Hello everyone,
I have got dust problem on front camera in my amaze. :crying:
Does anyone have same issue? or had and fixed it?
Please help me.
I would say either try to blow it out with some compressed air or worst case scenario you'll have to take it appart and fix it that way
Harmfull!!!!

compressed air will do more harm than good it might harm the speaker.

I support Social-Darwinism on XDA, the less noobs, the better for us. LOL!
(Just kidding)
His best bet would be to take it apart and clean it, however he needs to make sure that his phone is airtight therefore dust can't go in.
dust?
Isn't it impossible to get dust inside the front lens unless you've taken the phone apart? If you haven't, are you certain it isn't something ON the lens?
No actually most of the asian amaze have this dust problem. I dont know why.

Long story short, new company doesn't allow cameras in their facilities and I'm having serious Thunderbolt withdrawals.
I was wondering if anybody had ever removed the cameras from their Thunderbolt and the phone still worked after the "surgery."
If you did, is there a specific procedure you would follow? I found this online: http://www.techrepublic.com/photos/...=47&tag=siu-container;photopaging#photopaging
But that guy is actually just tearing the phone apart. Is there a way to get to just the cameras without pulling the whole phone apart?

Go take a look at the FCC approval photos Adrynalyn posted... Not only will you be taking the phone apart, you'll be taking it apart to the BONE. I'm also pretty confident you'd destroy the phone in the process.
Curious... why would you even tell someone you've got the thing or show that it's got cameras on it, knowing the policy?
Jmc: I guarantee you're absolutely incorrect. There are many people who work in high security companies. There has to be at least one person who has done this.

Why do you think I would destroy the phone?
As for your other question, sometimes security will sweep the entire building/staff, just in case. In those instances, if you're caught with a cameraphone, you're getting fired.

I think you'd destroy the phone because that camera isn't just a simple surface mount device like the power or volume micro-switches. It's an entire 8MP camera in a VERY tiny box. To kinda give you an idea how those things are mass produced, a solder paste is applied sort of like one might silk screen a shirt. Then the individual components are placed in their correct locations. Finally, the entire thing is baked in an oven to melt the soldier paste and adhere the components. If you want to see what I'm talking about, go to Qualcomm's website and look at the physical interface for the Snapdragon chip. Assuming the cameras is mounted in a remotely similar way, you're going to destroy the device removing them. Additionally, the FFC also functions as both a brightness and proximity sensor. Removing it would have consequences that would be difficult to predict.

Would filling over it with some sort of hard/opaque/sticky/permanent adhesive substance suffice? Something like putting epoxy or something over the lens so it renders it no longer useful.

That might work for the rear camera, but the FFC needs to function correctly to control screen brightness and proximity.

I dont know about that. Very few android phones have a front facing camera and they function just fine. Besides you can manually adjust brightness. The proximity sensor also has nothing to do with the camera. It's located under the speaker for receiving calls near the LED.

I was wrong. You're right about the prox sensor. Still, the devices that lack the FFC use a light sensor instead. I'd go nuts trying to adjust the screen all the time. If it were completely removed, there's still no promise the screen would even light up.

Yeah that would be a pain, lol, but maybe he's desperate enough he doesn't care. He would obviously be addicted to his phone way more than I would be if so

Well, it's stuff like this that's the reason RIM still builds their top tier BlackBerrys with and without cameras.
Maybe this is too simple but how about just leave your phone in your car?

Just a suggestion to the OP, there's been others that have asked the same question before. Might try looking through those http://www.google.com/search?client...ndroid+phone&sourceid=opera&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8 for different solutions.
Yeah, I've been doing that (leaving phone in car), but I'm getting bored of the playlists on my ipod and would like to spice it up with Pandora.
Also, I would like to be able to receive emergency calls/texts from my family.
I have searched Google, which is how I got that first link with the teardown. If you guys think it's unwise to take out the cameras after looking at that, please say so. If you're making assumptions about the necessity of the cameras, take a look at the link.

Functionality aside, simply how that big one on the rear is mounted would dissuade me.

It's your phone, but I wouldn't mess with it unless I knew what I were doing with it.
Remove the camera apps, you can't take a picture with it if the application to take it has been removed. (i'm sure the company won't believe it, but it is a solution)

If only it were that simple. I didn't believe it at first, but people get fired for having camera capable phones even if they don't have a battery in or near the phone. They're really strict on security.
Go to Wal-Mart & get a cheap Go Phone and some mins . If it has a camera , destroy that one .
Is this a common issue with these phones? I don't use the front camera often, but it's driving me insane to see a mountain of dust between the lens and front glass. How the hell did it even get there? I've had this phone for less than two weeks, bought it brand-new at the store, haven't dropped it, not a single scratch or problem so far, besides all this damned dust.

You two aren't the only ones.I'm going crazy here especially when it comes to face unlock.I'd really appreciate if someone can come up with a solution as for now I don't see any way around it except opening the phone (risky) or using compressed air.

I tried compressed air, didn't work. Only thing it managed to do was make my ear piece speaker sound like it's getting ready to blow up when I turn it up.
I read that it's a design flaw. Oh well. I doubt I'll use face unlock when I go ICS, or video calling. All of my friends Facetime, and I lost my iTouch. Ill just deal with it, I don't want to send this one in (I have insurance with T-Mobile) and have to root again, then end up with more dust.

Compressed air seems to work after a while, have to take your time.
hi there!
im new here, and REALLY apperciate your help

i've attached the images to this post, although the site zipped them but still the diffrence is very disnictive.
my device is updated to the latest android version and the lens isnt cover with dirt or anything,
also it wasnt allways like that- but im not sure when the problem started.
the problem is much much worse when i cativate the flash. its like the phone forgot how to calculate and spread the light...
thanks for your help!!
Are you sure there isn't any dust inside the camera cover glass? Cause I had a similar problem and it was due to the dust entering from head phone Jack to my camera space.

hi! i only checked the outside of the lens...how can i check the inside cover? do i have to take apart the phone?
thanks
No no. Just look through the outer cover. Do you see the lens to be clean or does some dust blur your lens of the camera.

well, agian its hard to tell but it does looks like mine is less clean.
what should i do?
You gotta open it and clean it yourself or go to a service centre. I prefer service centre though. Cause this isn't a software problem. That's how it was for me. I guess it's the same for you.
Hello, I have the Z2 for two months and I noticed that maybe 40-50% of the surface of the camera has stains on it.
I've seen on the forum that some of you experience scratches on the camera, which means the oleophobic coating is wearing out, but this doesn't seem to be the case. Does the camera have a factory protective foil on it? I can't really tell. I'll come back with a photo.

Did u put your phone into water? maybe the water stains are there because the cameralens glass has a little leak?
I hope you post a pic soon so we can actually see whats the problem
I did put it in a swimming pool a few times, I'll post a photo as soon as I find another device to take a macro with it.
Erm. I think this normal. Mine also hv that stain problem before. The reason is maybe that water was abit cold.. Dont worry that stain will be removed by itself, if not try put your device with the rice.
Hard to focus macros with an Iphone 6, but those should do the job

This is the antireflection coating.Almost every phone has it and also almost every new phone suffer from that issue.Wipe it out with some gel/toothpaste/water.
I've heard of it, but I didn't think it happens to new phones as well. Will the quality of the photos decrease?
i have exactly the same problem, but your's is worse than mine :/ i'm afraid that removing UAV will effect my pictures quality

I put it in a swimming pool in the winter, maybe that didn't help, and the chlorine in the water as well. I still have a warranty for 20-21 months, so I'm thinking of sending it in to see if it's covered, doesn't seem like something that should happen so fast to me. Does anybody know what's Sony's policy? Do they replace the whole phone? I'm worried of the phone not being waterproof if they open it to replace some parts.

I removed it after my photo become blurry due to scratches on the coating. I believe its better to remove it if there are scratches on it, and photo become blurry. The image quality should be the same on normal use, but a bit worse under bright light

Hey! Looking into getting the OPPO Find X soon. I know the phone isn't IP rated but has anyone had any problems with the phone after it's been exposed to water/dust or sand. I live in England so obviously it rains a lot and wonder if using it on the rain has damaged it for anyone. Along with that, I go on holiday a lot to beaches and wonder if a single grain of sand getting in has damaged anyone's.
Thanks!
Hi there! May I know how do you take care of your Oppo Find X? How do you get about (clean) with the dust accumulating on camera? Thank you for answering.
I have not had any issue with dust, etc. But I do open the camera infrequently. I got rid of the face scan security option so it doesn't open constantly.
That being said. I could definitely see sand being problematic.
Hey! I haven't got it yet but I am planning on cleaning it with a microfiber cloth atleast once a day (especially around the camera) and I will have a case on that cuts off around the camera (obviously since it moves lol).
