Bugs after xposed? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I got my nexus 5 this week and rooted and installed xposed framework. I have a handful of modules running and have noticed bugs. I'm not sure if it's because of using xposed or if it is just stock android bugs..
1) randomly there will be a new blank home screen created
2) Sometimes volume button doesn't work
3) cannot copy links from YouTube /autoTRADER and share on bbm/hangouts Sometimes. The screen just goes black.
Has anyone has similar issues? The modules I have are:
Gravitybox, advanced power menu, bootmanager, hide apps xposed, rootcloak, wireless charging xposed
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app

Stating the obvious but you have rebooted the device right. Also there is a possibility that there is a conflict between two modules. If nothing helps try disabling one module at a time. Hope you resolve your issue.
Sent from my Nexus 5

I have tried rebooting and going through the apps and disabling them. No luck though. Has anyone else experienced any similar issues?

Ive searched many forums and found no real answers to this issue, my battery is draining extremly fast, ive got temeseks kernal installed
and have zzmoove profile set, and its on extreme battery..but still high battery drain..Im not sure what to do because of all the roms ive flashed, this seems to be the one i like the most and i find it to be the most stable in terms of performance.
Ill really appreciate if someone would help me :good:

HI, I had this problem in my Galaxy Note 10.1 .
My girlfriend's Galaxy S3 also started to eat up battery after 4 months.
for both of them, I got the charger and data cable replaced by the samsung service center.
The problem got solved.
So, may be this can be your case too.
The thing is, for charging a battery to it's full capacity, the charger need to supply appropriate current and appropriate voltage. Now with the malfunctioning of the charger (source) or the data cable (path) can lead to unhealthy charging of the battery.
Now, According to my logic, (I am not sure if it's true) the phone reads the voltage and tells you the percentage of the remaining battery. But actually battery does not have much current to make the voltage stand still. That is because, when the phone will not recieve appropriate current according to the system's resistance, It will definitely eat up more voltage, and the battery will drain quickly.
I hope this helps you
This is my first solution posted on XDA, I dont know if you see a thanks button, but If you do, and this helps you, Please hit the thanks button
Thanks
Aosp are known for draining s3 battery, especially cm.
It is a simple suggestion, but on MY ACCOUNT foxhound 0.1 based on 4.2.2 is one of the least battery draining samsung based roms if not the least. It is certainly stable, you can theme it with xposed and change launcher if you don't like touchwiz....

Remember if you choose any 4.2.2 samsung based rom not to change kernel, default is good enough anyway...

Hi I really appreciate your feedback, but I am not so clued up on how exposed works or how to theme, Ive tried to, butIi couldnt really grasp the concept..:silly:
Technical-ish definition: it is a framework, so it wraps around android system at startup and patches the ui packages required for it to apply mods.
User definition: a package you can install to mod your phone, mostly for themes. First you install it, then you install modules, which are more packages that come with options. They basically use the xposed framework to be able to mod/theme your phone. So.
install xposed ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401install apk and open app. From there you can EASILY install the framework with a button).
Install any module (they come as apks).
Activate module within xposed and use module to tweak settings (usually they come with their own app, or you can just go to modules in xppsed and press the name).
When you restart the phone will apply changes
pretty easy, all the developing is back end.
If your phone crashes at startup there is a package ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1619566&d=1361912360 ) you can flash through recovery to simply disable xposed at startup no problem so you can then go back to xposed app and disable modules not compatible with your rom that made your phone crash. Some nice modules (you can find installation apks either on xda or inside xposed download menu):
Nottach xposed ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2285074 )
wanam xposed (app store or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2383484 )
Xblast tools ( http://repo.xposed.info/module/ind.fem.black.xposed.mods )
Gravity box (download section in xposed or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2316070 )
Maybe you can find some more of these in download section within xposed app, also look there.
There are also many other packages for tweaking backgrounds or just the status bar and many specifuc things....
And there is much more. Remember these modules may make the phone crash if applied together (there is a check-box activation menu in xposed managing , so you can have more installed at the same time but not activated) so it's probably best not to activate the most similar ones at the same time.
Also you can find somewhere in xda a thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2327541) which rounds up all xposed available modules. Or the website which is a bit more difficult to navigate, i'd use xda.thread.but you can also find modules here ( http://repo.xposed.info/module-overview ).
xposed may look complicated, but couldn't be simpler!

Try using better "wifi on off" application from play store. Looks like your wifi is using lot of battery juice.
Also try Googy kernel.

Its seems like when my mobile data is on, my battery is getting drained, my battery was almost drained at like 12, but lasted me the rest of the day when i switched off my data
it could be because Bittorrent sync wasn't disabled in data, but ill only know for sure tomorrow..
Here are my battery stats for today
I have been struggling with very high battery drain rate myself for long while. I even bought the fat and heavy 3000mha battery pack - samsung's official, to combat it and it still did not feel right.
Always HIGHEST battery draining cause if I let the phone idle a lot, is Android system, that's weird.
Finall I caved and tried better battery stats and just immediately looking at the core stuff in "android system" or so, seems it is Wifi wakelocking the phone.
Wait what, why is Wifi doing that?
Anyway, pretty much disabling wifi remedies that... THough I would prefer to use Wifi myself.
Whatever it is, and seeing it crosses over roms, even official though there it is least felt - It has something to do with samsung's wifi driver updates or something. I may be just silly for thinking maybe 9.0 that mine shipped with was so much better in that regard.
My hope is lost of samsung actually fixing this, all they seem to so is make it worse gradyally and increasingly.
TL;DR: Wifi is a bish.
Same issue.
I bought the i9300 a couples a day brand new. but i did replace the stock rom with others. and even it`s still a bit rubish, even in RAM. 10h of normal use and my battery is gone... and my RAM is only ~100mb free.

Did you turn mobile data off?
It looks like youve had over 4 hours no data.
Plus, lots of network related wakelocks multipdp... Shame we cant see what the deleted wakelocks are... l2_hisc is high too.
"deleted_wake_locks" (): 4 h 18 m 41 s (15521 s) Cntc/wc/ec)721540/0/9118 42,6%
"multipdp" (): 2 h 52 m 29 s (10349 s) Cntc/wc/ec)4071/0/4070 28,4%
"l2_hsic" (): 2 h 30 m 31 s (9031 s) Cntc/wc/ec)17053/3130/17052 24,8%
Yeah..I turned my mobile data off because after lunch my battery was at 20% and it lasted till I got back home at around 6..any suggestions? Anything else I could provide that would make it easier to diagnose the issue?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
You need to try and "catch" whatever those deleted wakelocks are... You're going to have to manually keep an eye on BBS.
Personally, I would just factory reset teh device and start fresh.
Yeah..I'm going to do that now..hopefully that will sort the issue out..Will let you know the outcome..Thank You I really do appreciate your time

Also remember to use samsung's battery reserve option (i don't know the italian translation for english, it's that icon accessible from samsungs.notification that usually has the recycling or battery icon), because even though a phone can already be draining little battery (which is my case), that option can have a 50% improvement. Which is of course excellent if you can't charge your phone during the afternoon.

Hangouts with sms is great along with the other updated apps, but damn I love the Google Experience launcher. Way less options than nova or apex, but the always-on hotword detection on homescreens is great. Just wondering if anyone else here is trying them out?

i think i installed 90% of them, so far so good. i cant wait for our phone to have it.
Apparently CM will continue to focus on 4.3 builds, so I don't expect a CM11 anytime soon. Knowing our luck with this device, we'll probably have issues with kit kat builds anyway. Still, the launcher and hangouts are pretty badass. It's just a shame there's no official support for icon packs with stock launchers. I have to use an xposed module to use my icon pack of choice on this new launcher and I sometimes feel like it slightly slows the device down.

I had most of the 4.4 .APKs (including the launcher and Google Now) installed on my cm10.2 build for the past day or so, but today I experienced the crash/bootloop scenario that's been plaguing the nightly builds lately; after a forced reboot, all the 4.4 apps were gone, and since I had frozen Trebuchet in TiBU, I was without a launcher and had to restore a NAND backup. Was I supposed to lock all the 4.4 apps into the system folder or something?

I don't know why they would disappear but you could have enabled trebuchet without restoring. You could have accessed the settings through quick settings, went to the apps section, found trebuchet and hit enable. Also, there's no reason to freeze it. Once you switch to a different launcher and reboot, none of your other installed launchers will run. Just for future reference.

Settings was even crashing upon opening; it was incredibly odd. As for the freezing, I and many others who installed the 4.4 launcher were experiencing the default launcher setting not sticking even after setting it to the 4.4 launcher; freezing Trebuchet (the only other one I had installed) fixed this. But that obviously didn't work out so well for me...

I browse /r/Android on reddit often, and people were going nuts posting links to all the apks. I'm sure they're all over the internet by now.
But yes, that's the launcher I'm running. It's so limited in features compared to others, but it really does everything I need. Some people don't seem to like the google now to the left of the main homescreen, but I'm digging it.
I'm really hoping for kit kat to make it's way to our device though. I saw there's a CM11 branch, but who knows what kind of code needs updating and/or compatibility issues.
Do you need to be rooted to do this I keep getting a parsing error
Sent from my ADR6410LVW using xda app-developers app
Checking it out myself, thanks to your thread, however after installing the apks I somehow seem to have broken the "okay Google" feature. Google search updated itself and all after installation but even if I choose search manually now it still won't respond to the command.
Your right tho, the launcher is simple but works well. The only thing I don't care for is the constant Google search box on the home screen especially when all you have to do is say the command and it goes straight there.

CM11 Alpha for the INC4G
You've got to check out Cyanogenmod 11 for our device. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2552150 I had to flash the updated Recovery but I have had no issues so far. There's a fair bit in 4.4 that you don't get from the base Kit Kat apps that you can install for 4.1 and up.
CM 11 nightly
I've been using the nightly from 12-26 and it is 4.4.2 I have had no issues at all, and it seems to be running smooth. Battery is draining pretty well, but it does in any rom due to the lack of signal from my house. I'm at the office now, running wifi and it seems to be draining less.

Note 3 unstable. anyone else having any stability issues?

the Note 3 seems a bit unstable. anyone else having stability issues?
many apps randomly crash. Craigslist C+ seems particularly unstable (and yet at times I can go half an hour no crash)
sometimes even components of the stock rom will crash.
I am rooted on MJ4 with xposed and some modules running. not much else really.
it also double boots and "upgrades" every single time I restart the device.
it will boot up say updating apps or something like that then boot again say starting apps and finished.
it does this every single time without exception.
any ideas?
You're running xposed so its probably that not the note in itself...

I've experience double boots off and on even prior to rooting. Seems to be a bug that's plagued a lot of GN3 owners and there currently isn't much known as to what the root cause is for now. As for your other hiccups I'm thinking xposed is conflicting with a few things.
Sent from my SM-N900P using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
all of these issues predate installation of xposed. I always run my systems unmodified for a bit so I know if something I install is causing an issue.
Turn off the Wifi Scanning crap to eliminate some of the double reboots.
To the OP, what exposed modules are you running? Do you have a non stock kernel?
App settings to put 320dpi unfriendly apps back to 480 wanam and app selector (so wonderful the jb method sucks)
As o said though the insrabilty predates xposed. I jave a feeling its android 4.3 since the issues are app specific.
Pro hdr is stuck at wide exposure
Craigslist c+ just randomly crashes
Starchart will move vertically but not horizontally
And of course the souble reboot thing.
Also bluetooth is funny. Sometines it simply will not transfer audio until I reboot.

I already gave a potential fix on the double boot thing.
As far as the apps, I only see 2 of the 3 apps in the play store. Glance thru the reviews on them to see if others had similar issues.
If most of your other apps work just fine, I'd suspect the apps themselves not being updated.

From another page on this issue: (there's several sites with this listed as the fix)
Problem 2: How to Solve Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Reboot Loop Problem
Plenty of Samsung Galaxy Note 3 users said on XDA-Developers forum that their devices occasionally enter a boot loop. Some reported their Note 3 would reboot while charging, plugging in or installing apps from the Play Store. However, the reboot loop problem is not really solved after a hard reset. The issue might be caused by the inserted micro SD cards, the apps installed on the handset or the antenna, because switching the device to Flight mode can be helpful in most cases.
Troubleshooting:
When your Galaxy Note 3 units experience the troublesome random reboot loop, you can remove the back cover and take out the battery. Then follow the steps below to uncheck the option “Always allow scanning” to handle the continuous reboot problem.
Pull out the SD card > Insert the Battery > Reboot the device > Go to Menu > System Setting > Wi-Fi > Menu > Advanced >Uncheck “Always allow scanning” > Use the back key to return to the home page > Power off the Note 3 > Insert the SD card > Install the battery > Replace the Note 3 rear cover > Turn on the device
Many people have managed to handle the Note 3’s reboot loop issue by following this troubleshooting.
Its called cpro craigslist client
Interesring. Turnkng off the wifi thing did not fix the problem but it did change it.
First I have never had my note 3 reboot on me. Ever.
Its when "I" reboot it. Or pull the battery etc..
It starts ul plays tje boot animation then I get the blue and grey android is upfrading box. Then it does the boot anim as tion again then theupgradint box again finished the. It loads.
Now it does the exact same thin sans the second playing od the boot animation.

The double reboot and updating android issue most likely stems from an Odex/Deodex conflict. Deodex mods flashed or installed on an odex rom.

NEXUS 9 Freezing too
I too am having problems with the screen freezing too. Only way out is to force a reboot by holding the power button. Image on screen becomes garbled, and if sound is playing at the time of freeze, a loud time is continuously heard. Occurs almost exclusively while using graphic intensive apps, and after extended periods of use. Also, usually feels warm/hot too the touch on the device back near the camera's corner. Has occurred while running stock 5.0.2, and while running Dirty Unicorns 5.0.2 with Elemental X Kernel. Has only been occurring over the past 2 weeks or so, and it didn't correspond to any OTA'S or similar system change. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I am now trying to see if underclocking the CPU/GPU help prevent this, and turned on Elemental X's Thermal Throttling in case over heating is the issue.
My Nexus freezes at least once per day, and lags, and automatically reboots at least once per week. Glad 5.1 will be rolled out soon to us. I hope it fixes all these issues.
mine has stutters all day - used stock and AICP and happens on both. it's almost always when using chrome. the quickest way to get the screen active again is to swipe down on the nav bar.
Yep Chrome is where I get my freezes. Happens on my N5 too. Might just be Chrome or maybe Adaway?

A couple apps lag & should I encrypt it?

Overall I'm enjoying my new Nexus 9. Out of the box, I rooted it and only made a few modifications to the system. I installed TWRP, AdAway, and the Xposed framework installer for the fallowing : YouTube ad blocker, and a power menu modifier for restart options.
The only issue that I have with it is that a couple games get real laggy. The problem one is The Simpsons Tapped Out.
Any idea how to prevent this or cut it down?
As of now I'm running stock marshmallow 6.0.1 with the above changes. I close apps out when I'm done with them, and encryption is disabled.
With all this, I'm wondering if I should encrypt the tablet. It's primary use is school e-books. Secondary is games, streaming, and web surfing.
