Well I couldn't wait for AT&T to get the HTC One Max any longer. Especially after Christmas bonuses and such, I had a little extra money, and it was burning a hole in my pocket.
Since one of my Verizon devices was stolen, I've had that account suspended. This was an opportunity to get a new phone and see if Verizon's network is better than AT&T. They seem to go back and forth from time to time in my area of Houston.
Anyways, I popped in my AT&T SIM when the device was starting up for the first time. Had to visit in the in-laws in Louisiana and there was no Verizon service there. It did give me a notice that I was using a foreign SIM card, but it allowed me to proceed. I configured the APN and was on my way with talk, text, and data (HSPA+ up to 14.4Mbps by spec).
As for Cricket, they had a deal on a phone which I could do an unboxing on so I snatched that up. It's an LTE phone and came with a SIM card. In the past I had issues with an "ME rejected" error when trying to put the SIM in a non Cricket phone. Actually with trying to put it on any phone that wasn't on my Cricket account. I still get that error every few minutes with this device BUT talk, text, and data (3G) works. I will contact a dealer and see if I can get the IMEI on the account AND keep the SIM card in the system as well. This might stop the ME rejected issue.
For the time being, Go SMS will have to be used for MMS. I actually don't have the time to do too much more experimentation unless people want me to try out their solution.

Hey, could I get a source for that information? The specs list on HTC site is quite unclear.
Also, is boot loader unlocking possible via HTCDev? Is rooting possible using the international variants method?
Thanks

Source was HTC for the hardware specs.
The listing of AT&T LTE networks is from Wiki.
I'll edit the post because I now see that I was clear as muddy water. Sorry.
IIRC there is a one step root solution if your hboot is a certain version (Verizon). Sprint requires a little more work. It's kind of unrelated to this post. If I get more time, I'll do a video on the root process as well.
EDIT: Jiggity Janx has it in their signature. Rumrunner..

So, any idea if bootloader unlock is possible, via HTCDev site or otherwise to unlock custom kernels and ROMs?
Thanks for the video.
hello
one sprint htc max can be used with at & t or in my case I live in Honduras can use it with another operator as tigo having the 850 MHz band?
I don't know whether Sprint version is locked or not.
The FCC requires that Verizon leaves their LTE devices unlocked so I'm told in return for being awarded spectrum.

Does anyone know anything about this? I understand what the categories mean, but do these values control data speeds in any way?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5123531&postcount=46
I'm in Dallas, TX. After some experimentation, I have my 4G data speeds up to 8-11 Mbps down and 1 - 1.5 up. Here is what I have done:
Added a good old Linux sysctl.conf file to system/etc containing:
net.core.rmem_default = 524288
net.core.rmem_max = 524288
net.core.wmem_default = 524288
net.core.wmem_max = 524288
net.ipv4.tcp_wmem = 4096 87380 524288
net.ipv4.tcp_rmem = 4096 87380 524288
net.ipv4.tcp_mem = 524288 524288 524288
net.ipv4.tcp_rfc1337 = 1
net.ipv4.ip_no_pmtu_disc = 0
net.ipv4.tcp_sack = 1
net.ipv4.tcp_fack = 1
net.ipv4.tcp_window_scaling = 1
net.ipv4.tcp_timestamps = 1
net.ipv4.tcp_ecn = 0
net.ipv4.route.flush = 1
Obtained my MSL from Sprint and edited the ##3282# menu as follows:
Data Profile menu: deactivated Reverse Tunneling, pinged all the Home Agent IP's I could get my hands on and settled on 68.28.81.77 as primary and 68.28.89.77 as secondary.
Multimedia menu: Changed RTSP proxy address to 0.0.0.0 and port to 0, did the same with HTTP-PD address and port. Changed Buffer length to 20.
EVDO: Make sure DDTM is set to Off.
Went from struggling to hit 4 Mbps to constant 8 - 11Mbps. I hope this works for the other Photon users here, let me know how it goes!

All I did was remove the proxy. Regardless, I still get up to 9-10Mbps on 4G in Wichita Falls, TX. Oh, and my phone is stock, but rooted.
15 in ft worth but not constant usually tops at 9

I don't know why mine were so slow here in Richardson, you gents are both getting amazing speeds. I pared down the Sprint fluff as much as I could but still couldn't break 5 until performing the tweaks. I wonder if that sysctl.conf file would give you guys any increase?
Mine is stock and rooted too. I was thinking about unlocking the bootloader to see of I could get 3G to an acceptable level after the tweaks....

3G is a lost cause until Sprint finishes upgrading the backhaul network and adding more channels to the towers. I rarely get over 1Mbps on 3G, usually under 256Kbps.
Ive been getting 1 - 1.6 at night and 400 - 900 during day....but yeah till the upgrades done its gonna stay sucking.

I can get 1-1.3Mbps outside, but in my house, its a range of around 20-128Kbps (I have metal siding on the house, and the house was built in 1940)
Its ok not great but yeah that metal is probably your speed killer

Kind of neat digging a little more into your post I determined I am using a New Jersey based IP even though I am located in Boston. I found that out from the list posted on the evdo forums..
http://www.evdoforums.com/thread2001.html
I changed my Data and Multimedia settings, but I cannot test this out until I go into town. Does this affect the battery life in anyway? And is this only for 4G?

I'm in Dallas, TX. After some experimentation, I have my 4G data speeds up to 8-11 Mbps down and 1 - 1.5 up. Here is what I have done:
Added a good old Linux sysctl.conf file to system/etc containing:
net.core.rmem_default = 524288
net.core.rmem_max = 524288
net.core.wmem_default = 524288
net.core.wmem_max = 524288
net.ipv4.tcp_wmem = 4096 87380 524288
net.ipv4.tcp_rmem = 4096 87380 524288
net.ipv4.tcp_mem = 524288 524288 524288
net.ipv4.tcp_rfc1337 = 1
net.ipv4.ip_no_pmtu_disc = 0
net.ipv4.tcp_sack = 1
net.ipv4.tcp_fack = 1
net.ipv4.tcp_window_scaling = 1
net.ipv4.tcp_timestamps = 1
net.ipv4.tcp_ecn = 0

I couldn't get the ##3282# menu to work because everytime i ckicked to edit something it asked for a password.. any ideas? Would love. To do this

That password is your MSL. Talk (or chat online) with sprint and get the MSL.
I am not sure if it was an auto push or a reboot reset the changes I made to the data profile section..?
Both the primary ha IP and secondary IP were reset to previous settings..
to bad i already unlocked ... this tweak might have made 4g surpass 3g in my area ( way to much wimax equipment out here to get any decent speeds )
Just ran the v6 supercharger script now getting 13mbps on 4g with a 85 ping used to get 8-9mbps with 100-110 ping.

Wish I had 4g where I live. It's only in our downtown area. I picked it up once but never got beyond 3 mbs.

Anyone familiar with this string in the build.prop file?
#device supports LTE
ro.config.lte=true
#device supports EHRPD
#ro.config.ehrpd=true
#device supports simultaneous 1x voice + LTE
#ro.config.svlte1x=true

i saw that too. i think they are generic settings for HTC devices which got inherited to HTC Amaze.
Hey,

My question is:
Does this also work for the HTC Droid DNA Verizon verion on other carriers?
Thank you!
Hi.
As far as I know from digging in the specs from different sources - one max from Verizon is capable of AWS LTE band 4.
The problem is that it never gets connected to LTE on T-Mo.
I have forced it from info menu to LTE only, but it stays disconnected.
Can anybody shed light on what may be preventing the Tmo AWS LTE to work on a AWS compatible one max.
May it be in need of software update?
Need to put in TMo APN info maybe...

Tried
*I believe* the aws has to be enabled through a software update like the gs4 was when aws was enabled for verizon. Otherwise I would be getting verizon aws speeds in my area with my verizon one max right now.

I'm currently using a note 3 Verizon on tmo lte. And band 4 had to be enabled in a hidden menu. If someone had the dial codes to the band selection on the HTC one max that would fix it.
saw the note 3 how to on tk tech news on youtube.

When I looked into this because I am in a verizon aws area it was not possible because we have the same setup as the verizon one (not the verizon s4 which I also have or n3). The One does not have the software part required for aws to work and neither would we.
note 3, blackberry z30, lg g2, htc one max all on TMOBILE LTE!

I just followed the procedure on a video at TK Tech News on YouTube. it shows the LG G2 working on TMOBILE LTE and they also stated putting a aosp rom on the HTC one max enables TMOBILE LTE or allows you to force cat 4 lte.
I'm in the process of rooting and s off this one to see if it works. it has and I've confirmed it working on the g2 and the note 3 as well as the blackberry z30.
thanks

There is no aosp rom for the Max with working radio. No kernel source. So they can say putting a aosp rom on there does it all they want but no one can do it currently.
Working!!!
That guy is full of it. But after some trial and error I got it working and have full 4G speed.
In build.prop change or add these if they dont exist
ro.ril.gprsclass=14
ro.ril.hsdpa.category=14
ro.ril.hsupa.category=7
ro.ril.hsxpa=2
ro.telephony.lteOnGSMDevice=1
ro.telephony.default_network=9
Also open the /system/customize/ACC/default.xml file, is a boolean variable “sku_id”. Change the value of “sku_id” to the t-mobile one. Then save the file, and reboot your device.
<item type="integer" name="sku_id">11</item>
Then go into the *#*#4636#*#* menu with the phone dialer (it will be enabled now) and change the network type to "GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto"

Can anyone please tell me what I need to do to get to build.prop to change or add this information. I am currently rooted with s off and supercid, using NuSenseSIX Rom.
**Edit**
Nervermind I figured it out. There's a app called "buildprop editor" that takes you where to go and let's you add or change what you need to. Also you definetly need to change the sku id to 11 or it will not work. If you have problems saving the change to the sku id, install fx file explorer and fx file explorer (root ad-on) from the google play store. The apps were created by NextApp Inc. The FX file explorer has a lock icon that you click on in the upper right corner that will give r/w capabilities necessary to save any changes.
This may help further.....

I found out something tricky with this phone, "ro.ril.gprsclass=14" was causing my phone to hang on boot so I kept resetting it with the hardware keys so after I got it booted up, I proceeded to delete the ro.ril.gprsclass=14 in buildprop or sometimes the phone would delete it first and second I spotted a key that looked similar to "ro.telephony.lteOnGSMDevice=1" in buildprop which was "telephony.lteOnCdmaDevice=1". Noticed the CDMA wasn't all Caps????. So I modified the Key in buildprop to look like this "ro.telephony.lteOnGsmDevice=1", only the "G" is capped in GSM......And After I did that I restarted the phone and after it booted, I proceeded to phone test menu and changed it to "GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto" and boom I've noticed the "4GLTE" showed up in my status bar so I did a speed test and surely I was getting 30 Mbps Down and 10 Mbps Up. One other good thing is my MMS IS WORKING!!!!!!! just ass fast as an SMS!!!!!
The Rom I'm Using Is: NuSenseSIX-LP_t6_RC5.0.4.2_11132015
UPDATE: Everytime you restart your device, the test menu reverts back to "GSM prl" so just put it back on "GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto" and your LTE will return.
Will this work with sprint variant
