got all the way to step 7 of method two from this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476 and ran UpTestEX_mod2_marwin only to get a pop up please update R&D test tools".
I know the regular LG R&D doesn't let me revert from kitkat (have tried 5 times), so does anyone know where I can actually get a current R&D mod. Have googled every way I could think of and as I started trying to get this T-Mobile LG G2 re-rooted 14 hours ago, I'm burnt and really need some help.
Thanks in advance
did you reed instructions in the file?
does the script complete.
anyways reboot, add manually the url to hostfile
:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\host
save without txt extension (as all files).
follow instructions again, then it should launch
after manually remove line from hosts again.
that worked for me
also firwall should allow https file that virusscanner may mark as virus.

yes, I read the instructions, as I said I was up to #7 and that's where the Marwin file will not go through.

I really hate when people scold people about being in the right forum when they actual are.
I've posted a general G2 question in the General G2 forum.
And this question had nothing to do with the LGMOBILEAX file (which I already substituted). It was about the LG R&D not working on an LG G2 which I posted in the LG forum.
Less time acting like a parent, more time reading the post before you offer no help.
yeah bro a question is q&a section
but did you try my suggestions? only read you comment on reading about instructions

It's right there in VERY FIRST POST in the thread indicated to you! I will be surprised and shocked if you couldn't find it!!
However, in case you really struggled, here is the WHOLE bit copied and pasted from that thread's first post.
Now to run Android properly in your phone !
1.Download any of the builds we have around here.
2.Do backup on your sdcard or if you have additional one use this one.
3.Extract the file with android in your sdcard.
4. Check all the files are inside (sdcard/Android/AndroidApps"folder", media"folder",root"folder",clrcad"file",rootfs"fil e",startup"file",system"file",zImage"file",init rd" file")
5. If you want you can take everything from Android folder and pest it in root of the sdcard but you have to change default text (set cmdline"rel_path=Android change to set cmdline"rel_path=" or set cmdline"rel_path=sdcard") tri with one if is not working try with the other one. I thing the best is leave all files and folder in default Android folder and just copy this folder to your sdcard.
6.Check your zImage and Startup is for Toshidroid :OP (TG01).
7.First RUN haret without CLRCAD.
8.It take no more than10 min to run for the first time.
9. If it take more time RESTART the phone by pressing the POWER BUTTON for 10/20 sec it will restart and back to windows.
11.Try to do the same one more time.
12.If it still not booting to Android and you receive any error messages. Check your sdcard if there is space left in it. Check error message if it say that it can find some file or it can't create a data.
13. Delete everything from your sdcard and format it to fat32.
14.Start from the beginning.
15. If it still not booting to Android then check if you have all files and all set how it has to be.
16. Don't forget you can broke your phone. And we are not responsible for any damage you cause to your phone.
17.It is all up to you.
19. If I forget something sorry about just ask there are other memebers who will try to help you if they can.
20. Sorry for my English mistakes. I'm trying to fix them. :OP
Thanks to all people who try their best to make that possible: Markinus, Arash18k,Bally3,Endrix,Nyl,Arnookie and all other.
Please don't feel bad or offended by any of our posts, but I think the response to you was correct at beginning and we all at XDA do appreciate that the number of threads are kept to minimum and you follow the rule of 'Search before asking' as this keeps it easy for moderators as well as other new members or current members to find something they are looking for in a single thread rather than 10 different threads! Imagine if every new member started opening a new thread!
when it is finished you can put in the NAND as the HD2?
"The Over-The-Air update packages used by the Dell Streak come encrypted. During the OTA installation process, the Streak downloads the encrypted pkg from the Dell OTA server, reboots into recovery mode, decrypts the update pkg, then finally applies the update. The decrypted update zip is similar to standard Android update zips. After the update process, the decrypted pkg is left on the root of the SD card."
These are instructions from the updates page. The problem is that they don't go into enough detail. Downloading from the link gets me an mbn file, which I have never heard of. What do I do with it? Do I need a utility to extract it so I can then put it on the phone or do I put it on the phone as is? If the phone is not "rooted", where should it go?
I ask because my phone is 1.6 from AT&T and checking for updates tells me that it is up to date so this appears to be my only option.
Those aren't the instructions from the updates page, they are from the XDA wiki page
To download an update pkg form that page click on the number of the package in the first column or the text PKG in the fourth column.
You will get more coherent help if you don't start multiple threads.

I don't have a clue what a "Wiki page" is. Going back and looking, the word shows up once on the entire page as a link to "Wiki Admins".
The page is a list of available updates. To me, that's an update page.
The other thread pointed me to that page, which brought up a whole new question that I thought other newbs might like to know the answer to as well.
A question/answer they might not see if it is buried in one more "how do I update" thread, so I gave it its own thread so it stood out better.
Meanwhile, I still don't know for sure what an mbn file is. All I can find is that it is some kind of compressed file, sort of like a .bin but that doesn't tell me what to do with it.
That's straight off the wiki page like he said, i know seeing as i'm the one that wrote that line. If you scrolled down it's written in the ROMs section
mbn files are the device firmwares of snapdragon type processors/chipsets, most users dont need to deal with these
if you want to update there are dozens of threads on the general section sub-forum
im a noob at hacking etc. and i have a few questions if anyone is able to help at all that would be great. I just got a Dropad A8T. I was able to Root it with GINGERBREAK but am still having some problems with it. I have a very limited market, low hundreds, and im sure thats because its from China. I learned how to edit the files so it will use all apps but after each reboot it always goes back to the original file not the edited. there are a few firmware links ive found around the net but they are on a Chinese website and google translate only goes so far and i can't seem to find a good firmware when i actually find one.
so i guess my questions are, how can i fully open the market and keep it open, and where can i get a new firmware? sorry if these have been asked before i searched for them but didnt find anything helpful.
I am presently using 4.0.3 on my Dropad A8T.
It was written (modded?) by a Russian group.
<link sent in private message due to being a noob and being unable to post external links>
I do not speak Russian but you select the big red button on the right to download it.
The steps to install it can be found elsewhere. I wont give you them because I would hate to miss something and mess you up.
Here is the link of where I discovered a lot of info.
<link sent in private message due to being a noob and being unable to post external links>
I hope this helps.

Just do exactly what it says. In the app go through the menus at the top of the app window and find the B2C Client setup. Run it.

"I was having similar problems a while ago. Delete all the flash stuff and extract rootflash folder to C:\Rootflash I was trying with the flash stuff in one folder and then the https folder in another and I kept getting the problem you describe. After you've done this go to C:\Programdata and delete the LG folder completely. Restart. Start small server from C:\Rootflash\https as administrator. Start the flashing program again. Tools>Install b2capp. After this it should go as planned" -tablechair
I QUOTED WHAT TABLECHAIR DID AND IT HELPED ME ADVANCE IN THE ROOTING PROCESS AFTER THAT FOLLOW THE NEXT STEP OF CMAHENDRAS ONE THING FOR SURE ONCE YOU DELETE THAT FOLDER ITS GOING TO REAPEAR ONCE AGAIN WHEN YOU PRESS TOOLS>INSTALL B2CAPP WHICH IS GOING TO INSTALL SOME STUFF THAT WASNT THERE BEFORE AND BECAUSE OF THE YOU ARE UNABLE TO ADVANCE TO INSTALL THE KDZ FILE.
ONCE YOU ARE ABLE TO ADVANCE AND FOLLOW THE STEPS OF FLASHING THE KDZ AS IN THE PICTURE OF THE TUTORIAL FROM CMAHENDRA YOU WILL SEE A NEW WINDOW WHERE THE LG UPDATE TOOL IS GOING TO "DOWNLOAD FROM THE SERVER " YOU ARE GOING TO OPEN C:\ProgramData\LGMOBILEAX\Phone ONCE YOU SEE THAT THERES SEVERAL BIN FILES OF DIFFERENT NUMBERS SHOWING UP AND YOU SEE THE BIN(6) THAT IS THE ONE THAT YOU DOWNLOADED YOU SIMPLE COPY THE DOWNLOADED BIN AND PASTE IT THERE A WINDOW WILL SHOW UP IF YOU WANT TO CONTINUE TO REPLACE THE ONE THAT IS IN THERE ONE IT IS REPLACED JUST SIT AND RELAX AND WAIT UNTIL THE PROGRAM FINISHES THE PROCESS AND LET IT REBOOT THE PHONE AND WAIT UNTIL IT REACHES 100%.
got it working after an hour of torture.. started praying to God... nd it worked thanks for the info.. hope it helps people who get stuck at this step and search it online...
your welcome its good that it worked for you as well, its thanks to tablechair that helped me in this portion of the process of rooting where i was stuck. enjoy your rooted for as i am
this is kinda where im stuck i guess i can't even get small server to install at all i try to do the run it and it says not found
There is no installer for shttps just right click the exe and run as admin.

i dont see the exe besides "uninst".
If you are trying to find the exe file it should be under
RootFlash >> shttps >> http
where http is the name of the application (it will show up as an '.exe' if you have setting to view file extensions on)

Something got messed up when you extracted the archive. Download and extract again.
Another fix for this problem:
Change the server root folder of shttps to the correct directory. If you have the http.exe in D:\RootFlash\shttps then your correct server root directory is:
D:\RootFlash\shttps\www\
If this directory is wrong, the LG Tool can't find the necessary files on the HTTP Server and will abort the flashing process.

Your anitvirus is blocking the program and quarantining it. You need to temporarily disable antivirua so it will allow the program to be extracted.trust me i was wondering the same thing for almost an hour.

+1 good. Even I Suggested this someone before. Many pals these days going in wrong directions instead of checking basic things.
INSTALLING B2C OR ANYTHING SUCH CRAP IS NOT REQUIRED. NOT EVEN RUNNING WINDOWS ENBLER. I added it just for satisfaction of few.
Not only pc antivirus, If there is LOOKOUT anti-virus in phone, u need to uninstall or disable it also.

I use the "preview post" button a lot when experimenting, and to ensure that everything is the way that I expect, and I suggest the same.
P.S. Always from a desktop. I don't go to such effort when working from the device.
