hello,
My Samsung S3 it has become sluggish or slow reacting to the home button and when I want to Unlock the device. At least a 2-3 second delay before it reacts. I've cleared cache, removed all open/running apps, cleared ram, restarted phone nothing happened.
I try as much as I can to clear everything daily twice a time, but even though it doesn't help. I also clear the Application for Task Manager and Running Application also that I do want, but no joy. I don't browse much, I don't have lots of Pictures of Videos.
I have only installed a few applications;
WhatsApp
UberSocial for Twitter
Gmail Client
Exchange Server Mail configured on it
Andriod Keyboad 2.3 (ASOP)
TouchPal Keyboard
App Cache Clearer to clean all Application Cache

Don't you think you are clearing (cache/memory) too much?

What is your suggestion about the Cache/Memory?
4.0.4 latest firmware PDA:LFB/ PHONE:LFB / CSC:LF3 (XSG)
Are you using a custom ROM/kernel? If then, return to all stock.
he is on stock indian build
@OP I was on LFB a few days back and it was really snappy for me.
First advice is to stop worrying about cache/memory. Let android handle it. Second try and uninstall cleaner app, reboot and then see

Hello, I don't use any ROM/Kernel at all. it's stock and I never played with it's OS other than upgraded to the latest Android. 4.0.4
There's always a delay when pressing the home button when waking up the phone. This is a hardware problem and the S II, the Note and some other Samsung phones all suffer from it. However 2-3 seconds is too much. Go into S-Voice and disable the "double tap activation" in its settings. It should speed things up a bit.
maybe do a factory wipe/reset?

Hello, the S-Voice disabled since I purchased it. I don't use all the handy features as well such as Screen Rotation, sounds with keyboard and keys, I don't use Navigation, Maps, Latitude, google+, Local, Dropbox, etc etc.. I'm just keeping my phone so light, but the responsiveness of the the Unlocking device is irritating me.

Hi all,
I'm using RR 3.0.9 with siyah 4.1.5 by changmin.
I encountered the below issue:
whenever I hold back to kill on whatsapp, after a period of phone on time(eg. 1 or 2 hours at least), the phone freezes, and the only thing active is the power menu to reboot phone. You won't be able to do anything unless you reboot your phone.
Anyone encountered the same issue?
4wipes done but the problem still persists.:crying:

I have whatsapp here and I've done that many time and my phone never froze.
1. Are you 100% sure the problem is caused by killing whatsapp?
2. Have you tried to isolate the problem?

if you're talking about isolating, how about I never had problem with HBTK feature making my phone freeze on other apps..
yepp..it can't be freezing with I am using a different launcher isn't it? that means it doesn't have any issue with launcher too.. just HBTK and whatsapp specifically..
perhaps you would wanna recommend you ideas in mind that you think I have not done isolating the problem?
I will then tell you whether I have done it or not.. =)

Try this:
1. Use titanium backup pro to freeze all your user apps except whatsapp,
2. use the default launcher,
3. Restart your phone.
4 test if the problem persists.

So after I upgraded my ST27i from ICS to JB, I'm experiencing heavy lags when someone calls me. Usually when I try answer the call, I have to wait about 8-10 sec to actually answer that call and to start talking.
I've tried it on stock JB, and custom JB too but both of them have the same issue. On ICS everything is working fine without bugs.
Anyone got some solution for it?
Best Regards,
+1 same here. Sometimes when dialling, too.

Hi. Any solutions for this problem? Have been facing the same thing for months...
Delete call history
I think the only way to fix this is to download apps from play store call "Ex dialer"nearly all Xperia u user rate it 5 star.
Correct me if I'm wrong
If you have CWM, wipe cache partition and use Seeder 2.0
This is a ram management problem causes phone to release all apps in memory and then reboots phone I have solved my problem by installing clean master from the play store and after its setup not 1 hang from phone.apk calling out and incoming fine

Finally I got some new results today, after struggling with this problem for months.
First I tried all the suggested methods (clearing the call log, installing all those apps), and none of them worked -- except CWM that I didn't try, because I wasn't root.
What solved my problem, was to do a clean flash (and wipe everything during flashing). The problem was totally gone. Note that "wiping every thing" during flashing is a key thing that I guess last time I hadn't done.
Everything was good until I restored all my backed up contacts -- around 1500 contacts. Then it was laggy again!
Then I again did a hard reset. Problem was gone again. But this time I was lucky enough to restore the contacts, and have my system in a healthy state -- no lags so far! I don't know what was different this time, but it's got to have something to do with the contacts!
I'll keep you updated if I find any changes -- worth reporting.

Just remove any VOIP software you have like viber, skype , etc. I know you might be using them but yeah sony's rom has issues with viber specially which causes this lag.. if u wanna use viber use a cm rom or stock ics, or gb. JB is buggy in terms of 3rd party VOIP support

Should I unlock my bootloader & use a custom kernel? Will that solve the problem?
My SGS2 was suddenly rebooted itself when I connected it to my PC. It didn't happen before and it does not happen now.
My question is, when something goes wrong and the phone suddenly reboots or a specific app crashes or whatever (just one time, not on a regular basis) how can I know if any damage was done, to data for example, like a corruption, and whether or not should I reinstall this app or wipe and flash the phone?
I was just about to finish configuring settings and installing apps after a clean ROM installation when it happened, and so I thought about doing everything all over again because I wanted it to be "perfect".
If anyone shares this annoying habit I'm sure you will know what I'm talking about. I figured out I might just ask a pro about this thing I usually do, as I am aware that it is possible that there is absolutely zero logic to it and it is all in my head
Thanks.
P.S: Didn't post in the device forum because I figured it is a question that is based on the Android OS nature rather than subjective to a specific device model.

Is there any reason to re-flash just because of a single crash? if so, please elaborate as I am very willing to understand the considerations.
Thanks.
Anyone?
why dont you do a research on logcats !!
if you can understand logcats fine or else just post the logcats in the forum of the app that causes crashing!!

Because I'm not asking about troubleshooting a crashing app... nor a faulty OS installation.
I'm asking about the general idea of re-flashing a phone just because the OS suddenly crashed, one time only, without any special use for the moment.
You said your phone rebooted after you connected it to the pc. This the problem. No need to reflash imo, just close all apps when connecting next time.

what do you mean by OS suddenly crashed.. is it that it rebooted all of a sudden out of nowhere or are there some system process that gets FC ?
if its happened one time only no need to reflash... if problem exists reflash with proper wipe..

Kind of out of nowhere, yes, but even if it had something to do with me connecting it to the PC too soon after starting the phone - I am still curious if a sudden crash (a single one out of nowhere) can make some sort of a damage to any system or app data that it is recommended to re-flash or something.
I really hope you got my point. I used all my English skills to this one!

android can crash when it runs out of RAM. Doesnt necessarily mean that a system app is damaged. if however a system app is damaged it will show up as a FC (force close) rather than a reboot.
so still im of the opininon that you dont have to reflash you rom yet...
How exactly did it work? Did you connect your phone to PC and then it rebooted?
By closing all apps i meant removing everything from recents screen.

Yeah. But it didn't happen since. Just this one time.
I got curious about what might have caused it and what might have happened because of it and decided to ask here if it makes sense to re-flash
your rom is fine. The reboot used to happen to me from time to time when i plugged it into the computer or when i uninstalled an app. It had something to do with an app being executed in the background and not releasing every ressource. This didnt happen on the last few builds for me though...

normally not. if you dont have fc over fc then you dont need to reflash

Make sure you install your root app (SuperSU or Superuser) and Xposed into /system/app if not already. For backing up apps and Settings, I prefer Titanium Backup. Reset in recovery.
If you want to know what's causing the lag, it's possible that a logcat could tell us what's going on. There's plenty of info on here and Google about how to run a logcat.

You'd have to run the logcat when it starts to lag and post it for others to take a look at. Copy and paste to pastebin.com and provide the link. It's not my forte, though I understand some of it. Hopefully someone else will come by and check it out.

Sounds like a badly coded app causing memory leaks which is utilizing too much RAM. After a reset, might be best to start adding back apps a few at a time to try and pinpoint the problem.
