Kingo root & ss works after update - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 General

Make sure to unroot & uninstall ss first. I took both of the updates via kies, ran kingo and boom. 5 minutes later im running exposed and debloating again
Selinux is still permissive
Ss still works.

Selinux permissive still or enforcing?

Permissive )

Did you unroot, apply both updates, then re-root via Kingo?

What were the steps you took before doing the update? I got all kinds of stuff debloated and running exposed and have safe strap installed. Also what's in the update? Thanks partner

First is uninstalled ss. Then ran both updates. It completely bloats it back up. Then ran kingo, rebooted after the last reboot just to be safe. Installed exposed framework, rebooted and everything was all good. There is no official changlog yet, but there should be one soon. I think it fixed the bugs that was also in the sprint note 3. I also believed it enabled AWS.

Did you un root the phone first or just plug the rooted phone and update via Kies?

Just also wondered if we will still be able to use safe strap after the update?

So what am I missing? Kingo is asking me to put my phone into USB debugging mode. Unless I'm blind, which I possibly am, I'm not seeing that option on 4.3.

Wow, I had no idea it was that hidden now.....lol. Next time, I'll do a search to find that too. Thanks nimitch!

No worries. I actually forgot how fun it is to customize Android phones. It's come a long way since my HTC Evo [went to the dark iOS side for a few years], and Android has developed nicely.
Learning how to use each version takes time, searching, and assistance from each other in this great community we call XDA

Ok so apparently Kingo is still not detecting my phone. Debugging mode is turned 'ON' and USB debugging is checked. When I look at the 3 options for USB connections I see Media device (MTP), Camera (PTP) and Media device (USB3.0). None of these allow the program to see my phone.

Try putting your phone in another usb input and see if the drivers install again. I know sometimes I have to move usb ports for the pc to see my phone

Note 3 knox 0x1 and Samsung All Share Cast Dongle

Does anyone has rooted his GN3 making his Knox to 0x1 and has also Samsung All Share Cast Dongle?
I ask this because Dongle is crazy checking if is Original sammy firm in the phone and i had a ton of troubles with my Note 10.1 to be able to connect (triangle away had troubles and after 1 million tries i noticed that busybox was making dongle not to work)

Do you say you got your rooted Note to work with the dongle just by deleting busybox?
Do you have a custom recovery or custom kernel on it and it still works with the dongle?

Yes i was with WanamRom and No i just didnt installed busybox. When i was doing rooting.. then CWM then busybox all together it didnt work... and also triangle away even though in download mode i was 0 and official wasnt able to make my system status to official. Then i tried each one.. 1st root... dongle worked.. then cwm.. dongle worked.. then busybox.. dongle stoped working.... thats it.
So i ended up understanding that somehow one of the checks that sammy does is that if busybox exists in the system.

This is interesting. Because normally it is that the dongle works - root or not - as long you have the stock kernel AND the stock recovery.
And you got it to work with CWM - a custom recovery. Strange.
Did you try to uninstall busybox?
No really, I just trying with different kernels because for some reason some kernels was found by triangle way to show info inside the app but most didn't, in the end when I realized it wasn't kernel or recovery related I left the stock kernel. Understand that what ever I tried off course was happened after reboot with triangle away to reset the counters and the system status.

This and wifi tether are the only reasons I root anymore. I will wait a little while longer not like I did with the 2. Caused me all kinds of problems. I was going nuts switching roms, defrosting app by app, i just couldn't understand why my backed up factory stock rom would mirror just fine and every other custom rom wouldn't. Then it came to me, its the kernel, because i gave up and i said i will just root and debloat stock and live without custom roms. I realized its kernel related as soon as I put another custom kernel and mirror failed.
So I am really glad I ran into this forum, thank you so much for confirming my doubts. All i do now , is restore boot.img from my recovery if i want to mirror , then i can always go back to my fav. kernel whenever i want.
Thanks again fellas.

New update OTA status, any one installed yet?

Just checked got a 19 MB update after manually checking. Has anyone installed it yet?
Does it remove features, add features or security updates to prevent root?
If you don't know how to check:
1) menu button (left of the home button it doesn't light up till you touch it)
2) click "settings"
3) scroll down (run your finger toward the top of the screen) till you see system update.
4) select system update (I kind of recommend that you be on wifi or 4G before checking)
5) click update It should then check for an update and then download it and ask if you want to install.
If you are new and have not yet got used to rooting phone be aware that by installing it, that it may cause errors, loss of root, or even dogs to say meow and Cartman to be nice by installing it.

I rooted mine via Chainfires auto-root last Friday when i picked up my N3 and although it did change my Knox flag to 0x1 as reported by everyone else, I have not experienced any issues with restoring backups from TWRP.
As others said, there's nothing in Sprint's contract (that I'm aware of) pertaining specifically to root. The only time the Knox counter MIGHT matter is if you had to send it into Samsung directly for service. But then again, all of us know that rooting/modding our phones is an inherited/know risk taken by each user... or at least I hope this is true.

win 7 doesnt recognize device

Ive had this problem ever since verizon updated me to 4.3
Im wanting to root my phone and install a custom rom and move it to straight talk but how can i safely do anything when my pc hardly ever recognizes my phone?
Ive tried the usb that came with my note 2, tried 2 other usb cables that came with s3's
Tried every usb port on the computer
tried uninstalling keis
uninstalling samsung driver
reinstalling driver
reinstalling keis
rebooting while plugged in
nothing works.
My pc recognizes every other phone i plug into it.... im so fedup with this.
Any ideas?
A couple basic questions. Have you tried a separate PC? Do you have USB debugging enabled? Do you get any indication of your phone being charged when plugged into a port? Can you plug into a wall fine? Lastly what are you planning to do transfer files etc?

Look around some of the threads I remember a few people conforming a couple root methods. Too tired to go thread searching right now though. Removing bloat with just root works alright but you have to be more careful than someone who is unlocked would have to be. As for selling I can't fine much insight on that unfortunately.

I think that this occurs if you use Stumproot. If you root using ioroot usb debugging stays on after a reboot. Hope that helps.

Android Pay on Rooted LG V10

Disabling Super SU and OEM Unlock checkboxes let me add my card without restart but it will not work at checkout even with restart. It beeps but gives me an error that says something about not being able to verify security or something.
Any ideas?
I have LG-H901 (T-Mobile V10), bootloader unlocked, rooted w/ TWRP and Super SU installed. Factory ROM has not been changed. Only other changes is using Ti Backup to uninstall bloatware including T-Mobile My Account and com.tmobile.pr.adapt.
Or, could I set-up my stock ROM the way I want it, then unroot so I can use AP?
I've already deleted all the bloatware and everything is working really well. I dont see a reason to stay rooted all the time.

Yes you only need root at all times if you want xposed and use greenify, servicely ect.. But if you just wanted to debloat then it is not necessary to keep root... Unroot with SuoerSU, uncheck OEM unlock and reboot... That should fix you up...
Not every reader is active though... Try places that you know have previously worked with Android Pay

Yes, that's why I had suggested going somewhere you are 100 percent positive it works. It verified the security too add the card, so go to McDonald's, somewhere you know with confidence it works.. It may be the terminal you tried to use it at
