[Q] not charging - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

today i used my phone underwater for a while. before getting into water i checked all plugs. when i came i tried to charge via wall charger but it failed.
then i saw that charger plug was deformed little but there is not any water.
phone fully discharged after a while and can not be opened.
can i solve my problem via magnetic charger ?
i flashed doom kernel, is it software or hardware problem ?
i need help cause i bought my phone from thailand and it is out of warranty.
thanks

1. Try a different charger (USB)
Does it work? Great. Does it still not work? Now you know it's not the charger that's the problem.
2. Open the right flap (with the SIM and SD port) and see if the water indicator is still white. Is it white or pink?

indicator is still white.
also charger works on other device.
when i connect the charger red light turns on for a while then i saw doom kernel picture, then an empty battery icon appears just for 2 seconds and phone closes again.

At morning İ was able to charge my phone and flashed stock kernel with recovery.
I am getting magnetic charger today.i will change the deformed right flap and never gonna use usb port again

I was having a similar issue so I took it to Bell [carrier in Canada] and they said it was a defect so they gave me a brand new updated Ultra. Maybe try that route. But you will lose all your data

Just use a miniUSB cable and plug it into your computer. Any USB wall charger should work. I've used iPhone USB chragers with a miniUSB cable, Nikon camera chargers, as well as a Motorola one. You just need to plug it into any USB port either on a wall or on your computer. Leave the device off while it charges overnight.
Problem with charged
I use both ways but no result , phone indicates to charged but battery not charging.Charger is original and consists of two parts: the charger and mini usb cable .When i run it sometimes on the displays show this message : The charging current is not enough for device power consumption. Please shut down unused applications , or switch to AC adapter. And I do not use any applications. I tried to load phone in the off position , indicates that the charger is ON but the battery is not charging .Please help if someone has the same problem

Try it with a different miniUSB cable. If you don't have one handy, miniUSB cables go for pennies on Amazon or eBay. You can find them in retail stores for about 10 dollars or so as well. If the cable isn't the problem, then it is either a problem with the charge port on the device, or the battery. It's far cheaper to trouble shoot the cable, so let's just start with that.
Sound like the charger is insufficient power, even though it says 1A. Try charging from a computer USB port and see if it charges. HTC don't list TP2 as suitable for this charger.
I am also facing same problem. LED shows charging but phone does not charge. And when I insert charger "USB TO PC" page shows up, Like I have connected the phone to PC.
Please Help...
I just had an issue charging which turned out to be an easy fix.
The led would come on and the icon would show charging but it wasn't increasing the battery %. Then I would get a message about the power not being enough and to plug it into a charger. I tried several chargers and was getting the same thing happening. I blew a few puffs into the charging port which looked clean and it was still happening. I wiggled the cable/plug in the port and occassionally the charging light would go on and off. The charging led even started to go on and off with the phone just sitting still on my table. I feared that my charging port had gone bad so I ordered 2 spare batteries and battery charger from ebay for $10 (works well and battery life good).
While waiting for the ebay purchase to arrive I did some reading up and saw that pins could be bent etc. In my fustration I used a pair of tweezers to gently scrape the charging port pins/contacts (in a straight direction). Then I used an old toothbrush and firmly brushed out the usb port - a whole bunch of lint and stuff come out of the port even though it had previously looked clean.
I plugged in my charger and bingo! My charging issue was gone.

That was the biggest problem with MiniUSB was the width and height of those ports. It's a haven for stray dust and dirt. They need to be brushed out every so often, especially when you just drop it in you pocket.
hi buy and it schould work
buy a new charging cable

All of these dumb charges, ie bricks in the wall, use the unused USB pins to communicate how much power they can provide. There are some resistors they put on the D-/D+ to say this is a 700ma charger or whatever. Trouble is that there are limited standards on these resistors so it's more than possible that a phone will charge but not enter high current charging when attached to a new brick in the wall. The cables however are more universal.

Prime won't charge

Hello
My prime was charged a few weeks ago, and i haven't used it in a while so it discharged and turned off.. Now when I try to plug It in, it shows that it is charging, but nothing happens..
It charged for 3 hours, and when I unplug it, it can't turn on.
If I leave it plugged in and turn it on, it shows a screen with low battery icon and turns off immediately.
I can charge the keyboard just fine, the charging led on the keyboard turns green after a while.
It's rooted, but stock rom and have never unlocked it, so no customer recovery..
Hope someone can help me out :/

It sounds like your battery may have died on you.
Are you using the AC charger or the usb charger?
Mine takes a long time on the usb but charges better on ac.
Are you charging them both while docked, if so try undocking and charging them separately.
How old is the battery, Prime now?
The battery is guaranteed for 12 or 24 months also, just check where your serial number is and it will have a 12 or 24 number on the right under your model number.
Also,l check the charging port and make sure no debris or foreign matter has accumulated in it and some of the pins aren't bent.
If none of this works it means you have an internal problem and a different recovery won't help because you still cannot get it charged.
Post back with your results please.

I've tried both charging it through USB from my computer and through the wall charger (original charger and cable).
I've tried charging it both docked and undocked, separate and together.
The Prime is bought about 7 months ago, and i have checked for dust and such in the various parts.
It says "12" below the serial number btw, but i bought it from England (i live in Denmark) though Amazon, so it would be hard for me to return it..
Though there is 1 thing that is bugging me and i'm not sure if it can be the problem.
There is 1 pin that's not aligned with the others on the charger port on the prime itself
Picture to explain: http://i45.tinypic.com/2r4sw7t.jpg
The 2nd pin from the far left is a bit longer inside the device than the others. I've tried to get it out by using a little metal stick (don't know what its called ) but I've been unsuccessful..
The prime obviously gets some sort of connection when i plug it in (though only if i plug it into the wall charger, doesn't happen with USB, which i kinda predicted) and gets enough power to vibrate, then turn on for about 4 seconds to show a big red battery icon (meaning low power) and then turns off..
I've tried to correct the pins on the wall charger so they're more stable and connect better, i've tried putting the wall charger in the freezer for 20min (google'd it as a possible solution, other said it helped them). I currently don't have any other charger or cable that can connect/charge the prime, but i don't think the problem lies with the charger/cable..
I left the dock+prime docked together charging all night and when i woke up, the dock LED was green but it still wasn't able to boot up at all..
Is there anything i can do to reset the Prime? I've tried the little pin hole under the sd card slot, i've tried various combinations of volume up and volume down and power, but i always end up with the screen with the big red battery icon..

I am 90% sure that 2nd pin from the left is your problem. if you cant find a way to pop it back into place or dont know somebody who can do it for you then you should probably rma.
here is a thread about the pinout. Take a look at the diagram on post 6 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1630300&highlight=pinout
Hi there,
My TFP won't charge or be recognized by my iMac. I have changed the battery, no joy; I replaced the charging port; no joy; and got new charger and cable even though all my others charged other devices, .
Any ideas? Much appreciated

This happened to me because the battery connector inside the device was loose, I had to open up the device up and re-connect it. This time, I've placed some tape to try and make it not fall out again. Maybe the battery is faulty?

[Q] Phone turns off when cable is plugged in

Hey all,
I run a P760 with stock JB rooted. I also tried out PACMAN before on the phone, but came back to stock.
One day, when I plugged in the charger of my phone (wall), the phone went off and could not turn it on again until I took the cable out of the phone. The behavior is the same when plugging it in USB. The strange thing is that the phone, while off, charges and runs normally otherwise.
Also, if I plug in the cable without connecting it to the computer, the phone does not turn off.
Anybody knows why this happens?
Thanks!
I was having the same problem with this phone. After searching around on the Nexus forums, somebody mentioned the charging port was bent. Somebody also mentioned that the pins connecting the battery to the logic board were also at fault.
I recently purchased an aftermarket replacement battery, so I thought it might be the latter.
Here's how I fixed it: I took a tiny screwdriver and straightened the charging port connector slightly. I also pulled the battery out and pulled on the connectors near the physical battery a tiny bit with some tweezers (be careful not to rip them out!)
After doing both of these, I plugged my phone in and it stayed on.
Hope this helps.

No Charging/USB connection, or pogo.

Hey guys, I am having an issue with my one X+, I can't charge it, I have tried through USB and through the POGO pins, it won't seem to charge.
As far as the pogo pin charging, will it show a charge light?
The device also won't connect to USB on the PC. I haven't tried in fastboot, but it won't work while on.
I still have some battery life left, about 12%, but that's about it.
I was wondering if anyone knew of a fix or possible issue this could be.
Have you tried to use the original genuine HTC cable?
It should always light red when charging, also when connected by pogo. Here's the proof:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELsXu7IQomo
Skip to 4:20. The red light is barely visible (because it's small, shame you HTC!), but when the reviewer waves his hand it becomes slightly visible.
What happened with your phone? Had your phone contact with water?

No water damage on it, I purchased it as is, it boots and seems fine, it was charging for maybe 20 minutes before I factory reset it, after that is when it stopped seeming to charge.
As far as the HTC cable, I have not, I have one here at work I am going to take to try.
Ok, so update on the Situation, I used the HTC cable, No change, no charging light, no fastboot to PC. PC doesn't detect device.
Update: I tested with a micrometer, when USB is plugged in, it sends 5v to the battery as it should, could it be a software issue that it's not charging?
Also, if the battery is the issue, would it allow USB connection when it's booted? If it is damaged, would it even show a charge light?
If anyone can, and maybe has time, and patience, I would very much like to know the voltages on the battery slot on the motherboard when USB is plugged in, I seem to get around 4.5-5v, but I get that on each of the 5 prongs.

No charging when in Android, charges when turned off

Strange problem that started a few days ago ( been using the Z2 for over a month now ), I noticed after a long drive the battery was at 17% even though it had been plugged into the Magnetic Charger I have all the time. The lightening icon was present but no charging was happening.
I thought no more of it until last night when I left ( as always) my phone on in the Sony Dock overnight and realised in the middle of the night it had run out of charge and turned itself off. So the magnetic charging points don't work....odd
So I've resorted to regular usb charging but this only works when the phone is off and not when on
I assume the phone is faulty but wanted to consult you guys incase I'm missing something
The phone is stock ( was O2 branded but flashed a while ago with generic UK firmware )
I've tried a factory reset in the OS menus but has mode no difference
Thanks in advance
Si
have you tried a different charger?
Yeah it looks like me USB charging problem was the cable ( I haven't really used cables since getting the magnetic charging adapters ) but the Magnetic Charging port is defiantly not working, it's registering that it's connected and thinks it's charging but gets a message after a short while saying the charging is too slow and it's discharging faster than it's charging so I assume it's a hardware problem.
I've raised a case in Sonys website and will be sending it back to them for a fix, perhaps they might replace it with a bootloader unlocked version LOL
Si
