Hi all,
Have a really bad problem, just rooted a galaxy s 3 for a friend, i've rooted many, he was on 4.1.1 i used the toolkit as i've used it before.
The root process worked well and now the phone boots up, makes a sound and then doesn't show anything on the screen.
Now nothing comes on the screen at all although it does make a boot sound (the samsung logo noise) the only thing i get on the screen is the galaxy s III logo and a small red exclamation mark up the top left.
Really would like to get this back on.
My friend bought it from singapore, although it is a i9300.
I can get to recovery and i can also get to download mode.
Any ideas?
If it is a I9300 then factory reset from recovery or flash a stock rom .

Actually sorted this now, I used the older toolkit and it caused this issue. Wiping it wouldn't have helped.
Used the new toolkit and all is well again.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
I'm suffering the exact same problem (likely for the same reason - used older version, although possibly just because I messed up on my own).
@dladz, or anyone else who might be able to help, could you please give me a pointer on where to go after downloading the newer toolkit. I have a vague idea but I imagine it would be better to ask at this stage before I really mess it up myself.
If anyone could help you'd be a life saver
---------------------
Edit: After prodding around and "fixing" it I thought I'd leave this information for other noobs so they don't ask the same question/harass dladz like myself.
Simply boot up holding the vol down and home button, connect via USB and open Odin.
From there make sure that only Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time are checked.
Click PDA and select C:\Samsung Galaxy S3 ToolKit\root\GT-I9300\boot-stock-ella-GTI9300.tar (From the toolkit - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703488)
Hit start and wait for the square on the top left to turn green and say pass. The device should reboot and be work again. As I'm a retard you may decide not to follow these instructions for your own safety and the safety of your device, however it worked for me.
Apologies for being a pain in the arse, I'll go back to lurking quietly and I'll try not to break anything else.
Hi,
I have the exact same problem as some of the other bootlooped/bricked Galaxy S3's, i was on a custom samsung 4.1.2 rom for about a month and while browsing the net today it crashed went in bootloop now i cant get out, went into cwm recovery mode and factory reseted but didnt do anything.
The problem now is i cant go back into clockwork mod at all, so i went into download mode by pressing power + voloume down and menu button and went into download mode and opened odin flashed a stock rom, however it just keeps saying fail after nand write.
I now tried a custom rom and the same issue occurs and it fails, now when i pull the battery out and turn it back on all i get is a error message saying 'firmware upgrade encountered an issue please select recovery mode in kies and try again' can somebody please helppppp me i literally have no phone at use at the moment!
Thanksssss :highfive:

If you have a jig you might be able to bring it back to life and get in downloadmode and retry flashing a stock rom again. Pull the battery for a minute, reinsert it and use a jig. If you don`t have one try to buy one. Good luck
factory reset is your only way
yes a reply!

Yea, I'm in the states. I have the International version. I'm having th eexact same issue as you my man, even with the CWM not doing a Wipe. There has got to be a fix. I Know if I can get ODIN to stop failing then we can flash, but it's not working. I'm about to give up. Been calling everyone with Google voice on my computer.

It's only 2pm here in Cali, I'll be trying all night. Plan b is to send it into Mobiletechvideos, they do international shipping too, 5 star rating. But in the mean time, I'm going to do some ODIN trouble shooting, maybe try the Mac OSX alternative, Heimdall, and see if I can get it to connect.

I relate to you guys for that's exactly the same problem I'm going through. After successfully updated to the Jelly Bean 4.1.2 UK BTU international version and beautifully restored all my apps via Titanium backup I then proceeded to restore as well my EFS folder through a program named kTool, ignoring its warning message cuz I was just following a tutorial put out on a S3 Brazilian forum believing there was no danger at all.
Well, to my sadness and despair it returned on a bootlooping mode, if you will, and I did everything firstly tried to recover then wiped cache, dalvik, data, formatted the whole stuff and finally installed again via odin in download mode the same jelly bean 4.1.2 all to no avail
Now I got the bootlooping and when I press volume up + power + home I get a screen with a seemingly dead robot with a exclamation sign in its chest. Please what do I do in order to fully recover my S3?? this situation is killing me.
check the youtube link

Dude, I've watched that vid but haven't tried that procedure so far, matter of fact I will do that however flashing an earlier version of the ROM, perhaps JB 4.1.1 or 4.0.4 or yet the current one from another country since the UK BTU version I downloaded was somehow corrupted. Anyhow thanks for the heads up to avoid factory reset and reboot it instead, hopefully I'm going to manage to get the CWM recovery screen cuz now I get only this:
Android system recovey <S3>
Volume up/down to move to highlight:
power button to select.
Reboot system now
apply update from ADB
Apply update fom external storage
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
apply update from cache
Right below it appears, along with the fallen/dead robot, the folowing message:
# MANUAL MODE #
Applying Multi-CSC....
Applied the CSC-code: ZTO
Succesfully applied multi-CSC.
Solved
Here is the solution:

Hi All,
Australin Optus GT-I9305 (4G/LTE Ver).
Android 4.1.2
Download mode: Binary dowload 3 - Current binary Official - System status Official
I tried to root my SGS3 today with Odin however I used the wrong root from my old Note 2 which caused the screen to do weird things and then the screen would not boot up or respond. I have reinstalled the stock software on it with Odin and now the phone starts up but still does not respond to my touch's.
I can boot into recovery and download mode no problem. I have cleared the cache and performed a factory reset still no response from screen. I am stuck in the first set up screen atm the menu key, back & home key all make sounds when I touch them.
If I unroot the phone will it fix this issue? if so how?
Is the phone gone/dead/unfixable?
Or can I use USB OTG to control the phone so I can use triangle away and return for warranty?
I also think USB debugging is off as well as I cannot get into the phone.
Any help will be really appreciated thanks guys.

You will just have to get a new screen (i9305) as theres no way to fix via software! This also happened to XDA dev tv presenter Erica.
Thanks rayner123 but thats not what I wanted hear....

flashing note2 cfautoroot to your s3 will definitely brick your touchscreen and you cannot recover it by unrooting and flashing firmware your only choice is to bring it to warranty and before you do that follow the guide i posted here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2145908&page=2
you can still use otg even usb debugging is uncheck.
Thanks will be trying that today
Thanks just done it everything is back to stock now im go to the store yeah.
Thanks heaps chris151722

Your welcome
hi guys. so, my phone started with a problem that he thinks he is always charging(found out the problem is on usb) and then i need to reset it to send to guarantee. so i flashed stock firmware by odin, and when the phone starts, there is no triangle. but in download mode it shows 3 counts of custom binary. so i rooted the phone with cf root on Odin and then installed triangle away v3.0.1.
i open triangle away and it asks for root permission and then i granted it. so i click on reflash counter, he says "the reflash counter has been reseted" but then, nothing changes. i mean, its like the button to reflash is supposed to do nothing. the triangle stills there and the count on down mode too. anyone have any idea about why is this happening?
obs:
when i openned triangle away for the first time, it didnt ask me to install any complements. i reinstalled it a lot of times and it never asks to install complements...why is that?
really need help guys...need to send my phone to guarantee but with this count not being zero they will refuse it
Why don't you replace the board yourself? It's easy to do and the board costs 'pocket change'. Read this guide if you're not sure how to do it......

Hi, really in the need for some help and advice. I recently tried to update from cyanogenmod 10.2 to 11 however on flashing a message came up saying I had to repair my recovery. After clicking yes it got stuck into a recovery loop. So I tried flashing a new recovery using Odin since I couldn't transfer anything. However that seemed to have made it worse, Its now stuck on the S3 logo screen. Been through a couple attempts to repair however everytime I attempt to flash it just gets stuck, leaving it for half an hour to an hour i remove it. I'm pretty lost for what to do, can anyone help?
Also, to add more problems my power button sticks. I dont know if thats whats haulting the flashing?
Thanks!

Its soft brick. Try this guide. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2323847

But fix your power button first, interrupted flash can result in hard brick.
I cant use this fix, I cant access my phone to put anything on the SD and it seems like I am unable to flash anything with Odin. I'll try and break it down to fix the sticky power button but I'm clueless to what to try now?
This problem is most probably caused by the power button being stuck thus restarting your phone. Follow wat boomboomer said and fix your power button and see if it solves the problem.

Yes I have opened it up and fixed that. However I need some other way of resetting my binary counter since I cant access my phone. Any way through Odin?
No, there is no other way. Fix the boot loop first by flashing a full stock room in Odin. Factory reset afterward in recovery.
