[Q] Somethings going on... - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Love love love this phone!
But there's some weird stuff going on.
First off main problem: No apps show in multitasking except for system apps. Nothing.
2nd thing: There's some lag going on. Even when I'm running only one app there's some add lag. Lag is unacceptable!
These are my only problems any help is welcome. The first one is worrying me. I've rebooted multiple times. Can't think of anything.
I'm going to restore my old backup I'll respond when and if anything positive has happened.

Random reboots

My SGS2 is rebooting itself 3 or 4 times a day, I'll do a quick reflash but I noticed it happened even before I rooted with the KDD kernel but didn't think anything of it.
Has anyone else noticed random reboots and is there a log file or app which can help diagnose the issue?

A quick search for 'random reboot' reveals:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1059129&highlight=random+reboot
C'mon lad...first rule of the book: Use search!
no prob, I only did a lazy search, ie I just looked through recent posts.
If no one else is having an issue then its likely to be an app I have installed, I had thought it might be linked to me uninstalling the samsung hub stuff? But that was after rooting.
I'll flash the new firmware and see if it goes away.
Mods please feel freer to delete our close the thread.

I would definitely do a factory reset if all else fails
That's probably my thread...
I was getting lots of reboots on original firmware and factory reset didn't help....
However I uodated to xdd (full rom, not the root kernel) and it hasn't happened since!
Reflashed this morning with the kdf rom, had no reboots since
Sent from my GT-I9100
which are the roms "kdf" and "xdd"
sorry I'm new in samsung
thanks for any help
random reboots
And i wan't to know what xdd and kdf means.and a link with this rom's as weel if someone pleases.I have a problem with quick auto reebots as well and i haved istalled lots of diferent rooms with and the problem still there.plese help!
Many, including myself, have narrowed it down to Dolphin HD. Others to having apps installed to SD.

in my case none of the problems you said is my problem.i'v restord it to factory settings, flashed 2.3.4 kg1,2.3.5 k2/j3/ki3,cum rom light'ning v6.1,and now i flashed 2.3.3 xwkdf to see if this firmware solvs the problem.
Same here
Hi,
I had the Samsung Galaxy Y pro GT-B5510 random reboot problem. I'm a PhD CompSci very comfortable with flasing roms etc.
I tried everyting I could think of and I mean everyting a PhD CompSci could think of.
The last thing I tried:
With clockworkmod, I tested all my keys. (My Phone has physical keyboard) and all keys where OK!
Then I tried the clear dalvik cache and fix permissions.
It did not work, 2 minutes later a random reboot. aaaahgggg
Confident that not the SD card or firmware is the cause of this problem, I knew my Phone had a defect.
So I took my Phone, and I know this is not a scientific method. But a method that seems to work on electronics from time to time.
SOLUTION:
-With my knuckles, I bashed the backside of my Phone a few times, pretty hard I might add, NEVER be too gentle with electronics!
Now my pone has not rebooted a single time for over 18 Hrs. and still going strong! And it is so fast with Next Launcher! Amazing! That is one amazing launcher!! I cracked it, and I won't tell how, but you should buy this launcher, and I will as soon there is a payment method that works for me on the Android market. The memory management of this launcher is the best in the world!!
If this problem ever returns, I will try the bashing method first, could save me days of work.... LOL
And this is actually a very good method, it works on TV's on Radio's, it works on Android Phone's randomly rebooting, and most other electronics. It is reported to help on airplane, space shuttle, helicopter and warp drive engine control panels lol. ect. ect.
Really;
Just try this method, if you are going desperate! I have so many good experiences with this method, you can't deny it works often!!
Sometimes I think it is just a flipflop hanging, and the shock might shake it lose. So this method is actually more scientific then you think. <-- Physical shocks are known to fix electronics and chips sometimes!
So bash your Phone good and see if your problem is solved! Do not damage the Phone, just a few good hard knocks!
A few pretty hard knuckle bashes on the back of you Phone, won't damage it. It is fast, so it is worth a try! And that goes for all electronics with mysterious problems...
I am sooooo happy my Phone does not reboot anymore. You have no Idea! I don't care I had to bash it a little, IT WORKS like a charm!!
All my education..... and the method that works is simple bashing... How Ironic.
It is still running, if I do not post or modify this, I still have not got the random reboot problem back!
Trust me bashing now confirmd; Might solve random Android reboots! You have a good chance it will work!
whoooooo so happy now!!!
Just for fun, if this method fixed your problem don't forget to reply here, and thank me, I'm curious just how good a method bashing is!

[Q] Huge problems!

Hey guys,
I've been having so many problems with my Thunderbolt. I have stock everything on there because I'm too chicken $h!t to root it. I did install the Better Keyboard from Gingerbread 8 or whatever...
Anyways...
My whole phone freezes up in the middle of applications, or on the home screen, the soft keys won't respond, and a lot of the time to get the app draw or to get the apps to respond, I have to scroll through all my screens to unfreeze the screens. It's so weird.
Also, it gets extremely slow a lot during texting or emailing, so slow that I'm typing and the text isn't showing up for about 30 seconds after.
And!! I have lost almost all 3G (I don't get 4g in my area...) connectivity and half the time I can't even get 1x.
I'm going to Verizon tomorrow to demand that they fix it/give me a new one/I want the X2.
I'm fed up. Please help
Thanks!
Strange problem. Especially since its not even rooted o.o
Possible faulty phone? Or just a bunch of apps slowing the phone(which I don't see as the issue)
Have you tried factory resetting?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
Yeah I would try a factory reset and if that doesn't help then definitely go get it exchanged because that's not right at all mine had never been anything but buttery smooth even before I rooted.
Sent from my HTC Thunderbolt
Sounds like a lemon. And from the reviews I've read on the X2, you're gonna miss the bolt's RAM.

[Q] freeze?

I have two consultations, actually. Hehe.
(1) I'm not really sure what happened but my XS suddenly freezes when I'm in a middle of a game perhaps or maybe doing something with an app.
It just literally freezes. I had to restart, unless it'll drain my battery with it's screen on forever.
Anybody got an idea what happened there? o_o...?
Cause I dont. Havent really touched the phone yet, I mean, I havent rooted it yet and all. So I basically have "just apps and games" here.
(2) Also, a few weeks ago, when I woke up, my phone's DEAD. WTF. I dunno how or why but I'm assuming that my phone's screen was probably on the whole night. (I've observed what happens whenever someone texts me, my phone's light doesnt seem to go off after that), and I'm so confused that I FORGOT what I actually did to solve that, but for some lame reason, it happened again a few days ago.
What was that? o_o...?
xoxo
thanks :3
Wow 173 views and no response.
I'm betting it's something software related like an app or apps you installed causing issues.
Freezing can also be due to the device over heating while playing a game or multi tasking.
Check the apps you installed and remove anything dodgy, failing that try my post about factory resetting or restoring your device and start fresh again.
Don't forget to back up your phone book to gmail and instal the latest updates from the development section.
Failing that take the device back to the store for a replacement/fix.

S3 Switches off??!!

I am increasingly wanting to revert back to my S2 after 2 days of owning the S3, and getting nowhere with syncing and settings, wifi/packet data recognition (or lack of), being able to continuously use apps, motion settings not working for me and keyboard fail!!!
I have been trying to backup the S3 for the last couple of hours to Kies and it seems to be taking its time, however it is still switched on which is a good start I think.
Biggest issue is using the keyboard in the txt message app and in forums/social sites. The keyboard is extremely slow and unresponsive (new issue started today) and then when I hit send/post etc.. the phone screen goes blank and the phone becomes unresponsive. I have had to either remove the battery, replace and switch he phone on or long hold the power button - 7-10 seconds. I don't think this is normal. I am yet to root the phone but I'm too scared to in case I brick it. Yesterday it randomly switched off but today it is not only random but when I try to post anything.
Motion settings are enabled (major feature I chose it for) and they're not working either.

don't cry. just return the set. what you are facing is absolutely not a normal situation. You have got a faulty set. just return it instead of rooting or trying roms etc.

Really thinking I might have to, but it was painstaking to sync all data, apps, photos etc from the S2. I was hoping it was an issue with not having day/sleep mode settings? Or some other simple issue that I've over looked

Definitely a faulty device return ASAP

ignoring such simple settings don't result in such a mess. If the set is in warranty then let Samsung take care of it instead of you going through the trouble. If motion sensors are enabled but not working then it may be a hardware issue (faulty gyroscope).

First thing to do: factory reset!
Then do not restore anything from your S2 and see if you still have these issues
-if you still have these issues: faulty device to return
-if your issues are gone: something went wrong when you restore from S2
I would like to add that if you have everything enabled you will get lag and freezes, try disabling some of the features...face awake, some of the motions etc, usually it is just a matter of setting up your phone right, it only has a certain amount of ram and all those fancy novelties use it up
In the middle of a factory reset. Only took 4 hours to back up the device. I'll try to disable some features and post an update with how I go. I really appreciate the advice

I think something went wrong with Kies. I uninstalled then reinstalled the program, rebooted the phone and slowly backed up only photos and contacts and everything is running ok now. Thanks for all the help and advice!

I tried to speak to the 'tech' in the Telstra shop and even while I was there it switched off and they had no clue, only offering advice of removing the battery and restarting the phone :what:
Figured I was best speaking to real experts...

RAZR Screen Stutters Randomly

I own two different RAZR phones and recently they both have started doing something very strange. I will turn on the phone and notice that the screen starts to do a stutter when actions are taken (button push, screen swipe, etc.) After a little bit or a reboot the phone usually returns to normal. After a little while longer I see this happen again. I find it odd that two different phones started displaying this behavior around the same time which makes me think that it might be software related as opposed to hardware going bad in both phones at the same time.
Anyone ever see this behavior? Anyone have any thoughts?
Here is a link to a short video I made of the stutter so you can see exactly what I am talking about (sorry about the wrong orientation):

Thanks for any help.

Not yet, but I am getting to that point. I wanted to ask on here to see if anyone else had seen this and figured it out first.
I use sony xperia p...
I also have the prob while installing/uninstalling any app...
It wasn't on GB...Using ICS now...it's a software problem

I used to have a similar problem after the ics update. It happened when I was reading news on flipboard. After I uninstalled it everything was ok. It got me freaking out, though

I think I got rid of the issue for now. I ended up looking at the most recently updated software and removing a couple of them that were not used much anymore and neither phone has experienced the issue since. Must be some sort of update that came along and caused an issue (maybe in conjunction with other software) and the OS. Strange...
Glad to know that it is not a hardware issue.
stutter
I'm having the same issues, its worse when I'm using the browser and keyboard. It acts like I'm touching the screen where I'm not. I have heard about golocker possibly causing the problem. Are you using a different locker or launcher? I found rebooting and wiping the cache help a little but it only seems temporary.

I don't think it is limited to a problem caused by one application. I think that is might be a combination of apps and how they interact with each other and the OS. I uninstalled about 5 recently updated apps that I did not need and managed to get rid of the issue on both my phones. I think some of them I got rid of were (Avast (Changed this to Vipre...personally was going to do this anyway), Lux, GSam Battery, etc.) Do I think there are problems specifically with one of these programs? No. They are all good programs. BUT, once I started seeing issues they were on the top of the most recently updated list and I decided to start there.
I use Titanium Backup and it has a list of apps that you can sort by the most recently updated and this is how I decided what apps I should look at to try to alleviate my issues. I knew the day that issues started and that gave me some clues as to where to start looking. It worked for me, but it might not have as good results for everyone.
Hope this helps!
Try this screen calibration app from play store

Seems to improve the touch screens for my Galaxy Tab and Razr. Could be placebo though. A lot of positive results and comments from users of different devices.
my screen stutters in a similar manner, but only when running Google play music, plugged into a logitech speaker using the headphone jack. didn't happen on gb. Also tried a custom rom - DROID HD and the same thing happened, but not quite as bad.
