Just a question, did you flash the firmware 4.3 from Alliances rom page? Once you do that, then you go into the custom recovery and flash the Rom.

Still that annoying error 7?

Ok, I am lost, I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I tried to install the latest XXDLI8 leak, and I am met with error 7 in CWM.
I even downloaded and flashed the needed PDA from sammobile (which is XXBLG8_XABLG8_XXLH1) but I still get error 7? The assert check fails on PreloadInstaller
What's the deal?
Did you flash root and the modem? LH1 IIRC?

I flashed Cf-root, yes, but it doesn't interfere with what the assert checks check, and I need not flash the LH1 modem since it's already in the firmware I flashed with ODIN.
I flashed i9300XXBLG8 i9300XABLG8 i9300XXLH1, which was listed as the needed PDA to flash the XXDLI8 OTA.

you need to flash this one: I9300XXBLG8_I9300OXABLG8_I9300XXLG8_HOME.tar
and then the lh1 modem separatly or you will get the error 7.

Then why did Sammobile themselves link to I9300XXBLG8_I9300OXABLG8_I9300XXLH1 as the needed PDA?
Don't know why. But had the same problem. Error 7 seems to be an file checksum problem and separte flashing solves it.

For me it only works without flaws if I use the odin base that perka made. Now and the I do have hiccups with it though.

Root is not really required to flash the OTA. However the Rom and the modem need to be flashed separately.

Don't use this Rom. This Rom seem to be corrupt. Instead download the LG8 Rom from goo.im and flash the LH1 modem separately.

EDIT: You mean the LG8 one Pulser has uploaded? http://goo.im/devs/pulser/GalaxyS3
Sammobile are linking to http://www.hotfile.com/dl/170853923/e311e2f/I9300XXBLG8_I9300OXABLG8_BTU.zip.html which still needs the LH1 modem flashed after the ROM flash.
It does work, but you have to flash the modem or you get the 7 error. As above the root steps are not needed, until after the OTA anyway.

Well I downloaded it and it seems like it's the "legit" LG8 one so I'll go with it.
Damnit, even more problems. I downloaded and flashed the correct LG8, then I cf-rooted, and installed the LH1 modem and when I finally was supposed to install the OTA, the assert check failed on /system/SW_configuration.xml and threw me an error 7.

So you odin flashed the base rom
then odin flashed cf-root
boot into cwm and flash LH1 and OTA (no reboot between) and error 7?
Weird. Something wrong with one of those files.

Pls dont root until fully cooked. Here are my steps.
Do factory reset before flashing
Flash stock BLG8 rom through odin and restart.
On the startup screen where you choose the lang, dont proceed further. Just restrart in the download mode again.
Flash the LH1 modem through odin and restart and again on the startup screen restart the phone in recovery mode. Do factory reset and chose the OTA file flash through recovery. Let the upgarde complete. Dont reboot, just do factory reset again and enjoy the leak.
You may root now if required.

has su binary but not sure about superuser app. I think its the stock kernel but I'm not sure... you can do this if its needed but maybe not needed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34180283#post34180283
I mention that because if you want to avoid the yellow triangle and have a kernel that flashes things you can use Mobile Odin or extract the zImage and use hc-ktool to flash the below kernel.
Kernel for flashing; no CWM app though, so need to hold power home and volume up on boot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1877270

Just use Mobile Odin via your mobile, it will also re-root and inject SU etc anyway.

[Q] How to Flashing the MJ9 OTA Firmware

Hi, i just bought my note 2 and ive already unlocked it and rooted it, i want to use a ROM that has 4.3 Jelly Bean like the N3BULA ROM, it says flash the MJ9 OTA Firmware using Odin. But on the forums there is a forum called "Once you're unlocked don't use odin to flash custom ROMs"
1. I should be able to flash the MJ9 using odin safely right because its not a custom rom right?
2. How do i flash the MJ9 update using odin?
3. Once i flash the MJ9 update can i still use non 4.3 ROM?
Question 1: You are correct.
Question 2: Download, then extract with 7zip. Put phone into download mode. Open Odin on computer and connect the phone. Place extracted md5 into the pda slot and hit start. It'll do it's thing and your phone will reboot and be done.
Question 3: Yes as long as don't take the OTA update from Samsung you will able load roms as usual
Once my phone is in download mode, odin doesn't recognize my phone. Any reason why ? I'm so frustrated

Check your drivers. If you've used casual, sometimes removing those drivers will help and by also installing updated Samsung drivers.
If you've done all of the above and it's still not recognized. I recommend trying a different USB cable.

Info that may help: I searched here in xda not on this device or I'd post a link, for how to install Odin and found that for each Samsung device there are some set of Odin versions that are compatible. I used Odin just now (took less than a minute) version 3.07 for my phone. Note that my drivers were already installed and working since I unlocked the bootloader a year ago. For others: it simply rebooted afterwards and all is well.

I think jelly bean is better coz KitKat is having problems in every update and games also lag very much ... these are just my views it depends on you to update or not however you can't downgrade after you have upgraded
