use that.

Now, I can run TWRP and run it from there without any ill effects (meaning, a bricked phone!), yes?
Yup.
Given you download the correct file for this device.
If that still fails, which I dunno why I would, it should go without saying The Odin file, will need Odin a pc and a Usb cable

That has the Odin flashable cwm touch file... that version is outdated so after flashing that, you'll have cwm, but flashing a newer Rom zip might end up with a "status 7 error" in recovery.
At that point I'd personally use goo manager go grab the latest version of a cwm zip, that'll be usable in the version of cwm I posted above.

Are you saying I should _not_ use TWRP to put CWM on?
No, it should work, just saying if it still gives you the proverbial finger, Odin is your friend and that version is just the latest with an Odin .tar
So to have your cake (cwm) and eat it too (flash new roms) you'll need to update your recovery from that older version of cwm
So you said you get an error when you tap to install? You should be flashing that zip in recovery like you would a ROM or mod. Is that what you did? After it installs just reboot recovery within twrp and bam!!! You'll have cwm.
Thanks so much for your help...my problem remains, so I may go back to a stock ROM for T-Mobile, since that is my provider, and see if I can solve it... Before I installed CWM, I could sms/mms to my e-mail address...I can't any longer.
I had used ROM Manager to update CyanogenMod and now it gets stuck in the boot mode. I got it to go into recovery but there is no backups and I had backed up just prior to upgrading. I hooked the USB cable to it and can't see any files at all on the SD card. Any help out there is appreciated in gettig this up and operational again.
If you can go into recovery then wipe everything, boot into download mode, connect to pc and flash stock rom via Odin. Then you can start all over again.

You can find firmwares for your Samsung Device at SamMobile.
Just make sure you're logged in.
Ok, I'm at work so don't have a lot of time to get into details. Here it is in a nutshell:
I used Josh's MI5 tar to return to stock so that I can get that MJ5 update (if that's what it's called)
That went through w/o incident. However, in my haste I went to Odin and attempted to use Chainfire's root method to regain root on MJ5.
Needless to say that was a huge mistake. It froze during Odin and I was forced to disconnectand pull the battery.
I'm still able to get into Odin but it will not accept the MI3 or MI5 firmware. It gets an error after a few seconds. If I try to get into stock recovery I get FIRMWARE UPGRADE ENCOUNTERD AN ISSIE. PLEASE SELECT RECOVRRY MODE IN KIES AND TRY AGAIN.
Anyone have any advice other than attempting to return the phone?
I'm so pised at myself for making such a dumb mistake.

I had the same problem and this is how I resolved it.
1) Odin CFautoroot
2) Odin TWRP
3) Boot into recovery and either restore a backup or install ROM of choice.
Don't sweat it bro. Simple fix:
1. Odin Twrp recovery
2. Boot into Recovery right after Odin passes you.
3. Flash a Nand or Rom.
4. Good to Go!
*Also, if you don't have a nand or backup or don't have a Rom downloaded, just download one and put it on you sdcard and then flash it. No need to wipe or factory reset. Rom of choice at this point should be Freeza's Mj4 or any mi5 rom will do!
*Stay away from Kies, waste of time...
Starting to look like the mj4 bootloader changed. Probably to try and prevent the knox safe root method by not allowing downgrading.

OMG, thanks a million bro! I Odin TWRP and it immediately booted into my stock MJ4. I missed the opportunity to get into Recovery right after Odin TWRP. Now when I try to manually get into recovery it takes me to stock recovery.
I'm so afraid of doing anything at this point and am just happy to have a working phone. What would be the best way to go about restoring my nandroid? I'm assuming I should ODIN Twrp recovery again but this time don't allow it to reboot the rom? I'm so nervous I just need some more confirmation before I do anything!
I love you guys in this community...someone always comes through over here when I'm in utter despair!
Boot into twrp recovery and flash your back up. . Once you flash twrp recovery using Odin you won't have to do it again.

Are you saying that after TWRP is flashed via Odin you have to immediately go into recovery? Because after I flashed TWRP in recovery the phone automatically rebooted back into the rom. After this I turned off the phone and tried to manually boot into recovery but it took me to stock recovery despite having just Odin TWRP a few moments earlier. Hope that makes sense.

Once you flash twrp via odin you have to go into twrp recovery before your phone reboots. I usually hold power up, power, and home button right after I hear my pc beep (like when you disconnect the usb). Once in twrp, flash away!

When flashing twrp in odin it may help to uncheck auto reboot. Then when it finishes boot it into recovery manually. That way you don't miss the window.

mark,
I have messed up my device. It has phil recovery on in and beans b7 version in there. I can boot into recovery but every time after beansintall it kicks me back into download mode. I have done a twrp like backup using phil recovery but I get and error ( is prob corrupted),
Any ideas how to bring this back to life? I have an MI1 version on it. with a Y it was.
Maybe there is an aroma setting in which I can flash and boot.
Any odin tar images?
I have tried the tar below but it cannot get the aboot.

Yes it is a developer. I have tried only the tar in the link above. it did not get pass aboot.bin and some other file.
the recovery is intact and I have beans b7 rom in a zip on the phone. I was hoping that maybe there is an aroma combination I can use.
Also in Phil's cwm there is the option to disable the loki at the dev ed does not need this.
I was wondering if there are any factory tars out there for the dev edition
thanks

If you want CWM why cant you just install ROM manager and install CMW from there? CWM should install and replace TWRP with CWM.
