Basically I'm on a rooted Dell Streak 7, and I'm having a pretty big issue. A while ago I really screwed the thing up, and I had to use the emergency shutoff button. Since then, I've noticed that the device frequently powers off and I have to push the emergency off button and it will turn on. This issue is REALLY getting on my nerves and I need to know if there's a fix for it.
PS, if it's rooted but the problem is hardware-related (emergency off button gets triggered & stuck sometimes), will they still service it?

My Dell Streak will not power on, at all.
There are no lights, and there is no activity, nothing on the screen.
No difference when it is attached to a power brick - with/without battery and/or cover.
The PC will not recognize it.
Attempting to power on while holding various buttons does not work.
Is there any kind of reset button like the Streak 7 apparently has, some trick I can try or is this thing just plain bricked?
maybe insert the battery xDD
or charge it
[/sarcasm]
maybe u have to send it back or did you modify the system roms ?

I had this once.
Google for streakflash, it is a repair tool for streak.
Install it make sure you have all of the drivers in place.
Put the phone in safe mode.
1. pull batery
2. plug in cable phone to pc.
3. start the streak flash software.
4. hold the up volume as you put the battery and back on
5. software should see phone --- install rom.
It may take several attempts to get the safe mode working.
This worked for me.
Streakflash can be found at Streakdroid.com in recovery rom section

I do not think StreakFlash will work... the PC does not acknowledge when I plug in the device, it is off and stays off.
There was some modding going on (StreakDroid) and I was experiencing issues with it - small ones - so I was going back to a factory ROM when the phone stopped.
But now it will not power on -- at all. I would think that if something went wrong, horribly wrong, with the ROM it would still power on, just not much else. But this is worse, so I am assuming it is probably a hardware issue.
I guess the question at hand is simple. In theory, if my phone stopped powering on as a result of some failure in the ROM it would be repeatable...
Has anyone ever replaced the SD card inside the phone with a different one? (I can imagine someone trying a larger one.) If someone did, did the phone still work afterward, or did it then refuse to power on? Did returning the original SD to the phone cause it to work again?
I did NOT attempt what I just described. My phone is still too new for me to start disassembling it. But I guess I am going to search to see if anybody has.
Because it could be important research for streak owners.
If removing or replacing the internal SD, or failing to alter its contents propperly causes the phone to fail to power on then it would appear that my phone is in a similar state, otherwise it would have to be something else - hardware failure, most likely.
Knowing, hands down, that tampering with the SD could kill the phone would be important knowledge.

The discussion found at the above link indicates that the phone will still power on with a bad/damaged/missing internal SD. So it seems I am looking at a hardware failure.
Looking at it as a hardware issue are there any suggestions that might kick start the phone back to life? I know that the streak 7 has a reset switch, for instance, does the 5 have one that is user accessible? I have looked and nothing that I see looks like one to me. Or is there something else that might work -- some combination of battery/power cord/buttons?
Hello,
My sister's Streak rarely boots correctly if at all. It always seems to get stuck on the Dell logo.
I have been trying to use streakflash-QDL to repair it, but no luck. While messing around with QDL, I notice something odd. Her Streak seems to enter diagnostics mode all or most of the time. When I connect it to my PC that has the QDL window open, it comes up with "Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 9002", without pressing the volume up button, or any buttons for that matter. I think I even had the Dell logo locked on the screen and the Qualcomm port showed up.
I'm thinking the connector for the buttons' ribbon cable is a little loose. I'm going to try taking her Streak apart (with her permission, of course) to verify, as soon as I receive some tools I ordered.
Has anyone else run into this situation?
I took apart my sister's Streak, but couldn't visibly see anything wrong with the buttons.
You figured anything out yet
Me streak did that for a couple days after it got wet. It stopped doing that but if I get my streak to turn on, buttons and touch screen doesn't work and the power button is flaky. Seems like only the up volume works.
My Samsung Stratosphere turned itself off sometime and now is rebooting to the Samsung logo, and then turning back off, and rebooting (a couple times earlier it booted to the main android menu, but turned back off immediately afterwards) and when I plugged it into the charger it acts like it's charging and then turns off and acts like it's charging and over and over again, even when the battery indicates that it's at more than half full.
Does anyone know what's happening? (no custom ROMs or anything, it's all standard btw). I took the battery out and everything and it still does the same thing when I put it back. I tried to do a factory reset, but the recovery mode screen always jumps away when I try to activate it (I press both Vol+ and Vol-, recovery mode screen comes up but goes instantly, then the phone goes into a boot loop again).
Please help, thank you!

Hi, I'd recommend sending the phone into warranty, add the phone isn't rooted, you can't do much.

Had same problem on 3 phones. This is a connection problem within the phone. Disassembly & cleaning contacts often helps for a while, but problem comes back. Bumping the phone on the side or top, often allows it to work properly, for a short while, and so does squeezing it, in certain places. Get a new one, since the problem will re-cur.
I received an OTA update and during the update process (or after, I was really paying attention to the screen), the phone turned off and won't turn back on. There's no indication of it turning on nor any indication it's alive. It was plugged during the process so it couldn't have died in the middle of it.
I tried searching up ways to fixing the issue but "fixes" don't work like holding the power button + down volume for 3 minutes didn't work. I also tried contacting Motorola and they couldn't really help either. I had the bootloader unlocked but there's no way it could have caused this big of an issue, right?
Anyway, anyone know of a way to fix this problem? I miss the battery life on this thing. I believe the model number is an X1527 (Canada, Wind Mobile ver)

So about 3 weeks ago, I dropped my HTC so now I have a large crack running down the middle of the screen. However I haven't had any other problems up until last night. The ringtone volume turns itself up without me even touching the phone every now and then and once it does that, the power button stops working. But it does work again once the screen is switched off, meaning I can turn in on but not off. The power button functions fine until the volume button acts up the first time after restart.
I factory reset my phone thinking it may have had something to do with the software but the problem came back within the hour when all the updates started rolling in. Once it did, i booted it into safemode and the problem seemed to stop but I don't know what's causing it. Could it be an actual bug in an update or is the damage to the screen simply too much for the phone itself? Has anyone ever dealt with a problem like this? Any help will be appreciated as I know it's expensive to fix these things and I don't want to go to the shop to get it fixed only for the problem to come back as it's software related.
