I have had an issue recently where the 4G on my Photon just turns off. Not just disconnecting, but turning off. I am in an area with 4G and I use it often. Has anyone seen this happen? Is there a way to "reset" the 4G settings? I am not rooted stock Version 45.3.6
Thanks
So I receive my Telus S3 on release day, activated it, and had no problems (that I noticed, but I was connected to WiFi most of the time.)
Rooted it about a week later, and I can barely get service. Rather, I'll get a couple minutes of connectivity, then it'll disappear for 5-10 minutes. It's not a corrupted IMEI, like this thread is discussing. I've since flashed a stock Telus rom on the phone, and I still have the same problems.
We have low LTE availability in the area, so I thought that may be the problem, but the same thing happens with setting GSM or HSPA in the network settings.

Sounds like a pretty curious case... have you uncovered any causes / solutions yet? Also, before you flashed back to the stock Telus rom, what were you using?
I have a similar issue happening also on my rooted telus phone. I rooted it the day I got it so I cant confirm on how it was before. It is running a stock ROM/kernel. What happens to me is my service will drop from 3 or 4 bars to no service or will show 1 bar but be unable to get any service anyways. Im not in an LTE area but I am in a dc-hspa+ area. Is this what happens to you as well?
The only fix I've found is wait 5-10 min for it to come back.
I scanned this forum before creating this post and I'm pretty sure there isn't one already out there but please don't flame me if there is. I couldn't find any and I spent a good 30 minutes last night, trying to find something like this.
I purchased a used HTC Rezound recently but was unable to get 4G LTE to stay ON. I surfed various forums for a possible fix but couldn't find anything that I hadn't already tried.
This morning, I think I might have found a work-around. Here's what I did.
After activating the line and being able to get sporadic 4G LTE signal on the device, I went into the wifi settings on a hunch that maybe some unexplicable interaction was happening between wifi and the 4G radio. Wifi kept wanting to turn itself on and I kept fighting it by turning it off.
I located my home network and clicked 'forget network'. Once I did that, I went back to make sure wifi was OFF and that Mobile (data) was ON and WHAMMO!! Immediately, the 4G LTE indicator popped back on and I've been rocking 4G for about 2 hours now, without a single blip. I've watched an entire episode of 24 on Netflix in an area of my house where I've confirmed that I have a weak signal and still, no problems at all.
So my Question is this: Is there any other way to disable wifi without having to 'forget' the network when I want to use wifi? (Other than what might seem obvious by turning wifi OFF when I know that doesn't get rid of the 4G dropouts).
It's really only an inconvenience at this stage. All I'd have to do to connect is re-enter the password and since I don't use wifi when I'm at home because I have Unlimited Data, it's not really a big deal but it just seems that the OS on this phone was purposely designed in a way to take people OFF the 4G network when their phone is 'familiar' with a wifi system they're near.
======================== UPDATE ====================
There is no issue with the phone. The issue was an activation issue and I was able to eliminate the problem by trial and error. It turns out, the way I was able to get the device to connect had to do with re-seating the SIM. Once I did, the phone has been flawless in connectivity to both 4G LTE and wifi regardless of the combination of wifi settings. I hope this is useful to anyone reading the thread.
Is your Rezound stock or custom?
LTE will disable when WiFi is activated, most LTE phone does this by design. I have experienced where my Rezound's WiFi would want to turn on automatically on the clean rom, re-flashed and everything was good.
I personally never had issues with my Rezound. If fact, the Rezound has one of the best radios to date. The fact that HTC integrated the antenna into the battery case housing is what makes it a strong contender for receiving radio waves..

Go in advanced settings wifi settings (menu advanced settings)and disable the automatically turn on wifi setting. (Not exactly sure what its called as I hate sense and I'm not running it) but ull see it in advanced settings and then when u want to actually use wifi just enable wifi.
Problem solved

Well, I'm on stock ICS but rooted with S-OFF. The wifi, even when OFF kept wanting to turn ON by itself when I wanted it to stay on 4G. The only way I could get the phone to stay on 4G was to 'forget' my home network.
All is well now. Weird huh?

The Rezound has a poor shield on the 4g radio chip which causes interference in music. So, logically if stuff can get out, then wifi can come in and mess it up.
Dude read what I said and it will never automatically turn on again.
That's the reason it kept automatically turning it on. And if u haven't done what I said then regardless of you thinking its fixed it WILL turn on again by itself.

There's no such setting that I can find within the settings and I know which setting you're referring to. I saw it before on my Thunderbolt but for the life of me, I can't find it on the Rezound's menus. Anywhere. I looked several times. I'm pretty sure it's there. I just can't find it so the only way I could get the 4G to stay on and not have wifi automatically connect was to 'forget' the wifi network.

Found the menu. Still haven't gotten used to the four lines at the bottom of the scrern being the menu.
Here it is. Which setting would it be? I wasn't launching any apps when the problem appeared where wifi kept eanting to turn on. I just powered up the phone and couldn't get 4G.

I remember reading somewhere about people experiencing connectivity issues on the PadFone X where the only way to resolve it would be to restart the device. Has anyone found a work around? I just received one on Saturday and started noticing the issue yesterday.
Edit: or does anyone know the cause of it so I can avoid causing it?
I just got my Unlocked ATT X working on my T-Mobile account and I noticed that it will just lose all data sporadically throughout the day.
Sometimes I can fix it by making a phone call, but usually going into mobile networks and choosing the option without LTE will fix it until this option gets reset.
Looking at the engineering lte menu (found it with anycut) I can see that it's in LTE mode and "idle" when it has no data. So I wonder if it's wandering over to an ATT band and getting stuck.
I have the same isue at times. While at idle for extended period device loses connection and I have to reboot. Turning airplane mode on/off does nothing. Must reboot.
I don't know what changed, but one morning I woke up to my phone "off" and sitting on it's charger. When I turned it back on I forgot to disable LTE and ever since, LTE has worked perfectly.
So, I got this phone but it's stuck on 3G. I saw it once switch to H, but I never got it on LTE.
I tried selecting it in the operator menu scan thing, and LTE is detected, but it doesn't want to kick in when I press it. Any ideas? Running the latest 7.0 build.
EDIT: Went outside, and 4G LTE came on. It went away after a reboot and it's still not back.
EDIT #2: It seems like this is actually a feature, it switches to LTE when I turn off/get out of WiFi.
So this is solved.
