As the title says, I'm looking for a ROM that is KK based, but also supports exFAT formatted MicroSD Cards. I was on OmniROM and CyanogenMod, and I like the ROMs, but I'm not sure if they support exFAT formatted MicroSD cards or not. I know they don't support ext4 formatted SD cards well, which is why I temporarily rolled back to a 4.3 Sammy based ROM. I prefer KK, but I also don't want to have to keep my MicroSD card formatted in FAT32 if I don't have to.
exFAT support on omnirom via boeffla kernel
Recently, I was exploring OmniROM 4.4.2 and was quite amazed that i could not see my files on a 64GB exfat formatted sd card... Though, in CWM, my files were definitely there, but the ROM could not see them.
I fixed this by flashing the amazing boeffla kernel and set the exfat module to ON in boeffla config 2 app. the files on the SD card were immediately visible. i did not have success with googy max 2 kernel, though... boeffla did the job.
i had also temasek ROM CM11 4.4.2 recently and the rom definitely supports exfat, you can use whatever kernel u want.

Thanks. Temasek's CM11 seems to be working fine for accessing my exFAT partitioned card. Is there a way to have Temasek auto-update, (I'm a fan of running the latest and greatest), or do I have to manually update it? I don't see an option for system updates.
no auto update, just manual

The latest doesnt always mean better. there is always experimenting involved and the new code can contain bugs. like for example a user has recently reported that he has a sudden battery drain on the newest V58 and did not have this behaviour on V57. or - someone else reported an unstable LED notification. i had this issue too. or - the newer ROM could be without a feature you liked. (halo was gone after several releases...).
you can read about newest experiences and findings here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...m11-temaseks-unofficial-build-t2681344/page43
also, this was an old thread, you will find tons of valuable formation there:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/cm11-temaseks-unofficial-build-v30-t1797109
this rom doesnt have an auto update, you have to use it this way:
HOW TO INSTALL
Latest official CWM recommended but not required.
Read this first -> CLICK ME
1st Time Installing
Download the zip
Download Gapps
WIPE DATA/FACTORY RESET
Install the update zip from recovery
Install gapps
Reboot
Already installed CM11.0
Download the zip
Install the update zip from recovery
Reflash gapps (if you are using pa gapps)
Reboot
i experienced problems while dirty flashing, i steped from V50 to V56 and the ROM was misbehaving. so from there on, i use cache / dalvik cache reset after EACH mentioned dirtyflashing step (rom flash, clean both, then gapps flash, clean both).

Hi all,
I recently rooted my phone so I could install a custom ROM. I´m new with android and also with rooting. After reading a lot of articles about rooting and flashing a custom ROM, I decided to give it a chance. Because the CyanogenMod is very populair, I decided to flash this ROM. I rooted my phone with Odin adding the Siyah Kernel. This worked and I followed the manual on the CyanogenMod Wiki for I9100. I flashed CM10 with ClockworkMod Recovery. Everything went fine and I saw the great interface, which is a lot better than touchwiz.
But I could't use the camera app: No external storage available. A 16GB SD card is inside. It appears CM can't mount the SD. I also saw the internal storage: 1.97GB. But the internal storage has to be a lot more than that.
I might think that it has something to do with the encryption I did within Touchwiz. I haven't decrypted the file system before flashing the ROM...
Anything I can do?
Update: I went back to the stock ROM, and could acces the internal storage and SD card. Then flashed CM10 again, and everything was working well!!

Same Problem here, I update from CM 9 to CM 10 and I can't use Camera and It seemd than there is no internal SDCard
Frank
I am too having this issue ever since moving to custom ROMs. Its not the ROM as its happened on RR and RB ROMs.
I find it happens when the phone crashes and needs to be rebooted by holding the power button down.
Sometime after a few restarts I am then able to get the internal storage to mount, other times I need to turn the phone off and leave the battery out for a while but its just happened and nothing I am doing is working.
I really hope someone can help.
Try dori kernel. Should Mount OK custom is either 8.xx or 9.xx
I am using Dori (9.33). Having said that it never used to be as much of a problem when I used to run Siyah.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
Try 9.32 I use 8.32 and have swapped ROM this week about 7-8 times and have no problems.
I used to have Cyanognenmod 10.1.3 installed on my phone, then I wanted to install CM 11. I figured out I had to update safestrap first - from v3.11 to v3.65.
After I updated safestrap, I was able to install the CM 11 and the 4.3.0 Gapps, because the KitKat 4.4 Gapps version did not install when I tried it. But ever since I'm using CM 11, I've been having problems with baterry level (it doesn't appear to update unless I reboot my phone) and and SD card (SD card is blank or has unsupported filesystem) considering I can still save stuff on it.
Did I do something wrong? What should I do to solve it?
Up
I flashed the last nightly and instead of using the KK 4.4.2 Gapps (it didn't install) I went with 4.4.
I'm calibrating the battery using an application from Play Store, after it's done I'll update about the results.
The SD Card problem persists, my Razr won't recognize it, when I open "storage/sdcard1" file, there is only "/Android" data file on it, but when I open my SD Card on desktop with SD adapter it shows everything (Music, Images, Video, etc.). The SD format is already FAT32.
So everytime i have tried to install AOSP rom or CM, my SD-card cant be found, but when i install.
Now i use Archidroid, and it cant find my SD-Card. When i used Neatrom "http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/rom-neatromlite-themed-aroma-mods-t2060403" The first one, then it found my SD-card.
Why does this happand, and how can i fix it?
Install sd card fix from play store
Known problem with kit kat
Maybe the fix hasn't been implemented yet in the latest commits in cm or omni
Press thanx if i helped you in anyway...
No, that did not work either. I have tried to format my sd-card to exFat and Fat32. Why oh Why does this happend!

Without the tools and guides created by them my nook would be still in bootloop or with the stock B&N soft (eww)
My nook crashed after a TWRP recovery flash gone wrong (TWRP Manager), so i had to flash repart.img (stock B&N).
After that my nook was alive again but without touch (multitouch firmware installed).
Below it´s how i went from stock to CM11, but i'm not responsible for any bricked nooks so...
1.Using a disk partition tool, s create a primary FAT32 partition, and set it as active on the MicroSD that you will use to boot, and remember that the card will be wiped so don´t use your mom´s camera card.
2. A. Download (attached to this post) "NT-TWRP-KK-SD.zip" and extract all the files to the root of your SDCard.
B. flashable_TWRP_2.6.3.1.zip @ https://www.mediafire.com/folder/xjwc1a482a6ll/Nook_Tablet
C. CM11 http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=acclaim
D. Gapps http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/themes-apps/standard-minimal-gapps-t2012857 or
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Google_Apps
The files in step 2A MUST be on the card root, B to D can be inside a folder but it´s not needed
3. Eject the card from your computer, and install it in your nook. Power it up.
4. It will boot and show the box screen then straight to TWRP 2.7.1.0.
In TWRP go to WIPE -> Advanced wipe -> Check all except Internal storage and Micro SDcard.
After it´s done wiping, go back to start screen and Install CM11, Gapps and last the flashable recovery.
Click reboot -> Power off
5. Remove SDcard from nook and power on.
If everything went correct you will see cyanoboot and after booting CyanogenMod.

Not sure if you can help with this but after following your instructions I find myself stuck. I have an 8 gb NT and can't seem to make the device boot with the formatted and loaded SD in the SD card slot on the device. I'm not sure why but it just won't boot while it's in there. The card is fine as I was using it before (It's a 4 gb sandisk). Any help would be appreciated.

Root?
I just finished updating my 16gb Nook Tablet with this guide, using the latest nightly CM11 build.
In the past, I thought CM builds are pre-rooted, but this isn't.
I rechecked my options in TWRP (bootable on an SD card) and CMW (installed on emmc)... I recall a brief moment where TWRP asked me about root access, but I don't recall where...
Can anyone point me in the right direction to establishing root?
Any input is appreciated.
(I suppose I could wipe and reflash if necessary as well)
** Self edit - Latest nightly (installed from CM update) established root.

So I am just coming into here wanting to root my 16GB Nook Tablet version 1.4.3. I have been looking around the forums for a bit and have not found a specific thread outlining what I need to do. Well most of them are old and I am not sure which ones to follow.
The first thing I need to do is establish root, but how exactly do I go about that. Most of the video tutorials are dead links. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks is an understatement!
In response to OP and idivorceyou:
I had a very similar situation myself. Read many/most of the other 10.x & 11 guides; all seemed to reference the same stuff. Could not get a custom card to work. Suspect that I had downloaded a bad .zip (or two). Found this guide and figured it was worth a shot. Card booted first try and everything worked as written.
Hope those looking for a quick solution find this post sooner than I did.
Has anyone successfully accomplished this installation on the 8GB Nook Tablet?
I've been having massive amounts of trouble getting mine to boot from the SD card. I'd like to give this a try if it will in fact work with both the 8 and 16GB NTs.
Cheers!

Thanks, digixmax! I know some things only work with the 16GB model and I didn't want to brick.
I'll get cracking on it.
So on a whim, I decided to try this guide to go completely CM11 on the Nook. Had a little trouble getting a bootable SD card, but worked that out. After the wipe, and then using TWRP to flash the nightly CM11 - it looked like it completed, but then gave an error saying it was unable to mount /bootdata. I repeated the flashing a couple of times and it still had that message. Flashing gapps and the flash TWRP gave me the same error message. But then after rebooting the device - it does boot to CM11 using the internal storage! It works OK, it seemed like it was freezing a lot and so I enabled Developer access, and then put a limit of "2" on background processes - that seemed to fix the freezing. But now, when installing some applications/games from the Google Play store, getting a message that I need an SDCard. I'm going to try putting in an SDCard later to see if that works...but wondering if we should have partitioned the internal storage? Its a 16GB nook, so maybe two partition with the last one being /DATA? Anyone run into this issue? Thanks.

This issue of dependency on external SD in CM11 has been reported and discussed on these forums (e.g., just search the Official NT CM11 thread).
You'd need to go back to 10.1 or 10.0 to be able to run any app without an external SD.

Just wanted to send out a thank you to everyone who continues to work on these relatively outdated devices. Although this thread is for CM11, I just loaded CM10.0 internally onto my wife's unused Nook Tablet (16 gig, v.1.4.3) as a gift for my retired father. I posted here because I used the TWRP boot files provided in this thread (NT-TWRP-KK-SD.zip), and was previously having problems getting booted correctly (trying CM11 and CM10). I also used the general steps in Digimax's 10.x guide (e.g. backing up the old system, using the older, flashable CWM 6.0.2.x and GApps for CM10.0), and Succulent's final, supposedly quite stable CM10.0 (12/31) build (also pulled from another thread, not the CM site). Given my father's and the tablet's age, I figured system stability was more important than anything else so went with CM10.0 instead of CM11. Everything appears to be running great, cat videos and all.
A few newbie notes relevant to this process (for probably CM11 and CM10). I could not get a bootable microSD card working using Digimax's guide (see the error mentioned in his note i.b, although files did not appear corrupted by examining file size). I wonder if it had to do with the large microSD card I used (32 gig) -- I could swear I remember reading that bigger cards have some issues -- or the additional boot.img file provided by Rpadula in his NT-TWRP-KK-SD.zip. When things did work for me, I had both set the partition size to 2 gb on the microSD card and used files in Rpadula's zip, so it is unclear what made the difference. I also ran into the mounting and zip installation error described above, but after allowing TWRP to grant me root access -- an option presented during restart after wiping -- and restarting the nook, the files installed fine (again, unclear whether or not root access or restarting made the difference).
Thanks again all!

For a noobie this was pretty straight forward for building the SDCard. I am in CM11 on my Nook Tablet! I am having one issue though and I don't know if this is the best place to ask - I am getting "Browser as stopped working" and "Google Account Manager has stopped working" anytime I try to login to my google account or even open the stock web browser. I have tried rebooting and wiping. I also did some digging and found this may be related to a webview issue and tried flashing a fix I found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50122471&postcount=2161 but still no luck. Can anyone help me get past this bug?

I used the advanced wipe in TWRM as described in OP. Could it be related to a bad GApps zip I grabbed? The link in OP was closed so I got it from somewhere else (using gapps-custom-pico-4.4zip). Not sure if that could affect the Browser too though. Also, after every package I installed I got "E:/Unable to mount '/bootdata'. This obviously didn't affect me getting CM11 on there, but just throwing some more info out there.
Edit: I did a full wipe and reinstalled without GApps and I can't test the Google Account Manager now but the Browser works. What GApps zip would you recommend for this build?

I'd suggest you try the Gapps at http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Google_Apps (the "small" version should suffice), the apps are a bit dated but after installation can be updated (via Google Playstore) to their most current version..

Hi!
I could not post this to the Development forum (new member so I'll try it here:
I've installed the DarkSense ROM 2.0.1 which is using a new kernel (extracted from AEROM v2). After fullwipe and install, the system cannot use the SD card anymore. At system start, it tells the SD card is damaged --> select "Portable Storage" and format SD card --> still shows as defect after format.
I've already tried to change filesystem to FAT, exFAT, EXT3, EXT4 using TWRP and reboot afterwards--> all show the same error.
I am using the following card: Kingston SDCA3/128 GB microSDXC (UHS-I U3)
I now flashed back Eragon ROM v2 and all is working well again with the SD card.
So question is: what is responsible for this behaviour? New kernel possibly? Anybody tried the new kernel (either AEROM v2 or DarkSense 2.0.1) with an SD card?
Cheerio!

Can you try the following for me please.
1. Flash my ROM, no need to reboot, just after you've flashed it go to TWRP backup settings and backup boot.img
2. Flash Eragon v2.0
3. Go to TWRP restore and restore boot.img
4. Reboot and test
If it is dodgy after that then its definitely the kernel, otherwise its the new system files from the 20160513 base that are causing the issues.
Cheers.

If it is dodgy after that then its definitely the kernel, otherwise its the new system files from the 20160513 base that are causing the issues.
Cheers.

I did the suggested procedure (with full wipe before installing first ROM DarkSense).
Result: SD card was recognized correctly and working.
So it seems it's the new system files...

OK thanks a lot for testing it out for me, I'll have a look and see what I can do
I have same issue with Darksense 2.0.1 and 128 GB MicroSD-Card from SanDisk UHS-I. SD Card worked fine for a while, but then the described error occurred and it says SD-Card is damaged. It started after i put some new files onto SD-Card (never had that problem with Eragon-ROMs).
Thx for checking that issue...

Different base used on the different ROM's, go back to 1.0.0 on my ROM if its a issue as a short fix for now whilst I look into it further.
@jonny: thx for fast reply and help with that great ROM. I currently do not use the phone as my 'default' phone so it's fine for playing around with the ROM. I will stay on the 2.0.1 and update to 2.1.0. Did you had time to update SD behaviour in 2.1.0 Version?

Not in 2.1.0 no - I think what I'm probably going to do is revert back to the older, but more stable 20160419 base in future versions.
Ok this seems to be a really intermittent issue, it just happened to me and I rebooted and it was fine again... this new base is causing both me and skeleton1911 no end of issues lol.
What I can do is continue the 1.x.x series of ROM's if you want until the base gets a bit more stable or until I hunt down which file(s) are causing the problems. For instance I can bring the new kernel and my fixed Xposed script over to the old base if its something you guys would be interested in, its not a lot of work so I don't mind.
Let me know what you think!
Cheers
Sounds good to me! Although I'm still waiting for my P9000 to arrive, probably tomorrow.
Seems like the better choice to continue with the older base for now, as the latest base isn't 100% reliable (yet).
Just my 2 cts though... ☺
I did a fresh install of your ROM, it didn't like the SD card, so I formatted it. I then copied some files across from the laptop. I then started getting the SD card corrupted messages. If I format, it just gives me the exact same message instantly.
I'm not sold on the new base, so would prefer the older base with the new kernel if that helps.
I'm hoping to get this phone up to standard (decent battery etc) and I can then sell my Sony Z5
I'm running Aerom V2 and don't have this issue. I have a Samsung SD card which was already formatted and it works fine. I've had Aerom on my phone for three days now without a problem?

I've seen reports on the Elephone forum of people having this issue with that ROM, you must be one of the lucky ones.

Yes please, Jonny.
I prefer v1.0, especially adaway!
Another bug I've noticed with the latest version is double texts being sent using messaging app. Not really a problem as I have unlimited plan...
Xposed is what I really want though.
Thanks for all your work
PS - getting SD card corrupt error too now
Hello Jonny
Can anything be done to the sd card problem that says every time she has a problem and need to format

I've answered that a few posts further up/on the last page, can't remember exactly where.
I'm working on it but slowly at the moment, spent the last few days revising for a 2 hour Java exam today, now revising for a 2 hour Maths exam on Wednesday.
Thank you
