where is google play music artist info? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Where is the artist info(bio etc) in the google play music I can't find it. I tried selecting to go to artist but it just shows top songs, albums and related artist no bio. I remember it being there somewhere and the info being the same as spotify but now it's gone , I tried several big artists to make sure

Anyone?

bumb

Not a single user of Google music on this forum?

3 bumbs and 2 days later and not a single reply to such a simple question...

Why is no ons answering thuis simpele question?

I've noticed that they are missing as well.
Most likely its one of two things here;
1) Google may have decided to remove the artist info pages feature temporarily or permanently. If this is the case what we could do is get people asking for the feature again on feedback and reviews.
2) the artist info pages may be missing due to a problem in a recent update. If this is the case all we can do is report it to Google, and wait to see if it's back in the next couple updates they roll out
I hope this helps you with this

[Q] Index/Multimedia limit

I asked this question on another forum (ArchosFans) but it was never solved or even remotely figured out. Anyways, I have a very large music collection (about 26,000 songs) and I bought the 250gb model of the Archos 70 so I could hold it all on the device. However, once it scans the media (which takes around an hour for that many songs) it mentions it can only index 20,000 items. Is this a limit by Android or Archos? Have any of the custom ROM/Kernels changed this limit, or is it possible by editing a system file with a rooted device?
There's also the problem that some bands don't even show up in the library but do in the storage, has this been solved in any way? Is it because of the ID3 tag type? Most of my tags are IDE3v2.3 (IDE3v1 IDE3v2.3) or something along those lines.
Thanks for your time and I hope this wasn't already asked/answered somewhere, I did a few searches but didn't find anything.
I have exactly the same problem with the 20,000 limit - I contacted Archos tech support about this yesterday (saturday) and they replied today (sunday - good service guys!) saying that they're working on a solution, so I'm hopeful that this limit will get removed, or at least extended - but I don't know how long it will take them to find, implement and ship a solution. It's also still not clear to me if this is a core Android issue, or something Archos did. I can well imagine that this is the first, or one of the first Android devices with enough storage to actually exceed 20,000 songs.
As far as files not appearing after scanning - I've found that files which have a different "artist" tag to the "album artist" tag seem to get indexed under artist "Various Artists" rather than either the artist or album artists tag - so perhaps some of your files are in there, and not where you're expecting them? Other than that, maybe they were amongst the 6000 songs that didn't get scanned, as clearly only 20000 of your 26000 will have been indexed.
Hey thanks a lot for sharing this info with me, if they are looking for a solution I'm assuming it's an Android limit, probably implemented before companies expressed interest in Android on tablets, and especially with that 250gb limit. I'm also assuming there's a possibility Archos didn't have over 20,000 songs to experiment with.
I ended up going through and removing a bunch of songs, and I think it put me somewhere around 19,000, but the device still indexed 24-25 thousand files, which is weird, I don't have any pictures or videos on the device, and I made sure to delete every folder.jpg file in the music collection. Any ideas which folders and file extensions it scans for?
I might toss Archos a quick email regarding the issue like you did. I'm not expecting a different reply, but I'm hoping they're the kind of company that will prioritize features/fixes that are more often reported since they know it's an issue more users are experiencing.
Thanks again for the reply, I'd appreciate any further information you find out if you for some reason remember this post.

[Q] Hierarchical structure in Stock MP3 Player - unfunctional? (PowerAmp comparison)

Hey XDA crew!
I´m impressed by the sound of our new SGSIII (bla, bla, worshipping the S3 etc. ).
BUT what I really dislike (and what I´m hating on many audiosoftware products like e.g. the M$ Media Center as well) is the following:
When you are using e.g. PowerAmp, you can see that there is a well organized hierarchical structure when scrolling through your mp3-tagged audio library. For example, when I´m sorting my music by genre, the following screen (after tapping on genre) gives me a list of all artists IN that genre...tapping on an artist there gives me a list of all his/their albums. Easy, neatly arranged, clear.
And this is what it's like in the SGSIII stock player:
Tapping on genre --> the following screen gives my a CHAOTIC messed up list with all the single songs of all albums of all artists in that genre!
Well, perhaps I´m just kind of a geek here, but this is not how to listen to music. Good example: I´m somewhere, wanting to listen to an audiobook. Okay, so lets choose "Audio Books" in the genre. And now everybody should know what I mean: For example, "the hobbit" consists of ~200 single mp3 files...and I have to search them within all the other 1000 mp3 files on my own.
So, the question is: Is there ANY chance of enhancing the stock player with a normal, intuitive hierachical structure?
EDIT:
Nvm thread changed already
Hello
I´ve got the same issue here and i find it very unhelpful, that all tracks are in chaotic order when you choose music by the category "Artist".
But its funny, that the tracks are in correct order when you select music by the category "Album".
Problem is that i have nearly 300 Albums and it is very stressing to scroll through all albums to find the correct one. I´d like to have it sorted by "Artist" and select then an Album.
The Stock Player of SGS and SGS2 doesn´t show this issue.
Didn´t find any solution to this. maybe i stick to a different player until samsung fixes this.
Mate...I can´t believe my eyes...finally someone who finds this system confusing as well
Yeah, for now I´m on PowerAmp again. Considering the lack of interest on this topic (as can be seen here in the thread), I think this will not change in near future^^
Posted this issue on different forums but no one seemed to notice the lack of sorting. For a moment i thought i was allone with this. Even posted this on the Samsung Forum directly, baut they blamed it on the filenames, which i allready checked. Even tried stuff with the tags.
Wrote an Email to Samsung Support. But no answer today.
I think its a simple issue that can be corrected within the next firmwareupdates, because no other model has this problem.

Hmm I don´t think that this will be changed unless there are more people like us...it is the very same situation on all samsung devices (including the S2 and the note). But let´s be optimistic, hope never dies!
Now i figured out, that the player sorts the Titels by filename, but only when your use "Artist" category.
Tried different things and compared some other albums. When you put a Tracknumber before the Title, the player sorts it like this.
But this leads to a problem regarding Albums with more than 10 tracks, because the order is "1-10-11-12-2-3-4".
You can compensate this with an unorthodox method, something like "101 - Title"
Which leads to another problem, the complete rewrite of the filenames of my entire collection.
But still im wondering why the player sorts in "Artist" by Filename and in "Album" by Track ID. This is very unproductive

Request for Google Music Artist Images

I would love to have the ability to set my own image for my artists in Google Play Music. The ones that Google supplies are blurry & LQ. I can pay a little ($20) as an incentive for someone who can create an app or find a hack that will allow me to do this. Please respond to this thread.
I use Album Art Downloader from Play Store to find and set album arts. But you have to clear the app 's data anytime you use it so the new changes appear. Give it a shot and see if you like it.

Thanks for taking time to respond but I'm looking for ARTIST images. For example the artist Kerli, not the album Love is Dead.
ARTIST image
I too have been searching quite a bit for artist image editing in Google play Music...
Have checked many droid forums, scoured articles and FAQs, queried google's help database. There are quite a few other posts asking this question!
In pretty much every forum or database query, the first response given is advice on setting *album* art.
============
So far i have not found any sort of in-app way of doing this...
...which is, come on face it, is very important, NOT for the reason some may assume! Its not because I want/need my own choice of artwork necessarily, its because some of the artist images google puts in are INCORRECT or dubious. (and others while technically correct are poor "press" shots of the artist, for instance sitting with a pet cat... SNORE!!)
I would even be satisfied with simply turning off/on artist image so I don't have to keep seeing John Williams face as the label for my star wars collection, or some kind of spanish language tutorial for a french electronic band!

I can't believe there isn't a huge internet furor over this huge oversight!
I get that legal copyright licensing issues have to be considered. I would be happy to choose from a menu of legally approved images instead putting my copies of pictures in. (or just turn off the image)
But how is every user with a fair sized collection NOT NOTICING incorrect artist images??? I suppose a great many collectors are single-song and genre-mix types who don't necessarily browse their music by album or by artist, so i get that...
But still a HUGE number of people *do* browse by groups, artists often! And have tagged and cataloged libraries, its a hobby. Like when i collected CDs back in the day. And it is very frustrating to have all that nice organization ruined by a big fat wrong image not of your own choosing!!!

Those reading bear in mind we are talking specifically about GOOGLE PLAY MUSIC (mine is current and updated, august 2013 as of this writing)
by the way, this is whole issue is a first world issue.lol. We're complaining about an awesome free app. Other than this small cosmetic flaw, google music is quite very nice! Very slick looking on phone, fast and uncluttered interface... +1 for sure.

[Q] Organisation App

Hey there, I've had an android phone knocking around for some time but only recently started really using it. The main reason I need it is to organize my self, my work and life.
So with this in mind I went and got Any.do and such apps but as I downloaded opened and discarded them I started to find that they all seem to run into the same grave limitations. I have a room full of lists on bits of paper and what I want is to keep them on my phone. But the apps I try offer the option of creating a list and that's it, about 70% of them I discarded because you cant even change the order of the items in the list which is useless to me as i need to write them in priority.
The next problem is that apps such as Any.do which is the best I've found so far can create folders such as work and play and then one long list of everything i will ever need to do at work. I have many tasks to do at work and those tasks consist of other lists of tasks and so on. For example I need to sort out transport up north for a group of people to do a job so I have a work list with the current jobs on it and on it is this job's name, on another bit of paper iis a list of things i need to do for this Job. One of the things I need to do is sort the van out so under fix the van is another list of things I need to do to fix the van, in that list amongst other things in insurance, so i have another list of things to do to get the insurance.
This is how it all works, breaking big tasks down into smaller and smaller tasks till life is all clear and doable. One folder labeled WORK with all these things listed is useless. Great for doing the shopping or organizing a party but no good for organizing your life unless your life is painfully simple.
Because the method of lists within lists is so old and simple and suited to an app I presumed they'd all be able to do it but I cant seem to find one anywhere and I've been at it for a while but then I can barely turn the thing on. So please anyone who knows where to look or what I'm doing wrong I'd appreciate some guidance.

sorry, but you are searching for an notes app, am i right?
i suggest you to try google keep, easy to use, reorderable, you can set alarms and its in the google enviroment.. so it is synced between devices and browser
.. or ask the nsa for help, if you forgot something
I'm searching using the terms: Organization, to do list, Productivity and things like this to try and find an App to help organize into one orderly document of easily assessable lists of what I have to do.
Google Keep is another one that you can make lists in but the list's can not reference each other so you can list everything you have and need to do and buy and so on but you can not group or nest the lists beyond the first level much like the other apps I've seen. You can list WORK,HOLIDAY,SHOP,PARTY and then within the WORK list you can list NORTHERN JOB, FRANK'S, TAX RETURNS. But then that's it. You cant list anything inside TAX RETURNS. It's to basic to organize anything beyond odd jobs and the shopping.
It is one of the ones that is reorderable as in you can move the order of items in the two lists and synchronizing and alarms and all that is fine but I just really need a simple but effective app that allows me to create lists to organize what I have to do and in what order.
I guess I can do it by using folders inside folders with names on them for jobs but it seems like a hell of a work around. Be easier to just live with all my bits of paper but I'm sure there are apps out there to organize things in a little more depth than things like Google keep, I'm sure just not looking in the right place? Anyone?

[APP]Music Playlist for Wear/Pebble to Start playing Play Music/Spotify Playlists

We recently launched a wear application which allows users to view their Google Play Music Playlists on their Android Wear / Pebble Watch and let them start playing selected playlist on their phone device.
* As I am a new user I am not allowed to paste outside link, so I have attached the screenshots.
Application Name: Music Playlists for Wear
Do check the app and let us know any feedback or suggestions.
Update:
The app now supports Spotify playlists as well.
Update:
Pebble Watch support included.
Nice app! How come it doesn't show my automated playlists like recently added, thumbs up, etc? Those are the main ones I use. Any plans to add them?
Sent from my SM-N910V using XDA Free mobile app
Looks cool, will have to try. what I'm really looking for is a way to pick songs form the playlist on the watch. That way if I want to skip around, I don't have to press the next button 5 times before I get to the actual song I want.

We are already working on the next update, which still does not focus on songs within playlist; but we are thinking on to put some control/selection over songs in future updates.

Would be amazing. I just REALLY want a way to pick songs from the watch. I stream my google play music to my chromecast often, and to hit next/back until I get to the song I want is kind of annoying, not to mention laggy when connected to chromecast. You figure out a way to do that and i'll buy this app plus donate!
This app is really a great idea (!), but I don't like that the playlists are mixed up on the watch. They should be listed alphabetically.

Hi, we are releasing an update soon with a lot more features and will also resolve some of the current issues too.
excellent app
Something Google should have implemented from the start. Thanks guys! Is there anyway to launch a playlist using voice? For example, OK Google, launch music list "oldies but a goodie" . just looking for a way to launch a playlist through voice commands only.

Yes. We have just released an update with Spotify integration.
It's nice that the playlists are sorted alphabetically now. Thanks for that!
But it's not so nice that I have to tap once more to start a playlist now and that I have to swipe two times to exit the app. The operation should be easier. Every single step counts.
Suggestion: Make the player list on the phone app sortable and the watch app should show the playlists of the first player app directly after the start. A swipe to the left shows the playlist of the second app and so on...
Alternative: Make an option " Show only playlists of app X". (I only need Google Music)
Maybe you should make a Google+ community with a beta program.
And one small thing: On the playlists screen of the phone app the exclamation mark in the top right should better be a question mark. On the first start I really thought there was a problem.

We are working on the next update which will again make the Wear app really simple to use.
We already have a beta testing community but using it for our other apps, so I have created a new community just for this app "jumpbyte-wearmusiclist-betatesting" (sorry can't paste links due to low posts)
Thanks for your feedback again, hopefully next release will make the Wear app really easy to use.
I will post you again as soon as the update is available in Play Store.

Oh, I didn't know the other community. Then a sub-section in that one should be enough, or not?
I have the app and paid for the pro-version.
Is it possible to have the "songs", "albums" (from spotify) etc. lists in the app? I know they're not really playlists, but alot of people use them as their go-to list.

Hi, we are adding more features for Spotify and some general usability features too. I will keep you posted when we have new version available in store.
I will really appreciate if you can provide some feedback for the app in the Play Store.
Any chance of a Pebble version?
Hi, we thought of a Pebble version earlier but we haven't planned it so far.
I will check it again and if there are no similar apps available then we will definitely release the Pebble support.
