Could someone help? Bought a second hand prime and thought to have the nearby Asus service center fix its touchscreen digitizer and camera. They said that it would cost too much to have it fixed because the "mainboard got damaged".
The device was working fine before but I thought they meant that they couldn't repair just the touchscreen because of the mainboard mismatch causing the inverted X axis so I thought to claim it and cancel the repair and just use it as an Android laptop.
When I bring it home to charge, now the tablet would not power on and would only show me 2 blinking orange lights when plugged in (to the keyboard or the wall charger ). The charger would charge the keyboard just fine (it's at green) but plugging the tablet into anything would just show me 2 blinking lights then nothing.

Hey I'm having this same problem, I noticed that this happened back in 2014, did you happen to figure it out?
Nope. I figured they ruined the device when they opened it up and I got screwed out of it. Decided to get another tablet on ebay which was cool for a while

I have an AT&T HOX+ and basically it's dead, but I figured it was worthwhile asking for suggestions. My phone was rooted and running ViperXL, working normally. Then I dropped it, while it was plugged in. What I managed to do was mangle the micro USB port beyond usability, while the phone had 1% battery. At the time it seemed like the phone was otherwise totally fine, so I figured this wouldn't be an unreasonable fix.
I brought my phone into a local repair shop with good reviews and had them look at my phone. They said the USB port was a simple fix, 20$ part and they did fix it. Four days later I get a call from them saying we're really sorry, but we did the fix and the phone still doesn't work - it seems to be a problem with the logic board. I picked up the phone yesterday and basically confirmed what they said. The USB port is fixed but doesn't appear to serve much purpose.
Here are the symptoms: nothing visibly wrong with the phone or charging port, other than the fact that it won't boot. When plugged in, a small red LED blinks every ~1.5 seconds in the speaker grille. When the power button is held down, after about 5 seconds the three LEDs light up for 2 seconds then turn off. Nothing else happens.
Edit: I should add that the blinking LED continues when not plugged in. Plugging the phone in doesn't really appear to do anything.
The repair people are probably right and it's the logic board - which is pretty unhelpful. When I asked what they suggested, they said any repair is going to be very expensive and it might be worth getting a new phone. I've only had this phone for 4 months so I have another 20 months of happy contractual obligations. At this point I'm looking for any suggestions on where to get this phone repaired. I may have voided whatever warranty HTC offers by getting my phone repaired aftermarket but when I researched the warrenty, it didn't seem like it would cover this issue anyway. I haven't tried bringing the phone into an AT&T store yet. Thank you!
I don't know that I can give you a definitive answer, but I can say that the blinking red LED is (or can be) caused by the battery having no charge. If you ask me, I say that even though the USB port is fixed, it's not delivering any charge to the battery.
That seems pretty likely which means either the repair people didn't correctly put on the new part or by dropping it I broke something more complicated.
I guess my real question is more about repair / replacing the phone. Is there an official repair outlet for HTC that could repair it? At this point paying is inevitable but I'd rather not buy a new phone if possible, although the new nexus GS4 is tempting.
The blinking red light means the phone doesn't have enough power to even power up. I don't know about the other 3 led thing you talk about, but try to leave your phone charging for a couple of hours and then try to power it up.

It doesn't seem to be getting any charge at all when plugged in, so replacing the usb port must not have fixed the problem.
better to buy a brand new HTC unit
I suggest you charge it continuously for an hour and then try to switch it on. Same thing happened to my phone and this is what I did which worked!

Hello,
I hope it's OK to post HW related questions on this forum.
I got an xt910 from a coworker which has a broken screen.
It does not make any bootup sound and is not showing internal memory when connected to a computer, only a white LED is glowing.
I suspect a broken mainboard, as the screen cracked when coworkers' daughter jumped on his lap. It did work for a while but then it died.
Can you confirm or overrule my suspicion?
Been hasty
I was too hasty to post the question.
After I posted this thread the phone vibrated and the buttons lighted up. It did not show any internal memory tho. After I disconnected and the cable the buttons stopped glowing. After I reconnected the cable, the white LED startind to glow again. It might be a case of dying battery.

Thanks for your input!
I charged the phone for an hour or so via USB cable from the computer as I don't have the Motorola's wallcharger. Instead of white blinking light it shows a green one every 3 seconds. The buttons light up for a while but no connection to internal memory.
OK, so the mainboard works!
But to retrieve the numbers and data a working screen is needed. I called a service and around here it costs 15 € to access the data.
I think the digitizer is gone. Rest would be good.
You can take backup from pc itself by building recovery. I have read somewhere but i don't know the steps..

Have the Xperia Z tablet in stock ROM, unrooted, everything stock ... and a couple days ago out of the blue the tablet has stopped charging.
Even when I plug the USB cable in, the LED does not come up. Looking at Settings->Battery it shows a slim line under "Charging" only. Tried different chargers and different cables, same thing.
If I power off the tablet, and plug the charger in, now the LED lights up and the tablet charges.
As soon as I power on the tablet, the LED that was on goes off immediately. With the tablet turned on somehow it cannot detect the charger at all.
Tried rebooting the tablet a few times and didn't help.
Anyone had the same issue?
My next step is to use the Sony Companion software to repair it but not sure if it will wipe out my tablet ...

It's weird that it still charges when its off. I had a problem where it wasn't charging at all, and the motherboard got fried apparently, and Sony gave me a replacement.
I googled some, and people having similar problems as yours (on Sony as well as other androids) ultimately had to get their phone repaired/replaced unfortunately. For example - http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperi...Z-only-charging-when-switched-off/td-p/513665
I suggest you take a backup of all your data while this phone is still working!

Anyone getting the sleep of death on their XTZ2? I'm running completely stock (not even rooted) on 23.0.1.A.4.30 and just experienced the unit not turning on at all until I do power + up volume.
Upon returning to life, the battery was 90%, so it wasn't battery.
Had a bit of a panic attack until I googled the solution (power + up) but this is the first time its happened to my unit, could it be related to the recent upgrade to 23.0.1.A.4.30? Anyone else seen this?
Mine lasted a day and a half after the 23.0.1.A.4.30 update and then became very erratic and kept forgetting wifi login info.
Did a restart and certainly got a sleep of death OK.
Would not switch on at all.
No power + vol up or attempt at repair via PC Companion made any difference to it.
Since gone back to Sony for repair, that was weeks ago, who knows if /when they will return it.
I had the same problem with mine as well I have the 561 the Verizon model. I have received a replacement but have not been able to get it to turn on either. It shows no signs off life at all not even when connected to power AC or PC. My old one would blink red and go dead when connected to a PC but this one doesn't even do that. I haven't had time to call for another replacement yet but really two defective devices in a row the second one didn't turn once.
Finally got mine back from Sony repair agent.
Worked fine for 3 days, then failed to power on again as per original fault.
Once again returned it for repair.
Think I'll give up and buy an iPad instead - at least they seem to be reliable and consistent.
This just happened to my tablet this morning. Tried all options under the sun but can't get it to boot.
I can't even do a factory reset and I don't particularly want to return it under warranty.... :'(
Mine is an xperia z2 tablet sgp561 (USA Verizon) build 17.1.D.0.437, stock 4.4.2. This issue happened to me 5 days ago after I powered off the tablet, it won't turn on again. Battery charge was ~70% at the time. Plugging it with factory Sony usb charger won't do anything, charging status LED remained Off, power button unresponsive. I let the tablet sit for 2 days without charging cable connected hoping the battery will drain completely by itself and the buggy firmware will restart executing at its base address getting out of the bug. Then I connected the crap to a fully charged 15000mah Anker power pack and alas, the charging status LED glowed red and after ~5 more minutes the LCD screen turned On for ~5 seconds showing a big battery icon at the center of the screen indicating 0% charge. Waited about 1 more hour and the charging status LED turned amber. This time I did the "power button + volume up" ritual holding both buttons for 10 sec+, expecting 3 vibrations but didn't feel any. At this point the tablet is still powered off. Because LED = amber, thinking battery must be at least 10% charged by now, just pressed the power button for ~2 sec and surprisingly the normal power On vibration came followed by Sony logo on LCD screen and the rest is normalcy.
From what I can remember, the recent change I made before this problem happened was turning Stamina to On in the battery settings (factory default is Off). I reset all settings back to factory defaults and so far so good.
Finally got mine back from Sony repair agent after about 3 week wait.
Seems to work OK now, fingers crossed it will keep working this time.
The note that came with the return indicated that they replaced the mainboard and battery, which is a better solution than their first attempt which was just to reflash the software.

Dude same thing, WTF is going on, I tried plugging it into charger, nothing. And once I got the msg of red colour battery icon and then I plugged it in. then it started charging and I was happy so I turned it on the it wasn't charging,
Please update me what happened and what they are saying cause I am about to send mine to get it fixed.
Edit: seems that by replacing the battery and mainboard has actually fixed the issue? Guess it's time to send it back to them, Gosh

Did this method work for you? Plus did you come across like it was charging but it wasn't really charging,(like it showed the low battery stat with orange/red colour LED notification but suddenly it vanishes) then it's not responding at all.??
I had this issue 2 times with months in between , no response from power+vol up , no lights when charging , no response from pressing on the red button behind the flaps.
The last time it happened i tried putting it on the charger for a whole day with no result, then decided to let it rest a few days first , since someone had the same issue and it magically came back to life when he got back from a vacation.
So i try to turn it on 2 days later and the tablet to my surprise responds again with blinking red LED, recharching afterwards did the trick and worked again since
In my case i was running CM11 at the time, both times it happened after an update which required a reboot while, still mistified about the cause and the fix , i presume it solved itself by letting the battery drain.
Since then i reverted to stock rom just to be save but havent had it happen since, this also seems to have fixed some touchscreen problems i was having at times.
Hope this helps.
Bloody hell, I've just ordered mine today!
Don't stress. Mine got repaired. if it goes tits up that's what warranty is for
What did Fonebiz indicate was wrong with your Z2.?
They replaced the motherboard in mine.
Exactly the same, works fine now
This just happened to me today. So seems like overall suggestion is to try and let it discharge. The try to start it back up and charge it then. Just want to make sure that's the only potential solution now?
No! Leave it powered off, put in on a known good charger for at least 12 hrs. Don't touch it in that time.
If it does not come alive after that, send it in for repair.
ok..let me try that. I originally tried that and nothing occurred. However, I just found the OEM charger and usb cable and will try that. Unfortunately it's a Verizon version so sending it in will not be covered by Sony warranty. Per the Customer Service that I called.
ok..tried another charger and the red light came on, but it's been over 12 hours and still no go. I did notice that the red light was no longer on (from overnight charging). I left it unplugged for a bit and reconnected. The red light came back on but still no response. Sounds like i'll need to send in?
Looks like it.
Had the same problem on tuesday. Impossible to switch on, no light, none effect with charger, none effect when connected to PC/MAC etc...
After 4 days without charging my Z2, it came back to life, showing only a big red battery icon when pushing some seconds on the power button. Connected to a charger the red led indicator glowed ! (red battery icon is totally different with the original icon when tablet is charging in power off mode)
After a full battery charge with OEM charger and after a normal power on, my Z2 is now perfectly functionnal.
i think i already know to the answer to this but want your opinions on it today i decided to get a charging dock (suspected cheep one) came in a Sony box but the dock had no Sony logos noticed this after what happed. anyway it charged the phone up no problem but my daughter 3yr old put it on the dock again but the wrong way and now the phone wont turn on and has a constant flashing red LED when its plugged in the charger or pc. i tried the vol+ and power and vol- also and even the red button next to the sim card i even tried the Sony companion but since the pc cant see the phone plugged in the the Companion cant do its magic.
i know its probably fried but if any of you have had this issue or similar and got it to work i would love some advice
I had the same problem on my Z1c, it just began for different reasons. But still the same flashing light, no vibrations, no turning on nor recognition by pc companion. In the end the warranty service swapped the motherboard as it had lost communication with the battery somehow.
As I understand it, the motherboard thinks that the battery is completely empty and you keep plugging the charger in and out. That's where the flashing red light comes from and that's why you can't turn your phone on - the battery is "empty".
I got it working again I had to take the back off thankfully not that hard and just disconnect the battery and reconnect it and send sprung back in to life again
