Flash firmware another model - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

Hello,
I bought a T-Mobile Galaxy S5 SM-G900T recently and want to know if is it possible to flash a stock firmware of another model to my cellphone?
For example, if I flash the firmware built for SM-G900M to my phone, can it cause any damage?
Thank you very much!

I have a Sm-g900t and this is a screen shot of my phone info.... Is my phone running a 900m firmware because my carrier sells the 900T but we do not have T-Mobile here in Alaska

I've used it... Appears my phone came from my carrier with 900M rom, and tmo baseband... So is it possible to flash 900M rom through Odin? On a 900t?also csc says TTT which is Trinidad.... I tried stock tmo version on my phone and wasn't very happy with white dialer and Hotspot issues

You asked all of these questions in a previous thread Kjc99. And I answered them at length. But you seem intent on ignoring the parts that you didn't want to accept.
Your 900T will work fine on another carrier if it uses the same frequency bands. You won't install a baseband from a 900M. You can change a ROM if you wish. And you won't get a TMB OTA with a Trinidad CSC and no OTA signal.
It's your phone, so have at it. But if you still intend to try flashing a 900M bootloader onto your 900T, you will just brick it.

CSC on phone shows as Unknown

I have an unbranded S3,that I bought from Amazon and when I put in *#1234# it shows the CSC as unknown. Is this normal?
If not what can I do?

The easiest solution for a new device is a factory reset. It should resolve itself when it reboots and flashes the stock CSC it shipped with. If that does not resolve it, then reflashing the ROM (or any appropriate stock ROM) should do so. You can find info on it by searching. I've even discussed this recently in the Q&A section myself, as I encountered a similar problem recently by using Mobile Odin and not allowing the CSC to flash due to a custom recovery being installed.
It's not a brand new device, have had it around 2 months. I installed jb 4.1.1 that I got from Sammobile using odin.
I've never noticed any problems, will the phone be ok or is it something I need to sort?
Am planning on wiping all data and installing 4.1.2 btu from Sammobile tomorrow.

Yes I found that, tho its not actually telstra branded the latest is 1 file the others arnt branded either, I need to put phone back to stock for warranty.
Why wouldn't it be branded?
It's just a one file firmware.

Got beaten to it, but all stock firmware are one file, just unzip them, open Odin, add the .tar.md5 to PDA, boot to download mode, connect the phone to your PC and click start, don't click anything else.
And please don't post questions in General

Flashing stockrom from a different country?

Hello, I would like to ask something.
I knew that recently Samsung has released 4.3 update for Samsung Galaxy SIII International Version. The 4.3 update hasn't reach my country yet. I would like to know is it possible for me to flash another country's official frimware? Is there any negative effects?
Meanwhile, if I flash the latest stock rom back to my phone, will it be unrooted?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Yes, you can flash a rom from another country -which includes a modem for another country. If the modem is unsuitable you will lose signal strength or even all connection.
Of course if you flash an unrooted stock rom then your phone will be unrooted, that's the whole point.
Unless you are confident in flashing modems and kernels I would not advise using 4.3 yet -it isn't reliable unless you can replace both.
Thanks for the quick reply
In that case, is it possible to flash just the ROM without the modem/baseband? (SamMobile ROMs come with seperate PDA, Modem)
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
If your current baseband is EMGx or later then yes, you can flash just the rom.
Alright.
Thanks for your help

RIL and modem problem! I9300 with Cyanogenmod 10.2 Stable!

Hello there! I have a i9300 with CM 10.2. Works really nice! I also have TWRP. I looked everywhere for a compatible modem and RIL set because original set (that came with the phone and was modified by CM) doesn't show my signal strength corectly (it is a HUGE number). I'm looking for an unbranded, Europe modem. Also, thanks for reading my first post!

Settings>>About Phone>>Baseband version
I think you are new to here.. would be better to read Faqs and Guides First to Know about your device and do rest of the things else you will mess up with it..
As far as I know, you should flash a modem without Ril because Cm have his own, or you will end up with a No Signal..
I have flashed ROMs on my Samsung Galaxy S since 1 year so I know some stuff. I never worked with modems and RILs. I knew CM has it' s own RIL but I thought maybe it would work with other RILs too. My modem is XXLF5. Also, the modem you have is umbraded? Because my phone isn't bought from Orange, it's unbranded by default.
By the way, thanks for giving me tips! Much appreciated!

I have flashed BUEMC2 modem(no Ril) with cm 10.2 and it's all OK for me even if the Ril don't match with the modem, but I'm from Italy with Vodafone carrier.. Here is a list of modem+Ril for the i9300 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2076857
if you want only the modem, delete the System folder that is in the zip file.

I'll look for a modem that suits my needs and post back the result! Thanks!
Edit: If I install a branded modem onto an unbranded device what will happen?
Edit 2: I installed BVELK1 branded to Orange (even if the phone is normally unbranded by default) and works fine! I'll keep testing and I'll decide if I keep this one or resume my search. Thanks a lot!

From what I've read, Modem are related to your SIM card carrier and country .. In fact my phone was branded Tim, but my modem is for Vodafone / Europe , matching my actual carrier and works very well..

Thanks, but I consider moving to another network, should I change my modem or is there a way to unlock it?

Hey
I had the same problem with the high dBm values after installing another modem/RIL
around 1200dBm for weak signal strength und ca. 1900dBm for good signal.
After reinstalling the RIL that came with CM10.2 everything worked fine (I made a Nandroid-backup)
The RIL is just the files in /system/lib/
libril.so
libsec-ril.so
right?
if yes => i could upload it (but I'm not shure if this will break any certificates)

I've read on another forum that a guy did this (not with the model of S5 that you have) and was successfull. He did this without root.
On the other hand, I've tried to flash the stock firmware of SM-G900M on my SM-G900T (T-Mobile), without rooting, and I've received a FAIL message on ODIN. So, now I'll try to root my phone and then flash the firmware. I don't know if it will cause any damage.
About the problem of the Mobile HotSpot, have you tried to go on Settings > Network Connections > Tethering and Mobile HotSpot?
My T-Mobile (SM-G900T) came without the toggle of the Mobile HotSpot, if this is your problem there's a way to add this toggle on the notification panel.
