Yes it works, I am using my 6806 in Honduras on wifi in airplane mode just to make sure I am not billed for roaming data charges.

thanks for the reply, but can you still recieve phone calls? because i wanted everything off and wifi only

Yes it will work, I was able to receive a call in airplane mode and have wifi connected. I am sure it was my Hotel connection, but the person said I sounded like my voice was different. I suspect it had to do with the poor connection. Once I hung up and called back the connection was fine.
I hope this helps set your mind at ease that it will work for you.

if she's on Verizon she should have a data plan, so turning off wifi and letting the network data take over would be a quick fix.
Thank you

try restarting the phone, turning wifi on and off, making sure the wireless network is joined correctly (password, etc)

I solved my own problem. So simple I feel like an idiot.I unplugged my modem and my router and plugged them both back in 2 minutes later and PRESTO....problem solved.
Woot!!! Glad you got it solved, mate.

Can you disable mobile data but keep wifi on?

I'm looking to pick up a EVO 3D as my Desire decided to commit suicide.
It'll be a Rogers GSM version and next week I'm flying to Europe for a couple of weeks. With my Desire, running Oxygen, I could disable Mobile Data and keep WiFi on so I wouldn't need to worry about data roaming charges.
Since I don't have the unit yet, I thought I would ask before making the purchase and also because there's no ROMs for it yet that might add more options.
Thanks!
Before u turn wifi on turn mobile data off

That doesn't really make sense.. because if there's a wifi signal, than the device other than the phone should just connect to the wifi router and not the phone.
WiFi tethering, to my understanding, is only beneficial if there's no wifi signal and then you can just use your phone's mobile data to browse the internet.

Wi-Fi calling?

I'm just wondering if the new T-Mobile branded SGS III has Wi-Fi calling?
all the Tmo-specific articles I read said it does indeed have WiFi Calling... which is one of the few reasons I'll be getting it next week when the 32gb versions come out

Yeah I'm currently in Europe, but I'm planning to have it shipped here so I'll finally be able to make phone calls and text without being charged up the ass
It says it has wifi calling on Tmo's website...
Mine turned on wifi calling without any prompting as soon as I connected to my WiFi AP. I had to go out of my way to turn it back off.
Yes, it has it. There's no dedicated icon for it because the settings are now under the main Settings... More Settings.
Quality?
can anyone who has the phone comment on how well the WiFi Calling is?
thanks!

ahh yeah for sure! I used my G2X that way in Japan last year to save, worked flawlessly albeit there was about a 1/2 second of noticeable lag probably just from being on the other side of the planet.

If you are using wi-fi calling, can you switch off the cell radio and still get SMS and/or MMS's?

I am having trouble with my Wi-Fi calling feature on my SGS3. When it is enabled, I can make a call with no problem. However, when someone calls me, it either will not allow me to answer or goes straight to my VM. Also, when checking my voicemail, when it asks for my PIN, as soon as I start to touch the screen, it goes black. I have to short press the power button for the screen to come back, go to touch it again to enter my PIN and it goes black again. I have no idea what is up with this.

lose of cell service with Wifi on??

so like it says when i use any wifi my cell signal goes away. when i turn off wifi, my signal goes back to full H+. i dont get why this happens but its getting annoying. it also does this with my wifes S3. anyone heard about this?? googles not helping out much
Maybe if you change rom, the problem will be solved, or so it would need
sorry for my bad english, i`m from romania
It's very simple.
When you turn on Wi-Fi, battery power or chip(I don't know exactly) need to split for Wi-Fi and mobile data.
Correct me if I am wrong
Sorry if you don't understand my English.

Paulius

[Q] One click 3G ON and MOBILE DATA ON

Is there any app out there that can toggle both MOBILE DATA and 3G mode at the same time? I don't like my cell working in 3G mode for talk, but I do like 3G for internet. So I would like to toggle both at the same time. There are some apps which you can program to do stuff like that, in a sequence I think, but I don't remember the names. An specific app for that would be welcome also. When toggle off it would turn off both 3G and mobile DATA.
This is motorola razr d3 XT920 with android 4.1
anyone???
I believe no one has answered your question yet because it doesn't really make much sense in its present form. 3G IS Mobile Data.

That's not quite right. MOBILE DATA means operator (cell phone company) data... it can be 2G, 3G, 4G ... what I mean in my question is a program that would turn on 3G data mode (phone can work both in 2G and 3G, so set it to 3G) AND activate MOBILE DATA (meaning the phone can use the network operator data).

I am quite aware of what Mobile Data is. But your point is that Mobile Data means any 2g/3g/4g and you want to turn on 3G and Mobile Data? How does that make it more clear, exactly? If you have 3G on, then you are using your Mobile Data from your network operator / cell phone company.

There is an option in android to TURN ON/OFF mobile data. There's also an option to choose 2G ONLY, 3G ONLY, 2G/3G AUTO
so they are 2 options, yes.

I own a cell phone repair shop. I'm quite familiar with how mobile data works. What I don't understand is what you are trying to do and nothing you have said so far is making it any clearer.

So you are a little dumb i'm afraid, because it's more than clear at this moment. Perhaps you DON'T WANT to understand just to not accept that you weren't right from the beggining.

Unfortunately no man, no. I'm 100% sure that I've perfectly explained everything. So it's a question of smartness.

Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean that it isn't perfectly explained.

Edit:
The point is, what you are wanting to do might make sense in your head, but you are not articulating it in a way anyone is able to figure out. I've asked quite a few friends into phones and no one else has understood either.
