[Q] LG G2 Won't connect to VZW Network - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm having a problem with my Verizon G2. I had the Xposed framework installed, and I installed an app called Xorware, which is a toggle for 2G/3G/4G. I messed around with the settings in the app a little bit, and left it alone. A bit later, the phone stopped connecting to the mobile data network. I tried uninstalling the Xorware apps, wiping the cache on my phone, and even restoring to a backup where I don't have Xposed installed, and I'm still getting the same issue. Wifi still works, but every couple of minutes it disconnects randomly and then connects again. I also tried removing the SIM card for a few minutes after turning off the phone, and still, no luck.
Is there any way I can fix this, or do I have to go and get a new SIM card?

That's really odd. I'd try and update the PRL and / or Profile and see if that helps. If it doesn't, then might have to restock the phone with the kdz file. It's kind of a pain, but probably not as much as not having data.

HELP! Wifi/3G signal cuts off when some apps are started

I'm running X10 Eminence and everything's been fine for a while.
Now, I'm finding a lot of apps that cut my wifi/data connection the minute they are opened. The signal is dropped immediately when I open Handscent, Flixter, Weather Channel and I'm sure I'll discover more. Some apps work just fine, but others the network just cuts right off. The minute I go back to the homescreen, data/wifi reconnects.
No one has any clue or has an idea how to fix this?
Is your phone Rooted? if it is, you might have done something wrongly... if not, how bout you try and do a factory reset? backup your stuff 1st
If all else fail, then the problem might be with your SIM card...
My apps are backed up weekly. Restoring them has not helped at all and neither has reinstalling them. My phone has been in the same state of root for months now. All other apps work fine with data - just a select few.
I'd like to avoid having to redo everything again.

Might be related, but I found whenever I killed "Backup & Restore" using any task manager the network would be lost and restart. If I left it alone it seemed fine.
Maybe some apps hook into some autostart thing that monitors network connectivity... ??
Turns out Adblocker was the culprit. I deleted it and everything works fine.

Data stopped working, but I still see 3G/4G in notification bar

I did a search, but wasn't able to find any relevant threads. So if I missed something, please point me in the right direction.
My problem is that earlier this morning, my data ceased working. The notification bar shows 3G (sometimes even 4G), but I cannot get anything to load or refresh. The data arrows are indicating that while data can go "up", it isn't coming "down". I'm not sure what happened, as I wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary when this happened. I've got a decent signal in terms of bars as well, at least 2 or 3. Even given that, the data connection does appear to drop and then come back a few seconds later, but the behavior is the same: no internet.
I am S-OFF, global radios I believe, and when this first happened I was running the "le n00b" CM9 kang (which I've been running since yesterday morning with only intermittent data drops and no other problems). After a while of no data, resetting the radios via airplane mode toggle, a reboot, full shut down and restart, I restored a nandroid of the sense-based Vigor360 ROM, which had never had any data issues, but the same behavior is happening. Notification bar shows a decent signal, 3G/4G, but no data. After that, I powered down and pulled the battery, sdcard & sim card, left them out for a minute, put it all back together, powered back up, but still no data.
tl;dr: notification bar shows 3G/4G and decent signal, but I'm getting absolutely no data.
I've confirmed with a co-worker who's also on Verizon that their data is working, so it doesn't seem to be tower/network related. Anyone seen anything like this before? If so, what's the prognosis?
UPDATE: I was in Vigor360 with no data, and kept digging around XDA's wonderful search function, and found someone with a similar issue (though nothing about 3G/4G being in the notification bar) and they updated their PRL via *228. I did that, data seemed to come back. So I took a chance and restored my "le n00b" CM9 nandroid, and so far I've got data! Editing this post using that connection right now! I'll update further if I drop data again or discover any new relevant info.
the *228 wont do anything for us now that we have 4g and the sim card updates the prl when there is a new one. that was the old way to force a prl on 3g only so i think that was only a coincidence that data came back.
you might have a bad sim card. what you can do to test is put it in wifi mode and surf the web. if that works then its not the radio.
thing you can try to do:
remove the sim card and boot the phone. wait for it to fully boot and it say there is no sim detected. turn of the phone and put your card back in. then boot into recovery and wipe dalvik cache and boot the phone like normal.

Perhaps, but that was the line of demarcation between data not working to it working. Plus, the data speed seemed even faster than normal for the respective signal strength. Either way, I'm just happy it's working.

Thanks - I'll keep this in mind if it happens again. I was able to use the internet normally on wifi.
check your APN
You probably know -
You can always RUU back to stock to have a working phone

[Q] No mobile data (MJ7 vroot)

I just noticed a few hours ago that I have no mobile data at all. I asked several verizon friends at work (where I was at the time) if they had mobile data and they all said yes. This must be a problem isolated to my phone. I haven't installed any new software recently. Maybe a virus? I've tried rebooting, toggling mobile data on and off, airplane mode on and off, pulling battery for a couple minutes, removing and reinserting the sim card, to no avail. I don't want to have to restore my phone to factory if I don't have to. Please help!
EDIT !!!!!! ---- My apologies, my mobile data has returned. After me doing nothing. Very strange. You can delete this thread.

LTE Data Flashing on/off

Just encountered a little problem today. From the beginning: My Note 3 was rooted/TWRP'd running Vision X 3.0. Gave my wife my new G3 and took the Note 3 back. When I wiped her data in TWRP and restored a backup (same ROM) the 4GLTE icon started flashing on and off. I wiped complete again, installed a new ROM and did the same. Then I Odin'd to the new update. Same issue. I did encounter an issue with switching the phones earlier in the day. I had to get Sprint to do it via chat due to the Note 3 not being deactivated/reactivated correctly when I tried through the site. So I am guessing it could be a bad SIM card or they muffed something during activation. It will at times stop flashing and give me full LTE, but if I reboot or shut the phone off/back on it starts flashing again and the phone gets warm. It will sometimes stop/start if I mess with Connections Optimizer too, either checking or unchecking. Appears to be trying to connect to LTE but something is preventing it from locking on. I would appreciate it if anyone that has run into this before can give me some ideas. I do have a service center in town, and will go in the AM if I cannot find a solution anywhere else. I have never encountered this before.
Also in settings for data, Mobile State flashed between Connected/Disconnected and Mobile Network Type flashes between LTE/Unknown along with the LTE icon in status bar.
Tried killing data and all that. Airplane mode etc.. Sprint service center says it may happen when updating and will calm down in a couple of days..I don't think it was the update since I didn't update until after it started.
Also failed to mention when I switch to CDMA only in Data settings it will stay on 3G and doesn't flash. Has to be an LTE issue. And it is not the towers in the area because the G3 is fine.
Since it's broke anyway, going to Odin NC5 and see what happens. Tried freezing Connections Optimizer and flashing a new Kernel but didn't work either.
EDIT: Nope. That didn't work either. Ugh
Apparently it was a Sprint issue. Had to let it ride for a day or so and now back to normal. LTE is good again. Was an issue on their end when something went wrong during the phone swap.
Had this same problem with my Galaxy Grand Prime and rebooted in safe mode and it stopped. Safe mode disables all 3rd party apps. It is a 3rd party app causing the problem. I had to turn phone off, turn back on and hold volume down button after seeing Samsung logo popup, then wait for the safe mode to appear in lower left corner and release the button. Flashing stopped after that. Turned safe mode off and its still good so far. Hope this helps someone!!

Question No Network

S22+ on Verizon (Locked). I’ve had the phone since launch with no major issues. I received the March update on Friday the 18th. Since then, I have lost my network at least once every day. I get the message “Your phone’s not registered on a network so you can only make emergency calls.” Restarting or toggling Airplane mode on and off will correct it temporarily. I’ve gone into Settings>General Management>Reset, and reset the network settings, but that hasn’t corrected the problem. Anyone else with this issue? What else can I try?

Have you tried a factory reset? That's usually recommended after each update
The only time I do that is after an Android version update. The phone is only a month old, and this is the first update. I will if nothing else works.
So every month when you get a security update you do a factory reset and set up your phone again, reinstalling your apps?
never heard of that issue, normally you wouldn't factory reset after a security update. maybe try clearing cache in recovery mode?

Just a regular restart is enough after an update why do we have to factory reset each time??

If I find my device behaving in a weird way after any type of update, I usually just factory reset said device. Now, for starters, I do have a micro sd, on which I store all my data. So, instead of wasting time trying to find out the culprit app/update, I hit factory reset. Cleans up everything I don't need, frees more space and the time required to reinstall all my apps is just around 5 minutes. For example, I had this phone for 2 years and had 10 factory resets so far.
have you contacted your carrier yet? if your phone keeps showing 'not registered' error message then it's likely that SIM should be replaced or the carrier side made some sort of error from their end and keeps dropping your phone from being recognized as registered.
I've seen one case that the phone was not listed as US device during an update and pretty much de-registered some people's phones. Random stupid things do happen
I think I might have fixed it by deleting system cache. Also did a forced restart. It is an intermittent problem.

For me, just a restart is enough to make my phone better to use and I do it weekly once!

So you actually keep the phone 24/24 powered on? I turn off mine every night.
I leave my phone on always. Usually restart once a week.
Issue returned. It is just so random. I cleaned and reseated the SIM card. If I get time I will visit the Verizon store tomorrow.
I would think it's something software issue that samsung engineers need to look into.
If you haven't already, submit error report after seeing the issue again.
Samsung members app > get help > error report
Thanks, I will do that.
