international HOX+ and U.S. HOX+ are two distinctly different beasts, different hardware/hboot etc. nothing you can do is going to make your U.S. Model into an international model.
or as previously posted

Having S-OFF does not imply that we can convert a HOX+ At&t to Int version , since they are two completely different internally. More over the ROMS are hardware specific hence you just cant force it to on any device.
And sicnce you have S-OFF you should be careful in trying out things like, this since it can case you a permanent hard brick .

Just flash 4EXT with help of AIO Toolkit, and remember: no S-OFF - no ICS for you.. (your handheld CID is 44 hence T-Mobile ROM won't install )

Yes you need to be s-off in order to install firmware that does not match your CID or MID.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
You need s-off if you are going to run a different carriers ruu if you want to run a custom rom from the international forum you can be s-on or s-off

I just went through this process and S-OFF is not enough, you also need to change your MID otherwise OTAs will fail. I will write something up soon on what I did to convert my ATT to International ROM.
Just got my One today, coming from an S-Off One X. Is getting S-Off deemed important on the One?
##Update##
Realized how easy it was to obtain S-Off compared to the HTC One X (which admittedly was pretty easy already) and went ahead and did it anyways
Honestly if you need to ask this type of question do not attempt it, just because its on here doesnt mean its a necessity...htc dev unlock the phone and flash a custom rom and be happy with that for now until youve read read and read some more....

[Q] Still confused on a few points

Hi all. I've just ordered a One through ATT, PN07120. I've been reading around this forum for a week or so before deciding on the One and there's still a few things I'm uncertain about.
#1 Is there any difference as to root and s-off methods between the ATT model and the International?
#2 Are the ROMs and firmwares in the HTC One forum compatible with this device?
#3 Which is the currently preferred method of s-off, rumrunner or revone? Or does that all depend on what hboot my phone ships with?
Thanks for any advise.

Well, root and s-off are two complete different things.
If you get s-off you would be able to install most rims if it all .
It really depends on your hboot but preferable rumrunner.
Check this guide... It give all the steps to get it successfully to the s-off point

Thanks for the link TopoX. For my other questions, I understand root and s-off. I guess I should have just asked if, for all intents and purposes, the ATT model and the International model are the same.

yes the steps and software are the same
I have AT&T phone and have flashed many of the international roms without any problems. ViperOne - InsertCoin - ARHD - MaximusHD all work fine.
unlock bootloader @ htcdev.com
flash custom recovery (TWRP)
Flash SuperSU (Root)(this step is actually optional as most roms will include root)
Flash custom rom
Enjoy you new phone !!!

Seems like you are asking 2 different things. Do you want to convert to stock international to receive OTAs for the international version; or just flash Viper custom ROM?
If you want OTAs, you can convert by flashing the desired stock ROM, stock recovery, and corresponding firmware.
If you just want to flash Viper, then update your firmware as described in Post#7 of the Viper thread (in the "international" M8 forum section): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51623014&postcount=7

I am not in US. I live in Turkey.
Is there any difference between us developer edition and euro?
Ok cid/mid is different for euro devices. I was under impression you were in states with an att device. Different regions have different versions,id look for one for your region or do the cid mid change, then follow steps for flashing.
Did you successfully convert it? and how? because i want to convert my m8 to international version to get OTA updates and to be able to turn hotspot ON, but this is my 1st htc and i know nothing, at all.

Can't be certain from your post, but it sounds like you are not on AT&T's network, and possibly not even in the US.
You need to be on AT&T's network to get OTA update for the AT&T M8. This isn't true for most other versions of the M8, AT&T is fairly unique in this regard.
You can download the RUU to a PC, and update with your phone connected: http://dl3.htc.com/application/RUU_M8_[email protected]41216A_40.34.C35006.02_F_release_407726_signed_2.exe
Bear in mind, that updating to Android 4.4.4 will break sunshine s-off. You will not be able to s-off unless sunshine is updated to include a new exploit. So if you want s-off, its highly recommended to use sunshine (the only method at this time) before updating to 4.4.4.

Yes you will. But you need to s-off and change CID/MID in order to do a "full conversion" (stock firmware, stock ROM, stock recovery, etc.).

No, updating firmware, ROM flashing, etc. will not SIM lock the phone. The only way that will happen is if you lock it yourself.

Hold on, I'm just reading that sunshine now supports 4.4.4 and 5.0! This is a very recent change:
http://theroot.ninja/download.html
But if you decide you want s-off, anyway; I'd still recommend you do it while still on a lower hboot number (before updating) just to be safe.
ok tnx again.... i dont risk... and i s_off before update...
last question is... what is the best way to convert to gpe... there is many tutorial in internet... if give me a link... its better
