So out of the blue I've acquired a faint bar right down the middle of my entire screen. At first it was only on the always on display screen now it seem permanent on my main interface. Not to mention I'm getting extreme glitching when I scroll. Obviously I'm taking it down to Sprint but I'm pretty pissed off. I'm definitely not paying the deductible. I have never dropped it or anything. Not a good sign I may be returning it all together. I'm going to factory reset it but I've had issues like these before and it was always hardware ?

When claiming warranty you pay the deductible

There is no warranty deductible. You are claiming insurance on the phone if you are paying a deductible.

Glad you got your issue fixed.
Consumer electronics like cell phones, toasters. DVD players etc. are at best manufactured to class 2 standards, which doesn't require 100% functional testing, and has(if I remember correctly) a 25% acceptability rate for failures. Defects looks yours are to be expected.

So if it was your phone you would accept such a defect and carry on using it without complaint?
Somehow I think not.

Red screen tint, WiFi issues, Random restarts. That's more than the G6 has shown regardless of sales. Those are things that should have been fixed pre-production or at the very least pre-sale. Especially considering Samsung's revenue stream. The random restarts haven't even been fixed yet ?

All overblown and only apparent because tech websites are looking for issues or for the next exploding battery problem. I guarantee any problems are within QC boundaries.

Pink/Red tint issue is real. I had bought newly manufactured S8 and S8+ (April production), still same problem. The software update made it worse. Low Wifi signal at 5GHZ is a problem still. The weak Wifi signal has been a problem since S4, S6, and now S8.
S8 has a weak speaker compared to S7. These are real problems that samsung will not fix. They haven't fixed Weak Wifi and network signal issue since S4 days.

Not talking crap, just pointing out something that people seem to not understand. There's always comments like this, about things that don't work right.
I'm not saying I would just carry on without complaint, but, as you have done, that complaint should be aimed at the manufacturer, or the store where you got it.
I was just wondering why, after you had only one defect, and had your issue resolved, was it necessary to create a new thread with negative remarks, giving prospective buyers a bad image of a decent device.
Maybe if more people understood the manufacturing process and quality requirements of consumer electronics, there would be less complaints. That's all I'm after.
Umm....

I'm not the O/P. And I haven't had any problems with a G6. I don't own one yet, my delivery has been screwed up so instead of receiving it today I'll have it either tomorrow or Monday.

Been following HHGregg thread and have noticed everyone from there has less or no bleed, no ICS lockup issues, better WiFi range, and possibly better GPS signal. I know hands down it was much better then the one I got from Gamestop on Dec 23.
So if this is true like it appears to be don't tell me Asus didn't totally **** the bed on QualityControl and just rushed that **** out initially and while we are at it they MUST be using different hardware or firmware versions of something in the newer Primes.
Can this be confirmed with any other HHGregg customers and what are your serial batches?
Yeah.. a new firmware update was released recently, today. Ta-da... most, if not, all of my problems with asus prime ar gone .

Lol nope, brand-spanking new TF201s!
I got mine from them and am very satisfied overall. Everything works flawlessly so far. My GPS doesn't register half the satellites that my SG2 can but I don't mind. I still have not received the new GPS OTA update that everybody seems to be getting. I can't wait to get this update to see if my GPS improves
HHGregg prime owner here. Mine definitely has backlight bleed. Everything else works the same as it did with the one I bought at best buy. No improvement here.
Who is to say updates alone didn't make them better? how will you differentiate that?
I have Gamestop prime. No bleeds, lockup issues, great wifi etcc...n I have one of the first batches from 12/22. It is true some primes have different hardware or wifi cards in them. We won't know exactly which ones until Gary updates with some kind of chart or something showing which serial numbers have older hardware in them.

He said the next purchase order was sometime around the 25th. I'm not sure whether he meant that I'm going to get one of those or not. One thing I specifically asked about and he confirmed was that if it took longer than the 30 days I have to return for them to get me a replacement, he would still honor it.

I voted for minor issues, because mine has screen bleed lining the right side of the screen. If it was only visible during boot up or at max brightness it would be okay, but the only way for me to avoid seeing it on a black background is to have brightness around 25%. To me, not being able to have the brightness around 50% really feels limiting. I am on the fence about whether or not to exchange, honestly it will depend on how soon they are getting more.
I have heard some people here say that blacklight bleed on the top right is on every transformer, or you cant avoid blacklight bleed with an IPS screen, but I must completely disagree. Clearly, there are plenty of people who received "Perfect" TFP's without any light bleed at all.
I ask myself if i could live with the blacklight bleed, and I am not really sure. Then I ask myself if I would risk the exchange for the chance of getting a "perfect" one (which in my mind would include blacklight bleed to the extent of ONLY seeing it on bootup), and my answer is unequivocally, yes.
For those of you who say you can only see the bleed at bootup, does this mean if you open the app drawer (so the right side of the screen is black), do you see the light bleed? Mine is totally obvious unless the brightness is all the way down (which, hilariously, is what "autobrightness" does)
I'll post pictures later tonight for opinions

I ended up talking to a phone tester that works for LG here in San Diego. She's from South Korea, she deals directly with corporate in Seoul and translates for them. I told her my V10 is a glitchy freakhouse and that it was all her fault.
She said they know that a certain percentage of the phones are defective with overheating, GPS failure and other issues. She didnt tell me what percentage though so not sure how wide reaching this is. I realize that missing fact makes this a little less valuable info but I thought it was interesting enough to share.
No product is perfect. I've dodge most of the issues I see here in the forum, only heating issue I had was trying the set up a email with Exchange server.
Like you said a number would be interesting. Did she indicate it was a hardware or software issue?

She didnt and wouldnt know and I'll tell you why. She explained their process. The testers just sit in an office and play with the phones, they dont use them in their daily lives. Then they send all issues to LG R&D who are supposed to diagnose and fix the issues.
Maybe they have other people doing more in-depth desting, I dont know but she is a contract employee of LG.

I'm not sure what your intention is here but if we dont bring things like this to light then we're not doing anything to help all the people who are getting bad GPS, dead pixels, etc. that is screwing up their daily lives and causing a ton of hassle. I'm not an activist but I'm also not going to completely ignore it when this phone got me all excited, cost me $700 and then turned out to screw up my week and waste a bunch of my time.

Yup, I agree. I'm going to return the one I have today or tomorrow. I want this phone to work so bad. I might try a new one, one more time.
Yea, not sure if its true but I have read in many forums how phones don't work properly out of the box and most were fixed by doing a reset on the phone. The first V10 I had was great except for WiFi. I get over 100 Mbps at home and every device gets the same speed. However, the V10 was reaching 10 Mbps...after the reset it worked great and speed was up. I did end up exchanging for a new one (just to make sure I had a good phone, why I got to do a reset to fix a new phone) and the new V10 is great, out of the box. I get GPS lock quick, great WiFi and no lag.

Since english is not my primary language I will do an extraordinary effort to do this...I've passed for 4 V10's already. I was waiting by 9.00am October the 30th to get this wonderful device LG announced that hit every single check mark that I always wanted in a smartphone. My first impressions should've sufficed cause the first one they brought was scratched out of the box, yes, the metal bands were scratched, so obviously I asked for another and that one was ok at least on he outside.
After less than a month I started to notice some weird behavior when displaying some content with the brightness maxed to 100%...dead pixels everywhere( I made a post). I exchanged that unit to and to make the story short I am with my 4th V10(counting the scratched one) and this one has "only" one dead pixel(or an array cause I don't think we can spot one pixel on this devices with our bare eyes) with no other issues so am keeping it fighting my OCD every time I think about it. I don't want to call T-Mo again and put another exchange request cause I know it will come with dead pixels and/or other more problematic issues.
LG quality control is a joke, at this price point dead pixels policy should be 0.

I suspect most of the "complaints" are propaganda from the competition
For complaints. Try a different brand if your not happy with LG. Make both you and LG happy, and move on.
I have had my V10 since December (from T-Mobile). Initially no problems to report, but the image retention issue has become progressively worse (as I type this, the image of this site is being temporarily "burned in"), and the GPS has only recently been failing to connect for navigation. my father also got a V10 the same day, but does not report these issues. User activity may be leading to a faster declining lifespan of phone, but both phones have had a drastic increase in overheating since receiving the Marshmallow update, which may be playing a role in the even greater descent into decomposition.
I've been a big fan of LG phones for years, but the V10 may not be able to keep up with the demand (I'm 19, so like most millennials, I use my phone constantly-possibly why I have this issue)
So my LG V10 has been perfect from day one. Now lets assume that every post on this thread is factual.
Then all we can do is say sorry it was you that got the bad phone, if you add all the posts here it's still less the half a percent bad phones, that's a pretty good number.
This thread is for those who have received their note 7 and are returning it due to battery issue or other issues like build quality, screen scratching easily, lag etc
I'm still on pre-order and no sign of stock but i checked on CPW website uk and its stating date of 21st Oct.
Also those who like me still waiting for phone. I'm really considering cancelling my order and wait for Iphone 7 plus, Google pixel xl, Moto Z, LG V20 I hate it when a top end phone lags or isn't buttery smooth.
Would be interesting to know if you're waiting for replacement and how long is the wait? Also if change of mind and y and what will you purchase instead?
I'm in the uk BTW.

I'm returning mine because of the battery. I've found the phone to be excellent with absolutely no lag or stutter. In fact I'd go as far as go say it's smoother than my Nexus 6P which had thermal throttling performance problems. I'm waiting for a replacement from Samsung as this is the phone of the year for me. I believe the Exynos version the UK has is more fluent than the US Snapdragon version. Samsung told me it was a minimum of 3 weeks for a replacement.

Another interesting point, some who have tried to return product have been told to keep the phone until replacement. This includes amazon and cpw the reason I believe none of the retailers are willing to take the risk of a potential fire in their premises. Imagine having hundreds or even thousands of these phones just waiting to set on fire. Just in case if anyone was wondering.
Amazon is issuesing refunds and asking their customers to keep the phone until further notice, might be the case for some lucky buyers get refund and get to keep phone.

That makes sense must have deliberated between lawyers as who would be liable etc.
Risk of fire is probably very low but not worth taking risk.
all other competitors will be loving it especially apple, this all plays nicely into the hands of Apple. What timing.

I'll have to see this to believe it, the unit i tested in CPW stuttered lag. Even the reviewers on youtube all suggest there is lag.

Mine also is smooth as silk, its a great phone, i'll wait for a new one. I gave my details to samsung customer care yesterday. I also kept my old phone, while i wait, i change the option of fast charging to off. Also i charge phone when i am awake and keep a eye on it. Honesty it doesn't even heat up while charging. I also sometimes shut it off when charging sometimes. I am not worried that it will catch fire. Thats a real bummer!!! Good news i would think it is still covered for a replacement! But according to corning glass it could happen 20% of the time and 80% it should be ok. maybe the angle it hits the ground and surface. I for sure have no expertise in these matters...But i feel for you and all of us that invested in this phone....we shouldn't be experiments for these large companies to test their products!
I returned for a refund and now am back using my Note5. But I will rebuy the Note7 once I am sure the battery issue is fixed.

How did Samsung mess up? Its a developing story and they responded as soon as they could. Do some of you sit anxiously waiting to catch your next breath??????
They've identified the issue within a couple of days and are working on a resolution plan which is why they are saying they'll contact us in the next week once stock and plans are understood!
The problem has been the messages coming from retailers and we all know they are full of sh.. just to get you off the phone!
Give them time. I'd rather this was managed that rushed with mistakes.
If you fancy an iphone then what are you doing on Android waiting for the note7. If you jump to the LG...good luck there. I've never even seen v10 in the UK! And how do you know they won't have an unlucky problem...**** happens

I'm sure the real reason for leaving phones with customers until exchange is that they know the risk is low so why inconvenience customers by taking their phones off them and potentially leaving them without and at the back of the queue having refunded them. It doesn't work.

Wow man. Easy tiger I think people have the right to be annoyed frustrated considering the nature of the problem. Battery exploding I mean it's pretty bad, yes they are trying to resolve the issue but people expect better especially when you fork out around £700.
As for sharing info, experience, sentiments and considering other options is nothing new. No one should feel threatened by it. This is the way of the world, it maybe not right or wrong but it's the way it is.
So dude join the discussion and take it easy.

So I thought the P-OLED was supposed to eliminate the risk of this, but read an article today about the Pixel XL2 (same screen) having burn in issues. Anyone experiencing this with the V30?

I just read the same article lol. Hopefully the V30 won't have this issue. I just had my phone for 2 days now.

I get why ChazzMatt roasts people on here.
That's not what I said. LG made a statement that due to some new capsulation technology in the P-OLED it would be mitigated.
The article refers to the Pixel XL2 screen having burn in. It's the same screen as the V30. I was looking for some sort of confirmation of that.

There is no need to get pissed of like this, I just asked one thing, and, well you have answered that LG said this, so, from my part there is no problem
Also, could you link the LG announcement? Just curious, this would be my first oled smartphone and I want to know if there is some confirmation about P-Oled being safe.

Yes there is:
http://www.lgnewsroom.com/2017/08/n...o-feature-first-ever-oled-fullvision-display/
"Most importantly, using advanced encapsulation and pixel-scanning technology, the burn-in problem that has affected OLED technology in the past has been all but eliminated in the P-OLED technology in LG’s upcoming device."
Not saying this is accurate just answering the question.

There is no proof that the V30 and Pixel 2 XL have "same screen". Same manufacturer, diagonal and number of pixels does not mean "same screen". Google may have chosen to buy cheaper screens in order to increase profits, or maybe LG didn't want (or couldn't because of yeld issues) to deliver their best technology screens to Google.
I'm seeing it...
I started to notice it yesterday while reading an eBook. I'm waiting to see if it gets worse before contacting LG. I have a LG v30 from Verizon.

You know what FUD means? Congrats, you've read FUD article. You'll now loose your sleep, fearing and avoiding Pixel 2 XL, even avoiding to take a glance on it in store. That's what they want, I mean ZOG wants you to not buy Pixel 2XL, instead go spend cash on Note 8

Nope, your V20 doesn't have burn-in. It has image retention

Sure. I noticed it last night for the first time while reading a book via the Kindle app (black text/white background). It's about 3/4 of the way down from the top of the screen. It's almost like the Kindle app is transparent, but it isn't. Hope that makes sense. I bought the phone the day it came out and have been using it as my daily driver since Oct 5th. Love the device/features. Takes amazing pics and quad DAC is impressive.
Hello everyone. Jumping in here because I am getting a V30 tomorrow. But just wanted to add to this. I have seen people point out that this is not "burn in" but image retention or image persistence. If this is the case, it's not a permanent thing and will probably fix itself the more you use the device. A device would have to be used for a longer period of time to get actual "burn in" I would think.
Well what the best way to prevent burn in? Any ideas?
I just a S8 in the store has very very bad burn in.
Don't put your brightness on 100% like they do in the stores. I keep mine on 60% generally during the day, crank it up to 90ish if I go for a walk and then turn it way down at night. I do that on all my phones and have never had burn in. My sister keeps hers over 90 all the time and always complains about burn in.

I've been using AMOLED Burn-in Fixer on my S7 edge after I got burn-in from Waze. It basically sets up Negative Colors from the accessibility options, as I can tell. the burn in is much better, but not gone (and I really wish Waze would do something about this, as it's probably the only app which will do this).

Here's the image: Taken from my Nexus 5X of the V30 screen, gray wallpaper in preview. You can really see it about 1/3 the way up from the bottom of the screen. That's exactly what I saw yesterday. It's more noticeable when the screen dims. I'm going to reach out to LG and open a case.
The Pixel, with its Tensor chip and machine learning, can somewhat adapt to the phone user's habits, right? That's why battery life improves, maybe the phone gets hot at first, then doesn't as I've seen people imply here (and was my experience), and so on.
Then you have all the complaints here. The phone sucks, it gets hot, the battery is terrible, etc. And when people do complain about bugs what is usually the first advice they get? Reset it. But in some cases isn't that exactly the wrong thing to do with this phone? With a device that adapts to your usage isn't a wipe the last thing you'd want to do? Or am I giving the whole "machine learning" thing too much credit? I ask because I visit a Telegram thread and a user there was complaining. Someone asked if he had reset the phone and he replied "yes, a few times".
I don't know about overheating and other problems, but w/r/t battery life? I agree. These phones absolutely get better battery life over time, and frequent resets are probably disruptive of that process.
In fact i am quite happy with this phone. If it was not the epic fail with the december update breaking phone connectivity and the way it was handled otherwise i don't have any problems. Camera is top notch especially when shooting in RAW and battery life for me is between 1 and 2 days (depends how much i use it). I think that with few more updates bugs will be fixed and we will have very good phone with regular updates just like the old pixels. The only thing i hope to change are these stupid 5G, volte and vowifi limitations imposed by google for most countries.
You will always get people complaining about any new phone/device.
Some people are more dramatic than others.
Any new device is not a 100% perfect. There will always be bugs on a new device.
Bottom line is if you hate it that much. Sent it back and get a refund.
Or buy a POS crapple and be a sheep.
Wait a second guys. Let's call a spade a spade. The device was not ready to be released until the December update was fixed. Past the 15 day period there is no returning the phone so put that aside, it's a non issue. You can't be saying that connectivity is fine, it's not. Don't even get me started on the FPR. Be real and acknowledge what is broken. Call screening is gone, on hold is gone, there is basically no transfer from wifi to network without a reboot. That is unacceptable and no amount of calling those complaining sheeple is going to change that. I've owned every Google device since they started coming out with hardware and this device is the worst they've ever released. Do I like the phone, yes I do. Would I trade it in, no. But there are serious problems and you must admit it without criticizing those that do. Calling Google out is not being unfaithful it's just being real.
edit: that being said I did bootloader unlock the device and I'm running ProtonAOSP non rooted. FPR is way better but connectivity is still the December radio which is awful. The rom is better that what Google has out now. Just sayin'.

It doesn't adapt to anything except to determine what kind of advertising you would be most susceptible to so that gooble can target you most profitably. All this "AI" and "machine learning" crap is just buzz words that really do NOT imply any of the amazing scifi ideas of machines actually thinking. Don't get overly carried away with marketing buzzwords.

You mean aside from apple, which is actually a fashion accessory and nobody actually expects it to work well. I see lots of apple people with nothing that works, and they just shrug it off as "that's just what phones are".

Well said, and very true!
I am SO tired of users saying "well MY device works just fine, YOU must be doing something wrong!". That's exactly the response I see everywhere as soon as someone has any complaint about the P6. The "only" issue I had was the almost total loss of reception after the December update ... I'd like for those users to tell me how I did something wrong there? I wanted to root after the update anyway, so I unlocked, rooted and flashed the mid-November radio.img which brought my reception back up to the 3-4 bars I had before the botched Google update (which had taken it down to 0-1 bar).
Google just letting P6 users sit + wait now, those on locked bootloaders with crappy reception, is what pisses me off most of all. I am long past the 2-week return period so I'm stuck with the device. But I've been letting it sit, half the time on Airplane mode, on my desk for weeks now while my actual daily driver is the OP 5T.
I'm just waiting for "proper" custom roms now to finally get some options ... or until the eBay prices for the P6 go back up so I can sell it without losing too much. The next person that tells me that "Google are the best + fastest with updates for their devices!" will get tarred + feathered by me for sure

While you're waiting try ProtonAOSP rom then reflash the November radio. That's what I did and it's running rather swimmingly. Still some issues but definitely worth a shot especially if it's just sitting on the desk.

I disagree. I don't deny that some people may have connectivity issues, but I can say that I do not. I find connectivity to be excellent. However, my carrier has only up to LTE, no 5G as of yet. This could be why, either flaws in 5G connectivity, or new and patchy 5G networks. Maybe try limiting it to LTE and see how that works out?

Fingerprints are not good for security, especially when it comes to anti-self-incrimination laws, since it is not knowledge based. Consequently, I'd have to categorize finger print unlock to be more of a gimmick than a real feature.

I disabled 5G on day one since my carrier doesn't have 5G coverage in my area yet, and STILL the connectivity issues are there. Google stopped the OTA, admitted there are problems and then even deleted the files from their update server so YES, there is a huge connectivity problem on the P6(P). Just because YOU don't have those problems doesn't mean they don't exist

Nah, those "custom" roms that are out yet don't have any customization (yet?), so I'll pass. I am helping test the Renovate Ice module though, which is slowly adding tweaks/features again. RiCE was the reason I was able to stay stock on my OP7 for 2 years, so fingers crossed it will help with this P6 too.

No, I didn't "think" it was bad - if calls don't go through or disconnect mid-call then that's not an issue with the display of the signal strength, but one with the SIGNAL itself. None of that happened any more after flashing the mid-November radio.img.
Why do you think Google stopped pushing the OTA and removed the files from their servers? Certainly not because they were bored, but because they KNEW there were issues.
So please stop assuming that 1000s of users are simply too stupid to handle a phone or only think they have an issue. YOU got lucky, great - but please don't treat those of us that have reception or fp or whatever issues like we don't know what we're doing!

The only people that are having any issues are the people that keep their phone stock. And most of them do not even know that they have a bad device.
Most people that come to the XDA forums are modders of some sort.
I honestly do not have any issues after making changes to the P6 to suit me.
I understand some people are having issues and most are self inflected.
