i just read on the international note 3 forum on xda that a guy had to bring his note 3 in for service and the service tech noticed that his knox was triggered but still fixed his device and was able to reset the knox counter back to 0x0. so it seems that it can be reset and its software related. ill post the link so you guys can read it

They recently had the Samsung developers conference with the head of the Knox app. He stated that knox is more about security of the information device. So if you use the phone for work and have sensitive info on it it won't be easily compromised if its lost or stolen.
Also yes knox has some type of counter that says if you or something attemped to access the inner framwork of you device, but he also stated the goal was to allow the user to run custom roms but still protect data/info leakage into the wrong hands..ie Id theft,,codes etc.
so if you think about it...it should be/ could be reset with someone know how after indicated and fixed. i guess if there is a IT person at your provider's store that is allowed to do so.

No problem.
There is a new ROM that takes care of this problem. But you have to install that ROM. Just go under development there are only a few there.

I think you are misinformed. KNOX cannot currently be subverted.

That is correct - some have said (those that know more than I) that tripping knox blows a Q FUSE which as I understand it is a phyisical attribute on the phone not a software attribute - - to UNDO that would be impossible without a soldering iron of somekind -)(joking) but there are tons of QFUSES avaialble from what I have read - and it seems that Samsung and maybe even the carrier tech staff have a way of "Reassigning" the QFUSE or someting - as many phones taken back for repairs are returned with Knox reset to 0.
I may be completely wrong in the way I am describing this - as I am not developer and have only read a bunch about it - much of which was way over my head - but that is my interpreation of how it works (on a very simple level)
For the record, I ran Triangle Away on my TMO S5 without any issue. I'm not sure if it worked as I have not checked.. but it did not brick my phone.
Also, this is the first I've heard of this KNOX chip and hardware tampering system. It is very possible to construct a loop that is designed to blow a fuse; thus triggering a desired software effect. HOWEVER, its still software which means that (in theory) its still possible to work around. If all of this is true, it will only be a matter of time before we have a work around.

wondering any update did it work or not ....i need to send my phone in and wanted to know
There is currently no way to reset the Knox Warranty flag on a G900T (and most other models) once it has been set to 0x1. Triangle away does not work. Tons of threads on XDA about this, and much more discussion can be found with a simple Google search.

Don't send it in. Go to a retail store. Less chance of them checking.

Triangle away will not reset your Knox flag.
The flag can be reset in theory and has actually has been reset under controlled conditions in Development threads. But don't expect an end user solution to materialize anytime soon. For all practical purposes, a Knox flag is irreversible.
Sending a 0x1 phone to Samsung for warranty service will inevitably get it returned as unrepairable i.e. a refused warranty claim. If you live in the EU you can argue with them as their are stronger consumer protection laws ostensibly preventing them from refusing a claim unless they can demonstrate that your root damaged the phone.
For anyone elsewhere, it's more effective to claim warranty through your carrier. Many carriers don't care about Knox.

my friend just took a GS5 back to tmobile because he basiclly bicked it and was to impatient to drop iot off at my house to fix it. They gave him a new one no questions asked and knox was tripped ..Its like they dont even care .. If you have premium handset protection it dont even matter if you trip knox . I think they would rather get a knox tripped phone rather than one that has a cracked screen ..The sales people up there only know how to do one thngand that is a factory reset to solve any and all problems .LOL.The last thing tmobile wants to do is keep you from having a phone.
T-Mobile does not check if Knox was tripped. They don't know how to check it anyways. Just make sure that if they ask, do not give an impression that the phone is rooted.
I bricked my phone & brought back to Sprint & got a new one without a problem... Thank God!

Some info in this thread is false, but this user explains it correctly. Triangle away is not about the Knox counter but about the Flash counter, which counts if your phone has been flashed. And on some devices it counts how many times you've flashed. I've attached a screenshot to clarify
The OP question, if triangle away works wasn't answered that i saw. I boldly tried it, with TriangeAway version 3.26 on an international SM-G900F with Polish Lollipop rom ...BNL9 version. The phone was Odin flashed with official Polish firmware to upgrade to 5.0 lollipop and then rooted with CF autoroot. And on this device TriangleAway worked! Flash counters were reset to official. Knox still tripped of course.
Nice Thread. I have some more questions about this topic. I have a S5 with Phoenix ROM.
I don't care about knox or warranty, but for cosmetic issues I would like to have this SEAndroid Enforcing Thingy go away. So may I ask what part of the system reports This message. And what does SEAndroid mean? If this is some kind of certificate or other property? How will the phone know if, for example, Android 5.3 comes out? Or will that use an old kernel the phone already knows?
What are the chances someone makes a custom kernel that is SEAndroid Enforcing?

Triangle away will not remove it. Only way to remove it is to run 100% stock kernel
Could not someone edit the text to Kernel ready for CPUSPEEDENFORCING? Or Kernel Is too smart for the phone? P.S. Your answer was already given. I asked something else.
In an effort to reclaim the thread and keep it going (as for a question that I have as well), what is the hardware effect that the QFUSE breaking causes? My Knox was tripped before I received the phone, and the only noticeable flaw I have (not sure if it is Knox related because I received the phone by a trade) is that within my back camera pictures, I have three black spots that look like burns (snapshot attached). Could someone help me out?
Hi All,
A lot of phones these days, especially Samsung ones (S3 and up, Note 3 and up etc) and potentially Nexus devices of the future will probably come with KNOX installed.
For those that don't know, KNOX is an enterprise feature for businesses developed by Samsung and Google that allows them to sandbox or section off their apps from yours in a BYOD type scenario, its also relevant for Samsung and i *think* google wallet in that it will stop you using them although i could be wrong about the latter (google wallet).
KNOX has a security check which once tripped cannot normally be unset and is triggered by root, once triggered KNOX will not work, even if you go back to complete stock.
This means that if you want root, or to install a custom ROM, use Xposed etc your not going to be able to do so without PERMANENTLY changing the KNOX bit.
Most of us probably wont use KNOX, but i did wonder if there is any hit on the devices with tripped KNOX in relation to resale value, for example on the S3's and Note 3's and above has it been an issue selling on?
I've got an HTC One M8 at the moment, without KNOX, rooted and Xposed installed and am eyeing an S6 which does have KNOX, but likewise i dont want to buy something i cant sell on.
Has anyone had problems selling a KNOX tripped phone, do buyers see it as an issue or not care due to its limited use? What's your thinking on it?
Hi all,
I couldn't find anything on Sprint/Asurion insurance that makes me comfortable tripping Knox. I'm clumsy and poor and need to be able to have the phone fixed for free. That being said, street much reading, I think my best course of action is:
- Factory reset
- I'm on OC5, so flash NH7 using Odin
- Factory reset
- Use towelroot
- Hope that Knox won't trip
- Enjoy TiBu and other root benefits
- In a year when I can afford paying the remainder due on this phone to get a new phone using Easy Pay, stop caring about Knox and install a custom recovery and all the ROMs
Is this technically/theoretically possible? Am I missing anything?
I heard towelroot steals IMEI and other personally identifying info. I also see that it requires "phone number and identity" when installing the apk. Is this necessary as part of the exploit to gain root? Does XDA endorse towelroot or support it as legitimate?
Thank you in advance!
Sprint doesn't really care about Knox, Samsung does.
Tripping it does not affect functionality of the phone and if anything, only inhibits your experience with the phone.
I tripped it an hour after I bought the phone and haven't looked back since. I also cracked my screen and had to make insurance claim...Sprint didn't say a word about it being tripped.

I saw that poll. Helped me decide that if my Knox is tripped during a root method that ISN'T supposed to trip I wouldn't cry over it. Still, I read that tripping Knox will prevent Knox app functionality and my company may use it, so I don't want that to be a problem either.
I'm still looking for verification that towelroot won't steal my phone info.

Where do you "hear" these rumours? Links? First you said cf auto root was bad cause you read that somewhere, no link and now this. Knox doesn't matter at all if you're clumsy. One has nothing to do with the other. You break or lose your phone insurance isn't going to ask if you tripped Knox. If you download any apps at all then you should be reading what they have access to when installing. Lots of legit apps access your phone information. Pretty sure Knox is one of them. Fyi I'm on easy pay now and I'm not a millionaire and I don't care that I tripped Knox. Root and start living life to the fullest lol.
I can't say for certain, but I believe my camera was working fine when I first got it. Today, I've noticed a tiny black spec in every photo and video I've taken recently. It even shows it on the preview screen. Like I said, I'm not sure if this spec was present since day one or if it just happened recently, but it's weird. I've dropped my phone a few times but I have a protective case, so I doubt they should have had anything to do with it.
A good example is visible on the white deer. The protective film is peeled off.
I don't know if I can take it in, as I've tripped KNOX. Do I have to deal with it or is there another way to fix it? Do repair technicians usually check KNOX?
Seems like a spec of dust is on lens or sensor. I would bring it in for repair or exchange. As far as knox goes, depends on where you are. I work for a big computer chain in Canada and we used to be Authorized Samsung Service Centers and we never were told what knox is even is at our training. The only thing we check is mostly the water sensors and physical damage. Some people have other experiences in other countries.
As long as you don't bring them a heavily root modified phone, you should be OK. Just restore to stock and if they give you any trouble, act innocent, as in you have no idea what rooting or knox are. There are cases of knox being tripped by accident by some legit process like restoring phone through odin or something else. And if they as you how this could have happened, just tell them you followed a support thread on some android forum that suggested you use odin to install stock firmware.

Thanks for the info! I'll bring it in and see what they can do.
This is my first Samsung and I rooted it straight away with no research assuming a stock ROM would restore warranty but as I've gone to find out it doesn't, but my knox thing is 0x1 can I reset this and the finger scanner doesn't work is this because of root? I'm looking to seel the phone eventually and wanna like reset make it seem as new
After triggering knox there is no known way of reseting it/reverting it back to 0x0 so the only option to make it look like its new is wiping it all clean and flash a new stock rom with odin. As for the fingerprient problem maybe you need to try diferent version, because alot of people reported the same problem after flashing the lolipop.

Triggering Knox in (by far) the most cases does not trip warranty *as long as you revert to stock*. It ever reads it quite clearly right there "knox warranty" is tripped, not "phone warranty".
Knox is Samsung's system securing personal data integrity (among other things), once you trip it Samsung cannot "guarantee" for them ... so -yeah- your knox is tripped, you warranty isn't...
So yeah, flash away. This is the third Samsung device that I tripped knox without second thoughts (I even used the warranty to my other two devices with tripped knox)...

Well, OK. Maybe your country is different, in mine it is as stated. It's possible that property rights are different between different countries (in many/most western countries taking full ownership of a product is fully covered by the warranty, purposefully destroying at product with said ownership is what kills warranty),..
