[APP] ProxyDroid Setup Help - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me setup proxydroid on my Samsung S3 (i9300), it's running Android 4.3 and is rooted.
The proxy I am trying to connect to is Host='bp1bakpa001.bp.com' Port='80' and I have a user name and password as well.
I have tried setting it up with the following settings in proxydroid: -
Host: bp1bakpa001.bp.com
Port: 80
Proxy Type: HTTP (Also tried HTTPS)
Enable Authentication TICKED
User: My username
Password: My password
Global Proxy: TICKED
Everything else is as default when installed. I know my phone can get the internet through this proxy as I have had it working with Sandroproxy but it doesn't work all the time and I'm told proxydroid is better. For Sandroproxy I had to put 'localhost' and '8008' in the phones wifi settings (wifi>connected network>Modify network config).Do I need to do something similar for proxydroid?
Any ideas where I'm going wrong?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Did you ever resolve your issue?

I used the generic 2.1 since there is no USA version out yet.
Edit: after hours of banging my head it turns out ATT has the worst mms size limit of 600k. T-mobile and others are at 1 mb. That was the mms issue.

Bell Network and Telstra SBF. (How to get Data Working)

Flashing this I've come across this problem with the "no internet service." or "Failed to connect to internet."
Simple steps to fix this:
Go to:
Settings>Wireless & Network Settings>Network Settings>Access Point Names.
Now input the following.
Name: Bell
APN: pda.bell.ca
Proxy: web.wireless.bell.ca
Port: 80

MMSC: http://ms.bell.ca/mms/wapenc

AGAIN, I live in Ontario (Toronto Area) This got my Bell data for internet to work with the Telstra SBF.
Don't know how its the same all around Canada.
If it's Bell it'll work. If it's another carrier the settingd are slightly different. Just google "your carrier's name+apn settings". Ex. ROGERS+APN SETTINGS, and there you go.
Its always nice to post this information here.
Not saying its hard to find. Just giving a helping hand to a fellow Bell users.
This never works for me. is there anything you have to do after putting in these settings?
like restart the phone maybe?
Hi, I don't know if this is information everyone knows, but I download APN Backup & Restore from the market. I backup the APN's I currently have, copy it to my pc (incase the SD card gets erased), then once i flash my new sbf I download APN backup and Restore again and restore my old APN list. It worked with my hero so I figured it would work here and it did.
If this is information everyone already has please ignore it, but I hope it helps.

HTC Touch Pro 2 radio not working

Hi,
I just updated my wm 6.5 to android Gingerbread 2.3.7, but I have no internet 3G signal, what could be the problem?
On the same note:
1) How do I update the profile? I do not see an option anywhere in the settings.
2) How do you load a radio rom - I'm guessing this is something that is causing my internet issue.
Thank you, any help would be appreciated!

if you didnt flash a different radio version to your phone, then your radio is working just fine. the problem is that the custom rom that you flashed to your device isnt configured with your carriers 'apn' settings. its been a while since i played with the gingerbread settings but iirc it should be under your settings>wireless & networks>mobile networks>and you should see something that says apn or access point names or simmilar. click that and you will need to enter the settings for your carrier. tmobile or att is likely what youre on. if not you can google the settings for the apn for your specific carrier.

Hi Haxin,
Thank you for your response. I am with Sprint. I just checked with Sprint, and they informed me that they do not use APN setting (all are left blank). Anyone else knows how I can just flash the radio for the htc touch pro2 android GB2.3.7? Not sure if operating system makes a differerence what you can update on the radio ROM. Also, I'm curious why the PRL update isn't included in the Android settings? Thanks!

[Q] Samsung illusion MMS Provisioning

I have been attempting to access the following MMS Settings on the Samsung illusion...
MMSC Domain
UAProf
MMS User Agent
So far i have not been able to access these, I have tried the following
MMS Provisioning menu on the handset - Requires a lock code which is normally model + mms (110667) is not working. Also tried spc, 000000, and the proclaim model number.
VPST - I believe that the NV portion of VPST will allow me to access this, but i have been unable to connect my device properly. I have been able to connect to ETS, but when i use the VPST the VIA hub software will never link the session to the device that it has detected.
Does anyone have any experience with modifying these setting that might know something I could be missing?

(Tutorial) Make your Verizon S4 fully functional on T-Mobile network

Looks like lots of people are still having issues with T-Mobile Data and/or Outgoing SMS so I hope this helps. If I'm posting improperly I apologize.
1. Obtain root!
2. Open your apn settings(settings-->more networks-->mobile networks-->apn settings) create a new apn with the following properties
Name: T-Mobile
APN: fast.t-mobile.com
Proxy: blank
Username: blank
Password: blank
Server: blank
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc

MMS Port: blank
MMC: 310
MNC: 260
Authentication type: not set
APN Type: Default,supl,mms
APN Protocol: IPV4/IPV6
(leave all other settings default)
3. Press the menu button to save, press back and select the new apn.
4. Open Advanced signal status app(linked below) and click additional info(if you get an error install the supersu.apk, also linked below) then try again.
5. Open phone information (option 1) and change the SMSC number to +12063130004 and change network mode to GSM auto(prl) click update.
6. Open the dialer(like you're going to make a call) tap the menu button and select "Call Settings", and then "Voicemail Settings". In the text field that pops up enter +18056377243.

What ROM are you using? Some variant of stock?
I'm having calling issues in the various CM versions I've tried.
edit - the GSM version of the GPE ROM works fine though. Flashed it with Danvdh's VZ kernel.
Originally on stock of1 but just flashed stang5litre but the method worked on both.
So I have to root to get MMS on to get the VZW S4 to work on T-Mobile correct?
So if I follow this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-verizon/general/samsung-s4-i545-verizon-of1-root-t3254434
I should be able to jump right in to your guide?

Yes sir!
I get a screen which says "Device Locked". the message goes on to explain this is likely because the phone has been locked down by manufacturer (carrier?) and even rooted devices can have problems due to SELinux restrictions.

If you see that message it's because the su binary is not high enough. Install the apk in the same folder that is linked in the OP, open supersu and update if needed then try again after rebooting.
Thanks. I got it to work. Looks like the SMSC number needs to be re-entered after each reboot and texting doesn't work in LTE mode, but looks easy enough to toggle back and forth when necessary.

Glad it's working for you. I haven't experienced the rebooting problem though. Do you have any other network apps that may be auto setting the smsc number at boot?

Yeah I have the same problem of having to re-enter the SMSC number after every reboot too and I'm not sure of the culprit. Would love to know if there is a way to permanently change this so I don't have to fiddle with it every time

Check under your mobile network settings, make sure network mode isn't set to global. It should say gsm/umts. You may want to re apply settings after changing modes. I noticed the global setting screwed up my tmobile settings so hopefully it's related to your issues.(fingers crossed)

I followed your guide for my dad's verizon s4 but I am running into some problems.
I rooted it following the root guide linked earlier in this thread and root is successful. SuperSu is installed and root checker verified.
However, in my APN settings, under APN Type, i have to manually type in "Internet+MMS", and the under APN Protocol, the only choices are ipv4, ipv6, ipv4/ipv6.
Also, when I open the advanced signal status app, do i select the LTE/GSM (PRL), is that what you meant?
edit: even just selecting GSM auto (prl), i still cant get 3g, 4g, or LTE. Only edge.

Having to manually enter your apn type is normal. I have "internet, mms, supl" typed into mine. The problem you are having with the app being locked is because your version of the su binary isn't correct. Install the supersu app that is included in the OP. Before doing anything else you will need to open the newly installed supersu app and allow the binary to update. After it has updated immediately reboot and it should no longer be locked. Also back under the APN settings, don't mess with the ipv4/ipv6 settings. Just leave them at default.
When I get to APN protocol, it's not giving me the option "WAP 2.0".... Only IPv4, IPv6, and then IPv4/IPv6.
Also not giving me the option to save the newly created APN. What to do next?

Sorry about the APN, I copied it but didn't proof read.
I have mine set to IPV4/IPV6. To save the APN you need to press the menu key then select save.

At the bottom of the tutorial is a link to a google drive folder with two apk files. Download them and open them on your phone to start the install. After installing "supersu.apk" click open and accept the upgrade, click normal when asked what method to use then reboot when it prompts. The lock will be gone.

Great, thanks alot man that actually worked perfectly. Another question though... so in order to do what we just did, You have to have absolute root access to your phone right? i opened a terminal emulator app and notice that i still have the dollar sign on the command line. But when i run "su", it has the hash symbol which i'm assuming means i'm root now or at least have root privileges. Shouldn't i have had the hash symbol as soon as i started the emulator? does this mean my su binary is still not high enough?
