I hate to post this twice, but I wasn't getting any hits in the Q&A section and thought there might be more people in this section.
Anyway, I recently had my phone repaired by HTC. They replaced the screen and motherboard. For the first week, it worked fine. Then all of a sudden the camera stopped working. I did a factory reset (running MeanBean) and it worked again. A day later it stopped again. I tried a different ROM, and now I have a stock ROM on there. Still no luck. I took the phone apart (warranrty "void" sticker fell off when I opened the MEID cover...) and unplugged the camera ribbon cable and plugged it back in, still no good. Both the front and rear cameras do not work.
Think buying a new camera would help? Or Motherboard problem?
This thread is now closed, as your first thread is in the correct location.
Thank you

I've read a few posts here with similar problems but the solutions (if any) haven't worked for me.
My wifi started to switch off intermittently. The "switch" icon in Settings would move across to the "ON" position but would then move right back to "OFF". Then after several hours the wifi would magically work again. Now it has stopped working altogether. I tried going back to GB including wiping data and cache then went forward to JB 4.1.2. No luck. I even tried GS2ROMNuke in between and Siyah kernel. I'm now back where it all started with WanamLite Clean & Fast & Pure Stock Themed 4.1.2
I opened the phone and checked for internal battery leakage but there was only a tiny amount and that was still on the battery itself, none on the circuit board.
At this stage I have just about given up. Has anyone managed to recover from this situation?
Of course it happened just 3 months out of warranty

Hey bro, sorry to hear about your problem. Have you tried testing the Wi-fi after installing a new ROM without updating or changing the stock kernel?

I think I have... not 100% sure though. Might go back to stock and try again though. Such a PITA... I was going to upgrade to a Note 3 and pass this S2 on to a family member. :crying:
Success!
I'm sorry to resurrect a long dead thread.
I just wanted to let you know I finally fixed my wifi issue. The problem was (as in many cases) the battery near the wifi chip, leaking. Although I had previously opened the phone and cleaned the PCB with isopropyl alcohol, I hadn't noticed that the track between one of the resistors and the wifi chip, had been eroded. I scratched some of the covering off the track and tried to measure continuity to one side of the resistor but got an open circuit. After clumsily soldering a piece of fine wire from the resistor to the scratched piece of track, wifi was restored.
I really can't believe it. I had previously inspected the board close up and thought that no erosion had taken place. But now after taking some time (and some beer) I found the fault.
Some feedback for Samsung... you *****es! How can you fit such a weakness to, what was, your flagship phone? This issue has hit so many users. I have read many many posts here and on other forums complaining about wifi problems with the SGS 2. Unfortunately for me this fault occurred when I was a few weeks out of my 2 year warranty
This was not an easy soldering job. I am fairly good at fine soldering but attaching a wire to a SMD resistor so small was really difficult. It may come off in the future but at least I now what and where the fault is now.
Once again, sorry to resurrect the old thread.
FYI the resistor that was affected was the one that sits by itself at right angles to the other 4. Unfortunately it is nearest the battery.
I've been having a problem with my phone. I recently had the motherboard and screen replaced by HTC. I'm now running MeanBean, and the camera will not start. It started working after I did a factory reset, but it stopped working again now. Is this a hardware issue?
I tried updating to the 4.3 camera apk, but I get the message, "Unable to connect to Camera" when using that application. Is it possible the cable to the camera is loose?
Update again. I took the phone apart and reconnected the ribbon cables for the camera. Maybe they weren't seated correctly. My Void sticker fell off after opening the cover after getting my phone back from repairs. So I had nothing to lose by taking the phone apart... Plus, I don't feel like waiting another month for them to fix it anyway. So I'm glad this worked (for now). I'll try and update in a few weeks if it is or isn't working still.
Well that didn't last long. Once again, can't connect to the camera.
My only suggestion would be to contact HTC. They usually have a warranty period on their work
I was afraid of that, haha. They took so long the first time. I had an EVO 3D I bought for a temp phone, but the service was so terrible on that, I would rather not go back to it for another month.
Hello:
This is my first post here. I bought my G5 a few months ago and everything worked perfectly, but yesterday, without falling to the ground or getting wet, the phone began to do odd things and I turned off the phone. When I connected the original cable to charge the battery I got this message (I hope you can watch the link):

I tried in all ways to turn the phone back on (removing the battery and putting it back), but I always get this message. What do you think?
Sorry for my bad English. Thank you very much. Greetings.

Although having never seen this image before, I think we can infer from this that it's telling you to replace the bottom section of the phone.
Maybe you could try cleaning the contacts inside with isopropyl alcohol and the ones on the bottom section itself possibly also the usb port.
I'm assuming you don't have the cam plus or any of the other so called friends you could try in it's place.
You can buy replacement bottom sections online but depending on the part of the world you live in you may have to wait a while for delivery.
Good luck.
Take note if ordering a replacement that there are two types of bottom section one is labelled GL and the other NA, GL is for the global variants of the phone the other for North America.

So, here's what happened: I dropped my phone in a bucket of water, but got it out really fast and turned it off immediately. Now, I let it dry completely and it works fine, except that the rear camera doesn't. I can read it's info on AIDA64, but the camera by itself won't work. In the default camera app it gives me a error that it can't connect to the camera.
I did open the phone and let it dry like that and I even wanted to disassemble it completely, but stopped halfway and put it back together. Now, I did unplug the rear camera, but I plugged it back in and there was no water on the camera or that part of the motherboard and ever since I can use it again, the rear camera doesn't work anymore. Tried to unplug and plug it back in again to get it to work, but no luck.
Anyone have any idea how to fix it?

Maybe you should buy another sensor..

Well, sure, I'm just trying to figure out if the camera itself is broken and not working or if it's the board that messed something up.
Easiest way to find out would be swapping working camera sensor from another Redmi with yours. Good look with that, water damage is the worst
I'll look into it, thanks for the help guys.
Hello, so I bought this phone with a broken screen and also was told the microphone sometimes does not work. I searched about it and seemed like its a software issue so figured once I fix it and install Lineage OS issue will be gone. Unfortunately it persists, and I noticed that by pressing hard it works. Close to ordering a new part with the microphone I noticed the small contacts under the board, bent those and it started to work, but only for a day, now not working again. I am not sure if a new board is gonna help, anyone else had the same issues, is it the microphone board or a problem in the mainboard or cables? I am close to stop throwing money on this and not getting it to work, already bought the screen and back cover.
Edit. I gave it another try, took it apart, brushed the contacts and rib cable contacts with alcohol, works very well again, time will tell for how long.
Edit2. Stopped working again, if I plug in the charger and move the cord a bit it starts to work, but every time I unplug stops working. Decided to put in the final 5€ for a new board and see if helps, fingers crossed..
Hey! So what happened after you changed the mic board, is it working fine?
P.S. sorry for replying to this 6 months late but I am also having the same problem with one of my phones.
flash agni kernel.it has solved my problem
