I was wondering a few things if anyone could help. I have the metro version
of the mega. Id like to know if it is possible to get back to complete stock. I flashed
twrp, which is awesome. Also I bought a sd card reader from Walmart so
I can add and remove files to the sd if I ever brick the phone. I have
tried cm11 wasn't for me. I have rooted the phone etc. I'm trying
to get back to the state of when I first got the phone. Currently I flashed
bnb's clean twrp files and am back to stock. I want to get rid
of twrp and go back to thr original bootloader if theres
a way. From what I know the bootlaoder is locked up.
Im thinking about taking the phone back to the store as the
owner knows exactly what I'm talking about when I start grilling
him with questions about different roms and such. Do you
think at the store they may be able to reflash it? I've
tried via odin, but can only flash the twrp and then from there
I am able to flash the clean backup. I totally want to go back
to original. If you guys have any tips, questions or comments
please and thank you.

Good evening folks. WOuld anyone mind sharing any success or failure returning a gtab to tiger direct? I just ordered it on 4-6. The other question is that I put the new kernel etc and new image on it. Is that something that is a no no?
I would like to consider getting something else but im hoping it can be returned. any advice?
I don't know about their return policy, but if US Merchants keeps their word the OTA Updater will be fixed by tomorrow - you should update the firmware right away, imo. I heard that the TD models are very old firmware.
ive already updated it to TNT etc. it works fine. I am just not using it at all, so id like to send it back. my main question is about the fact that its not the stock rom. will tiger take it back even though i modified it? or will they only accept a stock rom back
thanks
I would run with the assumption that you will have to get your unit back to a stock ROM before you send it back. Do you really want to risk them denying your return because you didn't take the time to flash it back to stock?
yeah, good point.
i havent seen many threads on getting it back to stock. if anyone has a link id love one. ill try to search as well.
so i would need to get the stock rom on, as well as the stock kernel etc too right?
There are a few ways to get it back to stock. You can just flash a stock ROM -- for example, one of these:

hey roebeet. i want to thank you for all your contributions. very much appreciated.
so if i use nvflash, will it get rid of CWM, the kernel i installed , etc?
i want to get it back to Out of box mode.
thanks
nvflash (the 1105 one) one will make it completely 2967 stock, even recovery. The only other things you'd want to do is 1) a factory reset (to wipe data) and 2) remove anything you left on /sdcard.
Hi all. i'm having trouble finding a specific thread to help me solve my problem. (I'm not too good with rooting, and should have not messed with it in the first place!)
Anyways let's get to my problems:
So I needed to take my phone to the Verizon Store, and without thinking went straight to the Factory Reset thing. Now everytime I try booting up my phone it gets stuck on the custom bootup screen and freezes during part of the animation and just stays there.
I have read things that say try going into hboot and doing recovery, but all's it asks me to do is update, then has me reboot. It doesn't update anything as it still does the same exact thing.
My question is, can someone please help guide me through the process of returning my Thunderbolt back to STOCK. I really am unsure of what I need to download, and where I need to put things, and what I need to name them etc: Clearly I need to think twice before rooting my phone again.
Also when I go to plug my Thunderbolt into my computer via USB my computer cannot recognize the device, any suggestions why?
Thanks so much! Really really need help!
First off all it sounds like you have a pg05img.zip file on the root of the sdcard. Only way to remove it now is pulling the sdcard out and putting it in a conputer and deleting that file. Then you should be able to boot and/or get into recovery.
If that's not the case then i don't know what's preventing you from getting into recovery. Although, just a factory reset should not have caused this anyway.

How did you initially Root your device? I assume revo since so many have now. Like mentioned above make sure you check your sdcard and ensure there is no PG05IMG.zip on it. After you have checked your sdcard for that file and deleted it, or maybe it is not there try to get into recovery.
Pull your battery out and then hold Volume down + power. Where does that get you? Hopefully you made a nandroid of your device after you rooted. If you followed a guide that was most definitely recommended. If this takes you to recovery just do a restore.
If you get restored there are some very good guides that Google will lead you to on how to unroot and return to stock.
1Sorry for the super late response, I'm going to try everyone's advice now, thanks so much for the help!
a factory reset will not unroot the phone. If your going back to stock, you have to unroot it. If you bring it to verizon rooted, they may deny you service...
as stated above, just search google or here for instructions how to return to full stock
ok so i wouldnt say im a noob but im not as advanced as some of yous. last night i flashed a leaked ics onto my phone and loved it with one exception. i couldnt figure out how to root it. all my apps are backed up on titanium backup and i didnt want to have to get all of them manually. so i flashed back to stock using odin with a file i used back when that crappy update came out. i rooted it with super one click and and then went to put on a prerooted ics... when in recovery mode now i get this message
cant access to '/system/csc/att/system/'
i try putting on cwm and siyah and i keep getting authentication errors and the installation aborts. also recovery mode wont read my external sd card now. when the phone is booted up it works fine except i tried to do the factory ota update and it keeps failing. i tried reflashing back to stock again and did the update unrooted and it still failed.
i know you guys hate hate when people ask without researching so i did SOME forum browsing and found nothing. sorry i dont really have time to look too extensively. i just want to know how to fix it. i appreciate any help i can get

Start with getting back to stock using this guide. Check for ICS bootloaders too, you probably flashed them and you have to get stock ones back (careful, flashing bootloaders can cause hardbricking). Once you're back to stock and rooted, you shouldn't need to ever use PC Odin again.
Then use this guide for rooting/flashing.
One other note: when you tried to install CWM, it sounds like you loaded an update.zip onto your phone then tried to install it using stock recovery. Stock recovery won't let you install unsigned update.zips, which is why that method for getting CWM on your phone will never work (hence the authentication error and installation abort). For our phone, CWM is only included in custom kernels, that's the only way to get it on there, and don't even think about updating or changing it via other means. Just flash a custom kernel, it'll include CWM, use it until you want to switch kernels.
Hit my thanks button, I was really nice this time. And post in Q/A next time as well.
EDIT: Skip the second guide if all you want is stock. You should be able to update OTA after following the first guide. Though even if stock is what you want, I highly recommend flashing a custom GB kernel because a) they're more stable and faster and b) you'll have CWM in case you need it.
You started off mentioning about "leak ics" which I have absolutely zero experience.
My suggestion:
1. Try to get it back to stock. Make sure it works correctly.
2. If hasn't rooted yet, do so.
3. Getting CMW into the device by flashing custom kernel.
4. From there, install any ICS ROM you want.
First off, I apologize in advance because, there are so many posts like this.
have a SM-G870A. Up until last week i was running roots 4.4.2. Well in looking for custom roms I ran across Alliance. I have done a lot of reading in general about gettting all settings and so forth correct for best performance and battery save. I actually ordered a 5880mah battery (which i love and highly recommend) but onward. I thought i read you had to have lollipop 5.0 for Alliance so I flashed that. But as soon as I did i went back in and read and said it was for kitkat. Today I tried to flash, using odin due to locked bootloader. So I flashed the NE4 tar file, but in haste I put the file in the "BL" slot and hit start with my phone in download mode.................{LEFT}
Now here is what im left with....if I left it try to boot it opens the At&t Galaxy S5 Active Custom page, next the Safe Strap choice Page, and finally blank. So hit me with the worst news first. Then Please ill do whatever it takes I love this phone now that I have root. I havent tried anything yet. Ive read but no similiar situations.. So, I throw to you all. If you know an admin thats a problem solver send him my way. My email address is [email protected] i do have an external sd card but no waay to put any files on it plus its small like 5.gb(old). I was planning on getting a new one so if theres something to go along with an sd card so one could write to it, I know you can access it through safestrap. and you can also wipe everything with it but im afraid that would erase a backup i just made Titanium. If you need info ill check in often. AGAIN SORRY AND EXCUSE SPELLING ETC. DESPERATION.(TIA...Kyle Rogers #GoVols
Please help im stuck without a phone
I rooted my sprint Note 3 when I first got it three years ago and flashed it with a custom ROM. I used it for a year and then got a cell phone from work, so I basically stopped using the Note 3 except occasionally. I decided the other day that I wanted to try updating to a newer version of android on the Note 3. It's been a long time since I messed around with rooting, ROMs, and such, and I did not pay close attention to what I was doing and flashed a ROM that was incompatible. When I restarted, I got a Set Warranty Bit Kernel error. I can get the phone into download mode, but I'm unsure of what to do next to get it back to a usable state.
Is there a guide somewhere to walk me through this process?
Thanks!
Solved
Well, I got the phone working again. I basically followed this guide I found. I tried to paste in the link but I'm still too much of a noob. Anyway, it was on android central, and part of the url was how-flash-stock-rom-via-odin-new-interface. Hope that helps someone.
There was one step not covered in that guide - odin kept saying that the md5 value was invalid. I found a youtube video that said to change the extension of the firmware (it was .tar.md5, changed to .tar). After that, it worked and my phone is back.
Is there a guide somewhere to walk me through this process?

There's guides everywhere on this site! Just gotta find the right ones lol. Makes it that much better when you finally find em. Next time make a complete backup of your phone first. I like to use TWRP, you can download it directly from the Play Store. I got my Stock Firmware from this archive:
http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-N900P
Make a backup of that then flash away! It'll be a lot easier/faster to recover with TWRP. What ROM did you flash to yours? Just curious cause every one I've tried had multiple issues to where I wasn't even able to use half my phone smh. Then I root it with CF-Auto:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2466423
Through Odin:
http://odindownload.com/download/#.WYX1A4jyuyJ
Then I make a another separate TWRP backup of my Rooted Stock Phone just in case lol. Lemme know if you run into problems again I'll try to help find it and/or fix it. The more problems I deal with the more I learn! :fingers-crossed:
Might wanna get a USB storage or something too cause ALL these backups take up time and space. (My external SD Card slot hasn't worked for awhile!)... does yours?
