Hello, yesterday my phone freezes and I couldn`t make a restart, I removed the battery but the screen still worked 30sec, now the phone does not want to start, I tried to make reset but nothing. Any suggest what happened or what can I do? Thank you.
If the phone won't boot at all, you don't really have many options. Try a jig & see if you can get into download mode. Also search for KingRat's 'jumpstart' method where you try and boot the phone with just the charger/without the battery.
Failing that, you could try another battery, but be aware that is unlikely to be the problem, and you'll end up with a new battery you can't use if you decide to get a new phone rather than have this one repaired.
Service centre or local mobile repair shop, most likely fix = motherboard replacement.
As to why/how it happened; who knows ? We don't have the phone in front of us & opened up in order to diagnose it. Nobody here can tell you that.

what do you think, the problem is with a hardware (i need to replace something on the MO) or with the phone`s OS, can a JTAG help me?
@MistahBungle has spelt it out pretty clear......you CAN'T replace individual components on the motherboard..... attempting to do so is just asking for trouble......
If your phone still has warranty, DON'T try JTAGging, Samsung WILL see that this has been attempted (due to the fact that wires have to be soldered to the motherboard to connect the JTAG) and they WILL shout "unauthorized rework" and "warranty void".......

phone is stuck on "samsung" logo or dosn't turn on?

Hi,
I have a i9100.
It had an AOKP ROM android version 4.1.X.
I tried to flash a new ROM (Slim ROM) using CWM. It got me to a soft brick (only the slim rom logo appeared when I powered up the phone).
I then downloaded Odin to try getting it unbrick, but I excellently checked the "re-partition" checkbox, and while it was flashing to the samsung stock rom, I unplugged the usb cable (don't ask why I did it, I'm not sure my self).
Now the phone is definitely hard bricked. I took it to a lab, and they did not managed to get it working. I'm guessing they tried a JTAG. So I ordered a JIG from ebay, but the JIG won't get me to download mode. I removed the battery and SIM (don't have sdcard), wait for 15 seconds, put the battery back in, and plugged in the JIG. Nothing happened.
The phone doesn't show any sign of life when it's plugged to the charger or to the computer via USB cable.
Are there any other methods I should try before I give up?
Can I claim my warranty?
Thanks,
Motherboard replacement either by service centre or get a board from a broken/'donor' phone & replace it yourself.
Nobody here can say whether they'll fix it under warranty or not, you're only going to know that if you send it to a service centre. Tell them it died while doing an OTA firmware update (Say as little as possible). Ultimately, given you borked it, they're under no obligation whatsoever to fix it under warranty if they find out you broke it.
So you can either take your chances, or get a 2nd hand board & get a local mobile shop to swap it out for you if you're not confident doing it yourself.

Well, I guess I got nothing to do than try my luck with the warranty.
Thanks for the replay. (didn't found the thanks button for rate)
Yeah, maybe youll accidentally get warranty.
Hello!
I really hope you guys can help me. I tried to flash a recovery with Odin, and now my phone won't do anything. Its screen stays black, regardless of whether I try to turn it on, or go to recovery or download mode.
Here's some background as to what I did and what I was trying to do:
I had CheckROM RevoHD V6 with CWM Recovery (v5 I think) on my phone.
I wanted to install Cyanogenmod v 10.1.3-RC2.
I followed this guide: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_i9100
However I couldn't get Heimdall to work, so I got Odin v3.07.
I used this guide with the supplied PIT file (this may have done me in).
In the attachments you can see the Odin output.
I waited a good 4-5 minutes, but my mobile wasn't restarting or anything, so I disconnected it, but couldn't get it to boot.
And as I've said before, now I only see a black screen, regardless of the buttons I push. I've tried removing and then replacing the battery, but still doesn't work.
I've read that the USB-JIG is the last resort, but that you need to at least have the screen turn on and display a logo for it to work. Is this true, or can I still in my phone's state of brokeness use it?
And if I can use a jig, this one would be a good one to get, right?
Thanks for any help!
Jig has a 0.000000000000000000000001% chance of working, but try it anyway. If you can afford to be without your phone for as long as the jig takes to arrive, try it, but if you want it fixed sooner than later - service centre. You don't flash PIT's. Ever. This is most likely the cause of your busted phone.
Yeah. PIT is the cause of most phone bricks. I don't want to lead somebody to misinformation, but I heard that you use PIT file only for 3-file stock software when you want to start again with clear fully wiped phone. This is the only situation I heard when PIT file is used.
About your problem. You can buy USB JIG. Like the user above has mentioned you have really low chances to get it working. Your last resort in this case is to try and leave the phone on warranty in samsung repair service. Many people suggest that you should say that your phone turned off during update with Samsung KIES software and has never turned on again even though it has been written on your computer screen that installation has completed succesfully. This might help and they will replace motherboard for free. If not buy new phone. Anyway be patient and wait for more answers.
Dammit. Well thanks for the replies and tips. I hope there is someone who has another tip.
The reason I went with the PIT file as well is because I did it the first time around, flashing the first recovery. So I thought it wouldn't harm this time.
No miracle fixes. If the phone won't even bootloop, you've got zero chance of fixing it yourself. It's unlikely to even be JTAG'able. A Samsung service centre certainly wouldn't attempt one given a motherboard replacement is quicker/easier for them to do (not to mention they make a nice profit margin on the labour/parts). Having mentioned motherboards, you could also source a 2nd hand one from a 'donor' phone with a broken screen & either replace it yourself or pay a local mobile repair shop to do it (will be cheaper than paying a service centre to put a new one in).
Also, if you're lucky, service centre may not notice or care that you've been messing with it/you broke it & might fix it under warranty. Tho anyone here who tells you that's a certainty is lying to you. It's a crap shoot, you might get it, you might not. Obviously if you have no warranty that's irrelevant.
Damn. I was afraid of this. I've contacted Samsung support, but I'm pretty sure they won't do anything since I'm 3 months out of guarantee.
And now I'm looking for replacements as well.
Always seems to be the way unfortunately (this kind of thing happening just after warranty expires). If you've had the phone a while (e.g since it was released), yeah, maybe a new phone might not be a bad idea. But still, get the jig, try it, see what happens. Nothing to lose except a couple of bucks for the jig.
Thanks. Will do, since it's only 4€. And it might come in handy if I replace my phone with an S3, S4 or Note 2.
I feel your pain. I did the exact same thing earlier this year. I didn't think I was still covered by the warranty but when I took it in to the service center they fixed it for free even replacing the main board (I think). Your as well to take it in on the off chance their record still show it as under warranty.
Thanks for the support. Unfortunately the service centre is not close to me, so I'm awaiting a reply from Samsung support and hope they allow me to send it to them.
At least I was just smart enough to make a backup of the files before. So nothing lost on that end, I can get all my contacts, messages, etc. back.
i tried to install gt-i9100g in my gt-i9100 phone(by mistake)..then after that my phone shows some wired actions.
1. It goes dead (doesn't turn on or go to download mode or recovery) and after sometime (variable hours or days) will shows battery icon when left in charging.
2.Then it would work for a couple of hours or days then again goes to first step and eventually return to 2nd step and continues.
3. when phones switches on i installed gb stock rom using odin and also tried jb official and also neat rom but still it goes to 1st step.
can anyone tell me what is the problem and what i can do?
Flash dorimanx and set up a 2nd rom and use that. May Slove the problem may not but either way it's worth trying. Problem is is that you flashed the wrong rom for your model.
Service centre.

i gave it to service center and they first did some soldering and put in jb and gave it back. It worked fine fine for two days then again repeated the same actions.
when approached them they replied saying that the motherboard is gone and has to be replaced.
i was thinking if anything could be done other than replacing the motherboard( as it costs INR RS 9000 app..).
2nd hand motheboard from 'donor' phone with broken screen/etc, replace board yourself or pay a local mobile repair shop to do it. Cheaper than a service centre putting a new board in.
If the phone won't boot at all & you have no download/recovery modes (when it's not working) caused by flashing firmware for a different device, what fix exactly would you like anyone here to suggest ?
It might be JTAG'able (though don't get your hopes up), but you're only going to find that out if you take it someone who does JTAG's, and they might charge you money purely to take a look at the phone regardless of whether it's possible to JTAG or not.
Edit - There may also be something hardware-wise going on as well as what you did flashing wrong firmware.
I think it's time for a new phone.
hi guys please help me out. my phone is not starting. today morning i just check my cell its working fine, i restarted it & from then its not working boot screen is getting stuck . this happens 3 times after then my cell is completely stuck
no recovery mode
no download mode
no usb detecting in pc
tried everything i can putting off the battery n all but nthing happening. so went to some local service center they are saying that we need to flash it with new software. i am also fine with it but they said my every thata will be lose. i cant lose my all the data please help me out in saving it.
my cell is samsung s2 i9100
custom rom = http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2483709&page=101
I'd be very surprised if they fix it by 'flashing it with new software', normally in these instances you'd be looking at a motherboard replacement. They may be referring to a JTAG, and your phone might be one of the lucky instances where that's possible.
Either way, if you didn't back your data up, you won't be recovering it.

thanks for the reply, well dont know what are they reffering to but they are saying phone will be fine but they cant save the data
is there any best or paid recovery software from which i can get back the data, its even very scary because that backup software will also show very old unwanted data too
Nope. The only very rough chance you may have is to contact a company who specialises in recovery of data from dead hard drives (Google search). Very unlikely to be able to help & will be very expensive if they are able to.

what does that local repair shop says on inspecting the phone ??
Motherboard Replacement or POWER IC ?? what Price does he asks for ?
nothing works phone was completely dead, i went to gaffar market but still no luck, showed to many shops but all said mother board is dead. so finally i bought one old mother board worth rs 4500 /- & now m using it
Hi,
I wasn't doing anything special with the phone, but it was acting weird - didn't allow me to make calls, hang them up in the middle, and restarted the phone, until it didn't turn on again.
It's now completely black, connecting to charger doesn't do anything either.
I tried different batteries, didn't help.
update:
After putting the battery in and trying to turn it on, even though nothing is visible - the phone gets warmer after few minutes.
I'm pretty sure it's not the screen because I would've hear the opening sound and feel the vibration..
Please help!
Thank you
Nobody here can help you with a hardware issue, you should know that having been here for as long as you have. Service centre or local mobile repair shop for diagnosis.
I already saw posts here with the same problem and some suggestions to solutions from other users.
Thought somebody here might try to give an idea so I'll know better when I go to the repair center.
Does it boot in recovery (home+ volume up+power) then wipe data factory reset if it boots in download mode(home+vol down+power) the download stock tar and flash it via odin otherwise hardware issue

'until it didn't turn on again. It's now completely black, connecting to charger doesn't do anything either'
Why won't people read OP/threads before sprouting nonsense on here.
OP - There's been one poster on here who seems to think this issue might be solvable by replacing the 'power IC' (whatever that is) on the motherboard, but the normal fix (if you want it fixed guaranteed) is to replace the motherboard. Reason being, if there's more than one component dead on the motherboard, you're going to pay twice - once for the individual component replacement which doesn't fix the problem, and again to replace the motherboard which will fix the problem.
Better to do it right first time.
Went to the service center
I gave it to the service center, they said it's a serious short circuit and they're probably going to have to "JTAG it".
I asked them if there is any way to save my information before they do that, they said no.
My question is to you - do you agree? Or can you think of a way to backup the phone before that?
Isn't there a way to read the memory using an external device and back it up?
I need a quick reply.
Thank you
Nope, if you don't have it backed up, no chance. Although, there's a very slim chance a company that specialises in recovery of data from dead hard drives might be able to. Expect this to be very expensive if it is at all possible.
Also, there's a fair chance a JTAG won't work as well, it's quite possible only a motherboard replacement will fix it. But you might be lucky.
Thank you for your quick reply
Another update
Hi,
There's another update - they now say they need to replace "power component".
Google search didn't find anything called "power component".
They also said that replacing that component will cause the data to be lose.
What do you think?
Thanks
