Hi dear devs,
kholk posted what seems to be an official leaked ROM for the Motorola RAZR (GSM Version).
I was wondering if can be useful for your work... I'm not capable of such a great work so... here is the download link for the ROM.
Many tanks to kholk and Motorola!
Obviously
DON'T FLASH IT IN YOUR MOTOROLA PHOTON/ELECTRIFY!
THIS IS FOR THE MOTOROLA RAZR (EU/ASIAN) ONLY.
I think what we need is an updated kernel for a tegra processor. I'm not sure that we can do much without that. But what do I know?
What we need is the source.
Source, tegra support, and ics kernel
I'm a MoPho-er
honetsly i wouldnt really bother with this. assuming you got the rom to boot youd still need a host of hardware changes with the kernel. and thats just to get it to work 100% on our phone like it does theirs (from what i understand its a rather buggy/busted release for them.
i hope everyone is looking at the big picture tho.. so long after ics source, and they are only this far in their flagship phone... settle on in folks its gunna be a while for ics blur for us
Thanks for your replies!
I think Shabby is right but I saw this rom as a hope because with Vanilla ICS or CM9 it's impossible to have ICS+Webtop ...
However, if somebody is going to try the impossible, I'll be glad to help or test

Are there any AOSP ROMs out there for the Droid Razr GSM ?
I might be blind, or stupid (take you pick) but so far I have not found any ROM out there that did not have the terrible Motorola Apps bundled into it.
A while back I tried to get into the whole ROM Development thing, but it all just goes over my head as I have no development experience at all.
The thing is that the dialer of the Droid Razr is not stock, and as far as I can see the SMS Messaging app is also doctored (the smilies suck majorly I have to say).

These rom are already working on cdma ics, so they need only to make work the gsm part of the rom. Is not something so distant from being real XD

Is it? From whatever little I have seen, except for Droidth3ory's Infektion, nothing else is stock AOSP...
But I know we are gonna be surprised sooner than we think...

What bugs me most about all the ROMs out there are the customizations applied to them.
I'm not going to rail against the devs, it's their personal choice what they do with their builds, they are just not my cup of tea.
Hopefully someone will release a barebones, purely stock ROM without any of their personal improvements (and neither of Motorola's either).

Make that two. I am no one to speak against the devs hard work and efforts put in. In fact I admire all of the people who spend time and energy here. But I too prefer a pure stock barebones OS...our best bet is to wait...

I don't know...its perception perhaps. Just don't like their designs. And didn't the GNexus have the signal dropping issue?
HW wise Motorola is better. Not saying its the best...but better.

My bro is on a gnex and never had an issue. Even now with the jb update. Personally I don't like the onscreen buttons so I wouldn't have one. I had a galaxy 1 for a while and was happy with the hardware. The software was so easily hackable that the poor offerings from Samsung were ignored completely until I sold it.

Edit. I'd suggest trying one for a few days if you can. Even hacking it if the owner will let you.

Yeah, and from what i've seen it'll stay a dream.
Every other rom out there that i've seen has had a bunch of stuff added that hardly anyone will ever use, or has been made rather hideous in respect to themes and color palettes.
There is a reason behind the way Android looks as standard, and I personally do not think that there is any need for improvement, at least on Android 4.0.4, so it would be really nice if the devs could leave the visual experience unchanged
They relesead the alpha for cm9 on gsm razr, i know that is not completelly aosp but is very similar to it.
(i'm not posting the link since is an alpha and inexperienced people might try to install it and brick or having problem with it)
CyanogenMod has been a battery hog ever since CM6 for me, that's why I ditched it for OxygenROM. Also, i'm sorry to say that CM also has accumulated too much bloatware after it became popular. The choice to include ADW was likewise spectacularly stupid.

The cm9 doesn't have adw, it have a custumized launcher based on the original one that let you change number of screen e some other little tweaks. Still you can froze tha app you don't like and have a almost clean aosp (plus the power widget onthe status bar that i found very usefull)
Hi everyone ,
I'm running ICS on my RAZR Maxx and wanted to consult with all of the knowledgeable people here on xda about whether or not I should flash CM10 Jelly Bean on it or if I should just stick to the stock ICS.
I am running Jelly Bean on my nexus 7 and its so smooth and quick that I really want the same experience on the Razr but I am worried it won't be as smooth if I dont wait for an official update.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks

Well I went ahead and used safestrap which is amazing. Its not like it used to be where I have to wipe the device first but they have different slots allocated to different roms so I can go back to stock if I want easily plus have 3 more roms to choose from
I went with cm10 which is a bit buggy but still works pretty good so now I'm on cm10 jelly bean on razr maxx woooo hoooo

Many flashing directions say to wipe device. Does safe strap leave a clean place to install the ROM without wiping? If I go back to stock, will all my data and apps be intact?
Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
if u have gsm then stay with stock until cm10 is stable enough for daily usage
The new safestrap allows you to allocate 3 slots to different roms so if you want tp.flash cm10 and 2 other roms you dont have to wipe your device. Its really cool

Yes wipe device after creating and selecting the new ROM slot. You just don't need to wipe when switching between slots 1 and 2 after each one is set up.

I don`t like do wait for operator official ROM so I`m using AOKP ROM. I recommend that.
I didn't wipe the device at all.
You can create the new ROM slot and select it without the need to wipe anything

If you're on GSM, I'd say stick to your Stock Based ROM and work on modifications yourself wih init.d, build.prop, app debloating, etc.
If you're on CDMA, you can try to go with Jelly Bean based ROMs though they're still kinda buggy.
I quit JB ROMs on my GSM due to Mobile Data Problems and System Deep Sleep
Yes, I've studied xda for three weeks on the Droid Razr, and I still don't know how to flash a ROM on this thing. Information is scattered, disorganized, and much of it is old.
Let me tell you, figuring this out is a Holy Terror, unlike my old Nexus One. And as a bonus, almost no one will answer any of your questions!
Good luck man, you'll need it. Most ppl give up.

Well its pretty simple actually once you spend time and do the research
First you download safestrap from here:
http://blog.hash-of-codes.com/downloads/
Then you follow the safestrap installation instructions here:
http://blog.hash-of-codes.com/how-to-safestrap/
then you download CM10 Jelly bean here:
http://goo.im/devs/Hashcode/spyder/cm10
Get the latest version and save it to your device (Its a zip file)
I just saved it to a dropbox directory and then exported it to the phone but you can do it however you want.
Then you can watch this youtube video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0i-KZ3dJL0&feature=related
Im sure there are others but he uses safestrap v3 so its easy.
And voila you have a buggy CM10 but its jelly bean

Hi guys,
I have just receive an XT910 with android 4.1.2 and i love it but i was questionning myself if i need to change ROM or not?
Can you advise me if CM10 is better than stock ROM (battery life/performence ?) Or maybe MIUI V5
Thx for your advise
Oh yes, much better. If you like cm10 and miui, you should try avatar ROM. It combines the two.
I use PAC-man rom. This combines several of the standout features from CyanogenMod, AOKP, and Paranoid Android into one rom.

Razr XT910 does support both 4.2 & 4.3 Custom ROMs but there are a few things to consider.
On 4.2, HDMI and HD Video recording doesn't work. The devs are working on those.
4.3 builds are in development right now and also have some issues.
It depends on you what exactly do you want in a ROM.

I have tried all 4.2 roms on my xt912 but all to no avail. The major challenge I keep on having is that no rom allows me use mobile internet connections. I'm from Nigeria, and wifi isn't ubiquitous. Another challenge I have is that, my phone is XT912. But since all XT912 roms are done with CDMA in mind, I can't install SYPDER roms on my phone, so I have keep on trying XT910 (umts_sypder) ROMS. I don't know whether this could be the cause of my challenges.

If you have a spyder(XT912), you should flash spyder ROMs and not umts_spyder.
If you use xt912 on gsm, just flash the gsm fix after the custom ROM.

I have a rooted standard ROM and I am also curious as to the benefits of changing to another custom ROM. I would like to know if the custom ROMs for the Razr still use Smart Actions app which I quite like. I have also upgraded the battery to the Maxx EB40 battery, so curious as to whether there are more power benefits. I can see that there would be certain apps that can be added but I like all the standard camera, video, bluetooth type issues to be stable and working, is that asking too much?

SmartActions only works on 4.1.2 stock based ROMs as it requires blur framework. You can try any stock based custom ROM.
For other ROMs, you can use Tasker. It has similar functions as SmartActions

I agree, I've rooted and de-bloated, installed my launcher of choice and can't be any happier but I did try many custom roms and there's always a trade off somewhere. having the og Droid Razr I need my battery life and wifi and carrier signal's to be strong. Just couldn't find a custom rom to do that for me. But I did live on the edge there for a bit and learned alot from other flashaholics here!

That depends on how you define ok.!
On 4.2, almost all everyday usage stuff works fine. But some things like HDMI, HD recording doesn't work.
So if those features are crucial to you, you should stick with 4.1.
My advice, try it for yourself. See if it has what you need.

I have an Atrix and Defy both rooted and with custom Rom, very happy with the results, the rare freeze or reboot is annoying but I can live with it. so I have tried the custom route and will probably go with one, there are so many to choose from though all with slight differences. The performance upgrades for the Razr arent important as it doesnt need it [ I dont play games on it] so getting the basics working in a stable way is more important. thanks
