I've flashed Resurrection Remix V4.0.7 to my i9100. I was in Carbon ROM, the latest NIGHTLY. I have CWM Jeboo kernel installed but saw that Siyah kernel was better so I flashed it. I was able to boot into it once but then it went back to CWM by default. Anyway, I tried flashing RR V4.0.7, It worked, but its limited and I keep getting errors popping up such as keyboard stopped working, every 10 seconds or so (AOSP keyboard). I also can't open the quick settings menu in the status bar.I'm wondering if its because I never had the AROMA launcher display during installation. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know, I'll be over in Carbon Rom for now.

Hi, i want little advise on downloading ICS rom, I have recently rooted my beloved sexy SGS II
I want the pure ics rom which you can see on galaxy nexus rom with same look & feel, and it should be stable too, if not then
I have a question, if i install any stable ICS based MIUI or Cyanogenmod rom, do u know if there is option inside to switch it original default ICS theme ? I trided to look in youtube videos but didn't get
Also Do you know if we can put Tw Launcher on custom rom?
Thank you
I'm not sure where you can get this stuff...maybe use the search navigator? Or go down to your devices android development thread? TWLauncher won't work on any pure Google experience, frameworks don't allow it, unless you like boot loops... Not trying to flame you, but you should search a bit harder before posting on here...XDA isn't YouTube, so you won't find the answers there. Most ICS ROMs are stock ICS theme out-of-the-box, look at screenies! Oh wait, you didn't because you never searched...>.>

^Agreed. Search and you would find the resurrection remix rom, pure ics, and etc.

Resurrection is not pure ICS, Its basic framework is based on the Tw launcher. It only has an ICS launcher, everything else is themed. So if you want a pure ICS rom only CM9 is there. If you want your phone to look like an Iphone then use MIUI.
hahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah I really searched ok? but I was confused and yeah I XDA is youtube but theres no much screens where i can flip through them hahhahahahaah thanks for the valuable information and help

Go for HyDrOG3N-ICS with Siyah Kernel One of the best rom and kernel combo you're going to find out there for Pure ICS experience and lots of customization. It's stable, fast and really good battery life.

thanks bajee11 but first i want to give a try to CM9 after that if i dont find it good enough then i will surely go for you rom.
If it is your first unofficial ROM i can recomment Ressurection remix. I am also a noob at this stuff but was disappointed at the samsung ics update.
I have tried 3 versions of Ressurection Remix and they are really good. I have had little problem installing them and they behave pretty much like stock ics with some added benefits.
Hope i could help.

Hi!
I recently switced to sgs2 coming from my old sgs1 that was running cm9.
I turned on the sgs2 in the car on my way home and suddenly remembered the "Samsung tw hell" OK tw4 is not that bad and there is not the same lag as on the sgs1. But after using the "pure ICS experience on sgs1 for a while now, I just couldn't go back to touchwiz.
So when I got back home I found the speedmod kernel for sgs2 GB and flashed it, just to get cwm and then flashed hydrogen ics rom straight away. And I haven't looked back since, my phone is flying! Even though I have it running at Max 1 Ghz And compaired to my sgs1 the battery life is not that bad.
So hydrogen rom is so far my only experience with ics on the sgs2 but I can highly recommend it. And it can be modified without end so its really cool!
same here Hydrog3n-ICS is worth flashing and its CM9 based too...

I have now installed CyanogenMod9 Nightly latest build and it is fast with pure ics experience it looks stable too as read I some where ,though i know it has some minor issues like radio is not implemented yet also i compared it with hydrogen rom and i found that lot of customizing is not present in nightly build and im not quite happpy with it. What do you guys think about this rom ?? also let me know if should stay with this rom or upgrade to Hydrogen rom ?let know which is more better between CM9 versions. which ever rom you recommend , please let me know the steps to flash it.
If i want to install Hydrogen rom can I use below method: ? (just want to confirm)
Transfer the zip file you downloaded to your internal sdcard (not the external micro SD).
Turn off the phone, then boot into recovery mode. For this, press and hold these 3 buttons together until Samsung’s screen shows up: Volume UP+Home+Power.
Phone will boot into CWM recovery. Use volume keys to scroll up and down between options and power/home key to select an option.
Perform a wipe:
Select “wipe data/factory reset”. Then select “Yes” on next screen to confirm. (This will not touch your SD cards so don’t worry).
Go to “advanced” and then select “wipe dalvik cache”, then select “Yes” on next screen. Now, go back to main screen of recovery.
Select “mounts and storage”, then select “format system”. Select “Yes” on next screen to confirm. Go back to main recovery menu after system format is complete.
Then, select “install zip from sdcard”, then select “choose zip from sdcard”. Then, browse to the file you transferred to the sdcard in step 2 and select it.
Confirm installation on the next screen by selecting the option ”Yes — Install HyDrOXYG3NICS.zip“. The ROM will now start installing.
After installation is complete, select “go back” then select “reboot system now” to reboot the phone.

Hey
I just rooted my phone (4.0.4) with Siyah 5, and I installed CM10.
At the very first launch, I have an error that says : "Android Keyboard (AOSP) stopped working", again and again.
I can't open the keyboard. Also I don't have the lockscreen.
How do I make this ROM work ?
Thanks

I saw that I had to format \system before installing CM10. True ?
Nope, didn't work. I'll try one of the ROM you told me.
I came from CM 10.2.3 to CM11 Pound Rom after a full wipe with nuke. Everything works fine, without the BLN. On CM 10.2.3 it worked fine. It was activated in STweaks and because it didn't work, I installed Apollo Kernel but with that it does not work, too.
The problem is that the "Test BLN" works, but if a SMS or other notification comes in, it doesn't work.
Does anybody has an Idea?
The Rom came from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2535113
The problem was caused by the rom, the infected build works great with gustavo kernel:good:

Can you tell me precisely what you did, because I have tried OmniROM, infected´s CM11 with both Gustavo and Apolo and none work =/. Test BLN works *sometimes*, but it never lights up on a notification.
Thank you VERY much I really need the BLN feature, it was the reason why i rooted my phone in the first place.

I looked around for another rom which has the same futures to test bln with it. So I found this rom:
[ROM][KK][4.4.2][LINARO/SABERMOD] CyanogenMod 11
With this ROM and Gustavo Kernel BLN is working and it saves more battery. Since then I'm using this ROM as daily driver, works great.
:good:
Edit: Oh sorry, you have already tested the infected builds :/
Did BLN work with cm 10.1.3? Is it activated in Stweaks? How high is your Key Backlight Brightness?

I never had 10.1.3, had NeatROM before and BLN worked flawlessly.
I am now running the latest build [ROM][KK][4.4.2][LINARO/SABERMOD] CyanogenMod 11 CM 11 20141205 with the latest build of the Gustavo's kernel (TWRP) - 05/01 also.
Test BLN now works every time, I can modify BLN voltages and see the result. But it *still doesnt light up* on notification . What should I try next? Reflashing, some better way of wiping?
I have tried reflashing, different kernels but they all exhibit the same behaviour - Test BLN works (sometimes or every time) but the LEDs dont light up on notification!
I tried OmniROM and infected's CM11. Gustavos kernel, Apolo, DorimanX... LED voltage control works, LED on touch works as well... BLN and BLNWW dont work.
Does anyone have an idea what might be causing this problem? I had BLN running perfectly normal on NeatROM with Apolo kernel.
The KitKat ROMs are really great and I would love to have them as my daily driver but the problem is that I really, really need BLN and got used to it (actually spoiled by it is a better word).
I have managed to get it to work. I wiped everything with GS2RomNuke, reflashed ROM and kernel. Everything works now!

Great! :victory:
I forgot to mention it but I have wiped everything with this script, too
i had this problem. but i solved it select NO RESTORE apps from Google Play when i installed the rom. (no ask me why)
I recently switchef back to tasks AOKP ROM after trying out shostock. I like AOKP the best because of the layout options beep encountering problems with the ROM. I know its no longer in development so I assume its stable and its just user error. I also don't know where else to ask these questions so I hope I am in the right place
First off, I can't access the settings (not AOKP settings) in the menu. It crashes every time. EVEN on a fresh install with nothing but the gaps.
Second, the ROM starts to slow down after only a little bit of use. I want to say this is bad memory managment but clearing the task manager doesn't help. The only thing that gets it up to speed is using the kernel tweaks app and setting the gov. to performance mode which really kills the battery.
Third, which type of kernel would I use to put on this ROM? With or without mic swap? Plus what is the difference between AOKP and AOSP?
Sorry for the nooby questions guys but I'm rusty on this stuff. Don't bash on me too hard
Probably best place to ask would be the thread already created for it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2303484 I've ran this rom myself and can say I didn't experience any of these issues, a lot of the time it's user error or not doing a complete and total wipe before installing. Or a bad flash.
As far as I know, AJK v4.9 AOSP and STI v2.40EX14 would be the choices for a custom kernel. Use the AOSP version, not the swap or no swap versions.
AOSP = Android Open Source Project
AOKP = Android Open Kang Project
AOSP is a generic term for Google's code. AOKP and all the other rom names such as cyanogenmod, miui, carbon, etc. are names given by the developers.
Oh, and nobody around here bashes any more. All the high strung guys evidently have moved on to newer phones. Or they've mellowed with time, lol.
I installed ajk kernal and it gave me a huge speed boost. But I still get a ui crash when I go into settings=>kernel settings. Any ideas?

Yes, don't use the kernel settings in the settings menu. It was meant for the custom kernel that originally came with that rom.
Instead, use STweaks to make any changes you desire; it was installed when you flashed AJK.

Ah, TY dude. I tryed this kernal a long time ago when it was still in its early dev stages and there were some bugs. I remember STweaks but you had to install it via the play store. I kept searching for "st tweaks" not STweaks so it wasn't showing up. I was wondering what happened! haha
Hey, first of all thanks alot for all the development and crazy amount of information going on in here
I have searched but unfortunately I couldn't find a solution to my problem so I'm asking here. I recently installed official Cyanogenmod 10.2 stable release on my i9300 international S3 (since CM11 gave me some bugs) and it's pretty great so far, but I've been searching a way to change the color settings of the screen. On CM there are some built in ones but I don't really like those. On the 4.3 Stock Samsung ROM there was "Professional Photo" or something like that that I did like. Does anyone know what I can do? If I understood correctly kernels can do that sort of stuff but I didn't find a kernel to suit my needs.
Thanks in advance

Yes you understood it correctly If your Planning to run a ROM based on CM Screen modes like Dynamic, Professional Photo etc Are available only through custom Kernel.
In Sammy as v all know you can change it under settings but for CM unfortunately you have to stick to Kernel Settings to do that.
Almost All popular Kernels Have that option under Screen>MDNIE mode
All you have to do is select the right kernel
Unfortunatly You asked a Question in this Thread and Also Gave an answer for the same.
Just remeber that for CM ul have to stick to some Externel Kernel as these options wont be available with stock CM 10.2 Kernel as well
Just as a recommendation give GoogyMax , Boeffla, Agni a try as these gave me really good results(Special Thx to Dev's of the same )

I've looked into GoogyMax and Boeffla but as far as I could tell they don't support color changing. If I do install them what can I do to change the colors?
And I have yet to install a kernel, does it come in a zip file that I can install in CWM?

Strange To hear that. Well ive never used Stock CM so cant Comment on that GPS issue.
As Far As Now the AOSP or AOKP Roms ive used have never Had this GPS issue. You Can Try Anyone From Below Thread (CM 10.2/1)
