Since MIUI was released officially for the N5, what do you think the chances of us getting a port is?

Hello,
I have read in the en.miui.com forum that some xiaomi phones will get MIUI 8 on may 10th. But I haven't seen anything about hermes. Will we get that upgrade too? What would that mean for future custom roms? I am not a big fan of MIUI, but I use it for the camera.
And does new MIUI version mean that it will be another Android version, like 5.1. or higher?
this news is not officially announced but most probably Hermes will get that update

seems like most of the device that are currently maintained with MIUI 7 weekly/dev/stable will get the 8, including Redmi Note 2 which is just last year released Redmi devices. Maybe the question should "Will MIUI 8 on Redmi Note 2 build on Marshmallow rather than Lollipop?" lol idk im not sure hehe
You can see some changes and the announcement here.

But it is not that different. i am more excited about new custom roms.
We will get MIUI 8, but I don't think we will get all the new features. I hope so...
i'm about to buy redmi note 4 global version for eu market, snapdragon 625 processor, 4g lte 800mhz support, after contacting customer support, they said that it will come with android 6.0 and official global MIUI 8, they also said that it will automatically update to android 7.0 and MIUI 9, from what I know this phone got an update to android 7.0 but never heard that global stable, bugs free MIUI 9 was released for this model (it's going to be released soon but not yet as far as I'm aware )
so how is it in reality ?
Maybe they intend that it will be updated to MIUI 9 / Android 7 when it will be released in the near future.
Consider also that usually resellers aren't very accurate in details or specific informations on what they sell. Even the official support from manufacturers don't know every detail about their products...
Hey I just heard from digit.in that xiaomi is rolling MIUI 9.5 based on Android 7.0 to 30 of it's devices including our beloved redmi 3s series. If nothing went wrong, it would be released within few days.I think we can expect some more roms for our devices now. Cheers:laugh:
Yeah it really must be truth. Stable 7.0 without testing in dev builds.
Here it is. As you see still 6.0 and yeah, still almost year old security patch.

F__k Xiaomi
Was my first Xiaomi, and now is my last!!!!
Never never Xiaomi again!!
Guys they sell great value for money products.. u can always change the software but what matters is the hardware.
Take the example of leco le max 2 it has snapdragon 820 at a price range of 10500 at banggoods, no one can match.. To its performance per dollar ?..
But still 6.1
?
I am cool with my phone and thank xiaomi because of it selling so many phones we have got such a great community on xda..
I have my pixel but still use my redmi 3s as it being my first phone.

Someone actually know when would android nougat be available on this device?
its a shame, that they not even update the security patch level: still from 04/2017!!!
Otherwise:
i love MIUI - i don't need Nougat/Oreo...
everything work perfekt for me. But Performance and Akku is better in LOS and co...
yup I really hate xiaomi for not providing at least one android upgrade and for this ancient security patch. the moderators on miui forum are very rude one word against xiaomi and baaaam instant ban. They are bootlickers of xiaomi. I also hate ugly round green coloured notification toggles. and with every stable update new bloatwares and no option to remove them and also plenty full of ads
Never

Xiaomi is fooling us by upadting MIUI version. They are not updating Android version.
To everyone complaining about miui. It's true that it's a bad OS but not ****ty. As a matter of fact, MIUI is far more stable than any of the custom ROMs available. Xiaomi instead of bumping the android version from marshmallow, keeps increasing the stability with marshmallow which isn't bad. And those suffering from bloatware, use modded miui like Xiaomi.eu or miuipro.
Official MIUI with Android 7.0 or higher will NEVER come to the 3S. Just flash official LineagOS 14.1, is as stable as the stock ROM, you'll have decent notifications and no bloatware.
The MIUI update 9.5.1 was actually pulled back and made nightly due to critical bugs.
http://en.miui.com/thread-2160466-1-1.html
The update was on Android 6.0.1 (obviously) and with April Security patch ( 2017 not 2018 )
So in short use Custom ROMs and be happy with the minimal bugs and in return get solid performance and stability.
My recommendations : crDroid 3.8.5 OFFICIAL

So, i've been using MiUI 11 on my A3 for a few weeks, and i have to say, it's flawless. Before that, on every phone i had i always used AOSP ROMs, and i'm impressed with this one.
The last MiUI i used was probably version 9 on my RN4 mido, and they have gone very far with the improvements.
Since the development has stopped from xiaomi, it would be great if we would get a MiUI 12 port from cc9.
So, my question is, is there a plan on porting the upcoming UI, and what are the chances that it will be based on android 10 ?

We will get miui ports as long as developer Bitnet finds a working miui rom for mi cc9e..
Could it be that now that MIUI 12 has been released it can be installed on the Z5 pro gt?
I'd like that too.
MIUI 12 is still in beta, slated for release in June for Xiaomi devices (xiaomi.eu doesn't even offer downloads yet).
Even if there is already a beta, it would still have to be ported by Chinese devs to the Z5 Pro GT. It's possible. It would be a China ROM rather than a Global ROM.
Fingers crossed. I think your question might be answerable by devs on Chinese Lenovo forum https://mclub.lenovo.com.cn/
First it needs to launch for mi mix 3, then devs can port to z5 pro gt.
