Google Wallet Tap and Pay on KitKat - HTC Droid DNA

I've tried numerous Android 4.4 ROMs attempting to get Tap and Pay to work with Google Wallet and have had no success. I've tried changing tons of settings, enabled android Beam, disabled it, etc. Can't get it to work for the life of me. I know that KitKat is supposed to bypass Verizon's NFC check (because they want you to only use Isis Wallet) but haven't ever been able to use it.
Just wondering if anyone else has been able to use Google Wallet's Tap and Pay. I've never used a device that was capable of doing this so I'm wondering if it's an issue with this feature not working on the ported ROMs for our phone, or if I'm just trying to use Tap and Pay at a checkout that doesn't support Google Wallet?

Android 4.4 (AOSP) is missing a "driver" for the NFC chip in our device. So even though it looks like it should work, it won't work until that gets sorted out

[Q] Help with Google Wallet on rooted SGS3

So I would like to use Google Wallet locally, and I have access to US based CC's, however, upon installation my SGS told me that "Unfortunately google wallet isn't yet available for your phone" or something, when in the US it works just fine on SGS3's... I call that location discrimination!
So anyways, I read somewhere on xda that I need to root my phone in order to be able to use Google wallet probably, but even after this, nothing! Gives me the same error every single time I open the app, regardless if my GPS is on or not! It's driving me nuts, I tell you.

Google Wallet

I have always been under the impression that google wallet required hacks to get it installed. I was able to install it off of the Play Store without any issue on a stock 4.3 Verizon S4.
I have not been able to test to see if NFC works, but I am curious on if it should be this easy.
since version 2.0 every device can install it but tap to pay is still limited to certain devices.
you still have to "hack" it to use tap to play
they made it installable everywhere because of their new send money to people feature

Google wallet tap and pay declined

Hello,
I have a nexus 4 with 4.4.2, and the latest wallet app.
I have a problem where I attempt to use tap and pay and the terminal declines it. It used to work on an older version, but I did a lot of flashing, etc and I assumed I messed up the secure element. I thought that 4.4.2 would fix it because it does not use the secure element, but it did not. Now I broke my phone and got a new one(Same model). It still does not work.
Things I have tried.
Delete all devices in wallet.google.com
Update all information and verify account at wallet.google.com
Try google wallet credit, and a different card.
Reset the app.
Reflash the latest factory image.
Tried different locations (Vending machine and 7-11)
I have contacted support and they are completely helpless. They do not even see the attempts on their side.
Anyone have any suggestions? It does not seem to be my device, rather something on googles end. I feel like it is an issue with my virtual mastercard.

Google Wallet

So I did a quick search and didn't see anything in the forums but I wanted to bring this to all AT&T users attention. You can now just install Google Wallet from the app store and the Tap and Pay will work. It actually asks you if you want to use Google Wallet instead of ISIS. Looks like Google Wallet may have won the battle of restricting it to certain phones. I have a rooted stock version of kitkat installed wallet direct from the store and no issues.

LG G5 OS recommendation and app questions

Hey guys,
Long term LG user here, wanting to stick with my good ole G5 despite the age starting to show. As far as I understand, the latest official version of Android that supported the G5 was 8.0, and that's the latest my phone will let me go ofc. Now, the problem is, a bunch of apps no longer work, and Google Play is being weird even after a factory reset, so I can't find a whole bunch of apps such as BlaBlaCar, for example. Like, I know they are there... if I go on another phone they will be too (or through my PC) but if it detects LG G5, it pretends the apps don't exist. Long story short, I'm thinking some of these apps just don't work on older Android versions anymore. That being said, what would you guys suggest? There are hundreds of custom roms out there (or so it seems anyway), but which one works provenly well and offers apps from GStore (or another place, I'm good with that too if there's a reliable store) that actually work? I am a total newbie when it comes to custom roms, so far I've heard about Lineage, but really not sure about anything else. Any tips?
Hi, I would remove the play store and play services, replacing Play services with microg. Microg is an open source reimplementation of Play Services. It is very light, but it's not compatible with apps like Meet and Duo.
Instrad of the play store you can use Aurora Store, you can find it here on XDA. It is an unofficial client for the Play Store that works both with an anonymous account or with your own google account. It can also spoof the phone make and model, so you can be sure you will find all the apps. I'm using Oreo as well, and it still works perfectly with almost any app.
Edit: I tried to download BlaBlaCar on my G5 using Aurora store, it works as expected.
Ah, I see. So what you're saying is don't mess with custom roms at all? But how do I get rid of Play Services if I don't get a custom version of Android working, and to do that I probably need to unlock my phone/boot loader, right? Or do you just mean .. just... don't use Play Store and use Aurora Store instead? Tried the latter, and it definitely works. Now I just need to get rid of Play Store and all that, any recommendations on what to use to do that?
Although custom roms are great because they let you use the newest version of android, unfortunately there are some functions that are not supported, most notably the IR led to use the phone as a remote. Moreover in my opinion the LG camera app, supported only by LG roms, is the best camera app I've ever tried. You can flash TWRP or OrangeFox as recovery, and then remove the play store and play services from there. OrangeFox in particular has a specific 'app uninstall' function that makes very easy to remove apps. That is possible if you can unlock the bootloader. If your phone does not support bootloader unlocking, you can disable the play store from settings->applications or using adb command pm disable. In this case by the way I wouldn't suggest to disable play services, as there would be no way to replace them with microg.
Ah, right, thanks man! I'll give it a shot and see what I can do
