Bought two Sprint lcd digitizer replacements for my note 3 since they were cheap. They work great with my Verizon motherboard but lte does not work with the Sprint assembly if you're in a certain location. I also have a note 2 and get lte at my location. I switch back to my broken bleeding Verizon note 3 assembly and get lte no problem. Switch and try both Sprint assembly and only 3g. When I'm in the city I do get lte eventually with full signal. Bottom line, if you used to get lte on the outskirts of the city then you might not get it if using the Sprint assembly. Something is different but I just can't figure it out. I took all my guts, speakers , etc out of my Verizon housing and put in the Sprint and still no lte. So I tried everything. Just keep this in mind if purchasing a Sprint lcd digitizer assembly.

May not be what you wa t to hear but not all Assembly's are compatible they may work for some things but not others if you replace something like that yourself you need to buy the replacement for your specific phone if I misunderstood what you did im sorry but I do repair phones as part of my job so I have had this issue come up with people before

Found FIX
Had to replace my whole Front panel also and i bought a Sprint replacement Digitizer and LCD. I could not figure out why i wasn't getting LTE. As crazy as it sounds, it turned out to be the front facing camera and IR Blaster flex cable. You have to Transfer over your original Verizon Flex cable over to the sprint Frame. Went from 2 bars of 3g to 3 Bars of LTE with the Orginal Flex.
Hope it helps

Like omg man haha I forgot about the ir sensor. That was the only thing I didn't transfer over to the new one. I'll do this right now. 3g isn't nice lol I over looked that tiny little piece.

Tell me about it, 3g sucks! Lol I actually haven't even seen the 3G icon come up after doing this. LTE all day!
Let's me know if it worked for you
Ok I went and changed the part you mentioned. Still no lte. I went from Verizon black housing too Sprint white housing. In my case the Sprint housing was causing the issue with lte. Not sure how a piece of plastic can cause this. I looked at it and the only flex contacts are the one for the speaker. Lte works fine with my original Verizon rear housing

Back in business. A combination of What you said change out and changing back to Verizon rear housing I now have my lte back. Thanks again. The Sprint housing does have some differences so I'll attach pictures of that for others to see.

Also wanted to add that the part numbers for the ir/front camera is different as well between Verizon and Sprint.

Hello everyone. Something that came to my attention today that I wanted to share with everyone was the issue of slow network speeds, including GPS. Since the antenna are attached to the back cover if the camera, if removed and not reattached properly, speeds will take a hit. Make sure the contact points are clean, and also make sure the cover is set properly in place. The slightest shift in the cover creates a bad connection. If this has already been addressed then great, otherwise, just something to consider if your speeds take a hit.
Thanks!

I'm guessing the antennas on the cover are worthless. My signal is the same with the cover removed a with it on.

Is that an antenna or the NFC chip inside the black cover?

Pull up the debug screen and go to the EVdo data screen and pull the cover off. Watch the signal number.

The following link applies to the One X, but we have the same type of prong connectors. It's possible we have the same type of issue basically:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688538
Ok I made a thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1710905
I'm pretty sure that's the NFC antenna only not anything for data.
Edit nevermind I was wrong.
Looks to me like all of the antennas are in the plastic back cover. I was playing with it today and could make my signal strength on 3g vary by over 12 db just by squeezing and tapping on the plastic cover. Not an optimum design, in my opinion.

I wonder if it would be worthwhile to put drops of solder on contact points (there are something like four-five; you can clearly see them as scratch marks on copper). Maybe people with an unusually bad reception can fix it that way.

They look to be gold plated contact points, so I suspect putting solder on them would actually worsen the problem.
for some reason i get better signal than my old evo.
I think you are on to something! I removed and reattached the back cover and all signal issues disappeared including the wifi drops.

okay guys i have to say it. I have loved Sprint for years. Ever since my LG Rumor!!
But the **** i got going on now is ridiculous. My signal is horrible. complete garbage. I activated my og EVO the other day and its signals were PERFECT at home and at work. Today I re activated my EVO LTE and it just looses 3G connection and I can't send texts half the time.
I got my phone replaced and it still ****.. (pardon my language)
I love Sprint and their business model and what they are doing. I LOVE my HTC EVO LTE but I absolutely can't stand the service!
ideas?
Ok so my charging port has been pretty janky the past week or 2 and now it won't charge my EVO at all. I tried multiple cables and such and it's definitely the port. Now I'm figuring if I bring it in they will label it a manufacturer defect since there isn't a scratch on my phone and such but would I be able to get them to swap it for an s3 if they can't fix it? My friend back in the day got a different phone from a replacement because they considered an equivalent trade or something and in wanna try a s3 just to see how it is since my friend is in love with his and if anything I would bring it back in the 10 or 14 day return Window to get the EVO back. But yeah has anyone had any experience with getting a different equivalent phone as a replacement?
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
The charge port is not a known weak part on this phone, so they may claim abuse or say that your phone fell with the cord plugged in.
They may refuse to cover it unless you have the extra insurance.
I doubt very much you will be able to work out a switch and personally I don't see why you would want to. The S3 is a plastic phone with a screen I hate and a lesser GPS and camera. The only plus to the G3 is more development and more memory that doesn't really seem to make the phone run any beter or even as well as a rooted evo.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but that is not a warranty issue, it is considered user damage and Sprint won't fix it. You will have to claim it on insurance and no, they won't give you a different phone. Most likely a refurbished phone. If you have Best Buy insurance they will replace it with another evo LTE. If you have Sprint insurance you will have to pay the deductible.

Ok thanks for the info guys. Guess I'll just have to take my chances and see when I go there.
Midmadn: the s3 and EVO each have their ups and downs. With the EVO I love the build quality, camera features, and audio. But the radios are weird, mine got a slight bend from my pocket by the kickstand (easily bent back), and HTC is stupid with source. With the s3 I like the screen, the plastic doesn't really bother me, I like the led notification customization, aosp is just about perfect since Sammy actually releases source, and the radios actually work as intended. Sure the camera doesn't have the same features but it still has quick shots and that works for me. Every one has their own opinions on phones so yeah...

Everything is different for everyone but a friend had same problem with his EVO LTE and Sprint replaced on the spot, new and no deductible. They indicated it was covered under warranty no questions asked. Hopefully you will get the same treatment. If Best Buy, you should be golden as they are the best warranty service IMO.

I had the same exact issue with my previous EVO and they would not replace it. However, I went to different store and there was no problem. Honestly, it varies per store.
So this has been somewhat bothering me since pretty much day one and I have told myself it's not a big deal just me being "nit picky" but I just have to mention and ask...
My DNA is "creaky" on the front glass I clean my display endlessly and it makes a creaky (for lack of a better description or recording of the actual sound..) sound.. I also notice that when I put it down there is a noise from the camera area.. (maybe auto focus lens..)
but my main concern is the creaky sound on the front and when i grip the phone on the sides...
Does anyone else notice this?
Thats too bad to hear. Mine is solid all around.

If your phone is less than 14 days old, you may easily get it replaced at Verizon store.
I had this issue, and got a new replacement without any hassle.
You just got a phone like that. Either get it replaced or get used to it. Sorry...
I wouldn't be happy either. Doubt Verizon will swap it for that. I'd try to tell them it gets hot or doesn't hold the charge or something. They swapped my husband's Rezound cause it was hot and dying in a matter of hour when plugged in and used as GPS in the car. Tell them you have a problem like that.

well, crap... all this time I should have gone by the VZW store to check the demo units or ask here like I thought about originally... I got my phone at Best Buy and out of the return policy I could probably get the my friend at VZW to replace my phone under warranty.. it's just that in the past I have had issues CLNA phones..

My DNA its a CLN that I got as a alternate replacement and was literally flawless.

Mines been solid since I got it. And I'm very particular when it comes to creaky phones. I'd try to get a replacement.
Mine creaked bottom right, replaced it and its better though I can briefly recreate the noise if the battery flap isn't seated properly.

Same here.
Mine is solid as a rock.
This set is "the nuts"! (poker term).
Except for the fact that you can't even look at it without somehow touching the rocker volume and changing the setting.
I don't want a case on it so I just remember to handle it without actually touching it.
Or get Volume Locker app.
With case off, no creaks on mine. Then again, the instant I pulled it out of the box, I babied it in a screen protector and ballistic sg case. My Nexus 7 though, creaks like no other.
Sometimes phones can begin to show creaking after having a case on it that was too small for it. Have you recently had problems removing a case?
I have two DNA's and had to replace one due to this creaking sound. Verizon did not think it was a problem, but exchanged it anyway after I insisted the sound was bothering me.

I dropped my Note 2 right on the face and broke the glass. The top right corner looks like a spider web with a few cracks stretching to the bottom. The display still works though . I plan to get a new glass and replace it myself. I've found quite a bit of info on how to do it.
My only question is this. When I last made a call with it the screen wouldn't come back on when I pulled it away from my face. I'm hoping it's just because of the cracks that run right across the 2 sensors at the top. Do you think it could be that or do you think maybe one of the sensors broke when it fell.
I sure don't want to have to replace the whole lcd unit. That's about $250 while the glass is about $20.

Hey thanks Luke. It's good to see you again. I'm actually using my Charge again for calls and texts. I find I've gotten really spoiled by my Note. The old phone feels clunky and slow.
Thanks for the good info. I'll definitely look for that when I take the busted screen off. It'll take a few days to get the parts. Wish me luck. I think I'm gonna need it. It looks like a hard job.

Another question. I'd like to be able to make the display stay on when I'm holding it up to my ear. Does anyone know a way to do that? I'd really like to use my Note even though the screen is broken. I don't like my Charge any more because it's too small.

small crack with resolution prob.
I have a small crack in upper right of screen & now my sharp color is gone. It is now very dull almost like I used a photo app & added an overlay to it. Need some advice
Well I got my parts and got the tools I needed to fix my screen. The problem was I got the wrong type plastic razor blades. I got scraper blades instead. I tried it anyway and ended ripping my LCD screen. Now it's costed an extra $ 200+ for a LCD Digitizer assembly. Hopefully the next day delivery will still work even though yesterday was a holiday and the post offices were closed.
Anyway, what I'm leading up to is don't try this if everything isn't kosher. It's a tricky job.
Update: I found out they won't even ship it til Monday. I guess I don't get it back this weekend. I really don't like my old Charge after using my Note all these months.
Within having this phone about 5days I tripped over the charger and my phone flipped over, upon picking it up I didn't notice it at first but there is a small I wouldn't say Crack, but it's like a slit going from the middle of the Verizon logo, down to the right of the phone. It's about one inch.. When looking at my phone It is not noticeable unless I slant it. Now I'm thinking about getting a new screen and this time a case.. I just would like help finding the right scren for this phone. I only need the plastic front screen. Unless I will need a whole new digitizer set. Sigh..

if i remember correctly you'll need to get the set - i believe the screen is glued to the digitizer and is nearly impossible to remove.
