So this is probably a noob question, Im new to this kind of stuff. What suitable kernel(s) that support overclocking on my cyanogenmod 11 on galaxy s3 i9300 ? I would be grateful if someone gave me suggestions
You can OC using Googy-max2 or Devil Kernel, they are fully compatible with CM 11.:good:
Boeffela kernel works for CM11. Loads do.
Find one that suits your needs the best. Be carefull of the 200MHz since that may freeze your phone in idle and force you to take out the battery.
I just recently flashed it, I only can get overclock it to 1.6 gigahertz , is there a kernel that can let go a bit further beyond?

Devil Kernel let you OC up to 1.8 GHz, but it is not recommended.
Why? Does it overheat my phone?

Uhmm, it does not overheat your phone, but you'll have low battery life and probably will make your phone a lil bit unstable, I tried it. In my opinion, 1.6 GHz is the best :good:
Hard overclocking is the perfect way to fry CPU. That's why it's not recommended.. Imagine it like a human heart who beats faster than normal. Its life time is certainly decreased ..

What /???? does it mean i cannot oc my phone ?
You can o/c it to 1400 rather than 1600.
Mine runs at 800Mhz constantly since there aren't any app that needs more thanks to the nice Exynos architecture.

You might be able to oc, but you may also need to tweak the voltages.
Every phone responds differently.
Try different max frequencys and voltages.

I use this kernel: [email protected] AOA110#1
Do i have to change something or are there any other OC kernels?

Uhh. Okay.
Is there a question in there somwhere.
If you were asking for advice, I'd offer 2 points:
1. Don't overclock.
2. Buy a better phone.
so? its normal for overclock, make phone unstable.
hell it can even damage your phone.
u should read about overclock more.
Your ace made in china...hahaha mine can up to 883mhz without prob...blazing fastor....thnks ketut...im using same kernel blackhawk...
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda premium
It doesn't mean that just because we share the same type of device, the result will also be the same...some ace users can oc that far and become stable(i think) but some cannot..there are many factors for it.. so just find the right tweaks for your phone and enjoy
Good evening guys. I started this thread because I'm a bit confused on what is the best OC for our SGA. Can someone help on this?
I´m using No-frills CPU Control. If it is the best, don´t know but it works and it is free

How high can you go? with respect to the stability.
The overclock capabilities depend on the kernel the app will just help you access the them

I don´t use OC Kernel atm and i never tried out how high my Ace can go.
There are differents in how high u can go, try out at your own Risk
My phone gets into a boot loop if I overclock it to 883MHz, so be careful while overclocking. You might kill your ace

Samsung tests their processors to work stable at 800Mhz only.
Stable OC is a kind of lucky draw.... My Ace is stable max at 921-940Mhz......

I feel lucky because i can get 960mhz stable with cm9, almost 1ghz.
But be careful and do it by your own risk as i said i feel "lucky"

you can use setCPU application. You can buy it from market. But I prefer not to OC my phone as its drains battery and harmful too...
I'm using SetCPU (I love it since it allows to create profiles, like charging, screen off, etc...). I'm overclocked to ~860Mhz without any problems.

overclocking is too much desired.... but in a hot condition .... keep ur ace cool at normal MHZ of 800 else u can end up of excessive battery heating ,, retarding battery life...and may be a processor burn ....

Hi, I have bought asphalt 7 and for the most part I'm impressed with its graphics and game play, however on certain tracks its kind of laggy.
I know some games aren't optimized for Android half as much as they are for ios Mostly due to the fact that there is so much hardware that Android runs on, but has anyone seriously got this game running well on their sgs3?
I'm running fox hound 1.43 using siyah kernel @1.4ghz. Governor is on demand. I'll try some others and update this post but at the moment it's laggy on London and another level where you drive through a building (not sure on its name)
If anyone has any tweaks and or tips on getting the most notable difference of performance out of this game then let men know please.
Cheers.

Hi,
Humm... Just use the defaut governor optimized for a quad core: pegasusq...
Edit: and maybe check your GPU settings.

Why are you using ondemand when it is NOT optimised for a quad core phone, pegasusq is the best governor available to us, its one thing that Samsung have done really well!

Omega is a great rom but towards the end of 9 i was getting lag's so i switched to foxhound and it's been very good indeed, it's only since i've noticed this lag on one game that i've debated changing rom's, personally i think that the developers of android games should work bloody harder, it's just like the pc / console war all over again, and i'm on the PC side of that too.

Great to know this, I overclocked my xperia mini pro to 1.2ghz and I was wondering if its still safe to overclock to 1.4ghz.
thx for information!
I clocked my phone to 1.5 and it's perfect for everyday use.Now that the cold months come it would be even better, not that I felt more heating though.. I still get a 2-day battery time thanks to the power saving options of the kernel and the rom.
