Possibly Bricked Device - Stuck in Kernel Crash - AT&T LG Optimus G

I was reading similar stories in previous posts but I can't find any that directly relate to me. If I boot into the phone normally, I get to a screen that says "DemiGod Crash Handler: Kernel Crash!". It gives me three options, Dload Mode, Reboot and Fastboot. I can use Fastboot to get into TWRP recovery. The screen prior to this is just the Google logo with a lock at the bottom of the screen.
I'm pretty new at unlocking phones, I've only done it once with my Galaxy S2. I don't know how to fix it. I feel like I'm better off since I can access "Dload Mode" as well as TWRP just fine. I don't know what to do after this though. Everything is backed up already since I replaced this phone only a few days ago due to a large crack on the screen. A complete reset is doable. I can provide any information you need.
Related to previous posts, this seems to have been caused by using FreeGee in an attempt to unlock the phone.

Get your device into Fastboot mod and flash the stable kernel and flash the stable ROM on your device in the recovery on your bootloader unlocked device.

Will any kernel for the device work, or does it have to be the stock kernel?

Any kernel will work but the condition is it should have to be designed only for your device and have to be a stable one.
If you have a nice stable ROM for your device with it's own kernel and you are pretty sure that they are stable then use them.
This cases only applies for bootloader unlocked devices.
If you are not sure about any other kernels then you can also use the stock one but the ROM should be then used of a stock android ROM or the ROMs those are supported by the stock kernel.

I just went through TWRP and apparently it does not recognize that I have an external SD card, only the internal storage. This means I can't get the ROM on there then right? Not sure what to do now...
If it's any consolation I have a version of CWM on the internal SD, maybe there's a chance I can install that and it will recognize the SD card?

Remove
external SD card
battery
once
and then again insert them after few minutes.
Make sure you have mounted the ext SD card in the device.
Go to Recovery > Mount > check ext sd card
Make sure your ext SD is in working condition. Test in on any other device.
Make sure you have installed recovery in clean way or just reinstall or try any other recovery.
Some times it is also a bug of a kernel so make sure you are using a right one.
If all of the above are done right way...and still you are getting problem then go to Customer Care and if you give up then relock the bootloader and comeback into stock Android.

I actually did a bit of research and used LGNPST to reflash the stock rom and it worked! I'm so glad I was able to fix it!
If anyone else is having this trouble, I definitely recommend looking at user autoprime's guide in the Android Development section.
Thank you for your help, much appreciated!

Flashed rom, phone broke

I tried to install this ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033653) on my friends Optimus T and something went wrong. I followed the instructions to the letter and after the format of the /system i couldn't actually flash the ROM because everything got deleted so i tried to restore the NANDROID that i had made and i couldn't because there was nothing there and now it just hangs at the boot up screen! PLEASE help me get this fixed
Well... may seem a bit obvious have you tried flashing a different rom from recovery yet? If you get really desperate I can supply you with the kdz file for titanium optimus 509.
Or u cud start a fresh wipe your sd card and store on of your fav roms on it and then flash it with recovery..Start afresh..If u can boot into recovery then no worries

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=946354 Try this rom. it installed just fine on my Optimus T titanium. I used clockwork recovery to do so. assuming you can get to recovery which from turned off hold volume down+home then power. If you can;t get to recovery you will probably have to use this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865479 however you would have to do it from emergency mode instead
Only two options:
1. If you can access the Recovery menu, then clear everything and flash a ROM again.
2. If you cannot, just flashed an official fimware back with kdz (use the links provided in the posts above). Then start all over again.
Simple

I think the issue your having is that adding the ext partion formats the sd card. Thus, the zip you are trying to flash is no longer there and you nandroid was deleted also. Boot back into recovery and select the usb mount option, transfer the zip you want to flash and then flash it. Simples
Ciaox simply missed the line out where is should say copy *************.zip to sd card before the bit about flashing it. I think this time following the instructions to closely caused this lol Man up
thanks mates, got it working with a a CM7 port (actually I had to go through 3 because two didn't have the Market for some reason

Glad you got this resolved. But for future ease of flashing download a flashable zip containing the market. such as the one listed in the instructions here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1072252

[Q] Backup Rom fail to Restore

Hallo,
My HTC Wildfire (Buzz), i made it S-OFF , Rooted it (i guess) and succeessfully changed its rom to MIUI 2.3.7 . Before changing the rom i backed up the stock rom .The problem comes to whenever i boot to recovery and reach to a point where i am to select if i want to install zip file from sd cards and other selection, i am not able to install or access anything from sd card. Even when i tried to restore the backup using Rom Manager it fails me guys !
> I really want to restore the back up or install another very stable rom compatible with my HTC Wildfire
> When i hold vol- and power buttons and try to go to recovery, the phone hangs at the Revolutionary logo !
THE MIUI is slow and can't withstand stress as every time i try to do something fast it displays error messages. Pleasse help !!!

I had this problem you mention with CWM in my N1: it couldn't access my sdcard. I finally had to flash a different recovery (Amon Ra in my case) which reads the sdcard with no problem at all.

ODIN is for Samsung phones. You need to run an official HTC RUU (ROM Update Utility) to restore HTC phones to stock.
@OP -
Download the RUU exe from the link below, connect your phone to computer via USB and run it as administrator. Your phone will be completely erased and restored to stock. I;m not sure if SD card will erased too, so make a backup of all its contents to be safe.
http://htcruu.com/securekey.php?fil...3.55.24H_3.35.19.25_release_151892_signed.exe
If you're from India, then run this instead -
http://htcruu.com/securekey.php?fil...45.55.24_3.35.15.31_release_142213_signed.exe
You can find a list of more RUUs for your phone, for other regions and carriers at http://htcruu.com/?dir=Buzz
You've certainly messed something up, and your SD card might be corrupted too, so if you're not very knowledgeable about what you're doing, you're better off restoring to stock and starting over rather than trying a bunch of different fixes and messing up your phone more.

Cwm can't mount anything.

I rooted and installed cm10.1 for my brother on his fascinate but im not used to Samsung devices because mine is sony. Now he wants me to switch it because of game lags but when I tty to flash him another ROM it says can't mount system can't mount data can't mount cache etc. Can somebody help And tell me what's wrong. It says the same error can't mount even when trying to make a backup. So if anyone knows how to fix this please help.

Will less start with some specs...
What is the exact version of recovery.
What is the exact build date and version of ROM you have and ROM you want to run.
And the exact phone model you have.
Feel free to include a:: settings, about phone, screenshot with that info as well as include what is written under the battery of:: model and:: sku
Then what is type and class speed of the micro sd card.
.
OK the model is sch i500. I'll have to get my Bros phone and check the other stuff as I'm not sure. The SD card is class 4 sandisk 8 GB. The ROM was cm10.1 (I'll check the build datelater and post don't know at the moment but I think it was stable) and I was going to flash him slim bean. I need to check cwm version and then I'll post back. Thanks for responding. Anyways I'm pretty sure its a cwm problem because the cwm I had installed first worked fine but when I updated it it stopped workimg. The problem is when I try to flash a different recovery it gives same can't mount anything issue. So can i just flash it with Odin or something? I'm not too familiar with that as I'm used to flaahtool. Anyways I'll provide the rest of the info later when I can get w screenshot of his phone

Hi, it might be easier using twrp recovery, to flash that you can go to twrp website, download the recovery image for your phone then download flashify from the play store, and use that to flash the recovery image( you should have a file explorer or root browser lite)
Once you flash that and are in recovery wipe cache, davlik, data and system then flash the rom and gapps............make a backup before wiping and flashing a new rom!

CWM Can't Mount Data / SD Card (internal and external)
I am experiencing a similar issue and looking for answers. I have T-mobile galaxy s4. I have cwm 6.0.3.8 installed and on Packman 4.3 build -1. Whenever I try to do a back up or install a backup, it goes into the trying to mount SD card loops (20s). When I try and backup from recovery mode, it says can't mount sd card. When trying to recover from storage/sd, it starts backing up then at the end it says can't mount.
Help, anyone? Please.

A unique problem

it all started when i installed a faulty launcher
my phone's in a boot loop
when i try to slide the key into the lock on the lockscreen, it reboots.
otherwise touch is working fine (emergency call, status bar etc)
but since i can't open the lock, i can't access the home screen and apps and stuff..
obviously i tried recovery, but it doesnt have a factory reset option (strange). the recovery mode only has some phone tests and calibrates
the other hard key combination opens up some black screen with "fastboot mode" written. and that's it.
my phone is gingerbread 2.3.5, unrooted. the company is a less popular and cheap one but it's not china.
long story short, i cant get outta boot loop coz recovery doesnt have factory reset option
plz help!
thanks
i did as you said. but when i erased everything and booted the phone. it's stuck on the manufacturer's logo. it doesnt even reach lock screen now.
fastboot commands are working. i flashed a new recovery, but its not accessing. what should i do?

In recovery, try to wipe cache and dalvik cache. If still, then you need to flash stock ROM

That is because when you ran those commands you wiped the rom on your phone completely so now when it tries to boot it has nothing to boot into. Please give the name of the phone so we can help you more.

**Press the thanks button if I have helped you.
Erasing the user data and cache was good, but erasing boot erases your kernel, just find the one that came with your ROM and as long as its in .img format use fastboot to flash it and all should work great

yo, the prob is, it's a recent phone, but from qmobile
it's qmobile bolt a2 lite. i cant find the stock rom (it was released in 3 july 2013, i believe)
so, can't i install some other ROM that all gingerbread phones support? it has 1 ghz processor, 256 mb ram, and 200 mb internal storage
thanks
i have a 2gb micro sd card as well
Then you have an issue, right now it sounds as you have no kernel maybe if your lucky the manufacture will respond to a request to release the kernel source or have a copy of factory firmware you can download.
Otherwise try to find someone with the same phone and see if they can get you a copy of the kernel
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
since i can't find the exact stock ROM for this lesser known brand, isn't there some universal gingerbread 2.3.5 stock rom? the manufactureres obviously use a modified version of google's stock gingerbread 2.3.5
It won't work, you can't just flash some generic aosp ROM to your phone, if it were that easy every phone would have tons of ROMs
You need a device tree that contains all the proprietary drivers etc to build from source and just flashing a random kernel or ROM won't do you any good (possibly make things worse)
You need to contact the maker of your phone and request this or find someone who can get you a ROM dump

No ROM, No Backup, S-On

I just picked up this phone today, since my GS3 got smashed and coming from samsung, this is all greek to me.
For long winded reasons, I do not have a ROM installed and whenever I try to install one I keep getting boot loops. At this point I'm trying to go back to stock, but that isn't even working. I have tried flashing ROMS, firmwares, but everything keeps getting me bootloops.
I think this all started beacuse when i was going to flash a new ROM, i hit "wipe internal storage" which wiped everything, including my Nandroid :crying:
I am on bootloader 2.09 and obviously have no ROM so there is nothing I can do past the recovery... Is there anything i can do, or did i just brick a phone in 2 hours?
Easy fix. Download MeanBean ROM (ROM can be found in the Development thread) to your computer. Boot into recovery and mount your internal storage to your computer and transfer the ROM to your phone. Flash the ROM zip once and reboot to system. The phone should boot to the HTC splash screen and then reboot to recovery on it's on. Flash the ROM zip again, and reboot once more. Give it a few minutes and it should boot into the ROM. Make sure you make a backup at some point. I also recommend keeping a backup on your PC.
