[Q] Is the S2 breaking headphones?? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

OK. So I have looked ALL over the forums and interwebs and I haven't found anything that relates to the problem i'm having!
I have had my S2 for almost 2 years and it has never failed me. Let's say about a year ago I was using my official samsung headphones when the right side stopped working. Considering that it could be the phone's problem I used the headphones in other devices (inclusing pc) and realised that the headphones had the same problem, right side was dead.
So, I tried my sister's headphones (official), worked great for about a week, then the same happened. Right headphoned died!
Then I bought some similar headphones, worked great for 2 days, then....caput! Right side dies!!!
I have tried settings, looking inside audio jack, fiddle around with headphone cable. I HAVE NO CLUE!
Is anyone finding this a problem? Has it happened to anyone else? Is this a common problem with the S2?
I am running Android Jellybean 4.1.2.
I am not rooted and I don't want to take my phone apart. I'm starting to think the S2 is eating away at headphones in general, only the right side.
Thanks in advance!

That's a new one on me! Seems like too many sets of headphones to be pure coincidence, although if they are all from a similar batch of headphones, maybe Samsung has a bad batch? I don't know what you would find from taking your phone apart, but I have had mine apart to replace the charging port and a again to replace the volume control rocker. I have to say the S2 is one of the easiest devices to take apart and put back together, with plenty of videos on Youtube so you don't have to guess. Your call though, of course!

Headphone jack problems...

I got new headphones about a week ago (shure se535) and had been using them with my note for at least twenty hours already. Yesterday while walking to work I was using them with my note and they were working just fine, and same with right after. Then when I was getting ready for bed I wanted to listen to some music so I popped them in and picked a song and only the left side worked! so I threw them in my laptop and they both worked. Tried them in the note.. only the left works.
When I push on the headphone jack slightly to one side, the signal returns to the other ear.. I checked for lint in the hole but it still looked brand new. It seems as if the little connector inside the jack for the right side has somehow become almost flush with the rest of the jack, if not pushed in somehow. The weird thing is, when I tried it with the stock headphones with mic, both sides worked! wtf!. It doesn't make any sense lol.
What should I do? Send phone in for warranty repair? Has anyone else had similar problems?
It happens to me too. But it's random.
ParaNOTE Android
I had the same issue with my old Shure headphones the other day. The Samsung headset works fine with the Note. The Shures work fine with my laptop. It's intermittent though with the Note.
This is discouraging to hear. 3.5mm jacks have been in use for so freaking long that you'd think there wouldn't be any problems...
I'm worried that if I do go to Telus and get a repair done that they will say there is no problem and not even touch it. I wonder why my $500 shures out of the blue lost connection, yet the cheapo OEM headphones work lol. I'm very careful to not let anything put pressure on the jack when plugged in..
Sigh.

[Q] Right side audio does not work - hardware issue. Need expert help

Alright, So how my problem came to be is that i plugged in my phone to a projector through the AUX port. Looking back on it, i must have put in the wrong cable (input instead of output) or that the voltage on the projector used a much higher current than what my phone could handle. At the time, this froze my phone, rendering it useless until I did a battery pull. I thought this was odd but didnt think much of it. After this, when i wanted to listen to some music and noticed that my Beats headphones right side had no audio being emitted. After trying things to fix it i realized it wasn't the headphones that are broken, but the phone itself. I does not output any right side audio to the AUX. I knew at this point it wasn't a software issue, but I tried anyway, so I changed ROMs, music player, settings, everything.
So i accepted that, and did some research online and found a replacement speaker and AUX port for my Galaxy S3. $8, all I got to do is wait for it to arrive. It arrived today, so I instanltly opened up my phone to replace the part. installation was a success, however it did not work (obviously because I'm writing this thread)
So here lays my problem. I believe I blew a fuse/short circited my phone in some area when I hooked it up to the projecter. And this is not just this one phone either. My friends Xperia Pro mini sk17i was also affected by the same projecter. The only difference is that neither sides of his audio work. unfortunatly due to the age of his phone he can't buy a spare part anymore, so he couldnt try and get a new AUX port, although we now believe that it is not the problem.
If you need anymore details I am more than happy to give them to you. Please, I dont want to ship my phone in to Samsung to fix it.
Thanks guys.
Cheers
bump. No one knows anything?

Headphone Jack Sound Problems

Hi there, I recently bought an HTC amaze and I love it so far, but I do have one problem. When I use any pair of headphones or 3.5mm jack my music will play out of both sides, but it's much quieter on the right side. I've tested this with many sources and nothing has worked so far. Is this a common problem? I have 30 days to return the phone but I'd really rather not if I don't have to.
Not an issue on my Amaze.
Have you tried different headphones? Or maybe one of you ears is going bad.
Haha... Definitely not my ears. I've tried several headphones and aux cables and none have worked. Guess I'm going to have to return it. I figured it was probably a hardware issue.
Before you do that try using compressed air in the headphones jack to see if there maybe something in there.

That was actually my first guess. It almost looks like it won't go all the way in, but even with tons of force it won't go down any further. Looks like I'll be using bluetooth headphones.

[Q]Mic issues on UK SIII

Hi all,
Not been on here for a while and sorry if this is in the wrong place.
Wife has dropped her Galaxy S3, then kids decided to help it with water.
Replaced the cracked glass, cleaned everything with alcohol and now phone looks fine and screen works, back keys work (after a few attempts).
But i have two issues remaining and i thought i would see if your experience can help me out with whether i should give up and sell for parts or there's something i'm missing.
Nothing coming through on the Mic, even if i connect a 3.5mm headset. Tried to go with a bluetooth headset as a workaround but it couldn't even find my Plantronics M55.
I'm not sure if the Mic issues started after the accident or after the recent OTA update
Any suggestions/pointers would be appreciated.
Factory reset has also been done to rule out the junk she installs on it
Thanks in Advance

[Q] Only left earbud works, jack problem

Hello,
Here is my problem: Suddenly for no reason at all, the R earbud stopped working. My thought was: "Oh well, it happens with earphones", after that i bought some earphones without microphone which had much more clearer sound, and both of earbuds (R&L) worked well, untill few days ago, suddenly the right one (R), drop dead. I thought that it was again earphone problem, but I've tried to put them to my laptop, stereo, etc. and they worked just fine. So, I thought:"It must be audio jack problem". And it was, because now only left one works, and I must twist earphone plug in a strange way for both of earbuds to work but it is impossible to me to hold them all the time like that.
My brother has also galaxy S3, so I borrowed his original Samsung earphones and I didn't have to twist them or bend them. They just worked fine, both of earbuds. So I've done some searching over the internet and I've learned that it could be some contact problem in jack, that one contact is loose. My question is, how to fix that fast and cheap, because I'm cheap and lazy bastard. I would like to know if there is any solution to my problem so i won't have to go to Samsung service. I've seen that there are replacement parts for audio jack + speaker on eBay, any experiences with that?
Best regards!
