Software issue that may be resolved soon.

Haven't noticed it, but I'll check it out tomorrow. Time for some sleep.

if you sent it in for this buzzing then it will get sent back. Possibly a new device, but will still have the issue.
it happens when the speaker is producting static and no output. until the speaker turns off.

I do hear some buzzing if I play a song and there are some quiet parts in the song, but it doesn't buzz after the song is finished. Same with YouTube. I can only hear it if I hold the speaker up to my ear, and since I just noticed it now and I had to "look" for it, it doesn't bother me since it's not noticeable under normal usage.

I have received a new phone from warranty and it does not have the buzzing that I was experiencing with the previous phone.
I'd link an audio sample to my issue, however xda won't let me.

Maybe electrical interference?
Move the tablet away from any other electronic devices (especially mobile phones) and see if it persists.
It hasnt really been near any phones..my phone is about 1 foot away from the touchpad..I have had it closer before and it hasn't made a noise..
I think I know what you mean, the sound is like a short buzz or "Donk" sound. I sometimes get it when I first click on the pad or when I swipe up to close an app.
The only thing I can think of that I did was installing the increase sound patch and later removed the patch. It started after that.

I got this after going through various patches, although I didn't install the sound patch. It went away for me after a few reboots.
To the OP, you may have abnormally good hearing and can hear the white noise speakers make when they're activated, try it with some other devices, see if you hear the same buzz, if not, call HP and get a replacement.

Touchpad weird sound
Ok so i just got my Touchpad 16GB yesterday and while i was playing around with it, i noticed it doing a weird sound like when those old speakers where powered on. I updated to 3.0.2 and it still does it.
Ps: Its not the WEE easteregg sound
Not sure what sound you mean but it shouldn't be making any noises you don't want it to. Get in touch with HP to see if they can fix it for you.

Well, i bought it from ebay (from canada) so im not sure if they will even think about checking it.
It makes that sound only when its not in 'mute' and when im using it. When the screen is locked, nothing happens. It sounds like a little shutter noise of half a second length.
Hey guys,
I've been having an issue with the volume on my phone. There is very little sound coming out through the speaker on the back. To be able to hear anything at all, I have to stick the speaker right up to my hear and even then you can barely hear any sound even though I've put the volume on max. When I plug headphones in, the sound is fine. Only when I'm trying to listen to music without earphones or trying to hear my notifications and ringtone when someone calls me, it gets very little sound. I'm using AOKP Jelly Bean 4.1.2 if that helps. This starting happening when I was using my Nike+ Running app. Music was playing while I was running and then all of a sudden the music stops. I found out that it didn't stop because my music was still going when I plugged in headphones and the sound was still coming out of the speaker but very low that you could not hear it. If you guys have a solution, please help me out. Thanks.

I'm assuming you've tried doing a full wipe before posting this question, as if that fixed there would be no reason to post this question? If not, do that. That's always a trouble shooting step that should be done before posting. If it doesn't fix it, it could be a hardware issue.

Anyone else hear a faint popping sound after 2 seconds of any sound being played ? It sounds like the sound is from the speakers turning off.
Hey
My HTC One does this as well (started a thread about it just recently), and it was the first thing I noticed on the phone when using sound on the keyboard. Extremely annoying and seems to be a wide spread issue.
wide spread? where else have you heard of this problem? does it happen on the international version as well?
Wondering if i should return mine and get another.
Other users have been reporting the issue as well. I'm located in Canada, and members from the US have said their phones have the same problem.
Yea just read your post on the international forum, seem like a widespread issue. Well I hope its just software

Not sure, if I do have it I don't seem to be able to notice it. Where is it most prominent, I tested by starting and stopping Pandora repeatedly.
I believe it is the software keeping the amp on for a bit too long. I would assume this will be fixed with a software update

Make sure you are in a very quiet room, then play something on youtube, then hit pause, and listen very carefully. you should hear a faint popping sound as the speakers turn off after you pause the video.

Ah, I can hear it now. In Pandora as well. Personally it's of a low enough volume level on my device where I don't think I'll find it annoying, but I still hope it's software related. Also seems to not be effected by the volume level or beats being on.

yes i also have this problem. unlock the phone and put ur ear upto the speaker. you will hear static and after a second or 2, a pop. almost like speakers are left on longer than requred...weird.
I could verify, I too was getting that popping sound. It's one of the first things I've noticed as soon as I got the phone home. I'm not trying to be overly OCD cause overall I think this phone is perfect and has none of the other flaws and defect mention on this site.
But I thought I should mention I haven't been able to replicate the popping sound.

this is how my xperia z ultra (C6833, 4.4.2, 14.3.a.0.757) plays notifications
http://i.imgur.com/iD4VkhE.png
this is supposed to be a 2 second long 1KHz tone at -3 dB, almost maximum volume. A simple signal so one can see it clearly.
there is a gap near the start and a very very loud pop before it starts. The pop is off the scale, much louder than what the device supposedly allows any sound to be.
any ideas?
Does this happen with all the notification sounds? If so, it's a really weird issue.
Sent from my C6833 using Tapatalk
all i have tried so far exhibit this behaviour.
going into diagnostics and doing the earphone and speakerphone test in succession stops the problem
but after half a minute it starts doing it again.
i do not have time to go to a sony center these days, but after next week i will
I've had the same thing on some stock ROMs (I don't recall which). There's no such issue on Paranoid Android.

there is no such issue in the other android phones i had, either
This happens to me too. ...very annoying.
Don't really know what to do about that.
Perhaps someone could write a script that whenever media server starts like with notification or ringtone, it starts in low volume and max out very quickly or to the volume level that the user has set so that it doesn't become that "ascending ringtone" function.
And if media server is already active. Like if you are playing a game or music there would be some environment function that the script does not trigger it self because when media is played and a notification comes on it only lower the volume of that stream so the problem does not involve these scenarios. And when the notification ends the volume of the music is reset to its original volume.
So the problem from what I have experienced is that the cracking sound comes only when media server is inactive and starts up.
This idea would work similar to the "ascending ringtone"function. But this applies to all notification streams and not only ringtones.
This is one solution I can come up with. But I don't know how to implement this in a rom.
This might eliminate this pop-cracking sound right before the sound of an notification or ringtone plays
One suggestion is perhaps to make this to a module that installs and activates with Xposed framework?
edit: Oh forgot to mention. Im on slimkat rom with pimped kernel. But it does the same with any other kernel or rom
don't want to ruin it for you but the pop *will* happen, no matter if the volume starts low or high.
i measured it with the volume at the minimum (but not zero) volume. the pop is still there, still louderthan the max volume.
i wonder if we can bring charges against sony for this. we've set the volume to a certain level and the phone not only ignores it but it also produces a sound louder than what is normally possible on the device. *much* louder, not just "quite louder". we're talking four times louder.
Bring charges...
God I hate that sort of attitude. If you have a defective device send it in for repair.

few people report this issue, mostly because they do not understand the gravity of it. I'd wager most peoples' xzu do have this issue.
