Hi have they fixed the overheating issues when shooting 4k video, get my Z2 in May well hope I do ordered it in March but as we all know it’s been delayed. I’ll probably never record 4k video but if it doesn’t work you shouldn’t advertise it as a selling point. Didn’t they record any 4k video on it before they show cased it at the world mobile congress show does make you wonder?

Who told you it doesnt work? It does work, you just have to make pauses every 3 minutes or so, and not on every device.

If you can only record 3 minutes at a time due to it getting hot it doesn’t work the Samsung s5 doesn’t have this limitation. If you Google it it’s a well-known problem with the Z2

The Samsung Galaxy S5 has a 5min recording limit for 4K recording.

i didn't know that,i was reading a review on the Sony Z2 and they recorded 11 minutes of 4k on it but it shut down due to getting hot and the footage they had recorded was corrupt due to the phone crashing so don't think on the z2 there is a time limit on it.

Go buy S5 then with 5min limit, seriously people crying about something they wont even use, you realise just how much space 4k recordings will take? Where are u gonna store or play them? Its a feature that u wont be using in any ways apart from showing of to friends, but still, they read something somewhere and now its a big deal, seriously grow up. Its a deal breaker for you? Im sorry, dont buy the phone, really pointless discussion.

Agree with this sentiment.
It's like complaining that you need to top up the gas in your sports car after you've racing at 220mph!
It's a beast of a phone - and overheating is a side-effect of some of the features. Other phones will have similar issues.
I am referring to the Samsung Galaxy S5. Someone here claims the S5 doesn't have this issue. Well that's because the S5 has a 5min recording hard limit enforced for 4K recording. Hence that's why it "doesn't have this problem". To me it is kinda stupid for ppl to use this as a deal-breaker, I mean who really will use 4K recording? Much less use it to shoot a feature film.

Doed the phone overheat and force close too on 1080p recording? I have read some posts that its not just 4k. I hope its just a faulty unit

Reviews of phones in my opinion need at least a month of the phone being used.
People that post "reviews" a couple days after release are merely a "hands-on" video of the phone.

The portrait to landscape (vice versa) transitions?
Agreed to an extent. On my Nexus S running ICS the transition delay was 200ms and was changeable to up to 10ms.
I found that having a quick auto rotation could be sometimes frustrating because the screen would rotate when I didn't want it to, like when I put the phone down on the table.

It has NFC but my understanding is that it's not currently enabled in the stock software. Presumably this is a difficulty a custom ROM or kernel maker could rectify.

Hi guys so for some reason I can't take video anymore I believe hardware issue. Every time I try to record the camera top pieces makes an internal vibrating sound and live view mode is all blurry. Anyone know about this?
Would help and sometimes when I watch HD films or heavy duty games the screen freezes with looping audio clip. Prob also hardware
Rest of phone works fine please reply warranty already used once.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using XDA
I've never had my camera make a whirring sound. With that being said it sounds like a hardware issue. But the only way to know is to obviously compare roms to see if its software related.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk 2
I'm pretty sure its hardware but how would I fix it? Sometimes when the flashlight is on it also makes the same sound. Warranty's gone so don't know how to DIY repair...
Sent from my SGH-I777 using XDA
Well I know absolutely nothing about fixing hardware on this beast . But what would seem like it would work is to buy a broken i777 for parts off ebay or something and figure out how to replace the camera or whatever u believe may be broken. Adam Outler is a boss when it comes to ripping these bad boys open he may be able to help.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk 2
My i777 has been doing that for months, almost the entire time I had it (got it in October). I thought it was common. It does it on every ROM I use. I don't know why the flashlight does it, but it must have something to do with focusing the camera. Sometimes when I open up the camera it look like a fisheye/wide lens, and makes the sound, until I tap to focus. And sometimes when I open the video camera it will make that sound and I have to switch to still pictures and focus and switch back. And even more weird sometimes when I open the camera for video it will look like I am looking through water, with wavy circles fluctuating, until I switch to stills, focus, and switch back.
Again I thought this happened to most. I don't have a problem 75% of the time, and you have to focus the camera anyway before you take a picture, so it resolves itself. It only is a real problem with video, but it happens with video far less often.
Guess I should try to get a replacement before my warranty runs out in October. Maybe like the Captivate, the early batches had some hardware issues, my wife and I both got Captivates with random reboot issue.
Sent from CM9 on my TouchPad
I dropped my phone once really badly with no visual damage and I believe after that it started. I have had almost identical issues with you but I believe most people don't get this issue. I can't record video anymore because of the wavy stuff and Yay I'm not alone! But my warranty was already used up so I guess I need to pry open my phone and deal with replacing something...

I have this problem with my new Galaxy S3. I searched the Internet, and found someone with the same problem. The thread is quoted here:
My folders are opening on their own
If I wake the phone, or close an app, my games folder opens by itself. This also happened with my news folder, I thought it had been a problem with a news app in the folder so I deleted it. But now it's the games folder ! Is this down to an app conflict ? As far as I can see it happens randomly, not triggered by something I'm doing. I thought it might be something to do with automatically opening regularly accessed folders but it's not consistent.

You may be right about that.
But how can we users tip the developer department about bugs?
There is also the bug where the notification sounds is played by the speaker, even if the head phones is plugged in.
And i don't know if this is a software bug, but i also get very LOW sound when the head phones are plugged in. Can easily hear the noise from outside when having the volumen at max and listening to music/radio/what ever.

Folder Bug
...having the same problem...pretty annoying. No solution so far. It is always the game folder.
Hi guys,
This happens to me as well. It's always the Games folder. I tried renaming that, thinking that it has to do somehow with it's name. Also, maybe we can trace it back to some of the games inside. Mine are:
Real Racing 2
Angry Birds Space
Zynga Poker
Asphalt 7
888 Poker
So let me know if any of you experimenting this has one of those in the Games folder. Thanks guys!

That didn't fix anything for me. I finally e-mailed HTC and this was their response which also did not fix anything.
Safe Mode
1. Please turn off the phone.
2. Then briefly press the Power button to turn on the phone.
3. While the phone powers on, press and hold the Volume down button until phone loads the OS and "Safe Mode" should appear on the lower left part of the screen.
After you put it in safe mode, try using your phone, if it works perfectly, then the problem may be caused by an application your phone. Which you will need to remove the applications one by one to see which one is causing the issue. If the issue persists, please reply to this email so we can further troubleshoot and have this issue solved.
All I know is I'm about ready to sell/return this HTC One and go get the Galaxy S4. My S3 treated me fine and the camera was far superior.
Was told it's a software issue and the update isn't expected for at least a month. So until then I have a $600 phone with a useless camera. Returning this and going to the S4. Not sure why I doubted it when I loved my S3. Figured I would give HTC a try again from my Sensation 4G days but what a waste of time. I can say the build quality of the phone along with the screen were definitely the things that attracted me.
What about an exchange, since you just got it? Did you get it in store? If so .. you could test out the one they exchange it for while at the store. Mine works awesome, and many others are very happy with theirs. So it sounds like you got a lemon camera. And we all know there are some bad ones in all the phone models.

True. I actually returned it and went with the S4. I'll give HTC another shot once their next big phone comes out. I did find myself missing a bigger screen also. It may be lacking a few PPI compared to the One but it's just as nice. Thanks for the kind words guys.

I see that you already returned the One. But I do not see how it could have been a software issue. If you were stock, you should have had build 1.27.531!8. I have that build and my focus works fine. Sounds like you should have exchanged it because it was clearly defective. Too late now, though.

In my phone this strongly correlates with heat. Once the phone gets hot from being at high brightness or doing something graphically intensive it will not focus. Sometimes you can get it to work by giving it a sharp slap or pressing gently on the glass in front of the camera. If you let it cool down for a few minutes then it works. But it is definitely a physical problem.
I'm having the same issues. My first HTC One was fine but had a power issue so it was replaced with this one that will now not focus. I contacted HTC and T-Mobile and was told that there would be a software update in the future to fix the issue but there are no specified dates. I asked T-Mobile if they could exchange it since it's only 2 months old and was told I would have to wait on an upgrade or purchase at full price. I'm really not pleased about any of this.
So out of the blue I've acquired a faint bar right down the middle of my entire screen. At first it was only on the always on display screen now it seem permanent on my main interface. Glad you got your issue fixed.
Consumer electronics like cell phones, toasters. DVD players etc. are at best manufactured to class 2 standards, which doesn't require 100% functional testing, and has(if I remember correctly) a 25% acceptability rate for failures. Defects looks yours are to be expected.

All overblown and only apparent because tech websites are looking for issues or for the next exploding battery problem. I guarantee any problems are within QC boundaries.

Red screen tint, WiFi issues, Random restarts. That's more than the G6 has shown regardless of sales. Those are things that should have been fixed pre-production or at the very least pre-sale. Especially considering Samsung's revenue stream. The random restarts haven't even been fixed yet

Pink/Red tint issue is real. I had bought newly manufactured S8 and S8+ (April production), still same problem. The software update made it worse. Low Wifi signal at 5GHZ is a problem still. The weak Wifi signal has been a problem since S4, S6, and now S8.
S8 has a weak speaker compared to S7. These are real problems that samsung will not fix. They haven't fixed Weak Wifi and network signal issue since S4 days.

Don't talk crap man.
So if it was your phone you would accept such a defect and carry on using it without complaint?
Somehow I think not.

Not talking crap, just pointing out something that people seem to not understand. There's always comments like this, about things that don't work right.
I'm not saying I would just carry on without complaint, but, as you have done, that complaint should be aimed at the manufacturer, or the store where you got it.
I was just wondering why, after you had only one defect, and had your issue resolved, was it necessary to create a new thread with negative remarks, giving prospective buyers a bad image of a decent device.
Maybe if more people understood the manufacturing process and quality requirements of consumer electronics, there would be less complaints. That's all I'm after.
Umm....
I haven't a clue what you're on about matey.
I'm not the O/P. And I haven't had any problems with a G6. I don't own one yet, my delivery has been screwed up so instead of receiving it today I'll have it either tomorrow or Monday.
Wana post me some of that gear you're smoking...?

Well since you're the one who said "don't talk crap," I was obviously responding to you. I wasn't meaning you specifically have a G6, just was explaining how I wasn't talking crap by explaining what I originally said about having defects.
Trying to have an honest conversation and I'm "talking crap" or "smoking." [emoji20]
Hmmm....
Still don't make sense but OK
