XDA/Google search 'I9100G root', this has been covered here 1000's of times before.

You can do a search & read the instructions carefully. Follow to the dot & nothing will explode. Please take note, yours is i9100G model, totally different with i9100 model.

Not a realy noob for android, but for a first time, I own S II I9100 and need it to root.
Spent reading forum 2 days about how to root device and even everything is perfectly explained, I'm still having issue.
Ok, to root, I need insecure kernel, right?
Tried to find my.............and nothing.
Phone is updated to 4.0.4, when I go to about phone tab, this is what I get from :
Model number: GT-I9100
Android version: 4.0.4
Baseband version: I9100XXLQ6
Kernel version: [email protected]#3

When I do *#1234#, this is what I get
PDA: I9100XWLPW

Would someone be, please, so kind and help me find out which kernel I need to find in order to root my phone !!!

Hi,
Flash PhilZ-CWM6 kernel from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?k9j877v7k3z7sr8. Go to stock recovery (turn off the phone and press at the same time volume up + home + power) and use flash update zip option. Regards

I've been reading for the past hours, seen dozens of threads but bit confused on how to root my phone. Or actually, what method to follow to root my phone. Could someone point me to the correct thread? I've rooted a phone before but that was my G1, got no experience with Odin.

Get a kernel (siyah or cf-root) that works with your rom. Put the tar file in the PDA section in odin and flash.

As you are on 4.0.4 so dont do any kind of wipe in stock kernel. it might have brickbug.... after installing custom kernel you can do wipe if you want...

I used http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28178105 method 1 with - Root_SuperSU.0.96-Busybox.1.20.2-S2-signed.zip to install superSU + busybox v1.20.2 from Linus Yang. Phone is working so I guess it worked .

Hi, i just recently upgraded my S2's firmware to Jellybean that i have download from Sammobile, i would like to ask, now that i have upgraded my firmware via Odin, do i still have to flash it? That's the one-stop thread for your device. Though if you're having this much trouble searching through a forum, finding your device's section, and think that a general development section is where to post these types of questions, then perhaps you shouldn't be performing such delicate procedures on an expensive device.
