Hi ! Is it normal that the display to consume so much energy ?
I still have this amount of battery cuz i haven't use it,but yestarday with open 3g and whatsapp i got only 8-9 hours of use. Is it normal ?

Normal is as normal does, it all depends on what your doing. If your not using cpu intensive tasks then yes I would expect the screen to consume the lions share of the battery.

If you use your phone as you say here then as ghostofcain says, yes your screen usage will be the highest, if you don't use your phone much then Android OS should be the highest.

If u wan ur battery to last longer, set the brightness manually. Don't use auto brightness. And dun go to places with low signal. Try to use wifi too. Basic battery saving tips.

Battery life improvements in ICS

Hey guys,
Since so much information is thrown around every day about battery life and dual core smartphones, I have a simple question that needs answering (probably a simple answer but I want actual clarification). Will dual core smartphone users see improved battery life performance in ICS? I thought this would be implemented in GB, but I still notice my battery tends to drain at a quick pace on medium use (I don't get the idle drain others do).
Thanks for the responses!

I don't see what a new version of OS would have to do with battery life.
What depends on the OS, is downclocking the CPU and GPU depending on hardware lock, and this is done already in Gingerbread.
At the moment you can get additional battery life using freezing bloat, using custom kernel with battery saving profiles and disabling data when you aren't using it.
I am having great battery life on my Atrix (2 days of solid use).

What do you mean by SOLID use? How long was your screen on? Are you on 4g? What apps do you run.. two days of minimal use I am assuming...

Nope, not minimal use.
Wifi on most of the time. Screen on for 4 hours. Music player on for 5 hours. Occasional GPS usage.

Galaxy S III Will overheat?

Hi, wish to ask a question to whom tried sgs3 in uk presentation or already own it
The sgs2 was well known for overheating, expecially under the rear camera, when intensive use
Do The sgs3 suffer the same problem?

I think you mean will the SGS3 get warm? Overheating would cause most likely reboot and the phone would be pretty much unusable.
I dont own the phone but Ill say that there is a 99% chance that it gets warm when in use. All my devices (SGS,SGS2,Prime,Ideos X5) get hot from the back when you use them for intensive web browsing or gaming.
Hell yes.....when we start overclocking it
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
gettin warm and overheating are totally different. and yes with intense use all high end devices will get warmer. but overheating.... i dont think it would happen
It should run at slightly lower temperatures doing high intensity activities than other devices because of Samsung's High-K+ Metal Gate technology - the iPad 2,4 revision uses the same process and runs about a degree cooler than the older iPad2 revisions. There is less voltage leak being dissipated as heat with this set up. See Anandtech's article on the iPad2,4 revision for more detail.
Not much hot even on charge it's showing 35.5C. See attached.

Did the GS3 became hot in the 15 minutes of web-browsing?Like the GS2 does?

Look, I gotta be honest, I expected it to became hotter...
Well actually it doesn't get that much hot, it's even colder than the GS2 in normal usage.

Yes i know but that's a general indication of temp since if cpu is overheating the battery will become hot as well.

[Q] Xperia P - Update Rooted Device

Hello. I have an Xperia P. I will root my phone but stay in the stock rom. Just need to gain the admin access. If Sony will publish a new update, can i update my rooted phone? Or will it be broken or brick?
If you did not unlock the bootloader... But you will lose root.

If you just root without unlocking the bootloader,
Yes you can receive official updates from Sony.
The thing is NXT series can attain root without unlocking the bootloader also.
But if you unlock your bootloader and try to receive official updates, you may brick your phone !

To overclock you need a kernel that can be overclocked.
The device may then be slightly faster, and will drain the battery much faster, and possibly damage.
Realy, this is not the phone for gaming, you can buy a better one for gaming (not that much better) for about $250 from China.
What you can do, it try to disable some feature you don't use or replace some apps with mods, for less lag and better battery life, or try one of the ROMs that are out there.

There is that "Force GPU rendering" in developer options, you won't see much saving from it.
Better identify what is causing drain that you can give up, and disable it.
What kind of battery life you have now, standby and screen on?

I lasts one day with minimum usage. I need at least two days. And in the dialer there is a lag that can make me crazy easily.

I use dialer and phone from [ JB ] [Apps ] [P,U,Go,Sola! ] Dark Themed Xperia Apps it may have a little delay when first oppened, the call log is laggy in portrait modenot much to do about it, but no lag when making or receiving a call. It also has speed dial and the phone has call recording.
"minimum usage" we can't compare.
My today stats are, 60% drain for a day and 7 hours, wifi and BT on, 3G data off,, screen on 1 hour 20 minutes, and 10 minutes call time, apps running viber, facebook and yahoo messenger.
I'm with The Dark ROM, and with stamina mode you can get over 3 days without charging.
+ use Greenify from Play store. It is really good app. for better battery life.

Can anyone tweak COC to use less battery power

Hello
This is a prob faced by all coc users....it uses too much power and battery gets hot.....can anyone change its coding or something changing its use of GPU AND GNU or whatever to less battery drain?

I doubt anyone will reply because:
- Clash of Clans is closed source and seems to be obfuscated also, so editing is a pain and may even violate its licence (didn't read it)
- Trying to optimize a game is super hard even if you would have the source code in your hands, especially if the game does a lot (calculate, grapics, network and others)
So best would be to try and get support from the COC developers directly.

Then perhaps anyone can develop a module to allow an app to only use a limited amount of battery energy coz some person tested coc's use of energy in terminal emulator. Before coc was launched the cpu usage was 2-3% and battery drain was merely 1% per 2 mins max but when it was launched cpu usage rose up to 30% and battery drain was 3% per 2 mins minimum! Can anyone develop or tell me a module that lets an app only use a specific amount of cpu and allows only specific amount of battery energy?

You could use an app like Kernel Adiutor for example. It even has a Tasker plugin, so you are able to set the maximum CPU frequency to a desired maximum value if you open COC.

Tweaks/Apps/Mods for PERFORMANCE

Heyy everyone,
I am looking for tweaks/apps/mods etc which can increase the performance of our Mido. Sd625 seems to me like a little downside on raw power. It's fine in day to day tasks, but games like Asphalt Xtreme tend to lag.
Also if you can suggest something for battery saving.
Or maybe some better alternative to below mentioned stuffs.
Here are the things I have currently been using..
~AOSPex
~Faust Kernel, with Gaming mode while in games.
~Greenify
~Servicely, to disable unwanted services, mostly Google play services.
~SD Maid, to freeze unwanted apps and clean up regularly.
~LSpeed, for all sort of tweaks.
~Trimmer, for file system trim.
~Speed up Swap, for adjusting swappiness.
Anything apart from this you guys know of?
I would be pleased to know.
Wrong place to ask.

If you're using MIUI then go to Dev options, set memory optimization to low. Free RAM is waste, I don't care about battery life which the RAM takes. App launch times matter for me.

Okay, use some app like Kernel Adiutor (not a typo), you can tweak a whole lot of things there, cpu governor for instance.
Also, I've experienced using Greenify benefits in performance gains in short term only, long term usage of Greenify may degrade performance. Repeating, this is my experience and I claim nothing about it.
For performance things, I don't really tweak my phone much, after trying nearly everything (except custom kernel) it seems like keeping phone to normal probably gives better results on long term. Just use that (1st line) tool to tweak small things. Also, just to tell ya, I don't play games.
Tell something about which ROM you're using. Also, are you experiencing lags over there?
