SD card write issues - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

It seems like after updating to the latest update, Kit Kat, I am unable to write anything to my sd card. Anybody have any ideas how to fix this?
Sent from my SM-N900P using xda app-developers app

It seems that after updating to kit Kat everyone that continues to make the same sd card can't write error threads and can't install twrp or root ... has obviously forgotten how to read the other threads already posted about said issue. ..

There is a fix in the n9005 area that addresses this problem, please search that forum for ext sdcard write....

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I did do a search of the forums but the only solutions I found involved root. As far as I know, you can't root from my Mac, and my school has no PCs, everybody has a macbook. So I was wondering if anybody has a solution that doesn't involve root. Should I just use Android file transfer and manually move my files?

It's a small platform file fix for this device, which can be done manually using root explorer.
Navigate to system, etc, permissions, rename the file labeled platform.xml to the same with a bak extension, then download, unzip, copy the following, gifted to me by @blackcanopy to the same location as the one you just renamed, set permissions to rw, r, r, and reboot.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/fw7rm75xl22mzvo/platform.xml.zip
If the above doesn't work, I understand that there is a play store app that does the exact same thing for you.
Good luck!

Unless you root, you're stuck. You can either go with the Knox safe method outlined in the general development forum, or trip Knox and have more options.
Both involve risk, so choose as is best for you.
Ultimately, you may need to hie yourself to a place that gives you access to a Windows machine, or add Windows to your Mac is you want a more workable solution.

bunch of dicks in this place!!!
Sorry that people are jumping at you for posting in the dev section, but there is a reason we have specific forums for different topics and it has to stay organized otherwise no one would know where to find stuff. This is posted pretty explicitly in every forum.
Anyways as far as rooting on a mac, I gave up on trying to install heimdall. For some reason I kept getting a "heimdall.kext not installed properly" error. I ended up using ODIN in boot camp. If you don't have windows, I know you can download a 30 day trial of Parallels 7 to create a virtual machine. They let you use a consumer preview release of Windows 8 for free. I didn't try ODIN in Windows 8 but maybe it could work. Good luck
Thank you!

Is there a simple method to root galaxy S3?
what does no tripping flash counter mean? why are images required? will that reset phone to stock again?

Pretty much any method is fairly streamline now. There's a root toolkit that does all the work for you, all you have to do is enter in a number that relates to the command when you run it. Be certain you are using the proper root method for your carrier and follow all instructions carefully.
Tripping the flash counter happens when you flash your recovery via odin. It triggers the built in counter in download mode to show that you have "tampered" with the device, and therefor can be refused warranty work. To avoid this, use either ADB through command line, or terminal emulator.

I agree that there is a lot of posts all over the place but to all fairness, there is posts in this same section http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1722344 that shows you exactly what to do to root.
I agree that you NEED TO READ. If you aren't willing to do the research you're going to have an expensive brick instead of an amazing phone running Jelly Bean roms or whatever you choose.
Also, don't just rely on one thread. Read multiple so you see opinions and suggestions.

Don't think it matters if you trip the flash counter any more there's an app to get rid of it Triangle Away. Also be careful many people have Lost there Imei# and now have a very expensive mp3 player. Might be a good idea to wait until they figure out how to back up imei first.

I literally got my phone, read here for 30 min and had a rooted phone in 45 after the phone arrived. Bottom line is u didn't read. Don't give me that shot that there are so many threads. Check the stickies. It's right there man. Sorry to be a ****, but I can't stand lazy people.

I think it's funny how quick everyone is to tell people to read - When there are likely many threads that you've started that a google search could've solved in 5 minutes. He had plenty of other questions that had nothing to do with how to root his device. Yes reading can help solve most of his issues, but when you have the possibility of turning a 600$ phone completely worthless, it doesn't hurt to ask questions.

It is pretty straight forward. Make sure you have the drivers installed before rooting. In short, follow the instructions to the point. If you are worried about tripping your flash counter, there is a specific root method you follow. If you do not care, then you can use the tool kit. If you look through the posts in the development section, you will easily find it. PM me if you need help.

Its relatively safe. Just as long as you do research and know 100% what you are doing.
The risk, like almost anything is a brick and bootloop.
Please take some of my advice and avoid stress and hassel. Research and understand how to root then before rooting, research and learn how to recover your device from a bootloop, soft brick etc. Only when confident and you have all necessary info then proceed to root. Once rooted immediately back up your efs folder numerous times in different locations PC laptop dropbox etc. Do this and avoid hassle i didn't and got a bootloop. I panicked thought it was broke put phone in washing machine to hide the fact i had rooted it and claimed on insurance (£50 excess). With proper research could of fixed it myself in 5 mins. Happy flashing .

I don't know what Kingo root is, but this method is super easy. I can't imagine how much easier it could be made than what is posted here. It is my understanding that he killed it because of financial reasons. I guess a couple other competing developers are in the mix so he dumped the N3 and moved to the Nexus 5.
As far as reposting his work.... He already posted it online and its now hosted in a number of spots on the web. Cat's out of the bag. I'm just trying to make it easier for those looking and not have them go off XDA.

Dude, it's fine, it just seemed odd to take the time to start a thread, omit the very thing you're pitching, and to further take the time to tell someone to search for it. As others have noted, text is a muddy way to convey intent, but it's all we have here. That's why I go straight to sarcasm; it provides cover in case I'm off the mark (that last bit was sarcasm, so please take it with a grain of salt).
I'd suggest taking a deliberative approach when you have the time, and clean up the first post in its its entirety.
You could provide source info, approval from the dev of the app, perhaps screenshots, and summarize your experience with the app.
The dev indicates that it likely works with other devices, so it seems to me that you could do both the visitor and the app developer a service by providing useful info. Lacking this, it has the semblance of a half-baked announcement. Failing to link accomplished less than if you'd have posted nothing.
These are merely suggestions. It's your thread, and thus your call.
