So I'm on Houstonns 4.4 AOSP rom. I uninstalled busybox from within the app this morning and phone was functioning correctly all day. When connecting phone to computer my computer could see the phone in device manager but not actually do anything with it. I tried reinstalling the driver which did not fix the problem. I decided to reboot my phone. I powered it off, and it will not power back on now.
I've tried holding the power button for a very long time, power + vol+, power + vol-, power+ both vol and nothing seems to work. I've tried these options plugged into a walljack and into the USB port. Did I just officially brick my phone or does anyone know how I can fix this? Thanks in advance.
Too add, I forgot that I uninstalled busybox until after my phone would not power on and I was trying to remember if anything had changed.
/e When phone is plugged into usb on computer and power button is held for about 20secs, the red light around the power button lights up for a moment and computer makes a sound like it's detected a new device being plugged in, then the red light around the button goes off and the computer plays the device disconnected sound.
Sounds like bricked! The boot is messed probably.

Is there something I can buy to fix this, or somewhere I can ship it to or am I stuck with throwing it out and buying a new phone?

Then it is hard bricked and needs to be JTAG repaired. Mobiletechvideos.com is one place to check I think it is about $90.00 depending on shipping options you choose.
Right !! @adfurgerson , I read about a QPST tool somewhere in the forum . Can it be of some use to bring back the phone ? It's the Qualcomm's tool , right ?

I've seen a section on how to use the jig device but I don't think its going to work. Heres the thing, my phone is completely dead, no "Vibrant" screen, no download in anyway possible, no charging screen. Is there hope? Please help me :'(
This happened to me once, I could not get it to respond in anyway what so ever.... after being pissed and leaving it alone for about 20 minutes I came back and tried this...
1. Open your phone and take our your sim card, battery and external sd if you have one
2. Plug in your usb cord
3. Hold volume up and down, DO NOT HOLD POWER only volume buttons
4. Place battery back in phone and watch for the screen to respond
5. Release Volume up and down buttons
This method got me in to download mode even though I tried it like 100 times, it was only until after I let me phone sit for a little bit did it respond. Even if you have already tried this.... try it again. I went thru the same thing.

I've tried that but I'll let the phone rest for awhile. It happened when I was updating to 2.2 from 2.1 using Kies, I wasn't rooted or anything and I had just formatted the phone prior to that.

sadly.. for every 1 post I read about someone bricking a phone while flashing custom ROM, I read 4 or 5 of people bricking w/Kies..
did you ever have any 2.3.x roms on your phone? bootloaders?
"Kies ate my phone" is still an excellent way to get a new phone regardless of the current warranty.

Judging by the thread, I doubt its going to work. It needs to atleast boot, which is what my phone isn't doing. Basically it acts as if there is no battery in, doesnt boot, no download mode, no charging screen. Computer wont pick it up either.
This morning I was transferring a couple files from my computer to my phone sd card via usb, something I've done a million times. All of a sudden I heard that sound the computer makes when you disconnect via usb and my screen went black. So I disconnected the usb cable and pushed the power button to wake it. No dice. So I held the power button in like I was turning it on. No response. I let it sit for a while, still nothing. I can't boot into recovery or anything. It's like the phone has no power what so ever. The phone had a full charge, so the battery is not dead. When I plug the phone into the charger, the indicator does not come on.
Any ideas? Am I bricked just from a transfer????

try PWR + VOL UP for 10 seconds. I once had this happened during a call. Fully charged nothing wrong with it and it just died on me.

An unfortunate problem with the very first batch was an issue where the phone would suddenly go onto a reboot and never come back on, it wasn't very common but enough of a problem for HTC to revise the hardware before selling any more of them. If you had an original it might explain why it suddenly happened, it happened in stock and custom. Nothing you could you could of done if it was an early model

I was @ work when I posted that response. What I wanted to add was the unbricker didn't work for me, mainly because I bricked my device downgrading firmware and the unbricker seems to be for specific brick related to lazypanda. AFAIK the unbricker will work if you bricked using lazypanda , as for phones bricked another way I don't think so.
Also my replacement came with 1.15 hboot . The sprint tech let me power up all the LTE's he had to check the boot loaders. No luck
Remember when we were on preorder someone posted an article about this phone being unbrickable. I haven't a lot of experience with android devices but it seems there are a considerable amount of bricks. Does anybody think this phone is bricking more or less than previous devices.

Where did you get that information? As far as i know all models have been hardware revision hw03.
From what I can tell the hardware id hasn't changed and I got the info from a sprint tech who received over 25 phones in a month with that exact issue and from people who can't figure out their voicemail much less unlock and root
Also plenty of phones with screen discoloration and a few with faulty proximity sensors

No I didn't. I thought the phone had to at least power up to do anything. It won't power on period. The computer doesn't recognize it when it's connected. Sprint couldn't even do anything with it.
Hi,
Noob here, just bought a galaxy tab off of a co-worker.
I wanted to upgrade filmware to gingerbread, when using odin the update failed and the tab has went black.
Tried the power up, Power down, and also power + Hold Screen+ up. Need help! And help would be great.
Have you tried this???
Look Here

Hey swalks.
For us to be able to help you we need more info.
What rom did you try to flash?
Where did it fail?? (What did it say in Odin?)
Does anything happene when you connect it to a charger?
Ive tried all of the options.
*Odin
*Power button+Vol. up
*Power button+Vol. down
*Hold power button more than 10 sec
*Charge it up.
Nothing works, just because of the new firmware to GT-P1010 2.3.6
what can I do?
Oki. I c.
But here are some more questions to see if we can fix this.
When u connect the charger do u see anything on the screen?
Does it look like the backlight comes on?
When u connect it to a pc, does the pc see anything? Does it register anything?
It more appropriate for you to ask in your device thread as this the Galaxy Tab 10.1 (P75xx series), information might not be the same between the two.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=752 is your device section.

Tried to flash filmware: p1000xwjq8_p1000o2uj3_p1000xxjpz_home.tar.md5
But a few seconds in it just stopped & said fail.
Does not sound good.
I do know that someone has left there tab for some days to completely dischard and then conect it to a charger and it did "wake up" enough to get into download mode, but it is a looooooooooooooong shot.
But it sounds like you have bricked it, and if that is the case the only way to "fix" it is to have someone do a JTAG "recovery".
Search the P1000 forum for (link provided by nakedninja42) "JTAG and you will find alot of info.
Hope it helps.
when im holding the power button it shows bit of light from the sides of the screen.
the touch buttons are not turning on in any way.
I can do JTAG recovery by myself?
IF you had done as i told U, you would have got the answer!
but NO YOU CAN NOT jtag yourself!!!
Here is some info about someone that can, and they after what i know have a good reputation here at XDA!
www.mobiletechvideos.com and mobiletechvideos AT gmail.com
Eshop here: http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/
Now go off and help yourself and good luck bringing your tab back to life.
I thought I'd done enough research into all this, but I guess maybe not.
I used Moonshine to s-off my Droid DNA and everything worked as described no problem. I then installed CWM and made a backup. I then went to install Viper on the phone using this guide.
I got to step 2 in this part of the process:
*WARNING* Although you don't have to, but if you do choose to use the recommended Step 3 which is found below, it will wipe all of your games and apps including saved game data and such. Don't worry all of your photos and music will be fine. Make sure to sync your contacts with your Google account**
1. Scroll down to -advanced and hit power, then do as follows
- wipe dalvik cache
-***go back***
2. Scroll down to -mounts and storage and hit power then:
-format system
-press your back key on the phone to go back
3. Scroll down to -wipe data/factory reset and hit the power button
"you can skip this process but it is a highly recommended one if you want less bugs in the ROM" (If you decide to skip make sure you you also -wipe cache partition which is in the same menu)

I was ready to do step 3 when I saw the warning above about syncing my contacts with my Google acount. This is where I did something really stupid. I rebooted the phone so I could sync those contacts. I thought I was alright because I had a backup if something went wrong.
However now my phone is stuck on the white HTC screen. I've tried to get into the bootloader to restore my backup by holding down the vol-down and power buttons, but it just goes back to the same white HTC screen.
Am I totally screwed here?

EDIT: I downloaded the toolkit from the link I posted above, and tried everything in the kit. However they all resulted in a "device not found". Can anyone advise me? Is my phone bricked? If so, is there any recourse other than buying a new phone for $600?
Thanks for any light anyone can shed. It's much appreciated.

Thanks for pointing me to that thread, Ryan. I tried their advised solution, with no luck.
The problem is I can't get into CWM on my phone at all, just the white HTC screen, nothing else. And when I try "adb devices" the device isn't found. When I plug the phone in the computer tries to install a driver (and fails).
I did find this though, so if it's unfixable by me with help from you guys, at least there's hope.

I dont think its bricked. If your computer is seeing it then something is working on the phone its just not showing up. I have had that problem before with cm10 it would stick at the animation screen and then after awhile my computer would see it.
Honestly i think its just a matter of finding the right thing to get it to go. I had to let my phone completely die before it would do anything. So you may try that before spending $60.
Good luck
I dont think your phone is bricked either, if it turns on that usually means there's still hope. However I think zarboz offers a free JTAG for XDA members if worse comes to worse.
I would recommend going on the irc and getting some live help.
Honestly I would turn it off for a while, then just keep trying and keep trying to get into fast boot. Can you still turn the phone off and get it to charge? You can also try plugging it into your charger, turning it on and off, unplugging it, turning it on and off, etc. I know that sounds weird but I've had weird situations like this with a few devices sometimes that type of just screwing around would eventually get it to work.

Thanks for the help guys. I let the phone drain out last night, and I plugged it into the charger this morning. It does still charge, and I got it to start up. However, it goes to the same white HTC screen. As long as the phone has power, I can't even get it to stay off. The only way I can get it to turn off is to push both volume buttons and the power button at the same time and hold them down till the buttons flash. Then it will turn off, but a couple seconds later, it turns back on and goes to the white HTC screen. If I try to power off any other way--with just the power button or power button + vol-down button, the buttons will flash but it won't power off.
I even tried plugging the phone into every different USB port on my printer and executing "adb devices" and the phone never came up as a device. But my computer still tries (and fails) to install drivers when I plug the phone in, and HTC Sync loads and gives me the same error message.
I just had some limited success! I plugged the phone into my computer, and tried powering on again with power+vol-down, and the phone went into Fastboot. However, it's still not detected by "adb devices". What should I do?
Thanks for the help guys!
I guess you can't get to recovery in fastboot

If you got it into hboot(screen shows fastboot etc)then u r good. Fastboot uses fastboot not adb to flash things. First try going into fastboot at the hboot screen and hit power button on fastboot and recovery should.be there. Ifthat doesnt work then flash a new recovery. Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img. then use fastboot menu as above to enter recovery. Fastboot devices to verify connection.
Thanks so much for all the help guys! I was able to get into Fastboot and restore my backup I'd made, so I'm back up and running. I'm really glad I didn't brick my phone! I was really worried there for a while!
Hello everyone and all.
So I wanted turned on my evo 3D {out of warranty of 2 years +}.
It is root , s-off, rom cuistom and cuistom recovery.
*It is not starting , blinking. (no LED is lit (no red lighting))
I tried to load it. (It is not loaded).
I exchange the batteries (it was not turned on and loaded.)
I connected to Windows PC with and without battery, it is recognized as qhsdload usb.
I connect Ubuntu to attempt to débrick , it is not recognized. and the two xda softwares (unbriking project and universal) showed (waiting for devices, and no device found).
*
*
(It is not recognized in adb in windows)
What is the solution to make it started?

I have all the symptons but i DO NOT get the "qhsdload usb".. weird how it happened installed CM10.1 with latest firmware everything was fine for an hour till i was listening to music on my way home from jogging it just "DIES" on me battery was still 98% and it would not turn on after that... No LED, recovery , bootloader, wont charge , wont turn on, and especially no "qhsdload usb" issue.
makes me wonder what happened...
