Dears
Really I need your help my mobile Xperia Z dropped down in the rainy water and I search it for 10 min and then I call it to know where is it, I find it ringing umder water an I know that's under water when I saw the mobile light, I pickup it from the water and it's fully working at this time, then I thought to close it and wash it by clean water and then this make it not working, finally I go to sony and they said that the water come inside the mobile into headphones and SIM ports and the indicator color come pink and this is not under guarantee, so I come back and dry it by the hot air from the hair dryer and now all functions work perfectly except big problem that the power button it's not work for switch on the mobile and I can only switch on the mobile in case that connect the mobile with the charger, I can't lock my screen and also I can't unlocked the screen when it's locked automatically.
I try everything
1 install new and latest software
2 hard reset with power button + volume up, one vibration and three vibrations
3 resets factory from inside the mobilr and erase all data from internal memory
Please advice for your Solution
Also u can mail me on [email protected]
Damn I thought the Xperia Z was waterproof. Must be because the rainy water is really wet.
Anyway the mods are going to close this pretty soon. Ask your question here http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/help

Hi,
I installed a screen protector that used this fluid when installing the protector (you spray it on the screen and the protector and smush them together). I got a lot of the fluid inside the phone when it was on (I took battery cover off and it was dripping through). Now the phone is acting weird, I am randomly getting USB connected notice, the whole screen has flipped sideways and I cant get it to flip back, when I try to turn off screen flipping the button doesn't do anything (I actually cant turn it on the button just doesn't do anything). Its says media scanning sometimes randomly, and I get this wierd screen after pressing the unlock button from a locked state, a screen Ive never seen before, it has like buttons for home and some others, and when I press home it takes me to my unlock code. Its just acting bizarre. Anyone have any ideas what is going on?
Thanks
If it was dripping through the phone It probably fried mutliple things inside the phone. Hence the problems your having

Put it in a container with rice or some bread. It will extract the moisture. Don't plug it in until you get it dry. Good luck.

Hello folks, my s3 touch screen suddenly stopped working but the display is clear with no defects, it has even no dead pixel. I usually leave my phone beside me in the bed but I didn't roll over it. The last thing I saw on my phone it is in critical battery state (2%) but when I tried to access my screen it won't respond. I usually use my phone heavily (heavy app processing, multi tasking)
Things I did:
My phone is running stock 4.1.2 (before factory reset)
I did cache wipe and factory reset
Full charged my battery to 100%
Pressure checked the screws if it was loose
NOT DROPPED, NO WATER DAMAGE
Weird liquid / oil(?) leaking out in the bottom part when I first opened the back cover, and some sticking in the back cover. I AM definitely curious about this if it has something to do with the touch failure.
No battery leak. I thoroughly checked the battery for any leak trace, none.
Functional parts:
System Recovery Console
Volume buttons ok. Power button OK.
Soft keys button ok. It's working perfectly on welcome screen from fresh factory reset (with water sound and vibration)
Home button OK.
I can do a screenshot from doing Power + Home button.
I purchased this phone in Spain, still under warranty but sending it back costs alot and takes time. Right now I am living in the Philippines. I am hoping I could find remedy on this as soon as possible as I need it for work.
Anybody can give me insight what's wrong about this? A loose connector perhaps?
Leaking liquid probable digitizer failure .
Return under warranty to the vendor .
not sure on that though, I can also guess it may be moisture from the heat since I use the phone heavily it gets really hot at times.
No, this is not a loose wire or software update -nothing you can do yourself to fix it.

Firstly, double check your settings, make sure it hasn't slipped somehow to vibrate.
Then open the sd card slot and check what color your litmus paper is, if white you're ok, if pink then check this thread:

Report back with what you find.

I haven't put this instrument in any water - but the previous instrument that I DOA'd was put under a stream of water for quite a while and didn't have any water damage.
I think it's about luck.

I'm sorry but I rinse my Ultra underwater every other day, and like me plenty of other Ultra users, and nothing happened to mine.
I even filled the sink and put it inside, or watched a movie in the bathtub and dipped the phone in to check sound output underwater.
So point is, your device has something wrong, or you modified it the wrong way, or you let some of the caps open.
Either way, no reason to throw sh*t at Sony for lying, when they are telling the truth and lots of people can prove it.
Backstory: It's been 2 years when I had water damaged my phone. The whole device was completely filled with water. The
phone went dead. I shook most of the water off via micro usb and sim card slot. That's when I realised both of my camera
lens were fogged inside, I tried to open up the glass back of the phone (to remove the battery and dry them up).
Unfortunately, the glass back was shattered but still mostly in place as it was glued tightly. I have no choice but to ditch
my phone and kept it in my desk. After years of ignorance, I finally went back to check out to find out that the lens are dry
(all of the water might as well have been evaporated. I charged it. Surprisingly, the notification light lit in red. After charging
it for 2 hours, I decided to power on the phone.
Issue : The display seemed dead, but I managed to take a few screenshots using -vol + power button. Just by listening to the sound of the
screenshots I took, I don't know if my phone is considered to be fully functioning (minus the LCD screen).
Can someone please tell me if my phone is still working fine as it can emit sound because I'm considering replacing the LCD screen
Put your phone in a rice tub with all the flaps opened and let it wait there for 1-2 days, the water should be gone completely.

Alright, I will try my best to make it dry. Also, thanks for the quick reply mate! :good::laugh:
About 6 weeks ago the biometric scanner on my G5 started working intermittently, then after a week or so of this, it stopped working altogether and then it disappeared from security settings too!
Then next the power button stopped working in the OS, it works fine for turning the phone on, but once on the power button is completely unresponsive!
I'm trying to get LG to replace it but they are dragging their heels, I read something about a dud battery causing the issue possibly?
If anyone can offer some advice that would be awesome, I have already reset the phone back to factory settings and that didn't help.
Cheers!

I never had issues with the fingerprint scanner but I can relate to the power button issue. (E.g. not being able to reboot the phone or turn it off)
What ROM and version are you on?
I had the issues on MM stock.
On Nougat neither Stock nor custom gave me any issues with the power button.
In my case it seems to have been a software issue.
I'm on Nougat, so it's not that

I am experiencing the same issue. The fingerprint option had disappeared from the phone completely. I tried reset, hard reset the phone. Now the fingerprint option is back, and it won't record any fingerprint at all.
I ordered the part in attempt to replace the power button, aka fingerprint. Hope that should solve the the issue.

My powerbutton didn't response either. I opened the phone. Lifted gentley the 10 pins who connects the powerbutton. It works
The same i did with the gps pins (another tread)
What a bad constructed phone.
Hope it helps you
Hi there just wanted to mention my experience from today. I bought a g5 with the power button not working but the fingerprint scanner did. I ordered a part from eBay and replaced it fine.
Then when I put it back together, it wouldn't turn on still. I took it apart about 3 times and tried to redo it until someone online mentioned to clean the gold pins with rubbing alcohol... Well I was getting ready to do that when I looked at the pins on the motherboard that makes contact with the power button part and.... A gold pin was missing. A drop or something must've made it fall out. I barely touched the one next to it and that one fell out. It had a hook that went to the underside of the metal thing and it popped out of my tweezers and I was never able to find the piece after that....
What a dumb design that they made. Those pins should not be there without being attached to the metal that's there.
Interesting I'll try cleaning the contacts first I was thinking it's strange that it's not working as you can still feel the button clicking when you press.
Just taken mine apart and cleaned the contacts with pure alcohol what did strike me was the pitting on the connections for the power button (see attached image) the pitting wasn't present on any of the other contacts in the back of the phone but the good news is it worked and my power button works again I'll update if it stops again anytime soon when I'll probably try ordering a new one as they're about £4 in the UK!
Intermittent button action all day today now not working ordered a new one will keep you updated!
