HD2 boot problem - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have bought used HTC HD2, which I had to repair - classic touch problem (I haven't repaired it myself). What surprised me, after the phone returned to me, it has "T-mobile" glass, but it hasn't red "dismiss call" button... So everything says it is EU version...
I wanted to install WP7.8. The phone had HSPL 2.08 and some custom WM6.5 rom. I had done Task29 and installed Magldr 1.13 (with HD2 toolkit), then I have enabled last 24mb nand and cleared mbr sd card in magldr. Everything seemd to be fine. Then I had selected usb flasher and run DWI.exe of Pdaimatejam ROM on PC. It installed, but after "Reset Now" had appeared on the phone, it didn't reboot. :/ I have pulled out battery but phone got into bootloop. Than I have repeated tasks from Task29, now it rebooted itself but still bootloop.
So I have decided to return to WM6.5 and start again. I have downloaded that RUU: RUU_Leo_S_HTC_WWE_EastEurope_3.14.479.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship I have entered hspl, then run ruu on the computer, it installed successfully but the phone doesn't boot again (white bootscreen, and reboot) :/ . I have tried again, now error occurred during installing, luckily despite hspl error, I could install rom again, but bootloop again occurs...
What should I do now? :/ I am afraid of battery level...
After installing official RUU, HSPL has stayed, is that ok?

now i assume that you are in windows mobile, you still be able to charge while your phone off if you are in windows mobile mode.
1. How can you be sure if you're device is EU models?please re-HSPL your device with HSPL 4 and install Black LK find out how much is your ROM space, remeber that part of EU and t-mobile was almost the same.
2. Your bootloop problem could be because you've installed wrong ROM in to wrong Device OR due to MMC,to check it,after flasing windows mobile ROM try to reboot,if you got bootloop try to remove MMC than reboot (it works for me)
3.If you are trying to install Windows Phone and got the bootloop,it might be because of the MMC (class, brand, etc.) try to find more information regarding this in Windows Phone section.
Hope it helps

HD2 starts only in Bootloader - Help

Hello,
after a few months with my HD2 working right, yesterday my WinMo Crashed and I got difficulties to restart it. After some tries I was able to restart WinMo and the phone worked a short while. Then the same happened.
So I thought, it would be a good idea, to reflash my HD2. Therefore I used the flashaholics tool 1.1. Everything seemed to work fine, the Task 29 was finished, and afterwards Artmemis v24 was successfully flashed. All seemed well. But...
from then on when i start, my HD2 enters the bootloader and nothing else. I can do a hard-reset, Works! But restarts in Bootloader. I can do a reflash through USB and this works as usual. But on restart -> Bootloader. I can reflash it via SD. So I reflashed stock 1.66 ROM via SD card. Everythings works well -> Update Complete - UPDATE SUCCESS. But after restart? Of course... Bootloader.
If I reflash my Stock 1.66 ROM per SD, I have the official bootloader back installed. Thats ok. But I cant use HSPL 1.42 any more. Only HSPL 3 works. Then I have HSPL bootloader. But even then my HD2 always enters bootloader and does nothing more. Anything seems to work. With one exeption:
If I try to do a task 29 via flashaholics, the HD2 switches its screen to the HTC Logo, but the bar remains at 0%. And after a while my PC gives me error 262.
If I do a task 29 with mtty, then I get the following lines from mtty:
Format BINFS start
Fill RSVD information for block 497 to 530
CE start start block=530, total block=3566
TAG NOT FOUND !!! NOT CLEAR STORAGE !!!
Format BINFS end
And if I start my HD2 with the SD card in it, that contains the leoimg.nbh, then he automatically enters the menu, where I can press Voldown to cancel update or Power button to start update.
I have no way of coming to the white htc start screen. My HTC always enters the bootloader and thats it. And it is not a problem with the VolDown button.
Is this a hardware problem? Can I do something else? Has anyone an idea? Would be nice to hear some ideas...
Thanks in advance

Wrong radio version for the ROM you're flashing?
Was my thought too. But I can even install any radio version I want. Installation works flawless, then restart and... bootloader. Besides... if I install the 1.66 stockRom over the SD card, Bootloader, OS, RadioRom and everything else is set back to original. This always worked.. until yesterday. But thanks for your idea. Any other ideas?
The fact that the HD2 crashed a few times, before I tried to reflash it makes me wonder, if tehre was a error in the flash memory. And maybe I wasn`t able to reflash correctly, because there is an error within the memory? Can this be, what happened? Can I do a memory check on the phone?
Just a new idea...
thx

HELP
Hello,
I have got the same problem like Orsetti and agentemulder had.
Does anybody know how to solve it?
Fabian
Hello fabhoff,
in my case, the problem was indeed an error within the flashram. I sent the HD2 in and got a new one.
Greetings

Help!!! - new hd2 stuck at "loading..." while rom flash

My phone's boot loader says SPL 1.42.0000XE. I have not upgraded to any custom rom since I bought the phone in Feb this year.
I decided to do a hard reset since the screen was frozen and soft reset did no good.
Hard reset was successful, but after that it landed on white screen and would not proceed.
I read some articles and downloaded a stock rom RUU_signed_0409.nbh from one of the links. I even copied it to the 8gb sd card that came with my phone. It does say that it is formatted as FAT 32. I renamed the file as leoimg.nbh, reset the phone and pressed the vol down key.
Now it shows the boot loader screen, then says "loading..." forever.
Please help! - By the way, I could never find a WWE version of 1.42.0000 SPL link to download.
i've got the same prob right now.
~ updated my phone with HSPL3 < all went well and finished OK
Phone is rebooting and working
~ now I want to try a different ROM and while installing it via
Active Sync it's giving an USB Error or this LOADING...
When trying to put the new ROM onto the SD Card with leoimg.nbh
it starts with LOADING...
....
I can reboot via removing battery and after that the phone boots up normal.
It's also working. But i can't do any flashes anymore.

Yes; using the right stock ROM (the one from your aria)
or using GoldCard technique.
Put the HD2 into bootloader and then connect via usb. Run the flash file. This will only work if you are using a rom that your carrier supports as you have said you don't have HSPL...
have you solved the problem?
I cant solve this problem either, i´ve been looking for information on the internet the whole day.
Yesterday, i tried to flash my htc hd2 following a tutorial, and I used HSPL3(although I dont know if it really work, because my htc still says 2.08.0000 without the hspl, can somebody clarify this for me, please?), and after that I tried MTTY(Here starts my problem) just as the tutorial says, and then my htc restart, so I tried to flash it via the MicroSD card, but it stays stuck on a white screen which says "loading...", after that I tried to turn it up without the bootloader, but it stayed stuck on the logo screen.
Could somebody please help me???
I would really appreciate it.

Two things I have learn;
If you install stock ROM over SD it will remove your HSPL.
And if you see 2.08.0000 spl on your bootscreen than the installation of HSPL was unsuccessful.
OMG...!
Thanks for the reply...
Soo what do you think i can do?

Hi,
Did you manage to fix the issue? Is your phone a branded one? The best way to go about is to find the stock ROM for your device and then flash it using the SD card method. This will update your ROM and SLP to stock. From there, you should be able to install HSPL and any custom ROMs.

[Q] Rom upadting special error

Hi there,
I have some problems, which I cant solve using your forum.
So Im posting this.
Yesterday my Leo shut down and I couldnt turn on it. Today I've trided Hard Reset, but nothing was made. i can turn my phone on with white screen only. So i decided to reinstal ROM. I'v set up the bootloader and start installing oryginal ROM for HTC. And the installation is going to 1 % and then the phone stops instalation and turns on with white screen only.
What an I doing wrong?
looking for original firmware for your phone on htc.com, using the S / N
I have the same problem !!!
I've tried original from htc site, still the same.
If its important, when I'm installing, on the instalation Window, where should be written the current wersion of my soft, there's norlng, just empty place.
maybe I should do something like formating my htc or instal something other than ROM?
thx for help!
you could try to flash with sspl. maybe you have installed the 3.14 rom and removed the hspl.

1.try task 29(find on xda) and after that installing HSPL3.
2.after this flash any rom (including stock but i wouldn't recommend newest as we don't have newest hspl and you'll be stuck with, or you will have very small ram(50mb) if you keep older one)
I can't run task 29 from bootloader, the same problem as with ROM, it stops on 0%.
maybe some advices how to run task 29 on bootloader, maybe im doind sth wrong?
I think we have the same problems,
aktiv sync dont work, bootloader modus works,
cant find any solution in the forums,
i have tried flashing from pc and from sd card, no success
what about couple of hard resets on boot(hold down volume buttons) and perhaps try another computer or USB cable-if your friend has one newer etc...
i know from the times i had Omnia that RUU can have probs with computer also.
And have a look at this could help..
i tried all of your tipps but nothing works.
Hspl 2 and 3 do not work.
Here my bootloader information:
PB81100 HX-BC
SPL-1.42.HSPL XE
0x05
CotullaHSPL 0x30
Please help!
Did you update your ROM or Radio version? I read that white screen occurs due to incompatible Radio version.
Anyways, I screwed up my OS today by installing 'Gaz Touch Tools' and on reboot my phone showed some file was missing.. nothing was working.. phone wasn't responding well. couldn't even connect via activesync.. Right now installing Official ROM using MicroSD card.
Update in progress..
RADIO_V2 - OK
RCUST - OK
BOOTLOADER - OK
SPLASH1 - OK
OS -
CONFIGDATA -
EXTROM -
^ as the progress bar increases, the blank spaces change to OK
What I did - Formatted the MicroSD using FAT32, extracted the RUU_signed.nbh from the exe downloaded from HTC website and renamed it to LEOIMG.nbh and copied it on MicroSD card. Inserted card properly in device, started device by holding volume down button. Voila!
Update: Done installing, working fine!
Got the same problem with mine straight out if the box. SPL-1.42.0000
Charging light not working. Sometimes it goes in to bootloader when powering on and sometimes white screen with logo. I'm not impressed!

[Q] Bricked Trying to Revert to Stock WinMo

I think I may have bricked my OG HD2 (T8585) while trying to undo everything I had done to it, which was HSPL, MAGLDR and a NAND Android ROM.
It all started when I first tried to flash Kingdom's Sense 3.0 Gingerbread ROM. It told me to create a 340MB partition using HD2 Toolkit which I did. I then flashed the ROM as per the instructions, but it kept getting stuck on the boot logo so I decided to go back all the way to stock WinMo.
I downloaded a stock 1.66 ROM from HTC's website, tried to flash it via USB which failed because I obviously have no ActiveSync in Android. So I loaded the image onto my SD card and tried to flash by holding Vol Down and Power.
That was the first sign of trouble, about 1/10th during upgrade process it gave me some errors and rebooted to a black screen with a silver warning triangle.
Trying to go back into bootloader, I got the message about "upgrade ROM code error."
Since it had reverted back to SPL 1.42 I tried to reflash HSPL2 through USB, which worked fine, got the "We bricked it " message and everything. But then I tried to install MAGLDR and nothing, it fails even though it recognizes the USB connection.
So what can I do? On the one hand my device can accept and load HSPL2 and my computer is recogonizing the USB connection, but other than that nothing, it won't even turn on without being connected to external or USB power.
I also tried installing stock 1.43 ROM and that goes fine, it gives me an okay on everything but it gets stuck in the white HTC bootscreen in a loop.
I know I probably made a huge glaring mistaking to cause this, it's probably because I've bought a Transformer tablet and a Galaxy S2 in the last month so the steps regarding the HD2 were probably a bit of a blur. I guess the stock ROM probably included a radio that I wasn't supposed to flash, causing my device to be bricked.
But is there anyway I can get some type of OS working on this poor HD2 now?
She lives!!!
Okay, I'm not actually sure if the problem is solved but I'm back in WinMo 6.5 for the time being.
Since it had been off for a few hours I tried my luck again, plugged it into the wall and saw that it was stuck in the boot loop again. But I got distracted and left it, and when I came back it was on the orange WinMo setup screen.
Not sure what happened to make it go from not even getting power from the battery to working normally. But I see now my radio version is 2.05 which is massively old, I'm going to try and upgrade that first and see... hopefully it won't go back to being dead the moment I power down.

I had pretty much the same problem as you, but mine is the tmobile us version. I tried flashing back winmo from android via sdcard method but i got an upgrade error. I tried flashing with microSD card sizes 8gb, 16,gb, and then 2gb which was recommended, but still no luck. I managed to connect the hd2 through usb on the tricolor screen and flashed back to hspl2.08 and magldr and cwm were still on. But i would like to still get back to winmo stock as if it came from tmobile.
My question is if i download the latest update from tmobile which is T-Mobile HD2 MR Software (Version 3.14.531.1), what is the correct spl i should have installed on the hd2 so that htc and tmobile wont know that i messed with the spl? is it 3.03? I was going to connect via USB on the tri color screen again, run the EXE and manually install the SPL? I just need to know which SPL to install after i run the latest winmo update. Please advise on the SPL and the method i'm going to take on reverting back to winmo. Thanks.

So it sounds like you lucked out, huh? So your HD2 works at least? I believe if you succesfully flash an official ROM like from T-Mobile, it will replace everything including the SPL back to stock - this is what I was trying to do by flashing official 1.43, to go back to factory mode.
I seem to be worse off than you though. I posted last night how my HD2 was back up running WinMo, but as suspected the moment I rebooted it was back stuck in the boot loop.
Any ideas? I wish I could get the HD2 working again so I could set it aside and get to playing with my new Galaxy S2.
This is driving me crazy now...
I managed to flash HSPL 2.08, and then MAGLDR 1.3, and then CWM recovery on top.
But this still seems bricked to me, still needs external power to turn on and I can't actually flash a working ROM... flashing a ROM via USB gives connection error and flashing via SD card goes fine but gets stuck in a boot loop.
What can I do at this point short of tossing the phone? I've tried stock 1.48, stock 1.66, a bunch of radios from 2.05 to 2.15... everything.
I am doing some research but the only results I find are T-Mo HD2s being bricked by the wrong radio. I have an original HD2 and I never flashed a radio intended for another HD2 model, so how is my phone so bricked all of a sudden?
All the threads I've found say if you can get into the bootloader then there's some hope but I doubt it because I can't successfully flash anything with it. I don't even know how I managed to get back into WinMo briefly last night... think my HD2 is probably just toast.
Okay, I finally solved my problems for sure - bent charging leads in the battery compartment!
Anyone having boot issues, take out your battery and look at the metal leads and you will probably find them bent out of shape. They are incredibly flexible, so just make them straight again and it will work. I assume it cuts external power briefly right before booting into WinMo, which is why it was rebooting constantly.
So I suppose for me this was a huge case of confusion, I got all confused with bootloaders and MAGLDRs when the problem wasn't even software related.

The problem with my hd2 is the CPU is overheating thus causing it to freeze or lock up, and gets it annoying. After hours of searching on XDA, that's what seems to be the problem. I can't even talk on the phone for more than ten minutes or else locks up. So my idea was to get it back to winmo stock and see if it still locks up. If it does then i will probably try to send it back to HTC and see if they send another one maybe or fix it.
Ive had no luck luck flashing back to winmo from sdcard so i think i should try flashing back to winmo via usb on the tri color screen. Ive read on XDA that if you flash winmo via usb that it doesn't replace your SPL, and you have to run HSPL4 and flash it manually. I'm just not sure which SPL i should flash. I'm assuming 3.03 maybe?
What you could try is using an sdcard that is 2gb or less. Ive read that anything higher than 2gb will cause issues. I'm still a noobie at this rooting biz. Hope that helps.

Which model HD2 do you have?
Find and download the stock ROM from this thread, get 1.66 since it will work with HSPL2 which is the latest HSPL that will work with MAGLDR (for Android and WinPhone7).
You can flash that through SD card and it will go back to total stock, including stock SPL. I assume you know how to pull the .nbh file from the ROM you download, so just rename to LEOIMG.nbh and put it on your SD card.
Go into the tri-color screen and it should flash fine and give you factory reset. This is where it wasn't working for me, but not because I had flashed the wrong ROM or something but because I had messed up the charging leads in the back while popping the battery in and out to reboot as I was flashing.
Man I downloaded 1.66 last nite and tried to flash back to winmo from android and its toast. Not sure what went wrong. Oh well.

[Problem] Can't flash any ROM

I have a TMOUS 1024MB HD2 that I am trying to flash. I currently have installed HSPL4. Whenever I try to flash a ROM (I've tried two different ones now), the Update Utility program launches, it connects to the phone, the HTC logo comes up on the phone with percentage complete bar, but then it sticks there at 0%. It never progresses, and, eventually, the Recovery mode comes up in the Update Utility citing a connection error, asking me to disconnect, remove and reinstall my battery, and re-start the process. When I remove and reinstall the battery, my phone always boots up fine with no problems, but it will not flash a new ROM. I have tried SPL 2.08.0000 and SPL 3.03.0000. Both versions will install fine but neither will allow a ROM to flash. Any idea what my problem might be? Thanks for your help.

both stock spl's, meaning dont allow flashing.
re run the hspl.exe program, (hspl4 i assume) and change the dropdown from x.xx.0000 to one like x.xx.HSPL
