My daughter's rooted and S off Droid Incredible 4G LTE is giving her an insufficient memory error when trying to download certain apps. She has a 32 gigabyte Micro SD card and is running Cyanogenmod 10.2.1. Anybody have any ideas on how to remedy this issue? I suspect we need to run certain apps from the SD card or move data over to it. I am just not sure how to do it.
This is a limitation due to the partitioning of the device, only 1GB can be used for apps and when apps are moved to SD they are moved to the internal "SD card" partition not the real SD card. There is a swap but I'm not sure if it works with CM 10.2.1 and nothing has been worked on it in about a year. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1985658

I may give it a try on my backup DING 4g. I do see that for the latest version of the script there is no reverse....so hopefully I wont brick it. I wonder what happens to existing apps when you run this?
There is a reversal posted on the op...
I installed it today on my existing phone (viper rom & infernal kernel) and so far all my apps are working. Only change I've had to so far is update my gallery links.

When I got my X2, the first thing I did was insert a 16GB SD card (then loaded some files/folders I had backed up, such as apk's) I noticed when I installed ROM Manager (Still don't know why I did that, but...led to something) that when I went to "Install from SD" that ROM manager was seeing my internal memory, not my SD card. So...I just uninstalled ROM manager, thinking it a fluke. Well, I've noticed now that...say if I'm editing an icon and am looking for a picture, or I'm looking for a file in general, my X2 is saying my SD card is my Internal Storage and vice versa. Issue occurs on stock ROM, Eclipse, Atrix port, so I know it's not my ROM.
Any thoughts?
im looking for a similar solution. everything saves to the internal memory instead of the sd card. apps that are supposed to back up stuff to the sd card just do it to the internal memory. i can access the sd card from the phone so it reconizes the sd card. i asssumed it was an OS bug, but its still going on after gingerbread. really need help with this.
If you are running a current version of ATRIX port, alien or eclipse they all have the sd card flip-flop preinstalled on them. There is a thread in android dev subforum with a zip to go back. The stock x2 labels the storage in a different way I guess and the developers prefer to change it. We are just lucky they left a way to change it back.

This is the reason they made the hack to change it in the first place.

Ok so heres the deal. My phone shows 2 internal memory sections. One of them is the actual internal memory, but the other (27gb) is ACTUALLY my external SD card. And I don't know what 'SD CARD" represents. Maybe the expanded internal memory? I don't know when this happened or how. I've known it was this way for a while but I didn't worry about it until I ran out of space and it started causing problems. Which it is now. The problem is, that no matter what settings I change in the phone, if I change apps/photos to save to the SD card, they don't really save to the SD card, they save to one of the ones listed as internal memory. So I basically bought a 32gb sd card for no reason because my phone is completely out of space. My apps can't even update. I wake up in the morning with a notification bar full of "insufficient storage, cannot download" messages.
Has anyone heard of this happening before or has it happened to you? Can someone PLEASE tell me how to fix it. Screenshots are attached.
Also, my phone is rooted and running Jokersax (now Th3Bill's) CM10 ROM, but it has been like this probably since Jokers CM9 ROM.
Thanks in advance for the help =]
Okay, I am and have ran almost all Th3Bill ROMS, and Am currently on Pac man. The images below are going to work no matter what ROM you have. First shows my actual internal memory the Rom is running in, SD Card, is the actual internal memory for storage.
The second picture shows another internal which would be my 16 gig card. Which comes as SDCard 1, my internal is known as SDCard 0. This is set because I chose this when installing the Rom, emmc(internal) as my primary.
This would be switched if I chose my SDCard as primary in installation.
With as many applications, games or such you have. You may want to wipe all and reinstall with your SDCard chosen as primary. This way you will have plenty of memory.

There is no other way to set my SDcard as primary other than wiping everything?

Edit your vold.fstab in root/system/etc.
Mine has this
dev_mountsdcard/storage/sdcard0 auto/devices/virtual/block/nandi
dev_mountextsd/storage/sdcard1 auto
Change the sdcard storage/sdcard0 to a /storage/sdcard1
And vice versa

I'm rooted running AOSP roms (switch around a lot, on Vanir right now). Confused about the different storages and what's going on with my sd card. My internal storage is getting close to being full while my (64gb) sd card has a little over 59gb left. When I look in Root Explorer it looks like everything is duplicated in sd card and regular storage. So, how can I move things to my sd card?

I am rooted, ME7 running Hyperdrive for a couple days now & was downloading some themes & wallpapers when I started getting a notification that my memory was almost full. I have had my SG4 for about 3 weeks now & as I am getting more familiar I want to do more but definitely hope someone can clarify this before I do. I am coming from a HTC Thunderbolt using 4ext recovery which was clear what was internal/external. Any help would be appreciated! I have been searching all day & have only come across 1 thread so for on this. It mentions that the actual external storage is data/media/0. So I'm really not sure how it's set up. My SD card is formatted exFat if that matters.

You can get to the external SD card at /mnt/extSdcard/
And the internal at /sdcard/
In root explorer.

Thanx man!
Hello - I'm running out of internal space and trying to move apps to my SD card, but I keep getting the "Couldn't move app" error. I haven't had any issues with past versions of CM when moving apps, so I'm not sure if it's KK-related (I know there were security changes with KK) or if it's my SD card. My card is a 16 GB SanDisk, class 4, and is only a few months old. If I do a move in TiBu, it initially shows the app as moved but it shows as internal storage again on reboot. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated - thanks for the help!
yo apparently kitkat doesn't really like lower than class 6 SD cards as far as moving things to the sd card. i had this same issue on kk. you're going to have to just get a new card or deal with not moving anything to the sd. sorry bro but google's oppressing us. SINGLE CORE PHONES ARE DED1111
That's what I figured - just another case of the man holding us down. Thanks for the reply!
Hi, I'm also having trouble moving apps to the SD card with CM11. Problem is, I have a class 10 32gb microSD card, so the change card solution isn't applicable. I have plenty of space on the card. Any ideas?
Hi all,
I just got my hands on a Boost Mobile LG Realm. It turns out this phone only has 1gb of internal storage. I popped in a micro sd thinking it would solve the issue. It turns out that you cannot save apps to the SD card. Shoot, some of my apps don't even have the option of setting the SD card as the primary save location.
I have done some research, but alas I still need some assistance. Can someone tell me how I can use my SD card as my primary storage on Kit Kat 4.4.2? I have discovered that my phone has an emulated external storage so that it stops the SD card from being used as a primary storage.
I have successfully rooted the phone via Towelroot, and I have frozen/uninstalled some bloat ware using Titanium Backup
Edit: I have attached my vold file via dropbox: dropbox com/s/ihpfoo4h79kaphx/vold.fstab?dl=0
Like I said I have done some research and the code in my vold file does not match the ones in the guides.

Your gonna be kinda stuck. While you can move the apps to sdcard with a few tools the app data will still be on the internal storage. There are a few ways to move that also but due to the way sd cards work on Android it kills app performance and may even stop the app from working all together. This is due to android removing all sd card code from stock Android and each OEM has to add it back on their own so coding is different from one device to another.

Thanks for the reply. I understand; I guess I will have to lightly use this.
